In this work, research experience and reference documentation have been generalized related to PV systems photoelectric parameters (PV array output parameters) determining. The basic method has been presented that makes it possible to determine photoelectric parameters with the state-of-the-art reliability and repeatability. This method provides an effective tool for PV systems comparison and evaluation of PV system parameters that the end-user will have in the course of its real operation for compliance with those stipulated in reference documentation. The method takes in consideration all parameters that may possibly affect photoelectric performance and that are supported by sufficiently valid procedures for their values testing. Test conditions, requirements for equipment subject to tests and test preparations have been established and the test procedure for fully equipped PV system in field tests and in real operation conditions has been described. Angle-dependent spectral photoresponse characteristics for theoretically perfect and physically implementable tunnel cascade (multi-junction) photoelectric converters (PC), for example high-voltage planar PV cells, have been studied as functions of technological parameters and number of single PCs in cascade. Angle-dependent spectral photoresponse characteristics values for real cascade silicon structures have been determined in visible and ultraviolet radiation spectra. Characteristic values of radiation incidence angle corresponding to the twofold photocurrent reduction in relation to normal incidence have been found depending on the number of single PCs in cascade, 'dead' layer thickness of tunnel junction and photosensitivity of the base PC. High voltage cascade solar cells on the basis of n+-p-p+(t)n+-p-p+(t)...n+-p-p+ multilayer structures manufactured from homogeneous type semiconductor with the quantum mechanical tunnelling effect of charge carriers in p+(t)n+ junction under concentrated radiation have been studied. The expressions for the theoretical and physical upperlimit values for open circuit voltage and efficiency of cascade solar cell and spectral characteristics, design and physical parameters of cascades have been obtained. Dependencies of the upper-limit efficiency for silicon cascade photovoltaic converters on solar radiation concentration ratio, number of cells and dead layer thickness in cascade tunnel-junction structures have been investigated. The research of silicon planar multijunction PV cells is addressed. While being of multijunction and high voltage type, the standard shape of planar converters could be maintained for such solar cells. Introduction of multijunction high voltage PV cells into traditionally shaped planar PV systems and modules results in benefits from lesser losses at higher nominal voltage and better performance. Structurally these solar cells represent multilayer composition of elements of the structure - single photoelectric converters traversed by light going through consequent semiconductor layers. The theoretical framework and boundary parameters of photoelectric and power characteristics of monochromatic and solar radiation high voltage PV cells are presented together with optimal thicknesses and number of single photo converters deposited onto the base photo converters, including spectral response, current-voltage characteristics and efficiency.
