Dense subgraph extraction is a fundamental problem in graph analysis and data mining, aimed at identifying cohesive and densely connected substructures within a given graph. It plays a crucial role in various domains, including social network analysis, biological network analysis, recommendation systems, and community detection. However, extracting a subgraph with the highest node similarity is a lack of exploration. To address this problem, we studied the Member Selection Problem and extended it with a dynamic constraint variant. By incorporating dynamic constraints, our algorithm can adapt to changing conditions or requirements, allowing for more flexible and personalized subgraph extraction. This approach enables the algorithm to provide tailored solutions that meet specific needs, even in scenarios where constraints may vary over time. We also provide the theoretical analysis to show that our algorithm is 1/3-approximation. In recent years, the notion of federated learning (FL) has led to the new paradigm of distributed artificial intelligence (AI) with privacy preservation. However, most current FL systems suffer from data privacy issues due to the requirement of a trusted third party. Although some previous works introduce differential privacy to protect the data, however, it may also significantly deteriorate the model performance. To address these issues, we propose a novel decentralized collaborative AI framework, named Auditable Homomorphic-based Decentralised Collaborative AI (AerisAI), to improve security with homomorphic encryption and fine-grained differential privacy. Our proposed AerisAI directly aggregates the encrypted parameters with a blockchain-based smart contract to get rid of the need of a trusted third party. We also propose a brand-new concept for eliminating the negative impacts of differential privacy for model performance. Moreover, the proposed AerisAI also provides the broadcast-aware group key management based on ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CPABE) to achieve fine-grained access control based on different service-level agreements. We provide a formal theoretical analysis of the proposed AerisAI as well as the functionality comparison with the other baselines. We also conduct extensive experiments on real datasets to evaluate the proposed approach. k-plex is a representative definition of communities in networks. While the cliques is too stiff to applicate to real cases, the k-plex relaxes the notion of the clique, allowing each node to miss up to k connections. Although k-plexes are more flexible than cliques, finding them is more challenging as their number is greater. In this paper, we aim to detect the k-plex under the size and time constraints, leveraging the new vision of automated learning bounding strategy. We introduce the constraint learning concept to learn the bound strategy from the branch and bound process and develop it into a Mixed Integer Programming framework. While most of the work is dedicated on learn the branch strategy in branch and bound-based algorithms, we focus on the learn to bound strategy which needs to handle the problem that learned strategy might not examine the feasible solution. We adopted the MILP framework and design a set of variables relative to the k-plex property as our constraint space to learn the strategy. The learn to bound strategy learning the original strategy function also reduces the computation load of the bound process to accelerate the branch and bound algorithm. Note that the learn to bound concept can apply to any branch and bound based algorithm with the appropriate framework. We conduct the experiment on different networks, the results show that our learn to branch and bound method does accelerate the original branch and bound method and outperforms other baselines, while also being able to generalize on different graph properties.

With the increasing application value of machine learning, the intellectual property (IP) rights of deep neural networks (DNN) are getting more and more attention. With our analysis, most of the existing DNN watermarking methods can resist fine-tuning and pruning attack, but distillation attack. To address these problem, we propose a new DNN watermarking framework, Unified Soft-label Perturbation (USP), having a detector paired with the model to be watermarked, and Customized Soft-label Perturbation (CSP), embedding watermark via adding perturbation into the model output probability distribution. Experimental results show that our methods can resist all watermark removal attacks and outperform in distillation attack. Besides, we also have an excellent trade-off between the main task and watermarking that achieving 98.68% watermark accuracy while only affecting the main task accuracy by 0.59%., Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures

Research suggests that social relationships have substantial impacts on individuals' health outcomes. Network intervention, through careful planning, can assist a network of users to build healthy relationships. However, most previous work is not designed to assist such planning by carefully examining and improving multiple network characteristics. In this paper, we propose and evaluate algorithms that facilitate network intervention planning through simultaneous optimization of network degree, closeness, betweenness, and local clustering coefficient, under scenarios involving Network Intervention with Limited Degradation - for Single target (NILD-S) and Network Intervention with Limited Degradation - for Multiple targets (NILD-M). We prove that NILD-S and NILD-M are NP-hard and cannot be approximated within any ratio in polynomial time unless P=NP. We propose the Candidate Re-selection with Preserved Dependency (CRPD) algorithm for NILD-S, and the Objective-aware Intervention edge Selection and Adjustment (OISA) algorithm for NILD-M. Various pruning strategies are designed to boost the efficiency of the proposed algorithms. Extensive experiments on various real social networks collected from public schools and Web and an empirical study are conducted to show that CRPD and OISA outperform the baselines in both efficiency and effectiveness.

An increasing number of social network mental disorders (SNMDs), such as Cyber-Relationship Addiction, Information Overload, and Net Compulsion, have been recently noted. Symptoms of these mental disorders are usually observed passively today, resulting in delayed clinical intervention. In this paper, we argue that mining online social behavior provides an opportunity to actively identify SNMDs at an early stage. It is challenging to detect SNMDs because the mental factors considered in standard diagnostic criteria (questionnaire) cannot be observed from online social activity logs. Our approach, new and innovative to the practice of SNMD detection, does not rely on self-revealing of those mental factors via questionnaires. Instead, we propose a machine learning framework, namely, Social Network Mental Disorder Detection (SNMDD), that exploits features extracted from social network data to accurately identify potential cases of SNMDs. We also exploit multi-source learning in SNMDD and propose a new SNMD-based Tensor Model (STM) to improve the performance. Our framework is evaluated via a user study with 3126 online social network users. We conduct a feature analysis, and also apply SNMDD on large-scale datasets and analyze the characteristics of the three SNMD types. The development and integration of social networking services and smartphones have made it easy for individuals to organize impromptu social activities anywhere and anytime. Main challenges arising in organizing impromptu activities are mostly due to the requirements of making timely invitations in accordance with the potential activity locations, corresponding to the locations of and the relationship among the candidate attendees. Various combinations of candidate attendees and activity locations create a large solution space. Thus, in this paper, we propose Multiple Rally-Point Social Spatial Group Query (MRGQ), to select an appropriate activity location for a group of nearby attendees with tight social relationships. Although MRGQ is NP-hard, the number of attendees in practice is usually small enough such that an optimal solution can be found efficiently. Therefore, we first propose an Integer Linear Programming optimization model for MRGQ. We then design an efficient algorithm, called MAGS, which employs effective search space exploration and pruning strategies to reduce the running time for finding the optimal solution. We also propose to further optimize efficiency by indexing the potential activity locations. A user study demonstrates the strength of using MAGS over manual coordination in terms of both solution quality and efficiency. Experimental results on real datasets show that our algorithms can process MRGQ efficiently and significantly outperform other baseline algorithms, including one based on the commercial parallel optimizer IBM CPLEX.

The social presence theory in social psychology suggests that computer-mediated online interactions are inferior to face-to-face, in-person interactions. In this paper, we consider the scenarios of organizing in person friend-making social activities via online social networks (OSNs) and formulate a new research problem, namely, Hop-bounded Maximum Group Friending (HMGF), by modeling both existing friendships and the likelihood of new friend making. To find a set of attendees for socialization activities, HMGF is unique and challenging due to the interplay of the group size, the constraint on existing friendships and the objective function on the likelihood of friend making. We prove that HMGF is NP-Hard, and no approximation algorithm exists unless P = NP. We then propose an error-bounded approximation algorithm to efficiently obtain the solutions very close to the optimal solutions. We conduct a user study to validate our problem formulation and per- form extensive experiments on real datasets to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.
