Multi-Dimensional Optimal Power Flow (MDOPF) is a fundamental task in power systems engineering aimed at optimizing the operation of electrical networks while considering various constraints such as power generation, transmission, and distribution. The mathematical model of MDOPF involves formulating it as a non-linear, non-convex optimization problem aimed at minimizing specific objective functions while adhering to equality and inequality constraints. The objective function typically includes terms representing the Fuel Cost (FC), Entire Network Losses (ENL), and Entire Emissions (EE), while the constraints encompass power balance equations, generator operating limits, and network constraints, such as line flow limits and voltage limits. This paper presents an innovative Improved Kepler Optimization Technique (IKOT) for solving MDOPF problems. The IKOT builds upon the traditional KOT and incorporates enhanced local escaping mechanisms to overcome local optima traps and improve convergence speed. The mathematical model of the IKOT algorithm involves defining a population of candidate solutions (individuals) represented as vectors in a high-dimensional search space. Each individual corresponds to a potential solution to the MDOPF problem, and the algorithm iteratively refines these solutions to converge towards the optimal solution. The key innovation of the IKOT lies in its enhanced local escaping mechanisms, which enable it to explore the search space more effectively and avoid premature convergence to suboptimal solutions. Experimental results on standard IEEE test systems demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed IKOT in solving MDOPF problems. The proposed IKOT obtained the FC, EE, and ENL of USD 41,666.963/h, 1.039 Ton/h, and 9.087 MW, respectively, in comparison with the KOT, which achieved USD 41,677.349/h, 1.048 Ton/h, 11.277 MW, respectively. In comparison to the base scenario, the IKOT achieved a reduction percentage of 18.85%, 58.89%, and 64.13%, respectively, for the three scenarios. The IKOT consistently outperformed the original KOT and other state-of-the-art metaheuristic optimization algorithms in terms of solution quality, convergence speed, and robustness. Fuel cells (FCs) have garnered significant attention due to their versatile applications, but their nonlinear characteristics pose challenges in the modeling process. This research presents a unique enhanced artificial hummingbird algorithm (EAHA) aimed at identifying the seven unknown parameters of the proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) stack by utilizing their experimental datasets. To accomplish this, the objective is to achieve accurate current/voltage (I/V) curves where a cost function is defined using the aggregation of quadratic deviations (AQD) between the measured dataset points and the appropriate model‐based estimations. The presented EAHA combines several territorial foraging techniques with a linear regulating mechanism. The performance of the conventional AHA is compared with the suggested EAHA using three commonly employed PEMFC modules. Furthermore, a comparative analysis is conducted against previously published methodologies and newly developed optimizers such as the equilibrium optimizer (EO), social networking search (SNS) technique, slim mold algorithm (SMA), heap‐based optimizer (HBO), and African vultures optimization (AVO) technique. The findings are compared to existing methodologies and other state‐of‐the‐art optimizers, providing valuable insights into the efficacy of the proposed approach. For the 250 W PEMFC stack, the proposed EAHA shows improvements of 2.966%, 6.493%, 1.491%, 7.080%, 1.131%, and 2.875% over AHA, AVO, EO, HBO, SMA, and SNS, respectively, depending on the mean AQD values. Similar findings are attained for the other two stacks. For example, for the test case of the BCS 500 W PEMFCs stack, the proposed EAHA demonstrates improvements of 64.228%, 82.859%, 66.140%, 81.156%, 46.302%, and 71.635% over AHA, AVO, EO, HBO, SMA, and SNS, respectively. This study proposes an enhanced Kepler Optimization (EKO) algorithm, incorporating fractional-order components to develop a Proportional-Integral-First-Order Double Derivative (PI–(1+DD)) controller for frequency stability control in multi-area power systems with wind power integration. The fractional-order element facilitates efficient information and past experience sharing among participants, hence increasing the search efficiency of the EKO algorithm. Furthermore, a local escaping approach is included to improve the search process for avoiding local optimization. Applications were performed through comparisons with the 2020 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC 2020) benchmark tests and applications in a two-area system, including thermal and wind power. In this regard, comparisons were implemented considering three different controllers of PI, PID, and PI–(1+DD) designs. The simulations show that the EKO algorithm demonstrates superior performance in optimizing load frequency control (LFC), significantly improving the stability of power systems with renewable energy systems (RES) integration. This paper presents an optimal allocation methodology of photovoltaic distributed generations (PVDGs) with Volt/Var control based on Automatic Voltage Regulations (AVRs) in active distribution networks considering the non-dispatchable mode of PVDG operation. In the proposed methodology, an intelligent coordinated Var control is activated via controlling the AVR tap position and the Var injection of PV inverters to achieve a compromise between reducing active and reactive power losses and enhancing voltage quality in a distribution network. Also, the scheduled power factor mode of operation is investigated for the PV inverters. Added to that, the proposed allocation methodology is handled on the basis of hourly loading variation under simultaneous control modes of PV inverters and AVR. Moreover, the impacts of the specified number of PVDGs are assessed on the distribution system's performance. A recent effective optimizer of the slim mold algorithm (SMA) is dedicated to solving the proposed optimization framework. The simulation implementations are executed on a practical distribution network of the Kafr Rabea area related to South Delta Electricity Company in Egypt. Also, the application is conducted for a large-scale distribution network from the metropolitan area of Caracas. This paper proposes a new Enhanced Dwarf Mongoose Optimization Algorithm (EDMOA) with an alpha-directed Learning Strategy (LS) for dealing with different mathematical benchmarking functions and engineering challenges. The DMOA's core concept is inspired by the dwarf mongoose's foraging behavior. The suggested algorithm employs three DM social categories: the alpha group, babysitters, and scouts. The family forages as a team, with the alpha female initiating foraging and determining the foraging course, distance traversed, and sleeping mounds. An enhanced LS is included in the novel proposed algorithm to improve the searching capabilities, and its updating process is partially guided by the updated alpha. In this paper, the proposed EDMOA and DMOA were tested on seven unimodal and six multimodal benchmarking tasks. Additionally, the proposed EDMOA was compared against the traditional DMOA for the CEC 2017 single-objective optimization benchmarks. Moreover, their application validity was conducted for an important engineering optimization problem regarding optimal dispatch of combined power and heat. For all applications, the proposed EDMOA and DMOA were compared to several recent and well-known algorithms.
