Abstract Introduction Cervical cancer presents a significant global public health challenge, particularly affecting low- and middle-income countries like Egypt. Despite the availability of effective screening methods such as Pap smears and HPV testing, the incidence of cervical cancer remains high in Egypt. Health literacy, which refers to the ability to access, understand, and utilize basic health information and services to make informed decisions, is crucial in influencing individuals’ health behaviors, including their participation in cancer screening programs. Objectives To examine the correlation between health literacy levels and cervical cancer screening behaviors among women. Methods This study employed a multi-site cross-sectional research design from September 2023 to January 2024. The research was conducted at four primary health care (PHC) facilities in the Damanhur district of Egypt. Three hundred fifty women participated in the study, completing a comprehensive questionnaire that included a Woman’s Social and Health Form, a Cervical Cancer Knowledge Scale, a Cervical Cancer Screening Behaviors Scale, and a Health Literacy Scale (HLS-SF12). Abstract The increasing prevalence of chronic illnesses among the elderly affects their physical and psychological well-being, contributing to emotional burdens and feelings of burdensomeness. This study aims to investigate the mediating and moderating role of social support in the relationship between psychological well-being and burdensomeness among elderly individuals with chronic illnesses. A cross-sectional descriptive design was employed, involving 311 participants aged 60 and older, recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated instruments via structured interviews conducted from June to August 2024. The results indicate that perceived burdensomeness has a strong negative effect on psychological well-being (r = -0.654). Social support significantly mediates this relationship, with higher social support associated with lower burdensomeness (β = -0.646) and improved psychological well-being (β = 0.318). Strengthening social support networks can mitigate feelings of burdensomeness and promote mental health, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for older adults facing chronic health challenges.

Abstract Background Monkeypox has emerged as a global health concern, necessitating preventive measures and awareness among healthcare students. Understanding nursing students’ fears, concerns, and preventive practices regarding Monkeypox can help improve preparedness and response strategies. Aim This study aimed to assess the levels of fear, concerns, and preventive practices related to monkeypox among nursing students at Beni Suef University, Egypt, during the 2024–2025 academic year. Methods A cross-sectional descriptive design was employed, involving 505 nursing students systematically randomized recruited. Data collection utilized three validated tools: the Monkeypox Fear Scale, Monkeypox Concern Scale, and Monkeypox Preventive Practices Scale. Reliability was confirmed with Cronbach’s alpha values ranging from 0.87 to 0.94. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation, and multiple linear regression using SPSS Version 23. Results Most (56.2%) students rarely worried about Monkeypox infection, though 49.2% reported anxiety influenced by media coverage. Abstract Background Caregivers of pediatric cancer patients often face significant stress and emotional strain, which can negatively impact their well-being and the quality of care provided to their children. Understanding the socio-demographic factors influencing caregiver stress and identifying the specific needs and resources required by caregivers are crucial for improving support systems in pediatric cancer care. Aim of the study This study aimed to analyze the levels of caregiver stress and their resource needs within pediatric cancer care. Methods A cross-sectional descriptive design was used, and the study was conducted at El-Minia Oncology Center outpatient clinics, Egypt. Abstract Aim To assess food and nutrition literacy status and its determinants among elementary school students in El-Beheira Governorate, Egypt. Background Developing strategies to enhance food and nutrition literacy necessitates a deeper understanding of the food and nutrition literacy situation among elementary school students and associated factors. Design A cross-sectional descriptive research design was adopted. Methods A final sample of 400 primary school students (aged 6–12 years) at Itay El Barud public elementary schools in El-Beheira Governorate were administered (1) a socio-demographic characteristics and anthropometric measurements questionnaire developed by the researchers, and (2) the Food and Nutrition Literacy Scale. The derived data were analyzed using descriptive and non-parametric tests. Results The majority (61%) of students had low food and nutrition literacy scores. The results have shown that overall socio-demographic variables were significant in predicting understanding food and nutrition information, nutritional health knowledge, interactive functional and nutritional literacy, critical food and nutritional literacy, and food labeling. Conclusion The study reveals that elementary school students in Egypt have poor knowledge and skills in food and nutrition literacy, largely due to a lack of nutrition education and family awareness. Factors like residential location, income, and education level also contribute to this disparity. Implications for the profession To improve nutrition literacy among students, a nursing approach involving community stakeholders and school nurses is recommended. This includes integrating