Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly lethal malignant tumor characterized by a complex tumor microenvironment (TME) with significant heterogeneity, posing immense challenges for devising effective therapeutic strategies. This study aims to elucidate the dynamic changes in the TME during PDAC progression and develop a prognostic model using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. We utilized a previously published comprehensive dataset comprising 31 samples (including 8 PDAC I, 9 PDAC II, 6 PDAC III, and 8 PDAC IV) to characterize the changes in TME composition with PDAC progression through advanced scRNA-seq analysis. We found that as cancer progresses, immune cells gradually become a predominant component in late-stage PDAC. We defined a novel Treg and exhausted T cell signature gene, TNFRSF4. Additionally, we identified a prognostic gene set (RPS10, MIF, MT-ATP6, CSTB, IFI30, NPC2, BTG1, CTSD, FCGR2A, SEC61G, IER3, HSPB1, HMOX1, and ZFP36L1) and differentiated high-risk from low-risk PDAC patients based on median risk score threshold. Based on these findings, we developed a novel prognostic model that identifies poorer prognosis in high-risk groups. Furthermore, our analysis revealed significant interactions between cells at different stages of PDAC and identified three promising therapeutic agents (XR-11576, Ixabepilone, and AMONAFIDE) based on correlated genes. Finally, molecular docking studies validated their potential by confirming stable binding with key protein targets. This study not only provides insights into the evolving TME of PDAC but also offers a new prognostic model and potential therapeutic strategies, contributing to improved management and treatment of this aggressive cancer.

Abstract False data injection attack in smart grid might does not launch interference and attack behaviors, so that this attack is difficult found. To address this, this paper proposed a conformal neural network detection method being sensitive to false data. Firstly, using the conformity scores calculated by the mathematical probability to identify the false data. Then, the neural network learns a boundary separating false data and normal data on the conformal region yielded by the conformity scores. Finally, experiments on simulated and real datasets indicate that the proposed method obtains 0.9738 detected accuracy, and the sensitivity to false data reaches 0.9387, defeating against the competitors, moreover, the proposed method does not exhibit exponential detection time as data volume augments. We demonstrate that evaluating the consistency between the data does not rely on data distributions and the operation status in this real-time system like smart grids, since conformity scores can calculate the mathematical probability following the same data distribution. The boundaries learned from conformal regions are independent of data distribution and the information of operation status in smart grids. This evaluation manner of data consistency and that of boundary learning are equally applicable to the identification and separation of those false data injected into other real-time systems.

Wetland vegetation is the most crucial primary producer in wetland ecosystems and serves as an indicator of ecosystem health. After 2003, significant changes occurred in the “river-lake relationship” between Poyang Lake and the Yangtze River, with intensified dry conditions in autumn and winter leading to a shortened inundation period for sandbanks and significant changes in the community structure and spatial distribution of wetland vegetation. By coupling a Gaussian model with a population dynamics model, this study simulated the response of wetland vegetation to inundation duration under different hydrological year types, revealing the relationship between vegetation distribution and inundation duration. Key parameters, such as growth and mortality rates, were identified, and the vegetation succession and spatial distribution of Poyang Lake wetlands were simulated for five representative years: a wet year (2010), a normal year (2001), a dry year (2006), an extreme wet year (1998), and an extreme dry year (2022). The results showed that the response of wetland vegetation to inundation duration followed a Gaussian curve, with each species exhibiting an optimal range of inundation durations. Mortality rates increased when the duration fell outside this range. In 2010, the total area of wetland vegetation was similar to that in a normal year, but the proportions of different plant species varied significantly. Compared to 2001, the areas of Phalaris arundinacea and Polygonum criopolitanum increased by 50.92 % and 24.86 %, respectively, while the areas of Phragmites australis and Triarrhena lutarioriparia decreased by 71.66 % and 83.49 %. In 1998, the total vegetation area shrank considerably, with a 54.74 % reduction compared to 2001 and a 64.32 % reduction compared to 2006. In contrast, the total wetland vegetation area reached its maximum in the extreme dry year of 2022, increasing by 41.35 % compared to 2001. Among dominant species, Carex spp., Cynodon dactylon, and Phragmites australis expanded significantly in dry years, while Phalaris arundinacea and Polygonum criopolitanum were better adapted to flood conditions.

