Rapid urbanization and growth of population in megacities generate severe pressures on urban rail transit (URT) system. The quantity and frequency of disruptive events have increased significantly, which might have obvious adverse impacts. A large number of passengers are stranded at disrupted URT station when a disruptive event occurs. One essential solution for passenger evacuation is the bus bridging service. This paper is aimed at addressing the passenger evacuation problem caused by a disruptive event in the URT network, by proposing a bus bridging service model considering the passengers' space-time requirements. The model is proposed to minimize the waiting time of passengers and considers factors including bus service capacity limitations, bus stop parking capacity, and the maximum bridging time limit of a single bus. Buses are assumed to provide bridging service on either the local bus route or the direct bus route. The optimal routes and scheduling plans of bridging bus are designed. The model is applied to an example of a disruptive event in Shanghai URT line 9. The results of this example show that the proposed model is capable of reducing the waiting time of passengers and the number of buses used by 3.2% and 24.7%, compared with the traditional bus bridging service. Further analysis of the example shows that it is not a cost-effective solution to reserve a large number of buses for URT disruption. In this paper, a thermodynamically consistent phase-field model is employed to simulate the thermocapillary migration of a droplet. The model equations consist of a general Navier–Stokes equation for the two-phase flows, a Cahn–Hilliard equation for the diffuse interface, and a heat equation, and meanwhile satisfy the balance laws of mass, energy and entropy. In particular, the total energy of the system includes kinetic energy, potential energy and internal energy, which leads to a highly coupled and nonlinear equation system. We therefore develop a linear mass and energy conserving, semi-decoupled numerical method for the numerical simulations. As the model contains a heat (energy) equation, a simple error term introduced by the temporal discretization of the momentum equation can be absorbed into the heat equation, such that the numerical solutions satisfy the conservation laws of mass and energy exactly at the temporal discrete level. Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of carbon ion and proton therapies for pancreatic cancer (PaC). Methods The databases were electronically searched to collect the studies about the carbon ion and proton therapies for PaC from inception to June 2019. Two reviewers independently screened literature and extracted data. A Meta-analysis was performed by STATA 12.0 and MetaAnalyst Beta 3.13 software. Results A total of 8 studies involving 459 PaC patients were included. The incidence of grade 2, 3 and 5 gastrointestinal (GI) ulcer toxicities in PaC patients treated with carbon ion and proton therapies were 7%, 2% and 0; the incidence of grade 2, 3 and 4 anorexia toxicities were 6%, 3.2% and 0; the 1- and 2-year OS rates were 77% and 45%; the 2-year local control (LC), 1-year freedom from local progression (FFLP) and 1-year local recurrence(LR) rates were 81%, 88% and 15%. The incidence of grade 2, 3, 2-3 GI ulcer toxicities in carbon ion and proton therapies for PaC were 6.8%, 1.5%, 9.2% and 3.5%, 8.3%, 6.1% (P < 0.05); and the 1- and 2-year OS were 77.1%, 44.4% and 77.6%, 49.7% (P > 0.05). Conclusion Carbon ion and proton therapies for PaC are safe and effective; and the security and effectiveness of the two methods are similar.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of carbon ion and proton therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by Meta-analysis. Methods PubMed, The Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Chinese Journal Full-text, Chinese Biomedical Literature and Wanfang Database were searched to collect relevant clinical studies on carbon ion and proton therapy for HCC. Two reviewers independently screened the literature and extracted data based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Meta-analysis was carried out by Stata 12.0. Results We included 7 carbon ion and 23 proton therapy studies. According to the combined results, both carbon ion and proton therapies for HCC obtained good local control rate and low adverse reactions, and the incidence of severe adverse reactions was low. Subgroup analysis showed that carbon ion and proton therapies improved the 5-year OS of HCC patients with either favorable or poor prognosis. Conclusion Both carbon ion and proton therapies may be the effective alternative treatment options for HCC with favorable prognosis, and also show better efficacy for HCC patients with poor prognosis.