nutrition-related topics into the school curriculum, organizing workshops, and conducting age-appropriate health education sessions. Active engagement between community health and school nurses is crucial for raising awareness about healthy nutritional choices. Impact These findings hold an important impact on the education system and those designing curricula, emphasizing the need for significant incorporation of knowledge and skills related to food and nutrition within schools. Abstract Background Menstrual pain, or dysmenorrhea, can cause physical discomfort and mood swings, potentially impacting the attitudes of female nursing students toward marriage. Effective emotion regulation strategies are essential for managing stress and shaping their perspectives on marriage. This study sought to investigate the relationship between dysmenorrhea, emotional regulation skills, and attitudes toward marriage among female nursing students. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a stratified sample of 504 female nursing students from four academic years. The study used a combination of the Working Ability, Location, Intensity, Days of Pain, Dysmenorrhea (WaLIDD) Questionnaire, the Marital Attitude Scale, and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire to assess various factors among the participants. The Pearson correlation coefficient was utilized to examine the relationships among the three primary variables. Additionally, linear regression analysis was employed to forecast attitudes toward marriage based on factors such as dysmenorrhea, residence, family type, regularity of the menstrual cycle, and age at menarche. Results The findings of the study are significant, revealing a negative correlation between dysmenorrhea and marital attitudes (r = -0.105, p = 0.019). Dysmenorrhea exhibited minimal and non-significant correlations with emotion regulation strategies, including cognitive reappraisal (r = -0.006, p = 0.898) and expressive suppression (r = 0.013, p = 0.774). Introduction Smartphones have significantly increased digital engagement among young people due to their ease of use and constant internet access. Nomophobia and the fear of missing out are associated with mobile and internet use, potentially impacting students’ mental health and academic performance. Objectives To provide the prevalence of nomophobia and fear of missing out while shedding light on the role of psychological alienation between them. Methods A multisite descriptive correlational study was conducted among 1,273 undergraduate nursing students at six Egyptian universities: North Sinai, South Sinai, Port-Said, Suez Canal, Suez, and Damanhur University, Egypt. From June 2023 to November 15, 2023, the students were surveyed using questionnaires on nomophobia, fear of missing out, and psychological alienation. Results Nursing students experienced moderate to severe levels of nomophobia (37.4%–45.3%) and psychological alienation (45.8%–55.4%). Abstract Background Recognizing nurses as pivotal change agents and urgent preparation for the next generation is crucial for addressing sustainability issues and cultivating a sustainable healthcare system. Reports highlight gaps in the integration of sustainable development goals (SDGs) into nursing curricula, prompting the International Council of Nurses to stress the importance of sustainable development in nursing education. The extent to which nursing students are aware of sustainability issues remains to be determined. This study addresses a global and Egyptian research gap by evaluating and comparing Sustainability Consciousness (SC) levels among nursing students at three universities, providing insights into awareness, attitudes, and behaviors related to sustainability. Methods This descriptive comparative study was conducted across three nursing faculties within three Egyptian public universities. The target population for this study was undergraduate nursing students enrolled in these universities during the academic year 2022-2023. This study used the extended version of the Sustainability Consciousness Questionnaire (SCQ-L) to measure individuals' knowingness, attitudes, and behaviors related to the three dimensions of sustainable development: environmental, social, and economic. Results More than half of the nursing students across the three universities expressed unfamiliarity with the SDGs. Social media was the most common source of information across the three universities. Sohag University recorded the highest median (IQR) scores in sustainability knowingness (72.0, IQR: 70.0-81.0), attitudes (56.0, IQR: 53.0-61.5), and behavior (65.0, IQR: 60.0-69.0) across their respective dimensions, as well as in overall SC (195, IQR: 184.5-208.5). This was followed by Damanhour University, with a median score of 179.0 (IQR: 124.5-194), and then Alexandria University, with a median score of 116.0 (IQR: 85.5-153), all of which were significantly different (all with p values=0.000). Older students from rural areas exhibited higher SC median scores, while students with insufficient family income and no familiarity with the SDGs had lower SC scores. Conclusions This study highlighted the prevalent reliance on social media for information among nursing students across these universities, emphasizing the pivotal role of academic institutions in integrating sustainability development concepts in nursing education. Sohag University's notable commitment to sustainability practices has contributed to the higher SC of its students compared to Alexandria and Damanhour Universities. The study also identified age, place of residence, family income, and familiarity with the SDGs as consistent predictors of sustainability consciousness.
