Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1) is a neuro-invasive virus causing lifelong latent infection in humans. It increases the risk of dementia by entering inside the brain. Herpesviruses have been implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD) development. More than 50 million people worldwide are affected by Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's disease is becoming more prevalent with the increase age-related neurodegenerative diseases, dementia, etc. Therefore, there is an urgent need for better understanding of the pathogenesis of AD as well as its early detection. HSV-1 is a risk factor of for the occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases, sporadic Alzheimer's disease, prior diagnosis of disease cycle of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 in brain tissue will help us to prevent AD in elderly patients. Serological assays were the first choice of detection including whole-antigen-based (non-gG-specific) methods and western blotting (WB) assays, but quantitative PCR (qPCR) & genomic sequencing has shown better efficiency. Recently RNAscope, a novel in situ RNA hybridization assay is developed to visualize and detect the multiple phases of HSV-1. In this review, we discussed about early detection of tau and β-amyloid protein which are biomarkers of AD and track the deposition of amyloid plaques reminiscent in brain. We also discussed the current work on HSV detection through RNAscope hybridization technique & summarized the role of dietary habits as a precautionary measure of the infection as well as anthropological diversification of dementia in India and factors influencing it. In the current research, Global Positioning System (GPS) based 121 surface soil samples were collected and analyzed in the laboratory for different soil fertility parameters. The results showed that the bulk density (BD) of soils of 1.39 Mg m−3, dark gray and grayish brown, sandy clay loam, neutral to slightly alkaline soil reaction (pH), safe in electrical conductivity (EC), low to medium in organic carbon (OC) and non-calcareous in nature. The nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and sulfur (S) were analyzed as low, medium, high and low with NI of 1.26, 2.19, 2.69 and 1.31, respectively. In the Farm, field (F) wise, OC, N, P, K and S content in soil varied from 4.89 (F20) to 7.33 g kg−1(F15), 196.71 (F20) to 264.25 kg ha−1 (F15), 4.10 (F19) to 27.04 kg ha−1 (F16), 292.72 (F2) to 674.80 kg ha−1 (F13) and 3.99 (F18) to 13.75 mg kg−1 (F13), respectively. Post hoc results also revealed that fields and land use types were significantly different. Ordinary Kriging in Geo-statistical tools revealed that the exponential model was best fitted for, N, P, K, OC, √CaCO3 and √K, which exhibited moderate spatial dependence (>25 but < 75%), whereas Gaussian model was used for BD, pH and CaCO3. Correlation ranges(m) for P was 717.57 m and exhibited strong spatial dependency (<25%). The J-Bessel model was used for EC and√EC. The spherical model was used for S which showed 57.95% spatial dependence. The spatial maps could be used as a basis for precision farming. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Weeds have emerged as a problem and their control is the most expensive input for sustainable organic crop production. We are constantly looking for ways to increase organic crop yields while using less energy and resources. The evaluation work was therefore undertaken from 2017-19 in an on-going trial commenced since 2016 under AICRP-WM (All India Coordinated Research Project on Weed Management) at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. There were ten treatments viz., hoeing, stale seed bed + hoeing, raised stale seed bed + hoeing, mulch, stale seed bed + mulch, raised stale seed bed + mulch, intercropping, crop rotation, intensive cropping and chemical check, tested in maize based cropping system. The highest green cob yield of maize was produced under the chemical check treatment (10323 kg/ha). Statistically equivalent green cob yield was produced under RSSB + hoeing, that was 9208 kg/ha. While considering the system as a whole, it was found that intercropping followed by chemical control and RSSB + hoeing produced the most energy from the crops' primary products. Crop rotation treatment combined with RSSB resulted in significantly greater energy use efficiency (12.3%). Intercropping had the highest energy intensity (2.39 MJ/rupees), followed closely by crop rotation (2.37 MJ/rupees), while SSB + hoeing had the lowest energy intensity (1.74 MJ/rupees). Background: Increasing demands of food, depleting land, degrading land resources and changing climate are some of the important factors driving the cropping systems of any agro-ecological zone in the world. Cropping systems have been traditionally structured to maximize crop yields. Now, there is a strong need to design cropping systems which take into consideration the emerging social, economical and ecological or environmental concerns. Legumes can provide opportunities for increased productivity to be sustained because of their adaptability to various cropping patterns and ability to fix nitrogen. Legume-based crop rotation helps to conserve organic matter, maximise soil nitrogen, balance soil nutrients, maintain soil physical properties and break soil-borne disease cycles. Moreover, with increasing fertilizer prices and emphasis of the government for doubling the farmer's income by reducing cost of cultivation, the current trend is to explore the possibility of supplementing chemical fertilizer with the organic ones, more particularly organic manures and bio-fertilizer of microbial origin. The current study is aimed to increase small and marginal farmer's income and to reduce cost of cultivation through legume based vegetable cropping systems and to find out best farming practices. Methods: Field experiments were conducted at Organic Farm Holta, Department of Organic Agriculture and Natural farming, CSK HPKV, Palampur (H.P.) during kharif and rabi seasons of 2018-19 and 2019-20 on silty clay loam soil to study the performance of different farming practices in legume based cropping system under mid-hills of H.P. Himalayas. The experiment was laid out under Split plot design with three replications comprising of three sequences in legume vegetable-based cropping systems i.e., "Soybean-Onion", "Okra-Pea" and "Mash-Garlic" under different farming practices i.e., Organic farming, Natural farming, Inorganic and Integrated farming practices. For comparison of different crops soybean equivalent yield and pea equivalent yields were calculated in kharif and rabi seasons, respectively. Result: In kharif seasons okra crop attained highest soybean equivalent yield followed by soybean and mash crop. In rabi seasons garlic crop attained highest pea grain equivalent yield followed by onion and pea crop. During both kharif seasons organic farming practices attained highest yield and was at par with integrated farming practices. Significantly highest yield was attained from integrated farming practices and was at par with organic farming practices in both rabi seasons. Highest net returns, net returns per rupee attained was in inorganic farming system. Highest cost of cultivation was found in organic farming practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
