The spin of an electron confined in semiconductor quantum dots is currently a promising candidate for quantum bit (qubit) implementations. Taking advantage of existing CMOS integration technologies, such devices can offer a platform for large scale quantum computation. However, a quantum mechanical framework bridging a device's physical design and operational parameters to the qubit energy space is lacking. Furthermore, the spin to charge coupling introduced by intrinsic or induced Spin-Orbit-Interaction (SOI) exposes the qubits to charge noise compromising their coherence properties and inducing quantum gate errors. We present here a co-modelling framework for double quantum dot (DQD) devices and their charge noise environment. We use a combination of an electrostatic potential solver, full configuration interaction quantum mechanical methods and two-level-fluctuator models to study the quantum gate performance in realistic device designs and operation conditions. We utilize the developed models together alongside the single electron solutions of the quantum dots to simulate one- and two- qubit gates in the presence of charge noise. We find an inverse correlation between quantum gate errors and quantum dot confinement frequencies. We calculate X-gate fidelities >97% in the simulated Si-MOS devices at a typical TLF densities. We also find that exchange driven two-qubit SWAP gates show higher sensitivity to charge noise with fidelities down to 91% in the presence of the same density of TLFs. We further investigate the one- and two- qubit gate fidelities at different TLF densities. We find that given the small size of the quantum dots, sensitivity of a quantum gate to the distance between the noise sources and the quantum dot creates a strong variability in the quantum gate fidelities which can compromise the device yields in scaled qubit technologies., Comment: 37 pages , 24 figures

Larger arrays of electron spin qubits require radical improvements in fabrication and device uniformity. Here we demonstrate excellent qubit device uniformity and tunability from 300K down to mK temperatures. This is achieved, for the first time, by integrating an overlapping polycrystalline silicon-based gate stack in an 'all-Silicon' and lithographically flexible 300mm flow. Low-disorder Si/SiO$_2$ is proved by a 10K Hall mobility of $1.5 \cdot 10^4$ $cm^2$/Vs. Well-controlled sensors with low charge noise (3.6 $\mu$eV/$\sqrt{\mathrm{Hz}}$ at 1 Hz) are used for charge sensing down to the last electron. We demonstrate excellent and reproducible interdot coupling control over nearly 2 decades (2-100 GHz). We show spin manipulation and single-shot spin readout, extracting a valley splitting energy of around 150 $\mu$eV. We report on a flexible 300 mm process that optimally combines optical and electron beam lithography to fabricate silicon spin qubits. It enables on-the-fly layout design modifications while allowing devices with either n- or p-type ohmic implants, a pitch smaller than 100 nm, and uniform critical dimensions down to 30 nm with a standard deviation ~ 1.6 nm. Various n- and p-type qubits are characterized in a dilution refrigerator at temperatures ~ 10 mK. Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) poses a significant burden on both the healthcare systems as well as individuals. The high mortality rate of CRC may be attributed to its metastatic potential, heterogeneity, and delayed diagnosis. CircRNAs are an essential class of regulatory RNAs that play significant roles in cancers. This study aimed to detect the expression status of circ-SMARCA5, circ-NOL10, circ-LDLRAD3, and circ-RHOT1 in patients with CRC. This study included 50 CRC patients, 30 individuals with colorectal diseases (non-cancer), and 20 healthy volunteers. By using real-time PCR, the relative expression of circ-SMARCA5, circ-NOL10, circ-LDLRAD3, and circ-RHOT1 was determined in the collected blood samples. In addition, ECLIA was used to quantify carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level. All circRNAs expression and CEA levels were significantly up-regulated in cancer patients (CRC, colon, rectum) as compared to healthy controls, except circ-SMARCA5. Moreover, there was a significant up-regulation of circRNAs in most non-cancer patients (UC, polyp, piles). Insignificant upregulation was observed in circRNAs and CEA when comparing cancer with non-cancer patients. No correlations were found between the studied parameters and most clinicopathological characteristics of cancer and non-cancer patients. Circ-SMARCA5, circ-NOL10, circ-LDLRAD3, and circ-RHOT1 were differentially expressed in patients with CRC as well as in non-cancer patients. Circ-SMARCA5 and circ-NOL10 may act as tumor suppressors, while circ-LDLRAD3 and circ-RHOT1 may be oncogenes. Circ-SMARCA5, circ-NOL10, circ-LDLRAD3, and circ-RHOT1 could be promising markers for the early detection of CRC.