After the occurrence of a disruptive event in an urban rail transit (URT) network, passengers' travel is affected, and a large number of passengers are stranded in the stations. These stranded passengers have to be evacuated urgently. With its flexible deployment, a bus bridging service has become an effective solution to evacuate stranded passengers. In order to avoid large passenger flow at stations, in addition to evacuating the static passenger flow stranded at the disrupted stations, the bridging buses need to focus on the dynamic passenger flow arriving at the turnover stations along the short-turning trains. In this paper, we propose a mathematical model to optimize the timetable and vehicle scheduling of bridging buses considering the adjustment of rail transit operations. The model aims to minimize passenger waiting time, the number of lost passengers, and the amount of bridging buses used. The model makes buses operate flexibly on different routes, taking the bus capacity and number of buses into account. By creating an improved ε-constraint method, the Pareto front of the problem is solved using the model with a commercial solver. Finally, the accuracy and validity of the model is verified by applying an example based on China's Hangzhou rail transit line 4. The results show that the bridging bus timetable and scheduling plan generated by the model effectively solved the problem of large passenger flow at turnover stations. In addition, compared with bridging buses with an even headway timetable, the results demonstrate that bridging buses with an uneven headway timetable, which considers coordination with rail transit, could reduce the passenger waiting time and the number of lost passengers. The model has better performance with an uneven headway timetable in the face of large passenger demand. The computational experiment shows that the total passenger waiting time and the number of bridging buses was reduced when the bus capacity was increased. Compliant thermoelectric generators (TEGs) hold great promise in the field of self‐powered wearable electronics. Yet, the low heat transfer efficiency arising from large thermal resistance between elastic encapsulating materials and the contacted objects severely lowers the thermopower. This issue is much more challenging for organic TEG (oTEG) due to the high parasitic heat loss in the whole polymer system. Herein, guided by finite element analyses, a polydimethylsiloxane based composite coated with Cu is developed as a thermal interface without compromising the compliance of the oTEG, which possesses the merits of high thermal conductivity and significantly reduced thermal resistance, thus maximizing the temperature difference utilization ratio to 86%, which is 75.5% higher than for a routine oTEG. As a proof‐of‐concept, 50 pairs of p/n porous polyurethane/single‐wall carbon nanotube TE legs are integrated onto the designed substrate without further encapsulation. Both simulations and experiments on output performance under various thermal conditions are carried out, and show excellent agreement. The in situ output performance tests under various deformation conditions reveal the mechanical robustness of the oTEG. Finally, an oTEG functioning as a body heat harvester and an environment temperature sensor are demonstrated. The outstanding performances unambiguously demonstrate the success of the thermal interface design strategy for promoting oTEGs applied as wearable electronics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Small bowel obstruction (SBO) is common and usually requires surgical intervention. Intestinal plication is a traditional but critical strategy for SBO in certain scenarios. This study is to compare the short-term and long-term outcome between internal and external plications in the management of SBO.Methods: All patients receiving intestinal plication in our hospital were retrospectively collected. Short-term outcome including postoperative complications, reoperation, postoperative ICU stay, starting day of liquid diet and postoperative hospitalization, as well as long-term outcome including recurrence of obstruction, readmission, reoperation and death were compared between groups. Gut function at annual follow-up visits was evaluated as well.Results: Nine internal and 11 external candidates were recruited into each group. The major causes of plication were adhesive obstruction, abdominal cocoon, volvulus and intussusception. Lower incidence of postoperative complication (p = 0.043) and shorter postoperative hospitalization (p = 0.049) was observed in internal group. One patient receiving external plication died from anastomosis leakage. During the 5-year follow-up period, the readmission rate was low in both groups (22.2 % vs. 9.1 %), and none of patients required reoperation or deceased. None of patients exhibited gut dysfunction, and all patients restored normal gut function after 4 years. Patients in external group demonstrated accelerated recovery of gut function after surgery.Conclusions: This study compares short-term and long-term outcome of patients receiving internal or external intestinal plication. We suggest a conservative attitude toward external plication strategy. Surgical indication for intestinal plication is critical and awaits future investigations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aimed to explore the characteristics of the top-100 cited articles on the biomarkers in the depression field and strive to find the future trend. The top-100 cited articles were selected from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Excel 2016 and VOSviewer 1.6.9 were used to analyze the information. Forty-six journals contributed to these 100 articles, and Biological Psychiatry published the largest number of articles (n = 18). Holsboer F (n = 4) contributed the most, and Maes M (n = 118) was the most co-cited author. Twenty-six countries and 220 organizations contributed to the top-100 articles, respectively. The USA (n = 48) was the main contributor. NIMH and Kings Coll London both participated in seven articles. Major depression (n = 62), depression (n = 38) and biomarker (n = 31) were the top three keywords. These results indicated that articles published in journals with higher impact factors are more likely to spread. Compared with developing countries, developed countries have contributed more to these articles. It is suggested that cooperation should be strengthened between developed countries and developing counties in the future. More research on biomarkers in the depression field may still mainly focus on major depression. Abstract Background Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a blood borne infectious disease that affects the liver. Human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) may serve as a cell source for adult stem cell transplantation in liver repair. However, the susceptibility of human BMSCs to HBV infection is poorly understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the infection and replication of HBV in cultures of human BMSCs. Results Human BMSCs were confirmed using flow cytometry. Intracellular HBV DNA was detected at d 2 after infection and maintained at relatively high levels from d 6 to d 12. The maximal level of intracellular HBV DNA was 9.37 × 105 copies/mL. The extracellular HBV DNA was observed from d 3 to d 15, and the levels ranged from 3.792 × 102 copies/mL to 4.067 × 105 copies/mL. HBsAg in the culture medium was detected from d 2 to d 16. HBeAg secretion was positive from d 5 to d 13. HBcAg constantly showed positive signals in approximately 7%-20% of BMSCs from 2 days after exposure. Intracellular HBV covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) could be detected as early as 2 days postinfection, and strong signals were obtained with increasing time. Conclusion HBV can infect and replicate in human BMSCs. Human BMSCs may be a useful tool for investigating HBV life-cycle and the mechanism of initial virus-cell interactions.