BackgroundIn recent years, the development of telemedicine and eHealth services has led to the rapid worldwide growth of Internet hospitals, which played a significant role during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. However, little is known about the characteristics and safety of Internet hospital outpatient pharmacy services (IHOPSs), which represent a new model of pharmaceutical services.ObjectiveThis study aimed to reveal the comprehensive characteristics and safety of whole-course-based IHOPSs in a general tertiary hospital in western China.MethodsWe established a whole-course–based IHOPS model. A total of 373,936 online prescriptions placed from February 1, 2020 to January 31, 2023 were analyzed. These included information on patients, prescriptions, and deliveries; error rates for prescription reviews and medication dispensations; economic value; and degree of patient satisfaction. Over the course of the study, a total of 373,936 prescriptions representing 351,884 patients and 945,172 medications were delivered to 22 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, and 4 municipalities in China.ResultsIHOPSs saved patients more than 320,376 days (7,689,036 h) and RMB (Renminbi) ¥94.05 million in costs. The error rates of prescription review and dispensing were 0.0011% and 0.0008%, respectively. The infectious disease department (n = 63,903; 17.09%) ranked first in the number of prescriptions written for all three consecutive years. Of the 373,936 delivered prescriptions, 90.15% (337,104/373,936) were sent to Sichuan.ConclusionThe IHOPS was found to be efficient, convenient, and safe because it handled the challenge of precisely and safely delivering medications to patients on time during and to the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. It provided patients with safe and convenient pharmaceutical services unlimited by geography or time zones. Widespread use of this service could help alleviate pressure on offline pharmacists, giving them the time and resources to provide other professional services. Our model can therefore serve as a useful reference for policymakers to support the development of Internet pharmaceutical services. Further efforts are needed to regulate and standardize the management of this novel service.

Abstract The interlayer twist angle endows a new degree of freedom to manipulate the spatially separated interlayer excitons in van der Waals (vdWs) heterostructures. Herein, we find that the band-edge Γ-Γ interlayer excitation directly forms interlayer exciton in InSe/Sb heterostructure, different from that of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) heterostructures in two-step processes by intralayer excitation and transfer. By tuning the interlayer coupling and breathing vibrational modes associated with the Γ-Γ photoexcitation, the interlayer twist can significantly adjust the excitation peak position and lifetime of recombination. The interlayer excitation peak in InSe/Sb heterostructure can shift ~400 meV, and the interlayer exciton lifetime varies in hundreds of nanoseconds as a periodic function of the twist angle (0°–60°). This work enriches the understanding of interlayer exciton formation and facilitates the artificial excitonic engineering of vdWs heterostructures.

Abstract A wideband end‐fire stepped slot antenna with gain enhancement and filtering capability is proposed. On one hand, a parasitic dipole serving as a director is introduced in the stepped slot to improve the radiation gain of the slot antenna without increasing its physical size. It is found that a gain enhancement of about 2 dB can be achieved after adopting such approach. On the other hand, an absorptive branch possessing a nearly complementary frequency response with regard to the one of the slot antenna is in‐parallel loaded at the microstrip feedline. It allows the partial dissipation of the out‐of‐band/non‐radiated RF‐signal power of the antenna to attain both an RF‐quasi‐absorptive behaviour and filtering capability. It is found that after loading the dissipative branch, the out‐of‐band radiation efficiency of the slot antenna is reduced to less than 20%. The measured results of a fabricated proof‐of‐concept antenna prototype show a reasonable agreement with the simulated ones and verify the RF performance merits of the proposed stepped slot antenna, such as wide RF operating band covering the 3.39−4.73‐GHz range, end‐fire radiation with a front‐to‐back ratio (FBR) above 10 dB, flat radiation gain, and co‐integrated filtering functionality with RF‐quasi‐absorptive capability.

ObjectiveTo examine the effects of long-term aerobic exercise on oxidative stress and learning memory ability of APP/PS1 mice, focusing on the hippocampal Keap1, Nrf2, HO-1, and GPX4 proteins.MethodsThirty APP/PS1 double transgenic AD mice were randomly divided into three groups: model group, short-term exercise group, and long-term exercise group, with 10 mice in each group. Male non-transgenic mice of the same age served as the control group. The groups underwent swimming training for 6 weeks and 12 weeks, respectively. After the intervention, cognitive abilities were assessed using the Morris water maze test. Hippocampal tissue samples were analyzed for changes in superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content. Abstract A kind of all‐dielectric circularly polarised (CP) loop antenna made of high‐permittivity material is proposed. The leaky‐wave radiation from a high‐permittivity dielectric waveguide is utilised here to support the operation of the proposed antenna. A non‐closed dielectric loop covering a three‐quarter circle is adopted to generate CP radiation and it is connected with the dielectric ground via one of bending ends to form an all‐in‐one structure of the antenna. The other end is also bent and vertical to the ground, but hanging in the air for probe feed. As two kinds of typical high‐permittivity dielectric materials, zirconia ceramic and pure water are used to implement the proposed design respectively. On one hand, an all‐ceramic CP loop antenna made of zirconia is proposed. And benefiting from the low loss and high melting point of zirconia, the proposed ceramic antenna has superiority in radiation efficiency and could adapt to a harsh environment. On the other hand, by using pure water and transparent container, a fully‐transparent CP water loop antenna can be obtained. Finally, a 3‐D printing technology is adopted in the manufacturing of ceramic structure and resin container. Measured results of both antennas demonstrate the validity of the proposed design.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a prevalent malignancy affecting multiple organs in the human body, including the oral cavity, esophagus, cervix, and skin. Given its significant incidence and mortality rates, researchers are actively seeking effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. In recent years, exosomes and their molecular cargo, particularly circular RNA (circRNA), have emerged as promising areas of investigation in SCC research. Exosomes are small vesicles released into the extracellular environment by cells that contain biomolecules that reflect the physiological state of the cell of origin. CircRNAs, known for their unique covalently closed loop structure and stability, have garnered special attention in oncology and are closely associated with tumorigenesis, progression, metastasis, and drug resistance. Interestingly, exosomal circRNAs have been identified as ideal biomarkers for noninvasive cancer diagnosis and prognosis assessment. This article reviews the progress in research on exosomal circRNAs, focusing on their expression patterns, functions, and potential applications as biomarkers in SCC, aiming to provide new insights and strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of SCC.

