We present a morphological analysis of the 16 μ m flux-density-limited galaxy sample at 0.8 < z < 1.3 from Huang et al. (2021). At the targeted redshift, the 16 μ m emission corresponds to the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon feature from intense star formation, or dust heated by active galactic nuclei (AGN). Our sample of 479 galaxies are dominated by luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs; 67%) in three CANDLES fields (Extended Groth Strip, ​​​​Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey North and South fields), and are further divided into AGN-dominated, star-forming dominated, composite, and blue compact galaxies by their spectral energy distribution types. The majority of our sample (71%) have disk morphologies, with the few AGN-dominated galaxies being more bulge-dominated than the star-forming-dominated and composite galaxies. The distribution of our sample on the Gini versus M 20 plane is consistent with previous studies, where the Sérsic index n shows an increasing trend toward the smaller M 20 and higher Gini region below the dividing line for mergers. The subsample of ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs) follows a steep size–mass relation that is closer to the early-type galaxies. In addition, as the 4.5 μ m luminosity excess ( L 4.5 exc , proxy for AGN strength) increases, our sample appears to be more bulge dominated (i.e., higher n). Based on the specific star formation rate and compactness ( log 10 Σ 1.5 , Σ 1.5 = M * / R e 1.5 ) diagram, the majority of our LIRG-dominated galaxy sample follows a secular evolution track, and their distribution can be explained without involving any merging activities. Band alignment engineering in 2D van der Waals heterostructures is a promising method for manufacturing high‐speed, high‐responsivity, and high‐gain photodetectors. Here, a heterojunction photodetector with the band alignment transition from type I to type II under the bias voltage using narrow bandgap material n‐Bi2Se3 and polarization‐sensitive material p‐GeSe is designed and prepared. This photodetector possesses excellent performance of broadband detection (532‐1550 nm), high responsivity (5.86 × 103 A W−1), high detectivity (1.50 × 1013 Jones), significant external quantum efficiency (1.15 × 106%) and fast response time (97 µs). Compared with the conventional type II band alignment, an additional triangular potential barrier is generated in this type II band alignment evolved from type I. Notably, this triangular barrier will block photogenerated carriers in Bi2Se3, which leads to high external quantum efficiency; Furthermore, photogenerated holes can tunnel through this barrier, effectively shortening the response time. Meanwhile, the device can achieve polarization detection (anisotropic ratio = 1.74 at 808 nm) and polarization imaging, which is of great significance for reducing the bit error rate in complex environments. Broadband photodetectors based on narrow bandgap 2D materials have garnered considerable interest for application in the field of optoelectronic devices. However, their large dark current hinders device performance. In this work, a PtSe2/MoS2 heterojunction was fabricated for a broadband photodetector operating within the range of visible to near-infrared. The device exhibited suppressed dark currents with a high rectification ratio of 104. The built-in electric field of the heterojunction promoted carrier separation effectively, and the device achieved excellent photoelectric performance with responsivities of 1.7 × 103, 27.52, and 21 mA/W at 635, 785, and 1550 nm wavelengths, respectively. Moreover, the specific detectivities (D*) were 2.2 × 1013 Jones (635 nm), 3.55 × 1011 Jones (785 nm), and 2.72 × 108 Jones (1550 nm). The device demonstrated a rise/fall time of 131/241 µs under 1550 nm laser illumination. Visible and near-infrared imaging detection was also demonstrated based on the heterojunction device at room temperature. This work sheds light on the remarkable potential of PtSe2/MoS2 heterojunctions in the domain of high-performance broadband photodetectors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Plant Myeloblastosis (MYB) proteins function crucially roles upon variegated abiotic stresses. Nonetheless, their effects and mechanisms in rose (Rosa chinensis) are not fully clarified. In this study, we characterized the effects of rose RcMYB8 under salt and drought tolerances. For induction of the RcMYB8 expression, NaCl and drought stress treatment were adopted. Rose plants overexpressing RcMYB8 displayed enhanced tolerance to salinity and drought stress, while silencing RcMYB8 resulted in decreased tolerance, as evidenced by lowered intra-leaf electrolyte leakage and callose deposition, as well as photosynthetic sustainment under stressed conditions. Here, we further show that RcMYB8 binds similarly to the promoters of RcPR5/1 and RcP5C51 in vivo and in vitro. Inhibiting RcP5CS1 by virus-induced gene silencing led to decreased drought tolerance through the reactive oxygen species (ROS) homeostatic regulation. RcP5CS1-silenced plants showed an increase in ion leakage and reduce of proline content, together with the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) increased, lowered activities of Catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Our study highlights the transcriptional modulator role of RcMYB8 in drought and salinity tolerances, which bridges RcPR5/1 and RcP5CS1 by promoting ROS scavenging. Introduction: Although programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor plus chemotherapy regimen is a promising strategy for malignant tumors, it can induce significant immune-related adverse events, such as immune-related pneumonitis. Here, we report the first case of lethal immune-related pneumonitis in an Asian patient receiving anti-PD-L1 treatment. Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and interstitial pneumonia. After his pulmonary infection was relieved by comprehensive treatment, the patient received first-line treatment with durvalumab plus etoposide and carboplatin. Two weeks after starting durvalumab treatment, the patient had chest pain and shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with immune-induced pneumonia and treated with methylprednisolone, cefoperazone, and sulbactam, followed by oxygen and pirfenidone. Oxygen partial pressure decreased to 58 mm Hg within next the 4 days and laboratory assessment suggested cytokine storm. The patient underwent 2 plasma exchanges, one double filtration plasmapheresis and oxygen saturation decreased continuously. The patient died 1 month after durvalumab treatment. Conclusion: Immune-related pneumonitis induced by PD-L1 inhibitors is rare but life-threatening. Infection should be ruled out before starting immunotherapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