The Salvadora persica (S. persica) L. chewing stick, usually known as miswak, is still being employed as an oral hygiene agent for plaque and gingivitis prevention. This study aims to assess the antibacterial, antibiofilm, antioxidant, and phytochemical profile of S. persica extract. The S. persica was purchased from a local market, grinded and extracted with petroleum ether. The disk diffusion, microdilution, and micro-plate assays were performed to evaluate the antibacterial and antibiofilm activities of the prepared extract at different concentrations against β-lactam resistance Streptococcus species. Free radical scavenging 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and stable radical cationic chromophore, 2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate) (ABTS) methods were used to determine their antioxidant activity. Chromatographic and spectrometric analyses were performed using gas chromatography-mass (GC-MS) spectrometry. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of S. persica extract against β-lactam resistance Streptococcus species ranged from 6.25 to 12.5 mg/mL. The maximum suppression of biofilm formation by S. persica extract was observed at MIC with a percentage of 68.66%, against Streptococcus oralis. The S. persica extract exhibited antioxidant activity with IC50 of 20 µg/mL and 35 µg/mL from DPPH and ABTS, respectively. The phytochemical characterization showed the presence of 22 compounds with major compounds; benzyl isothiocyanate (36.21%) and n-hexadecanoic acid (27.62%). The S. persica extract exhibited antibacterial activity against β-lactam resistant Streptococcus species, showing a promising natural alternative that could be a treatment option.

Postoperative corrected and uncorrected near and far visual acuity and total ocular aberration were assessed 3 months after surgery.Results: Our study included 34 eyes of 17 patients. At the third postoperative month, the mean spherical equivalent (SE) was − 0.32 diopters (D) (SD ± 0.62), and the mean distance-corrected near visual acuity (DCNVA) was 0.33 (SD ± 0.15) and 0.42 (SD ± 0.17) decimal notation (DN) monocular and binocular, respectively. The mean near distance with maximum visual acuity was 79.47 cm (SD ± 7.70) and 74.76 cm (SD ± 7.90) monocular and binocular, respectively. The mean postoperative minimum reading addition (add) was 1.6 D (SD ± 0.47). The mean spherical aberration (SA) was 0.13 μm (SD ± 0.09). The correlation of amount of spherical aberration with power of minimum reading add at 40 cm was not statistically significant (p=0.324).Conclusion: The TECNIS Eyhance IOL provides good intermediate visual acuity and decreases the power of the reading add needed after phacoemulsification.Keywords: high-order aberration, presbyopia, extended depth of focus, aspheric IOLs, Eyhance

Azithromycin (AM) detection has become of great interest as being one of the prescribed medicines in the medication protocol in Egypt for the recent coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Herein, a carbon paste electrode was simply amended with fumed silica for determining AM. The characterization of the new material was done by different techniques, including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The newly modified fumed silica carbon paste electrode exhibited a highly sensitive response toward the oxidation of 1.0 mmol/L AM in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) for a pH range of 5.0-10.0. The effect of varying AM concentrations was studied in PBS, pH 7.4, with a detection limit of 11 [micro]mol/L and a quantification limit of 37 [micro]mol/L. Eventually, the recently amended electrode attained reasonable sensitivity and constancy for AM detection in actual trials, such as blood plasma and pharmaceutical drugs. Dans le cadre des presents travaux, nous avons simplement modifie une electrode a pate de carbone (EPC) a l'aide de silice fumee (SF) pour realiser le dosage de 1AM. Nous avons caracterise ce nouveau materiau au moyen de differentes techniques, dont la microscopie electronique a balayage (MEB), la microscopie electronique en transmission (MET) et la spectroscopie d'impedance electrochimique (SIE). Cette nouvelle electrode a pate de carbone modifiee par la silice fumee (EPCSF) s'est revelee tres sensible a l'oxydation de 1AM a une concentration de 1,0 mM dans une solution tampon de phosphate (PBS) a l'interieur d'un intervalle de pH de 5,0 a 10,0. - Abstract
