This study focuses on solving the geometric nonlinear dynamic equations of structures using the multi-point iterative methods within the optimal three-step composite time integration method (OTCTIM). The OTCTIM, initially devised for linear dynamic systems, is now proposed to encompass nonlinear dynamic systems in such a way that the semi-static nonlinear equations in time sub-steps can be solved using multi-point methods. The Weerakoon–Fernando method (WFM), Homeier method (HM), Jarrat method (JM), and Darvishi–Barati method (DBM) have been extended as multi-point solvers for nonlinear equations in OTCTIM, which exhibit a higher convergence order than the Newton–Raphson method (NRM), without requiring the calculation of second and higher derivatives. Several structural examples were solved to examine the performance of these methods in the OTCTIM approach. The results demonstrated that the multi-point iterative methods outperform NRM (in terms of the number of iterations) within the OTCTIM for geometric nonlinear structural dynamics and, among the multi-point methods, the JM and DBM converged with fewer number of iterations and lower error levels. Furthermore, it has been observed that when solving nonlinear dynamic equations for structures with a high number of degrees of freedom, the incorporation of the DBM into the OTCTIM mitigates the convergence iterations and the average elapsed time for iterative sub-steps. In recent decades, shells made of composite materials have been used in modern structures under impact load. Multi-Layer Composites (MLC) and Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) are the upgrades of composites that have been considered due to their suitable mechanical properties such as high resistance to weight ratio, flexibility and impact resistance. In this research, geometric nonlinear dynamic behavior on multilayer composite cylindrical shells with FGM core under impact load has been analyzed; because it is necessary to know how structures made of these materials behave under such loads. For this purpose, the effect of FGM core volume fraction index and the effective parameters of multi-layer composites such as the angles of the layers and the number of layers have been investigated. The results of this study show that by increasing the volume fraction index, the maximum displacement of the shell decreases. The maximum displacement occurs in the CFC (CFRP/FGM/CFRP) shell with pure metal FGM and the minimum displacement occurs in the GFG shell with pure ceramic FGM. Evaluation of the different positions of the layers shows that selecting a 15-degree positioning angle causes less displacement and also decreases the displacement as the number of layers increases. A 1 × 4 array of printed dipole antenna (PDA) with a broadband rhomboid artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) is introduced. A suggested PDA using a pair of microstrip dipoles with unequal arms excited by a T‐shaped microstrip feedline expands the bandwidth in the measured range of 5.27–6.74 GHz. Then, the suggested 3 × 3 AMC reflector is inserted into the PDA to exhibit −10 dB measured impedance bandwidth from 4.20 to 7.11 GHz for WLAN and WiMAX applications. The suggested PDA with AMC compared to the PDA without AMC exhibits a size reduction of 46.72%, enhanced gain up to 8.4 dBi, and excellent impedance matching with unidirectional radiation patterns. The novel AMC unit cell operates at 6.20 GHz with an AMC bandwidth of 5.09–7.21 GHz. Also, by loading a 3 × 8 AMC periodic array on a FR4 substrate with 3 mm thickness underneath the four‐element array of PDA with a gap distance of 3 mm, a low‐profile wideband structure with enhanced radiation properties is achieved. The measured S‐parameters show the broad bandwidth from 4.26 to 7.28 GHz with enhanced gains and efficiencies of all elements. Besides, the suitable isolation between the array elements of more than 30 dB for multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) systems is achieved by applying various polarized directions of PDAs and loading the 3 × 8 periodic AMC reflector. Finally, the proposed MIMO design introduces remarkable advantages of good size reduction and bandwidth enhancement, low‐profile antenna with high stable gain, high efficiency and large isolation, and unidirectional radiation patterns with reduced backside direction. In this paper, effects of spatial placement of square nanowires (NWs) on the performance of NW solar cells are investigated. These solar cells consist of the laterally assembled core-shell crystalline-silicon/amorphous-silicon (c-Si/a-Si) NWs. Single square NWs exhibit strong optical antenna effects, which result in the enhanced absorption for special frequencies. However, for the array of NWs, the absorption enhancement is the result of a compromise between the optical antenna and diffraction effects. In this paper, we have used a semi-periodic arrangement of square core-shell c-Si/a-Si NWs. This allows exploiting the maximum capacity of the diffraction and optical antenna effects in an array of these nanostructures. In this paper, effects of geometry and spatial placement of quadrangle silicon nanowires (NWs) on the performance of laterally assembled NW solar cells are investigated. Two different approaches are proposed to reach the broadband absorption enhancement in these types of solar cells. In the first method, a semi-periodic array is used to have a better utilization of the optical antenna effect. The current density can be enhanced as a result of a compromise between the diffraction and optical antenna effects. In the second approach, multiple NWs with different geometries are employed to use the cavity modes of the various NWs. The best current density is achieved for the combination of both of these methods. The different parameters in each structure are selected using the optimization algorithm. Finally, a multilayer structure with the optimized dimensions is proposed to obtain the maximum achievable current density in ultrathin solar cells. The broadband absorption enhancement in the proposed structure is preserved for a wide range of incident angles. Using the multilayer NW arrays, it is possible to improve the absorption enhancement of solar cells without introducing more absorbing material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effects of geometry and horizontal positioning of ultrathin triangular silicon nanowires (SiNWs) on the function of solar cells (SCs) have been investigated. Two differentiated methods have been presented to improve the current density of SiNW-SCs. First, a semiperiodic array is used for better utilization of the optical antenna effect. In the second method, several NWs with different geometries are used to achieve broadband absorption. The key to increase absorption is irregularity. Therefore, maximum light absorption is achieved by introducing irregular NWs. A set of optimized irregular NWs have better properties compared to other broadband structures. Using irregular NW arrays, the increase in the absorption of SCs can be improved without applying more absorbent materials. In this paper, a perfect absorber (PA) based on tungsten is proposed to include hexagonal‐shaped metasurface absorbers with varying hole sizes ranging from quadrangular to circular, allowing them to cover a wide wavelength spectrum. The study investigates the effects of various parameters, including the number of sides of the inner hole, on the absorber's performance and identifies the most suitable absorber by introducing an equivalent circuit. The outcomes of full‐wave numerical simulations primarily based on the finite element method (FEM) highly correspond to the final results of the circuit model. Additionally, the circuit model significantly reduces computation time and requires less storage compared with full‐wave simulations. The results show that the hexagonal‐square metasurface absorber achieves exceptional absorption rates, with an average of 99.9% in the 431 to 532 nm wavelength range and over 90% in the 300 to 915 nm range. The hexagonal‐hexagonal metasurface absorber also exhibits high absorption rates, with an average of over 99% in the 431 to 518 nm and 700 to 780 nm ranges, and over 90% in the 300 to 940 nm range. The absorption performance of the proposed hexagonal‐circle metasurface absorber is also remarkable, with an absorption value of over 99% in the 670 to 771 nm range and above 90% in the 365 to 991 nm range. These models can be utilized to design and simulate other subwavelength absorbers in a broad frequency range, including terahertz and visible light, making them suitable for various applications.