In this paper, a kind of half-loop Yagi-Uda antenna made of high-permittivity dielectric is proposed to realize end-fire radiation. As two typical materials with high permittivity, low-loss zirconia ceramic and liquid pure water are here employed for the proposed antenna to attain high radiation efficiency and support the characteristic of pattern reconfigurability, respectively. The thin dielectric waveguide with high permittivity is here used as the metal wire of conventional wire antennas, due to its traveling-wave radiation under TM01 mode. The different radiation characteristics of the electrically small loop and full-wave loop antennas are discussed. And the dielectric large half-loop antenna with ground plane and bi-directional radiation is utilized to form a Yagi-Uda array for desired end-fire radiation. Moreover, circular loop elements are subsequently transformed into rectangular shape to reduce the profile of antenna and a comparison between the conventional metal Yagi-Uda antenna and the proposed dielectric one is provided. It is found that the dielectric parasitic element could play a more flexible role. Both ceramic and pure-water antenna prototypes are fabricated and tested. Measured results match the simulated ones well, which validates the predicted antenna performance.

A class of dielectric filtering inverted-L antenna with reflective- and quasi-reflectionless-type radiation nulls is proposed to achieve wideband or dual-band operation. To this aim, a dual-function dissipative branch is exploited, which is in-parallel loaded at the feedline of the microstrip-fed dielectric inverted-L antenna. This absorptive branch, which is terminated in a grounded resistor, exhibits a quasi-complementary frequency response with regard to the one of the antenna. In this manner, it can mostly absorb the out-of-band RF-signal power not radiated by the antenna, hence creating quasi-reflectionless-type radiation nulls. Furthermore, the loaded branch can also generate a notch band giving rise to a reflective-type radiation null, which comes determined by the length of the branch and it is independent of the quasi-reflectionless radiation nulls. Thus, by controlling the spectral location of the notch band out of or within the operational frequency band of the dielectric inverted-L antenna, wideband or dual-band operational capabilities can be functionalized into it. For experimental-validation purposes, proof-of-concept prototypes for the two devised wideband and dual-band antenna approaches are designed, manufactured, and characterized. The measured results are in reasonably-close agreement with the simulated ones. The measured fractional impedance bandwidths of the two antenna prototypes are 28.3% (wideband one), 3.1% and 4.2% (dual-band one), respectively.

Abstract Background Secukinumab is a fully human IgG1κ MoAb that selectively binds to IL-17A with high affinity, and it has been proven effective for the treatment of psoriasis. However, the immune response pathways and mechanisms during the treatment are still masked. Therefore, the current study was designed to investigate the potential immune response genes via bioinformatics approaches. Methods Gene expression data of severe plaque-type psoriasis was retrieved from the GEO database. Quantification of immune infiltration by ssGSEA and identification of differentially infiltrated immune cells were conducted to validate the treatment effect of secukinumab. After data processing, differentially expressed genes were identified between the treatment and untreated group. TC-seq was employed to analyze the trend of gene expression and clustering analysis. IL-17 therapeutic immune response genes were selected by taking the intersection of the genes inside the key cluster set and the MAD3-PSO geneset. Based on these therapeutic response genes, protein–protein interaction networks were built for key hub gene selection. These hub genes would work as potential immune response genes, and be validated via an external dataset. Results Enrichment scores calculated by ssGSEA illustrated that the immune infiltration level of T cells had a strong difference before and after medication, which validated the treatment effect of Secukinumab. 1525 genes that have significantly different expression patterns before and after treatment were extracted for further analysis, and the enrichment result shows that these genes have the function related to epidermal development, differentiation, and keratinocytes differentiation. After overlapping candidate genes with MAD3-PSO gene set, 695 genes were defined as anti-IL7A treatment immune response genes, which were mainly enriched in receptor signaling and IL-17 signaling pathways. Hub gene were pinpointed from the PPI network constructed by anti-IL7A treatment immune response genes, their expression pattern fits TC-seq gene expression pattern. Conclusion Our study revealed the potential anti-IL7A treatment immune response genes, and the central hub genes, which may act critical roles in Secukinumab, induced immune response. This would open up a novel and effective avenue for the treatment of psoriasis.

