Background: People with epilepsy (PWE) and people with intellectual disabilities (ID) both live shorter lives than the general population and both conditions increase the risk of death further. We aimed to measure associations between certain risk factors for death in PWE and ID., Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted in ten regions in England and Wales. Data were collected on PWE registered with secondary care ID and neurology services between 2017 and 2021. Prevalence rates of neurodevelopmental, psychiatric and medical diagnoses, seizure frequency, psychotropic and antiseizure medications (ASM) prescribed, and health activity (epilepsy reviews/risk assessments/care plans/compliance etc.) recorded were compared between the two groups., Results: 190 PWE and ID who died were compared with 910 living controls. People who died were less likely to have had an epilepsy risk assessment but had a greater prevalence of genetic conditions, older age, poor physical health, generalized tonic-clonic seizures, polypharmacy (not ASMs) and antipsychotic use. The multivariable logistic regression for risk of epilepsy-related death identified that age over 50, medical condition prevalence, antipsychotic medication use and the lack of an epilepsy review in the last 12 months as associated with increased risk of death. Reviews by psychiatrists in ID services was associated with a 72% reduction in the odds of death compared neurology services., Conclusions: Polypharmacy and use of antipsychotics may be associated with death but not ASMs. Greater and closer monitoring by creating capable health communities may reduce the risk of death. In this work, Tin (II) sulfide films have been deposited on glass, Indium Tin Oxide, and Fluorinated Tin Oxide substrates at the deposition angles of 0º, 65º, and 85º using Physical Vapor Deposition method equipped with Glancing Angle Deposition technique. Based on the results obtained from the X-ray diffraction technique, the crystalline structure of substrates and the angle of depositions along with their effects on the structure of SnS nano-plates have been investigated. Using Raman analysis, the phonons lifetime of the samples was found to change with the type of substrate and the employed deposition angle. Based Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis, the atomic ratio of Sn to S was observed to change with the change of deposition angle, substrate type and variation the diameter of nano-plates. This phenomenon resulted the formation of the second phase of Sn 2 S 3 which was confirmed by Raman and X-ray diffraction patterns. The nano-sheets-like growth of all the samples has been confirmed using Felid Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy analysis. For further morphological studies, the Atomic Force Microscopy analysis has been applied, by which the direct relation between the substrate roughness and the final structure of the samples has been observed. In this paper, the impact of different metals (Ag, Pt and Au) on the ZnO/metal/ZnO samples, being coated on a Glass substrate via RF/DC magnetron sputtering system, is investigated. The structural, optical, and thermal properties of the as-prepared samples were systematically studied for the purpose of storage and production of energy in industry. Our results show that these layers can be used as suitable coatings on building windows for energy storage applications. In the same experimental conditions, the case of Au as the intermediate layer has shown to have better optical and electrical conditions. Then the Pt layer also led to further improvement of the properties of the samples rather than those of the Ag. Moreover, the ZnO/Au/ZnO sample has shown the highest transmittance at the visible region (68.95%) and the highest FOM (5.1 × 10 -4 Ω -1 ). Therefore, it can be considered as relatively the optimum sample in order for the building windows to save energy because of its low U-value (2.16 W/cm 2 K) and low emissivity (0.45). Finally, by applying the equivalent voltage of 12 V at the ends of the sample, the surface temperature of sample has risen from 24 to 120 °C., (© 2022. The Author(s).)
