Many studies focusing on childhood sexual abuse (CSA) may have neglected the consequences related to experiencing other types of childhood maltreatment, such as psychological maltreatment. Moreover, the literature has focused more on negative consequences related to CSA, hence potentially leaving out more adaptive and resilient trajectories. This qualitative study aimed to explore childhood psychological maltreatment and CSA, mindfulness, sexuality, and intimate relationships in adult survivors. The interview data from 19 individuals who experienced CSA and psychological maltreatment were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Four conceptual categories developed: (a) an unsafe family environment that hindered the development of positive experiences and relationships; (b) impaired mindfulness dispositions: the reliving of trauma, the avoidance of suffering, and feeling engulfed; (c) impaired intimacy: instability, codependence, emotional distance, and self-silencing; and (d) mindfulness dispositions and posttraumatic growth (PTG) in participants' intimate lives. These findings highlight that mindfulness, sexuality, and intimate relationships are often poor among survivors of psychological maltreatment and CSA. Yet opportunities to develop mindfulness dispositions appear to enhance PTG in survivors' intimate relationships, significantly contributing to survivors' healing processes. Survival sex is the exchange of sex for material goods required for survival (i.e., shelter, food, drugs). Because this exchange occurs under conditions of deprivation, there is a power imbalance that limits the ability to freely consent to sex or to exercise sexual agency. This review aimed to examine the consent and sexual agency implications of survival sex and to identify which factors push people into greater levels of deprivation and vulnerability to engage in survival sex. We searched six databases and included 21 articles that discussed the sexual consent or sexual agency implications of survival sex and synthesized the study findings via qualitative analysis. We identified three themes as they relate to the consent or sexual agency implications of survival sex--power, coercion, and sexual agency--and five themes we called push factors into greater vulnerability to survival sex--hunger, patriarchy, poverty, substance use, and insecure housing. Each factor has the effect of limiting peoples capacity to consent to sex by creating a coercive environment that limits their power to exercise sexual agency. We found that women are at particular risk to be coerced into survival sex by other people or circumstances of deprivation. Our findings suggest that survival sex is often nonconsensual sex. In contrast to traditional approaches that consider survival sex a risk factor for sexual health, we discuss policy and advocacy efforts and apply a human rights perspective that considers how survival sex is a violation of personhood and autonomy. This article looks at an ancient tradition of India called devadasis, which literally means 'servant of God'. It requires girls as young as four years to be 'married' or 'dedicated' to a temple deity. Once a revered practice, over time the traditions evolved allowing women and children to become sexually exploited in the name of God. Looking at the reasons for the difficulty in combating this issue, this paper will first analyse its practices through a historical lense. Secondly, the extent of this exploitative practice will be discussed, and a major objective will be to explore the cultural underpinnings of a practice that permits the sexual exploitation of minors under the guise of religion which leads to sexual servitude and trafficking. This paper analyses the reasons for its continued practice and will conclude with some recommendations for improving the status of these vulnerable persons. This article analyzes the criminal procedure against the Schutzjudensohn (son of a protected Jew), Heyum Windmuhl, who was charged with raping the six-year-old daughter of a Christian citizen in a case in Frankfurt am Main in the early nineteenth century. In doing so, it engages with three topics currently debated in historical scholarship: sexualized violence, the relationship between anti-Jewish resentment and gender, and marginalized masculinity and intersectionality. As this study posits, Christian criminal justice provides insight into the nature of contact and conflict between Jews and gentiles. The article illuminates the role discrimination played in the anti-Jewish-encoded criminal arena of sexuality and violence while also exploring the patriarchal gender order that shaped the misogynous construction of sexual assault in the case. Finally, it reveals how the mechanisms of criminal procedure, as well as the legal discourses of reform and regulatory interests impacted the verdict and its interpretation. This case evidences the impact of the motif of the 'Jew as desecrator of virgins,' the Jud SUB (Jew Sufi) motif, which constructed Jewish men as rapists of Christiaan women. Sexual victimization, defined as non-contact unwanted sexual experiences (e.g., sexual harassment), unwanted sexual contact, sexual coercion, forcible rape, or alcohol- or drug-facilitated assault or rape, is nontrivial among the college study population. This study explores how the situational contexts, which include self-reported consequences and responses to victimization, compare between incidents of non-contact sexual harassment (SH) and contact sexual victimization (CSV) (e.g., unwanted sexual contact, sexual coercion, and rape). Conjunctive analyses compare the commonality and variation among situational contexts of incidents of SH and incidents of CSV from a sample of survivors from 24 different colleges. Both forms of sexual violence negatively impact college students. Respondents who experienced SH only (i.e., did not also experience CSV) in the past year and those who experienced contact CSV only (i.e., did not also experience non-contact SH) in the past year both reported negative outcomes associated with the victimization, but it was more common for survivors of SH only to report being intimidated and feeling uncomfortable in their environment at the college. The implications of this study are twofold. First, scholars should ensure that research on the negative effects of CSV does not come at the expense of other forms of sexual victimization. Adolescent substance use and teen dating violence (TDV) are both significant public health concerns. Yet, less research has examined the intersection of different substances used with differing TDV experiences or types. More scholarship is needed examining how these two behaviors relate A subset of data (n = 2099) from Technology, Teen Dating Violence and Abuse, and Bullying in Three States, 2011-2012 (Zweig and Dank 2016 (See CR22)) was used to explore group differences in TDV victimization, perpetration, or mutual violence within different TDV types (physical, psychological, sexual, and online) on various drugs of use Bivariate analyses (e.g. Chi-square analysis and independent t-test analysis) were conducted comparing positive report of each substance used among the TDV groups (never, victimization only, perpetration only, and mutual) for each TDV type. Findings indicated several significant group differences between dating violence groups and different drugs of use within each type of TDV. For physical dating violence, significant group differences were found for gender, race, alcohol use, marijuana use, pain relievers, and illicit drugs. For psychological dating violence and online dating violence, the only significant group differences were gender and alcohol. For sexual coercion, there were significant group differences for all 10 substances included in the analysis and for gender The present results highlight the complex nature of how substance use and TDV are related. The research aims to identify and define the dimensions of sexual harassment that women are exposed to in the workplace and strategies to cope with harassment. In the research, 'in-depth interview' was used as qualitative research methods and semi-structured interview form was used as data collection tool. The study was conducted with 498 women exposed to sexual abuse. The data were analyzed by NVIVO 10 qualitative analysis program. Considering the contents of sexual harassment, although there are a range of harassment forms, in a hierarchy of severity, these can be named as harassment through stalking, physical, verbal, and visual harassment. Women have difficulties in recognizing and identifying harassment in the workplace. In particular, it appears that they have entered into the process of concealing and neglecting with different definitions, which they have used to abuse the words 'harassment' and harasser'. Guilt, weakness, humiliation, fear, anger, helplessness, not knowing what to do, denial are the emotions that arise after harassment. After harassment, women who are harassed remain silent due to fear of losing their jobs and receving negative reactions. Women who are exposed to harassment are trying to protect themselves from harassment by 'self restraint and avoidance' approach.
