Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) and Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) might serve as migraine biomarkers due to their roles in migraine pathophysiology. However, their diagnostic usefulness has not been explored yet. Present study explored the diagnostic accuracy of CGRP and ApoE in migraine.Methods: A cross-sectional, case–control study was conducted from November 2019 to April 2020 at Physiology department of our university. Fourteen female migraine patients, 18– 25 years old, with confirmed “Migraine” diagnosis by a neurologist, were recruited. Control group consisted of 14 age-matched healthy females with no personal/family history of migraine. Abstract

A single crystal X-ray structurally characterized amide–imine conjugate (GAN) derived from gallic acid and naphthalene selectively recognizes La3+ ions via TURN ON fluorescence through ESIPT and CHEF mechanisms. GAN can detect as low as 23.93 × 10−9 M La3+ ions and image intracellular La3+ ions in live HeLa and SiHa cells under a fluorescence microscope in a time- and concentration dependent manner. The corresponding [La(III)–GAN] complex is established as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives from o-phenylenediamine and substituted benzaldehydes. Moreover, GAN is very useful for enrichment of La3+ in ethyl acetate medium. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common disease that affects different age groups, ranging from mild to severe. For a patient with severe atopic dermatitis, systemic treatment options are limited and only one biological treatment is available: dupilumab. Dupilumab was initially approved by FDA for the treatment of adults with AD and recently approved for the treatment of adolescents with AD. As with approving other medications, some side effects are not reported before phase III trials. 11. Unicentric Castleman's Disease with an Unusual Clinical Behavior.

Abstract

Castleman's disease is a rare clinicopathological condition characterized by hyperplasia of lymph nodes. We report the case of a 12-year-old boy who presented with painful oral and genital ulcers, who was assumed to have Behçet's disease. However, the patient did not show any clinical improvement on colchicine and systemic corticosteroids. Later, the patient developed severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Abdominal CT revealed a mass lesion superior to the right kidney. After a thorough investigation, he was diagnosed with unicentric Castleman's disease. Despite the complete resection of the mass, the patient continued to have the symptoms of abdominal pain and orogenital ulcers. Immunomodulatory therapy resulted in remarkable clinical improvement.
