Regioselective C–H phenoxylation and azolation of phenol derivatives via consecutively O-radical participating pathway and subsequent electro-induced nucleophilic substitution (SNAr) between azoles and phenol derivatives was disclosed.

We use Sr-Nd isotopes of apatite and trace element compositions of apatite-zircon pairs from a major ore layer in each of three selected magmatic Fe-Ti-V oxide ore deposits (Hongge, Panzhihua, and Taihe) in the Emeishan large igneous province (LIP) in southwestern China to contrast the magmatic controls on ore formation. The average contents of REEs in apatite from a representative ore zone/layer in each of these deposits are higher than the predicted values of apatite crystallizing from a melt with REE contents assumed to be the same as the average values of high-Ti basalts in the Emeishan LIP, confirming that the ore-forming magmas all experienced higher degrees of fractional crystallization by major silicate minerals than the average basalt. The apatites Sm/Yb and Sr/Y indicate that the Panzhihua magma was generated at a shallower depth and experienced higher degree of plagioclase fractional crystallization than Taihe and Hongge. The apatite Sr-Nd isotopes can be reproduced by ~ 8 wt% contamination with Precambrian gneiss-schist in the parental magma for Hongge and by ~ 10 wt% and ~ 25 wt% contamination with marbles in the parental magmas for Panzhihua and Taihe, respectively. A recycled, high-T altered oceanic gabbroic component in the mantle source is a viable alternative to the marble contamination model for Taihe. Coexisting zircon trace element compositions reveal that the parental magma for Taihe (ΔFMQ+4.0) is more oxidized than those for Hongge (ΔFMQ−0.4) and Panzhihua (ΔFMQ−0.7), questioning that magma oxidation played a critical role in the genesis of Fe-Ti-V oxide ore deposits in the Emeishan LIP.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of gentamycin irrigation in preventing postoperative surgical site infection (SSI) in emergency neurosurgical procedures.A total of 518 consecutive emergency neurosurgeries, including craniotomies, endoscopic and burr hole procedures were reviewed retrospectively. Patients received either only normal saline (NS) irrigation or NS irrigation with gentamycin added (80 mg/L) during the whole process of surgery. SSIs including wound infection and intracranial infection were the primary outcome. SSI was considered while purulence was observed during wound dressing and confirmed with bacterial culture of wound exudation. In addition, positive result of bacterial growth culture of cerebrospinal fluid was also considered as infection. Infection rates were calculated 28 days after surgery. Statistical analysis was performed usingThis study included 444 patients. Gentamycin was used in 179 (40.3%) patients. Only 2 (1.1%) of 179 patients receiving gentamycin irrigation had an infection. However, among the other 265 patients receiving only NS irrigation, the infection rate was 8.3%. With the addition of gentamycin, the infection rate was decreased by 86.7% (The gentamycin plus NS irrigation during emergency neurosurgical procedures can lead to a significantly lower rate of postoperative infection than when NS is used alone.

The Emeishan large igneous province (LIP) consists of Permian flood basalts and coeval intrusive rocks with compositions varying from mafic-ultramafic rocks to syenites and granites. The volatiles in the Emeishan LIP are dominated by H2O with high H-2, indicating that the plume-derived magma was generated under a reduced condition. Picrite has minor contents of H2S without detectable SO2, and the basalt samples show no detectable H2S and SO2, indicating that the basaltic magma may have undergone sulphur-saturation during magma evolution. The delta C-13 values of CO2 and CH4 in picrites and basalts are between the values of mantle and crustal organic carbon. This, together with the distribution patterns among CH4 homologue, indicates contribution of recycled sediments to the Emeishan mantle-derived magma. The He-3/He-4 ratios of volatiles extracted from olivine and pyroxene phenocrysts of picrites vary from 01 to 0.66 Ra, and those from pyroxene separates of olivine websterite samples in the Zhubu intrusion vary from 0.92 to 15 Ra. The low He-3/He-4 ratios of the picrites from Emeishan LIP are lower than those from the Siberian LIP, but within the values of continental crust and oceanic crust. The positive correlation between He-4/(40)Arc and He-4 contents in Emeishan picrite suggests that the isotopic ratios were dramatically affected by crustal contamination rather than degassing. The He and Ar isotopes indicate that Emeishan picrite experienced addition of subducted oceanic crustal materials, and the Zhubu magma was contaminated by continental crustal materials.