Abstract Background Drug‒drug interactions (DDIs) are reactions between two or more drugs, i.e., possible situations that occur when two or more drugs are used simultaneously. DDIs act as an important link in both drug development and clinical treatment. Since it is not possible to study the interactions of such a large number of drugs using experimental means, a computer-based deep learning solution is always worth investigating. We propose a deep learning-based model that uses twin convolutional neural networks to learn representations from multimodal drug data and to make predictions about the possible types of drug effects. Results In this paper, we propose a novel convolutional neural network algorithm using a Siamese network architecture called CNN-Siam. CNN-Siam uses a convolutional neural network (CNN) as a backbone network in the form of a twin network architecture to learn the feature representation of drug pairs from multimodal data of drugs (including chemical substructures, targets and enzymes). Moreover, this network is used to predict the types of drug interactions with the best optimization algorithms available (RAdam and LookAhead). The experimental data show that the CNN-Siam achieves an area under the precision-recall (AUPR) curve score of 0.96 on the benchmark dataset and a correct rate of 92%. These results are significant improvements compared to the state-of-the-art method (from 86 to 92%) and demonstrate the robustness of the CNN-Siam and the superiority of the new optimization algorithm through ablation experiments. Conclusion The experimental results show that our multimodal siamese convolutional neural network can accurately predict DDIs, and the Siamese network architecture is able to learn the feature representation of drug pairs better than individual networks. CNN-Siam outperforms other state-of-the-art algorithms with the combination of data enhancement and better optimizers. But at the same time, CNN-Siam has some drawbacks, longer training time, generalization needs to be improved, and poorer classification results on some classes.

Background: Abelson interactor Family Member 3 (ABI3) encodes protein that not only suppresses the ectopic metastasis of tumor cells but also hinders their migration. Although ABI3 had been found to modulate the advancement of diverse neoplasms, there is no comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of its effects.Methods: The transcriptomics data of neoplasm and normal tissues were retrieved from the Genomic Data Commons (GDC) data portal, and UCSC XENA database. To gather protein information for ABI3, Human Protein Atlas (HPA) and GeneMANIA websites were utilized. Additionally, Tumor Immune Single-cell Hub (TISCH) database was consulted to determine the primary cell types expressing ABI3 in cancer microenvironments. Univariate Cox regression approach was leveraged to evaluate ABI3’s prognostic role across cancers. The Cbioportal and Gene Set Cancer Analysis (GSCA) website were leveraged to scrutinize the genomic landscape information across cancers. TIMER2.0 was leveraged to probe the immune cell infiltrations associated with ABI3 across cancers. The associations of ABI3 with immune-related genes were analyzed through Spearman correlation method. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) were utilized to search associated biological pathways. The CellMiner database and molecular docking were implemented to identify potential interactions between the ABI3 protein and specific anticarcinogen.Findings: ABI3 expression and its ability to predict prognosis varied distinct tumor, with particularly high expression observed in Tprolif cells and monocytes/macrophages. Copy number variation (CNV) and methylation negatively correlated with ABI3 expression in the majority of malignancies. Corresponding mutation survival analysis indicated that the mutation status of ABI3 was strongly connected to the prognosis of LGG patients. ABI3 expression was linked to immunotherapeutic biomarkers and response in cancers. ESTIMATE and immune infiltrations analyses presented ABI3 association with immunosuppression. ABI3 was significantly correlated with immunoregulators and immune-related pathways. Lastly, prospective ABI3-targeted drugs were filtered and docked to ABI3 protein.Interpretation: Our study reveals that ABI3 acts as a robust tumor biomarker. Its functions are vital that could inhibit ectopic metastasis of tumor cells and modulate cellular adhesion and migration. The discoveries presented here may have noteworthy consequences for the creation of fresh anticancer suppressors, especially those targeting BRCA.

Abstract The in-depth understanding of the dynamics of COVID-19 transmission among different age groups is of great interest for governments and health authorities so that strategies can be devised to reduce the pandemic’s detrimental effects. We developed the SIRDV-Virulence (Susceptible-Infected-Recovered-Dead-Vaccinated-Virulence) epidemiological model based on a population balance equation to study the effects virus mutants, vaccination strategies, ‘Anti/Non Vaxxer’ proportions, and reinfection rates to provide methods to mitigate COVID-19 transmission among the United States population. Based on publicly available data, we obtain the key parameters governing the spread of the pandemic. The results show that a large fraction of infected cases comes from the adult and children populations in the presence of a highly infectious COVID-19 mutant. Given the situation at the end of July 2021, the results show that prioritizing children and adult vaccinations over that of seniors can contain the spread of the active cases, thereby preventing the healthcare system from being overwhelmed and minimizing subsequent deaths. The model suggests that the only option to curb the effects of this pandemic is to reduce the population of unvaccinated individuals. A higher fraction of ‘Anti/Non-vaxxers’ and a higher reinfection rate can both independently lead to the resurgence of the pandemic.

