Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of the stretchable circuit deformation during a thermoforming process on its electrical performance for automotive lighting. The thermoforming process was carried out using a mould that was developed based on commercially available automotive lighting product. The circuit was printed on a 2-D thermoplastic substrate using screen printing technique before transformed into 3-D shape through the thermoforming process followed by LEDs assembly. The quality of the product were characterised before and after the thermoforming process by measuring the resistance and resistivity of the circuit. Voltage drops and luminance each of the LEDs resulted from the deformation of the circuit were compared with the current automotive lighting product. The study shows that the new design with stretchable material has similar performance with previous design in terms of electrical performance. These findings will encourage further development of new design of automotive lighting in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

8. A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON CANINE PARVOVIRUS INFECTION OF DOG IN BANGLADESH AND INDIA.

Abstract

A comparative study on Canine Parvovirus (CPV) infection among the hospitalized dogs at Central Veterinary Hospital (CVH) in Bangladesh and Veterinary College and Research Institute-Madras Veterinary College (VCRI-MVC) in India was conducted during a period of January and July 2015. A total of 270 (80 at CVH and 190 at VCRI-MVC) hospitalized dogs of different breeds were clinically examined. The key clinical signs observed among the CPV infected dogs were bloody diarrhoea (90.4%), vomition (94.5%) and dehydration (severe 85.7%, moderate 10.0% and mild 7.6%). The overall prevalence of CPV infection was higher in VCRI-MVC (42.7%) than CVH (31.2%). The prevalence of CPV was varied significantly (P<0.05) among different age groups, vaccinated and non-vaccinated dogs. Highest prevalence was found 1-3 months (48.7%) old dogs, in compare with 4-6 months (17.2%) and over 6 months (8.3%) old dogs. Highest prevalence was also found in nonvaccinated than vaccinated dogs at CVH, Bangladesh. In VCRI-MVC, India rate of infection also varied significantly (P<0.05) in different age groups (57.4%, 28.9%, 10.0% among 1-3 months, 4-6 months and> 6 months respectively) and 13.2% in vaccinated and 64.4% in non-vaccinated groups. Significant (P<0.05) variation in prevalence of CPV also observed in different breeds-indigenous (50.0%), Spitz (28.2%), Lhasa (18.1%), Doberman (40.0%) and German Shepherd (46.6%). 10. Influence of Laser Soldering Temperatures on Through-Hole Component

Abstract

The conventional method of selective soldering has been practiced using wave soldering, convection reflow, and hand soldering. However, due to industry automation and high demand for quality, repeatability and flexibility, laser soldering process has been developed to meet these demands. This article investigates the effect of different temperature of laser soldering process on lead-free solder (SAC305) by means of numerical method that is validated by experiment. Finite volume method (FVM) was used for the three-dimensional simulation to simulate the filling flow of the lead-free solder. Experiments were carried out to complement simulation validity and the results of both methods show good agreement. The findings show that a better result can be achieved when the angle of component lead (θle) approaches 90 deg. Using optimized lead angle, five different temperature simulations were set in the range of 550 K < T < 700 K. The finding shows that 600 K has the best velocity and pressure distributions with average values of 63.3 mm/s and 101.13 kPa, respectively. The high-pressure regions are concentrated at the top and bottom surface of solder pad. High difference in pressure and velocity spots somehow lead to issue associated with possibility of incomplete filling or void formation. 650 K model shows less void formation since it produces high pressure filling flow within the solder region.

13. Ovine paratuberculosis: a confirmed case of Johne's disease in Libya.

Abstract

Paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) was suspected in a herd of approximately 300 sheep after weight loss and scouring had increased in adult animals despite repeated treatment with anthelmintics, antibiotics, multivitamins and minerals. The herd is located near Tarhouna city. Herd history revealed that a total of 60 ewes showed clinical symptoms and deaths during the last two years. The last case that we attended was submitted to the National Center of Animal Health (NCAH) for a detailed laboratory examination. Gross pathological and histological examination of tissue samples revealed results that were highly comparable with Johne's disease. A definitive diagnosis was made only by histopathological identification of Mycobacterium paratuberculosis in the intestines using Ziehl-Neelsen stain. This is the first documented case of M. paratuberculosis in sheep in Libya.