Background Calumenin (CALU) has been reported to be associated with invasiveness and metastasis in some malignancies. However, in glioma, the role of CALU remains unclear. Methods Clinical and transcriptome data of 998 glioma patients, including 301 from CGGA and 697 from TCGA dataset, were included. R language was used to perform statistical analyses. Results CALU expression was significantly upregulated in more malignant gliomas, including higher grade, IDH wildtype, mesenchymal, and classical subtype. Gene Ontology analysis revealed that CALU-correlated genes were mainly enriched in cell/biological adhesion, response to wounding, and extracellular matrix/structure organization, all of which were strongly correlated with the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) phenotype. GSEA further validated the profound involvement of CALU in EMT. Subsequent GSVA suggested that CALU was particularly correlated with three EMT signaling pathways, including TGFβ, PI3K/AKT, and hypoxia pathway. Furthermore, CALU played synergistically with EMT key markers, including N-cadherin, vimentin, snail, slug, and TWIST1. Survival and Cox regression analysis showed that higher CALU predicted worse survival, and the prognostic value was independent of WHO grade and age. Conclusions CALU was correlated with more malignant phenotypes in glioma. Moreover, CALU seemed to serve as a pro-EMT molecular target and could contribute to predict prognosis independently in glioma.

Magma-carbonate interaction and recycled oceanic crust in the mantle source are thought to have played a critical role in the genesis of magmatic Fe-Ti-V oxide ore deposits in the Emeishan mantle plume-related large igneous province in southwestern China. To test these hypotheses, we have carried out a combined study of zircon Hf-O isotopes and whole-rock Sr-Nd isotopes on three representative magmatic Fe-Ti-V oxide ore deposits associated with different types of wall-rock in the province: the Hongge and Taihe deposits with granitoid wall-rocks in most places, and the Panzhihua deposit with marble wall-rocks. Diopside-garnet marble xenoliths are common in the host gabbros of the Taihe deposit. The zircon separates used in this study are all from the mineralized units of the host layered mafic–ultramafic intrusions. The selected zircon grains yield U-Pb isotopic ages of 258.2 ± 2.8 Ma for Hongge intrusion, 263.3 ± 2.2 Ma for Taihe intrusion, and 257.6 ± 2.1 Ma for Panzhihua intrusion. The Hf-O isotopes of the zircon separates are eHf(t) from 3.1 to 4.7 and δ18O from 5.77 to 6.45‰ for Hongge, eHf(t) from 8.3 to 9.8 and δ18O from 4.12 to 4.56‰ for Taihe, and eHf(t) from 4.6 to 6.3 and δ18O from 5.49 to 6.10‰ for Panzhihua. The zircon δ18O values of the Taihe deposit are significantly lower than the mantle zircon values (5.3 ± 0.3‰), whereas those of the Hongge and Panzhihua deposits are higher than the mantle values. The initial 87Sr/86Sr and eNd(t) of the whole rock samples from the deposits are similar, from 0.7047 to 0.7052 and from 2.3 to 3.1, respectively. The observed decoupling of zircon Hf-O isotopes (low δ18O and high eHf(t) values) in the Taihe deposit is most consistent with a high-temperature altered, low δ18O oceanic gabbroic component in the plume source for this deposit. All of the isotope data together show that the parental magmas for these deposits experienced different types of crustal contamination. Contamination with the Precambrian metamorphic country rocks is much more significant in the parental magma for the Hongge deposit than those for the Panzhihua and Taihe deposits. On the other hand, contamination with marble country rocks is more pronounced in the parental magmas for the Panzhihua and Taihe deposits than in the parental magma for the Hongge deposit. An important new finding from this study is that these deposits are not linked to the same component of the mantle plume nor a single type of crustal contamination.

The 4.7 eV absorption band of colorless AlN crystal with the carbon concentration level of 107 cm−3 is investigated. An analysis of the absorption characteristics of the annealed AlN crystal indicates that the native defect is the origin of 4.7 eV absorption band and gives rise to an infrared absorption band at 2850 cm−1. The theory calculations predict two absorption bands at 4.65 eV and 0.35 eV of nitrogen vacancy, and the defect explains the increased and decreased intensity of infrared absorption band at 2850 cm−1 as well as a similar increased-decreased ultraviolet absorption band at 4.7 eV.

