Objective: To compare the efficacy of trans-septal suturing technique with conventional nasal packing in septoplasty surgery in terms of frequency of severe post-operative pain. Material and Methods: This randomized control trial was conducted at ENT department, Allied Hospital, Faisalabad over six months from January 2016 to June 2016. 60 patients with symptomatic deviated nasal septum were randomly divided into groups X and Y representing the nasal packing group and trans-septal suturing group respectively. Classic septoplasty was performed in all patients. All patients were evaluated for post-operative pain on visual analogue scale at 1st postoperative day. Results: There were 30 (50 %) males and 30 (50%) females among a total of 60 patients. 18 year to 45 year was age range having mean age of 29 year. In our study, comparison of frequency of severe post-operative pain shows that 90% (n=27) in Group-X and 16.67% (n=5) in Group-Y had severe post-operative pain, Calculated p-value was 0.000 exhibiting a significant difference. Conclusion: Efficacy of trans-septal suturing technique is significantly higher when compared with conventional nasal packing in septoplasty surgery in terms of frequency of severe post-operative pain. Objective: To evaluate the results of Endoscopic Endonasal Dacryocystorhinostomy (EE-DCR) in terms of anatomical and subjective success rate and complications encountered. Study Design: A retrospective Descriptive study Place and Duration: ENT Department of Al-Nafees medical college hospital (ANMCH) Islamabad, from 10th April 2010 to 22nd January 2019. Methodology: Data was recovered from patient hospital record of ANMCH. Patients who presented with epiphora due to distal naso-lacrimal duct obstruction were included in this study whereas those with lid mal-position, pre lacrimal sac obstruction, post facial trauma nasolacrimal duct obstruction, age less than 18 years and post-operative follow up of less than 8 months were excluded. Results of surgery in terms of anatomical and subjective success and associated complications were noted in Performa. Results: Data retrieved from the hospital records of 103 patients who had 106 EE-DCR procedures were included in study. Male to female ratio was 1: 6. Majority of patients (61.3%) were in 18-40 years of age group. Anatomical success was achieved in 96.2% patients. Subjective success was achieved in 95.3% patients. Major complications encountered were Tube displacement in 9.4%, Ecchymosis in 6.6%, detachment of DCR tube from probe in 3.7%, Nasal Adhesions in 2.8% and Hemorrhage in 2.8%. Background:.To compare intranasal Fluticasone furoate spray with oral anti-histamine and antileukotriene therapy in allergic rhinitis in terms of change in mean nasal symptoms score. Methods: In this randomized control trial two groups were selected having 40 patients in each group. To group (A) cetirizine 10 mg plus montelukast 10 mg once daily was prescribed and to group (B) Fluticasone Furoate nasal spray 110 mcg once daily was prescribed for 6 months.Patients were called for follow up visits 4 times, 1st after 2 weeks then after every two months. On every follow-up visit .Total nasal symptoms scores were registered. Final outcome was measured on 4th visit. Results: After six months follow up, the minimum total nasal symptom score was calculated as 0.50 and maximum total nasal symptom score was calculated as 2.88 with mean ± SD as 1.62 ± 0.69. There were 45% male and 55% were female. In group A, the mean ±SD was 2.21 ± 0.38 whereas in group B the mean ±SD was 1.04 ± 0.33. Significant difference was found between study groups for the AR having pvalue 0.001.Significant difference of mean change in symptoms was found in both groups with p-value = 0.000 in age group < 40 years. In age group ≥ 40 years, significant difference of mean change in symptoms was found in both groups with p-value = 0.000. Conclusion: Fluticasone furoate nasal spray was more effective than combined oral anti-histamines and leukotriene receptor antagonists in allergic rhinitis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Parapharyngeal Space Tumors (PPST) being uncommon, constitute some 0.5% of Head & Neck Neoplasms. Pleomorphic adenomas in parapharyngeal space (PPS) are commonly of primary parotid gland origin, however, very rarely minor salivary gland pleomorphic adenomas may occur and arise from ectopic minor salivary tissue in parapharyngeal space. Treatment is complete surgical excision and conventionally wide surgical approaches like trans cervical approach are utilized. We report a rare case of a large pleomorphic adenoma of minor salivary gland in the right parapharyngeal space and treated with complete surgical removal done by transoral route without any complication and recurrence. Nasal Chondromesenchymal Hamartoma (NCMH) was first described by McDermott et al., in 1998. It is a very uncommon benign mass arising in the sinonasal area. Forty-eight cases of NCMH have been reported including 6 cases of adult presentation. It mostly occurs in younger age group with median age of 7 years. In this article, we report a rare case of Nasal Chondromesenchymal hamartoma (NCMH) in 17-years-old male who presented to us with persistent headache.