Anoxia is a common phenomenon at the bottom of large reservoirs during thermal stratification. In an anoxic environment, an increasing amount of reducing substances and nutrients are released and settle at the hypolimnion of the reservoir, leading to water quality deterioration and eutrophication. This work presents a case study on Daheiting Reservoir, a part of the Water Diversion Project from the Luanhe River to Tianjin city. With the monitored data of the water temperature and dissolved oxygen content in the reservoir, and based on the mechanism of redox reactions, the water quality response to the hypolimnetic anoxia in Daheiting Reservoir was systematically analyzed. It was found that the release of total phosphorus from the sediments in Daheiting Reservoir was a joint effect of the biological and chemical processes, and the redox reaction in the anoxic zone boosted release of phosphorus. Anoxia in the reservoir caused the ammonia nitrogen released from sediments in the reservoir to accumulate at the hypolimnion, which increased the concentration of ammonia nitrogen in the water. Anoxia in the reservoir led to an increase in the concentration of iron and manganese, which accounts for the major driving factor of release of iron and manganese. HIGHLIGHTS This paper describes in detail the formation and development process of the hypoxic zone of the reservoir, and clarifies the temporal and spatial changes of the hypoxic zone of the reservoir.; This paper illustrates the accelerated release process of polluted sediments under hypoxic conditions, proves the relationship between hypoxia and deterioration of water quality.;

Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) concentrations are the fundamental factors affecting the nutrient status and productivity of lakes, and extrinsic inputs of N and P primarily cause eutrophication of lakes. In this essay, taking Hongze Lake as the study area, a two-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality mathematical model of Hongze Lake was constructed, and based on calibration and verification of parameters, numerical simulation was performed on the changes in N and P concentrations in this lake after water transfer. The study results exhibited that before and after project construction, the absolute values of rates of changes in the annual average concentrations of ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), and permanganate index (CODMn) in Hongze Lake were all lower than 20%, which demonstrates marginal changes in the annual average concentrations. By analyzing the seasonal and spatial distribution characteristics of the concentrations of N, P and other pollutants in the lake area before and after the project operation, it is found that the main reasons that affect the water quality change in the lake area after the project operation are the newly added water transfer volume, water transfer location, and water transfer quality. HIGHLIGHTS In this paper, a hydrodynamic-transport water quality coupling model was constructed.; According to the results of model operation, after operations of the second phase of the eastern route project, the subject is the most serious pollution.; Factors affecting the water quality in the lake can be explained in two aspects.;

Evapotranspiration in the hydrologic cycle realizes the energy and water transport in the atmosphere. Evapotranspiration differences concerning land-use types provide data for studying the evapotranspiration of river basins. To investigate the evapotranspiration in the reservoir under artificial regulation, we selected the river basin in the Sanmenxia Reservoir as the study area. Data sources are two-period Landsat8 OIL_TIRS remote sensing images during the growing season of wetland plants. Based on meteorological data in this river basin, we investigated the evapotranspiration differences of different land-use types using the Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land model. The FAO Penman–Monteith formula verified the remote sensing inversion results. Analysis shows that significant differences were manifested between wetland and non-wetland landscapes in evapotranspiration among different land-use types. Non-wetland landscapes accounted for about 97.23% of the river basin's total area, but their daily average evapotranspiration was only 7.26 mm/d. Those of wetland landscapes were 2.77% and 12.17 mm/d. In this river basin, the differences between the wetland and non-wetland landscapes in evapotranspiration are mainly associated with plant diversity, vegetation coverage and surface temperature (beyond other driving factors like meteorological and hydrological solar radiation factors). BackgroundPARP inhibitors (PARPis) are novel molecular targeted therapeutics for inhibition of DNA repair in tumor cells, which are commonly used in ovarian cancer. Recent case reports have indicated that haemorrhages-related adverse events may be associated with PARPis. However, little is known about the characteristics and signal strength factors of this kind of adverse event.MethodsA pharmacovigilance study from January 2004 to March 2022 based on the FDA adverse event reporting system (FAERS) database was conducted by adopting the proportional imbalance method based on the four algorithms, including the reporting odds ratio (ROR), proportional reporting ratio (PRR), Bayesian confidence propagation neural networks (BCPNN) and multi-item gamma Poisson shrinker (MGPS).Results725 cases of PARPi-haemorrhages-related adverse events were identified with a fatality rate of 4.72% (30/725) and a median age of 67 years. About 88% of the adverse events occurred within 6 months, and the median duration (IQR) was 68 days. Most adverse events (n=477, 75.11%) were related to the treatment of niraparib. Importantly, niraparib exposure was associated with a significant increase in haemorrhages-related adverse events (ROR (95% CI), 1.13(1.03,1.23), PRR (χ2), 1.12(7.32), IC (IC 025), 0.17(0.15). In addition, petechiae, gingival bleeding, bloody urine, as well as rectal haemorrhage should be monitored when using niraparib.ConclusionRecognition and management of PARPi-haemorrhages-related adverse events is of significance to clinical practice. In this study, we provided a safety signal that haemorrhage-related adverse events should be monitored for when using niraparib. However, larger and more robust post-market safety studies are needed to improve the quality of this evidence.

