Rhenium(i) based sulfur-bridged tetranuclear spiro-metallacyclophanes of M4S2L-type were obtained via oxidative addition of diaryl disulfide to rhenium carbonyl with the simultaneous coordination of the pyridyl moiety of tetradentate ptpc ligand.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder due to the defects of insulin secretion (type 1) and increased cellular resistance to insulin (type 2). Mushrooms were found to be effective for reducing diabetic complications and for decreasing the blood glucose levels. When compared to synthetic drugs, the bioactive compounds isolated from mushrooms seem to be less toxic and free of side effects. The ethanol extracts of Pleurotus florida mushroom was used for the extraction of bioactive compounds. The compounds PFEE-1 to PFEE -14 were screened for drug likeness and molecular properties. For structural molecular biology and computer -assisted drug design, molecular docking is found to be a strong tool. It has been used in an attempt to identify and to expound the mechanism of action of the bioactive compounds in Pleurotus florida with the inhibition of GPCR40, PTPBI, PPAR and DPP4 protein receptor for controlling the blood sugar level. 14 bioactive compounds screened from Pleurotus florida mushroom ethanol extract was docked with the glide software based on the drug-likeness score. Ergosterol was found to be a potent inhibitor of DPP4, GPCR40, PPAR and PTPBI when compared to other bioactive compounds.

The present study deals with the first record of symbiotic crab Harrovia elegans de Man 1887 (Crustacea: Decapoda: Pilumnidae) collected from Tuticorin and Mandapam regions of Gulf of Mannar during February 2019. This crab species affiliates to family Pilumnidae, under the Decapoda infra-order Brachyura and is for the first time reported from the Indian mainland. The present specimens (One adult male, one adult female and a sub-adult) were collected from a depth of 5 m and showing symbiotic association with the crinoids, Comanthus wahlbergii. Although widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific region, this is the first report of this species from the Indian mainland.

A novel series of thiolato bridged manganese(I) based flexible/semiflexible ester functionalized dinuclear metallacycles have been obtained under one-pot reaction conditions. Three precursor self-assembly of Mn2(CO)10, diphenyl disulfide, and flexible/semiflexible ester functionalized ditopic pyridyl ligands (L) [L = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp), o-phenylene diisonicotinate (pdi), ethanediyl di-4 pyridine carboxylate (edp), 1,4-butanediyl di-4-pyridine carboxylate (bdp), 1,6-hexanediyl di-4-pyridine carboxylate (hdp), 4-pyridine carboxylic acid diethylene glycol diester (pcadgd), and 4-pyridine carboxylic acid triethylene glycol diester (pcatgd)] afforded the formation of dinuclear metallacycles with the general formula [{(CO)3Mn(μ-SC6H5)2Mn(CO)3}(μ-L)] (1–7). The metallacycles 1–7 were characterized by IR, NMR, UV/Vis, and ESI-mass spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis. The single-crystal X-ray structures of the metallacycles 1, 2, and 6 revealed the existence of a dinuclear metallacyclic framework. Cytotoxic activities of 1–7 have been evaluated towards various cancer cell lines, together with CO releasing (COR) studies for 1 and 3.

The present study was undertaken to assess the anti-diabetic potential and antioxidant profile of three different varieties of passion fruit that are locally available in Kerala. Even though studies have been done on the chemical composition of passion fruit, very few studies have been reported on the nutrient composition and glycemic response of its locally available varieties. The samples selected were purple passion fruit (Passiflora edulis), yellow passion fruit ( Passiflora edulis var flavicarpa ) and sweet passion fruit ( Passiflora ligularis ). The nutrients vitamin C, total carotene as well as total fiber content were analysed. Preliminary phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of tannins, alkaloids and flavonoids in all three samples. Sweet passion fruit had the highest content of total phenol followed by yellow and purple varieties respectively. The free radical scavenging activity of the selected varieties of passion fruit was measured using the stable radical DPPH assay. Alpha amylase inhibition assay was done to assess the anti-diabetic activity. Yellow passion fruit had the highest content of vitamin C (36.34mg/100g) and total carotene (91μg/100g) as well as total antioxidant activity (IC 50 of 149.623) whereas sweet passion fruit exhibited highest fiber content (11.5mg/100g) and total phenol content (31.4mg GAE/g). The highest anti-diabetic property was shown by the purple passion fruit (146). Thus the present study revealed that the selected varieties of passion fruit have good antioxidant profile and significant anti-diabetic potential.

Web application vulnerabilities enable attackers to perform malicious activities that can cause huge losses to the users. Web application vulnerability scanners are automated Black-Box testing tools that identify the vulnerabilities prevailing in a web application. The scanners have gained popularity with time due to its ability to detect the application architecture weaknesses without accessing the source codes of the target web applications. However, a scanner has its own limitations as well. This paper focuses on analyzing the web application vulnerability scanners’ ability to detect SQL injection and therefore we test a set of three open-source scanners against a set of custom-built test samples with various categories of SQL injection.