Azithromycin (AM) is one of the prescribed drugs in pandemic medication treatment which has paid great attention. We developed in this study a simply modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) to detect AM using poly-threonine (PT). PT or similar polymers are used as carriers to enhance the delivery and effectiveness of AM. The work was characterised via Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). We take into consideration the effects of pH, scan rate, accumulation time, interference, and calibration curve.A very sensitive response to the oxidation of 1.0 mM from AM in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) over a pH range of 5.0 to 10.0 was observed using the developed poly-threonine carbon paste electrode (PTCPE). The impact of different AM concentrations was investigated resulting in a detection limit of 0.32 µM and a quantification limit of 1.07 µM at PBS (pH 7.4). The recent investigation targets to use adapted carbon paste (CP) with copper nanoparticles (CuNs) operating in a phosphate buffer (PBS) medium with a pH range of 5.0–8.0, to synthesize a novel, susceptible, and simple electrochemical sensor for the detection of one of the most important drugs, vitamin B
6 . Copper (Cu) is one of the most three common essential trace elements found in the bodies of both humans and animals, along with iron and zinc for all crucial physiological and biochemical functions. Its properties, which are assessed using a variety of methods including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), have also drawn a lot of attention recently. We considered the effects of pH, buffer, scan rate, interference, and calibration curve. The susceptible electrode's linear calibration curve encompassed concentration values between 8.88 and 1000.0 µM. The calculated limits of detection and quantification were 32.12 and 107.0 µM, respectively. The analysis and detection of caffeine (Caf) is very useful due to its widespread usage in several daily consumed beverages, food products, and pharmacological preparations with various physiological effects. The preparation of a newly electrodeposited Ag nanoparticles - cellulose acetate phthalate (CAP) - chitosan (Chit) modified carbon paste (ACCMCP) sensor for sensitive determination of Caf in 0.01 mol [L.sup.-1] [H.sub.3]P[O.sub.4] solution (pH 1.0-5.0) both in aqueous and micellar media (0.5 mmol [L.sup.-1] SDS) was achieved. The interaction of Caf was monitored using electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and chronoamperometry, and surface characterization was carried out using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and energy dispersive X-ray techniques. The linear detection range of Caf was between 4 and 500 [micro]mol [L.sup.-1] ([r.sup.2] = 0.955) and the limit of detection obtained from the calibration plot was 0.252 [micro]mol [L.sup.-1]. The sensor was applicable for detecting Caf in numerous real samples with recoveries from 98.03% to 101.60% without interference of any accompanying species, which ensures high method selectivity. La detection de la cafeine (Caf) est devenue un enjeu incontournable en raison de son utilisation largement repandue dans plusieurs boissons, produits alimentaires et preparations pharmacologiques consommes quotidiennement et qui procurent divers effets physiologiques. Nous avons prepare un nouveau capteur a pate de carbone modifiee par des nanoparticules d'Ag electrodepose, de l'acetophtalate de cellulose (CAP) et du chitosane (Chit) pour le dosage sensible de la Caf dans une solution a 0,01 mol [L.sup.-1] de [H.sub.3]P[O.sub.4] dans l'intervalle de pH de 1,0 a 5,0 en milieu aqueux de meme qu'en milieu micellaire (0,5 mmol [L.sup.-1] SDS). Nous avons utilise de nombreuses techniques electrochimiques, telles que la voltamperometrie cyclique, la voltamperometrie differentielle pulsee, la spectroscopie d'impedance electrochimique et la chronoamperometrie, pour observer l'interaction de Caf avec le capteur, et nous avons caracterise la surface de celui-ci a l'aide des techniques de diffraction des rayons X, de microscopie electronique a balayage et de spectroscopie de rayons X a dispersion d'energie. Le domaine lineaire de detection de la Caf allait de 4 a 500 [micro]mol [L.sup.-1] (r (2) = 0,955), et la limite de detection obtenue a partir de la courbe de calibration etait de 0,252 [micro]mol [L.sup.-1]. Nous avons applique le capteur a la detection de la Caf dans de nombreux echantillons reels avec des taux de recuperation variant de 98,03 a 101,60 %, sans interference de toute espece en presence, ce qui demontre la selectivite elevee de cette methode. - Abstract
