The awareness of parents about friendship between their children with an intellectual disability and children without a disability is an important factor for their children to make friends without a disability. A questionnare survey was used to parents of upper secondary department of special schools for students with an intellectual disability. They thought that their children had fewer opportunities to get involved with children without a disability. Many of them wished that their children could have friends without a disability. But there were differences in the degree of wish among them. This paper concludes with suggestions to the future study about friendship between children with an intellectual disability and children without a disability.

友達関係は人生においてなくてはならないものだが，障害のある人にとっては，ノーマライゼーションの実現ということにおいて障害のない人との友達関係も欠かせない．この重要なテーマについての試行的・探索的な本研究では，作業所に福祉就労する知的障害者（41名，うち31名が20歳台）の保護者に対して質問紙調査を実施した．その結果，彼らには友達が少なく，特に障害のない友達をもっている人は僅少であること，保護者たちは子どもが就学前や学童期の頃は障害のない友達ができるようにといろいろ取り組んでいることが示唆された．また現在，程度に強弱はあるが，半数を明らかに上回る保護者（6割強）が，子どもに障害のない友達がいればよいと思い，一方でその実現を容易でないと考えていることが示された． さらに本研究では，筆者の一人（渋谷）が友達関係を深めてきている知的障害（ダウン症候群）の青年の母親に面接し，母親が友達関係の大切さを認識し，障害の有無を問わず友達ができるようにと青年の幼い頃から何かと配慮と行動を重ねてきていることが確認できた． 以上の結果を踏まえ，友達関係の構築に向けた支援のあり方について，また研究上の課題について言及した．

Electron cooling time of hot proton beam having a momentum spread of 1 % was improved significantly by almost 1 order of magnitude. Applying the proton energy sweep with induction acceleration, the cooling time was reduced from 30.4 s to 1.7 s. For the first time, the creation of the 1D ordered state of a 7 MeV proton has been demonstrated at a particle number 2000 by observing a clear jump in the momentum spread. The threshold current of the coherent vertical instability excited during the E-Cool stacking process has been increased from 600 microA to 800 microA by application of a feedback damping system. A very short bunched beam with a duration of 2.5 ns created by a phase rotation after electron cooling was successfully extracted from S-LSR by a fast extraction.

The cooling-stacking injection at the HIMAC synchrotron was used to increase the intensity of Ar18+ ion beam. The beam stacking was realized in a horizontal free phase-space, which was created by the HIMAC electron cooler. The stack intensity of (1.5-2.5) / 109 ppp was accumulated at an injection intensity of (0.3-1.0)/109. The lifetime of stack ions is determined by vacuum pressure. The new injected ions were slowly lost at multiple scattering on residual gas atoms at diffusion heating in the vertical direction caused by the acceptance of 30 pi mmmrad and a reduction of cooling force at large betatron amplitudes. The results of numerical simulations and experimental study of cooling-stacking injection on the HIMAC synchrotron are presented.

In ion beam cancer therapy, it is generally essential for a scanning-irradiation method and a rotating gantry system to deliver a circular beam profile with a Gaussian distribution. A slow beam extraction method utilized in a synchrotron ring, however, can not deliver a beam with a Gaussian distribution in the horizontal phase space, because of its extraction mechanism. Thus, we have proposed a thin scatterer method in order to compensate for the phase-space distribution of a slowly extracted beam, although the emittance is slightly enlarged by scattering. As a result of particle tracking, we verified that the proposed method could change an asymmetric distribution to a Gaussian one in the horizontal phase space and realize a symmetric beam condition for the rotating gantry.

A compact electron cooler was designed and constructed at Kyoto university. The commissioning of the compact electron cooler of the S-LSR in Kyoto university was carried out with successful observation of both longitudinal and horizontal cooling of a 7 MeV proton beam. By varying the electric potential on the Pierce electrode in the gun, we have investigated the possibility of generating a hollow shaped electron beam, and studied its effect on the electron cooling process. The design of the electron cooler and the results of the first electron cooling experiments will be presented.

Electron beam cooling of hot ion beam and 3-dimensional laser cooling of 24Mg+ ion are planned at S-LSR.Laser produced ions in the energy interval of +-5 percents around 2 MeV/u are to be phase rotated and are to be applied electron cooling after injection into S-LSR so as to be reduced to +-1percent in their energy spred.For laser cooling of 24Mg+ ions,static electric field is to be superposed with the magnetic field of each deflection element to cancel out the orbit dispersion,which is considered to be effective to stabilize the crystalline state by suppression of the shear heating.Construction of S-LSR is close to be completion and beam commissioning is scheduled early in this autumn.

At the ion storage and cooler ring, S-LSR completed at ICR, Kyoto University in October, 2005, the electron cooling has been successfully performed for 7 MeV proton resulting the momentum spread of 5x10-6, although the 1 dimensional ordering is not yet observed. The ordering of protons has been observed at a new storage ring, S-LSR, at Kyoto University. Abrupt jumps in the momentum spread and the Schottky noise power were observed for protons for the first time at a particle number of about 2000, upon applying electron cooling with electron currents of 25, 50, and 100 mA. The transition temperature was 0.17 and 1 meV in the longitudinal and transverse directions, respectively. The transverse temperature of the proton beam was much below that of electrons at the transition, which played an essential role in the ordering of protons.