Ephedra is one of the world's most important plants, used in medicine, plants and ecology. Most Ephedra grows in plain areas and is stable. But the plateau environment is special, with the change of altitude, the variety difference of plateau Ephedra saxatilis is very obvious. E. saxatilis metabolism on the Tibetan Plateau is not only affected by altitude, but also environmental conditions such as climate conditions and different soil components. However, the change mechanism of E. saxatilis alkaloids in special ecological environment is still unclear. Therefore, we analyzed the metabolic and altitude of E. saxatilis species in the Tibetan Plateau. Through the functional analysis of Kyoto Metabolism and Metabolomic Encyclopedia (KEGG), we can determine that the number of E. saxatilis metabolites decreases with the increase of altitude, and there are differences in metabolism among the three mountains. This was confirmed by univariate analysis of the top five metabolic pathways. Based on the analysis of soil and metabolomics, it was found that soil water content was also a factor affecting E. saxatilis metabolism. According to the difference of vertical height gradient, ephedrine and pseudephedrine showed the same change in vertical altitude under different mountains. Ephedrine increased as the altitude gradient increased, and pseudoephedrine decreased as the altitude gradient decreased. Our results provide valuable information for further study of metabolic mechanism and efficacy stability. It provides useful reference for the research of E. saxatilis planting in special area.

NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) is one of the most common and lethal malignant tumors, with low 5-year overall survival rate. Curcumol showed antitumor activity in several cancers, but evidence about its effect on NSCLC remains unclear. In the present study, we found that Curcumol markedly inhibited NSCLC cells proliferation, migration and invasion. Endothelial cells are an important part of tumor microenvironment. Tube formation assay and wound healing assay indicated that A549 derived conditioned medium affected HUVECs (human umbilical vein endothelial cells). Mechanistically, Curcumol downregulated the expression of SP1 (specificity protein 1) while upregulated miR-125b-5p, followed by decreasing VEGFA expression in NSCLC cells. Furthermore, overexpression of SP1 partially reversed the inhibitory effect of Curcumol on A549 and H1975 cell viability and VEGFA expression. Inhibition of miR-125b-5p presented similar effect. Interestingly, there was mutual modulation between SP1 and miR-125b-5p. Collectively, our study revealed that Curcumol inhibited cell growth and angiogenesis of NSCLC in vitro and in vivo, possibly through SP1/miR-125b-5p/VEGFA regulatory mechanism. These findings may provide effective therapy strategies for NSCLC treatment.

This work proposes a low-profile circularly polarized folded reflectarray antenna (CPFRA). Compared to traditional CPFRA that comprise the main reflectarray, a polarization grid (PG), and a linear-to-circular polarization (LP-CP) converter, the proposed CPFRA utilizes a polarization-sensitive LP-CP converter that plays the roles of both PG and LP-CP converter to minimize the CPFRA profile. One period of the polarization-sensitive LP-CP converter consists of an LP and a CP patch on the bottom and top layer of the substrates, respectively, which are connected by a metalized via. Due to its frequency-selective characteristic, the polarization-sensitive LP-CP surface can simultaneously reflect the x-polarized waves and transfer the received y-polarized waves into the CP state. A 1-bit unit cell at the bottom layer is adopted for polarization conversion and phase shift. A planar patch antenna is integrated as the primary feeding source. A high-gain circularly polarized folded reflectarray antenna at the X-band is designed, fabricated, and measured. Both simulated and measured results demonstrate the advantages of high gain and a lower profile of the proposed CPFRA compared to those in its traditional counterparts.

Herbal medicines have gained recognition among physicians and patients due to their lower adverse effects compared to modern medicines. They are extensively used to treat various diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular issues, chronic inflammation, microbial contamination, diabetes, obesity, and hepatic disorders, among others. Unfortunately, the clinical application of herbal medicines is limited by their low solubility and inadequate bioavailability. Utilizing herbal medicines in the form of nanocrystals (herbal medicine nanocrystals) has shown potential in enhancing solubility and bioavailability by reducing the particle size, increasing the specific surface area, and modifying the absorption mechanisms. Multiple studies have demonstrated that these nanocrystals significantly improve drug efficacy by reducing toxicity and increasing bioavailability. This review comprehensively examines therapeutic approaches based on herbal medicine nanocrystals. It covers the preparation principles, key factors influencing nucleation and polymorphism control, applications, and limitations. The review underscores the importance of optimizing delivery systems for successful herbal medicine nanocrystal therapeutics. Furthermore, it discusses the main challenges and opportunities in developing herbal medicine nanocrystals for the purpose of treating conditions such as cancer, inflammatory diseases, cardiovascular disorders, mental and nervous diseases, and antimicrobial infections. In conclusion, we have deliberated regarding the hurdles and forthcoming outlook in the realm of nanotoxicity, in vivo kinetics, herbal ingredients as stabilizers of nanocrystals, and the potential for surmounting drug resistance through the utilization of nanocrystalline formulations in herbal medicine. We anticipate that this review will offer innovative insights into the development of herbal medicine nanocrystals as a promising and novel therapeutic strategy.