Background In cancer, kappa B-interacting protein (IKBIP) has rarely been reported. This study aimed at investigating its expression pattern and biological function in brain glioma at the transcriptional level. Methods We selected 301 glioma patients with microarray data from CGGA database and 697 glioma patients with RNAseq data from TCGA database. Transcriptional data and clinical data of 998 samples were analyzed. Statistical analysis and figure generating were performed with R language. Results We found that IKBIP expression showed positive correlation with WHO grade of glioma. IKBIP was increased in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) wild type and mesenchymal molecular subtype of glioma. Gene ontology analysis demonstrated that IKBIP was profoundly associated with extracellular matrix organization, cell–substrate adhesion and response to wounding in both pan-glioma and glioblastoma. Subsequent gene set enrichment analysis revealed that IKBIP was particularly correlated with epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). To further elucidate the relationship between IKBIP and EMT, we performed gene set variation analysis to screen the EMT-related signaling pathways and found that IKBIP expression was significantly associated with PI3K/AKT, hypoxia and TGF-β pathway. Moreover, IKBIP expression was found to be synergistic with key biomarkers of EMT, especially with N-cadherin, vimentin, snail, slug and TWIST1. Finally, higher IKBIP indicated significantly shorter survival for glioma patients. Conclusions IKBIP was associated with more aggressive phenotypes of gliomas. Furthermore, IKBIP was significantly involved in EMT and could serve as an independent prognosticator in glioma.

Uridine phosphorylase 1 (UPP1) has been reported as an oncogene in several malignancies. In glioma, the role of UPP1 remains unclear. This study was performed to explore its role in glioma at transcriptional level. Totally, 998 glioma patients with clinical data were enrolled, including 301 mRNA microarray data from Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) dataset and 697 RNAseq data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset. Statistical analysis was performed with R language. UPP1 expression level was positively correlated with WHO grade of glioma. UPP1 was significantly upregulated in mesenchymal subtype and could serve as a potential biomarker for this subtype. Based on most correlated genes of UPP1, Gene ontology analysis revealed that UPP1 was profoundly associated with immune and inflammatory response. Gene Sets Variation Analysis was further performed and showed that UPP1 was particularly correlated with MHC‐II and LCK, which were mainly associated with activities of antigen‐presenting cells and T cells. Moreover, UPP1 was found to be synergistic with various immune checkpoint members, especially with PD1 pathway and B7‐H3. Finally, Kaplan‐Meier curves revealed that higher UPP1 indicated significantly shorter survival for glioma patients. Taken together, UPP1 played an oncogenic role in glioma via suppressing tumor‐related immune response., UPP1 is positively associated with WHO grade of glioma. UPP1 is mainly involved in tumor‐induced immune response, particularly associated with antigen‐presenting cell‐related immune response and T‐cell activation. High expression level of UPP1 predicts poor prognosis in glioma.

Finally, higher LIGHT indicated significantly shorter survival for glioma patients. Cox regression models revealed that LIGHT expression was an independent variable for predicting survival. In conclusion, LIGHT was upregulated in more malignant gliomas including glioblastoma, IDH wildtype, and mesenchymal subtype. Rationale: Tetanus is usually caused by wound infection with Clostridium tetani after acute injuries. Skin cancer wound is a rarely reported cause of tetani infection. It is difficult to be diagnosed and mistaken for other brain lesions. Patient concerns: A 49-year-old man presenting with the only symptom of repeated convulsions was admitted to our department. He had an ulcerated skin cancer on the right buttock that had been excised in another hospital 1 month before admission, leaving the wound unhealed. He was suspected of having a metastatic brain tumor early, but exhibited a negative cranial CT-scan. Diagnosis: Tetanus was diagnosed when he was observed to have sudden convulsions after sensory stimulation such as noise, light, or touch. Interventions: Despite administration of a high dose of diazepam and phenobarbitone, continuous generalized rigidity with laryngospasm still occurred. Instead, when propofol was intravenously infused, the spastic convulsion completely stopped. Tracheotomy and mechanical ventilation were performed. Outcomes: The patient gradually recovered in 2 weeks. Lessons: Tetanus is rarely infected through the wound of an ulcerated skin cancer. Early diagnosis can only be based on accurate assessment of clinical manifestations, and propofol infusion appears to be more effective in anti-convulsion management for patients with tetanus. Routine vaccination to prevent tetanus in patients with ulcerated skin cancer should be considered in the future clinical work.

This study conducted a systematic analysis of hypoxia-related genes (HRGs) to explore new markers for predicting the prognosis of glioblastoma (GBM). The gene expression profile and corresponding methylation, copy number variation (CNV), and genomic mutation data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas database. Two GEO cohorts were used to identify HRGs. The CGGA and GSE13041 were performed as validation cohorts. The hierarchical clustering algorithm was used to cluster molecular subtypes. Univariate cox analysis was used to assess prognosis. Spearman's method was conducted to evaluate the correlation among HRGs, methylation, and CNV. Finally, 158 HRGs were identified. Two molecular subtypes with significant prognosis were classified based on the expression of HRGs. The HRGs were mainly negatively correlated with methylation but were positively correlated with the somatic CNV. Based on the distinct prognoses revealed in univariate cox analysis, a 5-HRGs prognostic risk model was constructed and validated for predicting the survival of GBM patients.