BackgroundSARS-CoV-2 pandemic has had many significant impacts within the surgical realm, and surgeons have been obligated to reconsider almost every aspect of daily clinical practice.MethodsThis is a cross-sectional study reported in compliance with the CHERRIES guidelines and conducted through an online platform from June 14th to July 15th, 2020. The primary outcome was the burden of burnout during the pandemic indicated by the validated Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure.ResultsNine hundred fifty-four surgeons completed the survey. The median length of practice was 10 years; 78.2% included were male with a median age of 37 years old, 39.5% were consultants, 68.9% were general surgeons, and 55.7% were affiliated with an academic institution. Overall, there was a significant increase in the mean burnout score during the pandemic; longer years of practice and older age were significantly associated with less burnout.There were significant reductions in the median number of outpatient visits, operated cases, on-call hours, emergency visits, and research work, so, 48.2% of respondents felt that the training resources were insufficient. The majority (81.3%) of respondents reported that their hospitals were included in the management of COVID-19, 66.5% felt their roles had been minimized; 41% were asked to assist in non-surgical medical practices, and 37.6% of respondents were included in COVID-19 management.ResultsNine hundred fifty-four surgeons completed the survey. Objectives: This study aimed to recycle some expired insecticides and evaluate their effectiveness against the cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) as a tactic to dispose of these obsolete insecticides. Methods: The physical and chemical characteristics of chlorpyrifos (Chlorzane 48% EC), malathion (Nasr-lathion 57% EC) and cyhalothrin (Lambda-cyhalothrin 5% EC) insecticides were determined. The active ingredients of the tested compounds were estimated by gas–liquid chromatography (GLC) equipped with a flame photometric detector GC/FPD and the insecticidal efficacy against the 4th instar larvae of the cotton leafworm, S. littoralis (Boisd.) was evaluated by the leaf dipping technique. Results: The physical and chemical characteristics of the tested insecticides clarified that chlorpyrifos (Chlorzane 48% EC) succeeded in the stability of emulsion, while cyhalothrin (Lambda-cyhalothrin 5% EC) and malathion (Nasr-lathion 57% EC) failed the test, whether unexpired or expired. The emulsifiers, Tween 80 or Triton X-100 at a concentration of 20%, managed to improve the characterizations of the expired insecticides, cyhalothrin and malathion. Moreover, these emulsifiers investigated a promising increase in the efficiency of expired cyhalothrin against S. littoralis. Conclusions: The emulsifiers, Tween 80 or Triton X-100 could be used to increase the efficiency of expired insecticides, especially cyhalothrin 5% EC, thus managing to apply and dispose of that outdated insecticide.

Silicon spin qubits are promising candidates for scalable quantum computers, due to their coherence and compatibility with CMOS technology. Advanced industrial processes ensure wafer-scale uniformity and high device yield, but traditional transistor processes cannot be directly transferred to qubit structures. To leverage the micro-electronics industry expertise, we customize a 300 mm wafer fabrication line for silicon MOS qubit integration. With careful optimization of the gate stack, we report uniform quantum dot operation at the Si/SiO
2 interface at mK temperature. We measure a record-low average noise with a value of 0.61 μ eVH z − 0.5 at 1 Hz and even below 0.1 μ eVH z − 0.5 for some operating conditions. Statistical analysis of the charge noise measurements show that the noise source can be described by a two-level fluctuator model. This reproducible low noise level, in combination with uniform operation of our quantum dots, marks CMOS manufactured spin qubits as a mature platform towards scalable high-fidelity qubits. We study the calculus of variations problem in the presence of a system of differential-integral (D-I) equations. In order to identify the necessary optimality conditions for this problem, we derive the so-called D-I Euler-Lagrange equations. We also generalize this problem to other cases, such as the case of higher orders, the problem of optimal control, and we derive the so-called D-I Pontryagin equations. In special cases, these formulations lead to classical Euler-Lagrange equations. To illustrate our results, we provide simple examples and applications such as obtaining the minimum power for an RLC circuit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We argue that fractional order (FO) differential equations are more suitable to model complex adaptive systems (CAS). Hence they are applied in replicator equations for non-cooperative game. Rock-Scissors-Paper game is discussed. It is known that its integer order model does not have a stable equilibrium. Its fractional order model is shown to have a locally asymptotically stable internal solution. A FO asymmetric game is shown to have a locally asymptotically stable internal solution.