This paper presents a novel method for cross-band scattering cancelation in closely-spaced antennas inspired by absorptive/reflectionless filtering principles. Prior-art approaches that combine a bandpass-filter (BPF) unit and an antenna in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems can improve cross-band isolation between the antenna ports. However, such procedure is ineffective in suppressing cross-band scattering, which leads to radiation-pattern distortion. This is because in closely-packed antennas each radiating element behaves as an external source for the others, so that it induces currents into them. To overcome this problem, a method originating from absorptive/reflectionless filtering techniques is reported here and applied to a dual-antenna scenario. In complementary-diplexer-based reflectionless BPFs, an absorptive bandstop-filter-(BSF)-type branch loaded by a resistor is utilized to absorb the out-of-band RF power not transmitted by the main BPF channel. By using this concept in a first patch-type antenna and owing to the reciprocity principle, the RF coupled energy or induced currents in the first antenna due to the surrounding antenna can be absorbed. Thus, radiation-pattern distortion for the surrounding antenna is avoided. Equivalent-circuit, simulated, and measured results are provided to show the effectiveness of this engineered scattering-suppression method, which is believed to be promising for application in cross-band multi-antenna systems.

This paper is concerned with the design of reconfigurable antennas based on pure water. Being a transparent, flexible, and readily available liquid, pure water can form a cylindrical stream that can be used to guide a leaky electromagnetic wave. By properly selecting the attenuation and phase constants of the leaky electromagnetic wave, the radiation characteristics of water antennas can be designed to suit different application requirements. By controlling the flow or size and shape of water, one can readily realize reconfigurable antennas of different operating frequencies, radiation patterns, and polarizations. Three novel antennas based on pure water are presented showing both simulated and measured results for their radiation performance. Topics that are worthwhile investigating in the future are also suggested.

Abstract Considering looming fatality and economic recession, effective policy making based on ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is an urgent and standing issue. Numerous issues for controlling infection have arisen from public discussion led by medical professionals. Yet understanding of these factors has been necessarily qualitative and control measures to correct unfavorable trends specific to an infection area have been lacking. The logical implement for control is a large scale stochastic model with countless parameters lacking robustness and requiring enormous data. This paper presents a remedy for this vexing problem by proposing an alternative approach. Machine learning has come to play a widely circulated role in the study of complex data in recent times. We demonstrate that when machine learning is employed together with the mechanistic framework of a mathematical model, there can be a considerably enhanced understanding of complex systems. A mathematical model describing the viral infection dynamics reveals two transmissibility parameters influenced by the management strategies in the area for the control of the current pandemic. Both parameters readily yield the peak infection rate and means for flattening the curve, which is correlated to different management strategies by employing machine learning, enabling comparison of different strategies and suggesting timely alterations. Treatment of population data with the model shows that restricted non-essential business closure, school closing and strictures on mass gathering influence the spread of infection. While a rational strategy for initiation of an economic reboot would call for a wider perspective of the local economics, the model can speculate on its timing based on the status of the infection as reflected by its potential for an unacceptably renewed viral onslaught.

It is an essential method for healthy Selenium (Se) supplementation to convert exogenous Se into organic Se via crops. Brassica juncea (L.) Czern (leaf mustard) was employed as plant material in this investigation and was treated with sodium selenite (Na2SeO3). Its physiological indicators, nutritional quality, antioxidant enzyme activity, total Se content, and Se morphology were all evaluated. The absorption, transportation, and transformation mechanisms of Se in mustard were studied using transcriptome data. The results revealed that low concentration of Se treatment promoted the growth of mustard, while high concentration Se treatment inhibited it. The concentration of 10 mg/L Na2SeO3 treatment had the best growth parameters for mustard. Compared to the control group, the content of vitamin C (Vc) and anthocyanins in the treatment group increased to varying degrees, while the content of flavonoids, total phenols, soluble sugar, and soluble protein increased first and then decreased. Five Se forms, Se (IV), Se (VI), selenocystine(SeCys2), selenomethionine (SeMet), and methylselenocysteine (MeSeCys), were detected in the Na2SeO3 treatment group, with organic Se accounting for over 95%. Na2SeO3 treatment can significantly reduce the accumulation of ROS in mustard plants and enhance their stress resistance. Transcriptome data and metabolite association analysis showed that PHO1-H8 promoted the absorption of Na2SeO3 by mustard roots, while SULTR3;3 and SULTR4;1 promoted the transport of Se from roots to the aboveground portion and chloroplasts. Se in mustard was transformed into SeMet, SeCys, MeSeCys, and selenoprotein through the action of genes such as APS, APR, and SEP1, and stored in plant leaves.