GSEA analysis revealed that BDKRB2 was particularly correlated with epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). GSVA analysis showed that BDKRB2 was significantly paralleled with several EMT signaling pathways, including PI3K/AKT, hypoxia, and TGF-β. Moreover, BDKRB2 expression was significantly correlated with key biomarkers of EMT, especially with N-cadherin, snail, slug, vimentin, TWIST1, and TWIST2. Finally, higher BDKRB2 indicated significantly shorter survival for glioma patients. In conclusion, BDKRB2 was associated with more aggressive phenotypes of gliomas. Furthermore, BDKRB2 was involved in the EMT process and could serve as an independent prognosticator in glioma.

Objective In December 2019, the global outbreak of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID 19) was reported. As of March 8, 2020, more than 90,000 cases were reported worldwide, resulting in a shortage of global medical resources. The purpose of this study was to understand the working experience of triage nurses in the emergency department (ED) of a large teaching general hospital in Shenzhen (Guangdong province, China) during the COVID-19 epidemic. This will provide a basis for improving the emergency nursing strategies and the epidemic response capabilities of triage nurse. Methods Ten triage nurses were selected as subjects by objective sampling for in- depth interviews, and the data were analyzed by the Colaizzi seven-step analysis method. Results There were four themes in the working experience of triage nurses, including fear of infection and transmission, job stress, gratitude, and expectations of managers. Conclusion During the COVID-19, the work experience of triage nurses mainly included the fear of infection and transmission, the high work pressure, the sense of team strength and the care of leaders. It was suggested that nursing managers should ensure the human resources of triage nurses, increase training, strengthen emergency drills, improve emergency nursing countermeasures, and improve the response capability of triage nurses during the epidemic. In this paper, the PetroOXY method has been mainly used to determine the oxidation stability of biodiesel stabilized with five synthetic antioxidants. The differences in the antioxidant activity of these phenolic compounds could be clearly distinguished with this method. Pyrogallol (PY) and propyl gallate (PG) prove more efficient in inhibiting biodiesel oxidative degradation than butylated hydroxyanisol (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). BHT and BHA act more efficiently in the PetroOXY test than in the Rancimat method with regard to stabilization factor. Tert -butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) displays the weakest antioxidant activity in PetroOXY, inconsistent with the best stabilizing effects shown in the Rancimat method. The influence of reaction temperature on the induction period is very pronounced. From the plots of logarithm of induction period against temperature, the storage life of biodiesel at ambient temperature can be predicted with the extrapolation method, and the temperature sensitivity of these antioxidants can also be obtained. Changes in the mechanism of the oxidation process with the introduction of antioxidants may give variations in the temperature dependence.

The risk factors for the pulmonary infections after hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the potential risk factors for the postoperative pulmonary infection in patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage.Patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage undergone surgery from January 2018 to December 2019 were included. Related personal and medical information were collected. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the potential risk factors for the postoperative pulmonary infection.A total of 264 patients were included, and the incidence of pulmonary infection for patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage after surgery was 19.70%. Escherichia coli is the most common bacteria of pulmonary infection. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that the preoperative hypoalbuminemia (OR2.89, 1.67∼4.78), tracheotomy (OR5.31, 1.24∼11.79), diabetes (OR4.92, 1.32∼9.80), preoperative GCS (OR5.66, 2.84∼11.21), and the duration of mechanical ventilation (OR2.78, 2.32∼3.61) were the independent risk factors for the pulmonary infection in patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage (all P

In order to investigate the effects of the crosslinker on the separation performance of polar zwitterionic sulfoalkylbetaine-type monolithic columns, three crosslinkers, i.e. 1,4-bis(acryloyl)piperazine (PDA), ethylene dimethacrylate (EDMA) and N , N ′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA), were copolymerized with the hydrophilic monomer N , N -dimethyl- N -acryloyloxyethyl- N -(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium betaine (SPDA). The chromatographic properties of the three hydrophilic sulfoalkylbetaine-type monolithic columns, including column efficiency, permeability, porosity and separation mechanism, were systematically compared using scanning electron microscopy or micro-HPLC. Good selectivity in micro-HPLC separations was achieved on all three monolithic columns. The results indicate that the polarity of sulfoalkylbetaine-type monolithic columns may be related to the polarity of the crosslinker, which further affects column selectivity and efficiency. A particularly high column efficiency (100,000 plates/m) was obtained on the novel poly(SPDA- co -PDA) monolithic column at a linear velocity of 1 mm/s using thiourea as test analyte. A higher resolution was also observed for nucleobases, nucleosides and hydrophilic organic acids on this novel poly(SPDA- co -PDA) monolithic column compared to the other two columns.