Cadmium (Cd) is a common agricultural soil pollutant, which does serious harm to the environment and the human body. In this study, Brassica juncea was treated with different concentrations of CdCl2 and Na2SeO3. Then, physiological indexes and transcriptome were measured to reveal the mechanisms by which Se reduces the inhibition and toxicity of Cd in B. juncea. The results showed that Se alleviated the inhibitive Cd effects on seedling biomass, root length, and chlorophyll, and promoted the adsorption of Cd by pectin and lignin in the root cell wall (CW). Se also alleviated the oxidative stress induced by Cd, and reduced the content of MDA in cells. As a result, SeCys and SeMet alleviated the transport of Cd to the shoots. Transcriptome data showed that the bivalent cation transporter MPP and ABCC subfamily participated in the separation of Cd in vacuoles, CAL1 was related to the chelation of Cd in the cytoplasm of cells, and ZIP transporter 4 reduced the transport of Cd to the shoots. These results indicated that Se alleviated the damage of Cd in plants and decreased its transport to the shoots by improving the antioxidant system, enhancing the ability of the CW to adsorb Cd, reducing the activity of Cd transporters, and chelating Cd.

It is an important way for healthy Selenium (Se) supplement to transform exogenous Se into organic Se through crops. In the present study, Vigna unguiculata was selected as a test material and sprayed with biological nano selenium (SeNPs) and Na2SeO3, and its nutrient composition, antioxidant capacity, total Se and organic Se content were determined, respectively. Further, the response of ABC transporter family members in cowpea to different exogenous Se treatments was analyzed by transcriptome sequencing combined with different Se forms. The results show that the soluble protein content of cowpea increased after twice Se treatment. SeNPs treatment increased the content of cellulose in cowpea pods. Na2SeO3 treatment increased the content of vitamin C (Vc) in cowpea pods. Se treatments could significantly increase the activities of Peroxidase (POD), polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and catalase (CAT) in cowpea pods and effectively maintain the activity of Superoxide dismutase (SOD). SeNPs can reduce the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) in pods. After Se treatment, cowpea pods showed a dose-effect relationship on the absorption and accumulation of total Se, and Na2SeO3 treatment had a better effect on the increase of total Se content in cowpea pods. After treatment with SeNPs and Na2SeO3, the Se species detected in cowpea pods was mainly SeMet, followed by MeSeCys. Inorganic Se can only be detected in the high concentration treatment group. Analysis of transcriptome data of cowpea treated with Se showed that ABC transporters could play an active role in response to Se stress and Se absorption, among which ABCB, ABCC and ABCG subfamilies played a major role in Se absorption and transportation in cowpea. Further analysis by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) showed that the content of organic Se in cowpea treated with high concentration of SeNPs was significantly and positively correlated with the expression level of three transporters ABCC11, ABCC13 and ABCC10, which means that the ABCC subfamily may be more involved in the transmembrane transport of organic Se in cells.

Erythropoiesis can be regulated by transcriptional, epigenetic, and post-transcriptional mechanisms. Here the authors report that N6-methyladenosine mRNA methyltransferase complex stimulates erythropoiesis by promoting translation of specific mRNAs.

Ginkgolide is a unique terpenoid natural compound in Ginkgo biloba, and it has an important medicinal value. Proper selenium has been reported to promote plant growth and development, and improve plant quality, stress resistance, and disease resistance. In order to study the effects of exogenous selenium (Se) on the physiological growth and the content of terpene triolactones (TTLs) in G. biloba seedlings, the seedlings in this work were treated with Na2SeO3. Then, the physiological indexes, the content of the TTLs, and the expression of the related genes were determined. The results showed that a low dose of Na2SeO3 was beneficial to plant photosynthesis as it promoted the growth of ginkgo seedlings and increased the root to shoot ratio. Foliar Se application significantly increased the content of soluble sugar and protein and promoted the content of TTLs in ginkgo leaves; indeed, it reached the maximum value of 7.95 mg/g in the ninth week, whereas the application of Se to the roots inhibited the synthesis of TTLs. Transcriptome analysis showed that foliar Se application promoted the expression levels of GbMECPs, GbMECT, GbHMGR, and GbMVD genes, whereas its application to the roots promoted the expression of GbDXS and GbDXR genes. The combined analysis results of metabolome and transcriptome showed that genes such as GbDXS, GbDXR, GbHMGR, GbMECPs, and GbCYP450 were significantly positively correlated with transcription factors (TFs) GbWRKY and GbAP2/ERF, and they were also positively correlated with the contents of terpene lactones (ginkgolide A, ginkgolide B, ginkgolide M, and bilobalide). Endogenous hormones (MeJA-ILE, ETH, and GA7) were also involved in this process. The results suggested that Na2SeO3 treatment affected the transcription factors related to the regulation of endogenous hormones in G. biloba, and further regulated the expression of genes related to the terpene synthesis structure, thus promoting the synthesis of ginkgo TTLs.

Plant polyploidization represents an effective means for plants to perpetuate their adaptive advantage in the face of environmental variation. Numerous studies have identified differential responsiveness to environmental cues between polyploids and their related diploids, and polyploids might better adapt to changing environments. However, the mechanism that underlies polyploidization contribution during abiotic stress remains hitherto obscure and needs more comprehensive assessment. In this study, we profile morphological and physiological characteristics, and genome-wide gene expression between an autotetraploid rice and its diploid donor plant following saline stress. The results show that the autotetraploid rice is more tolerant to saline stress than its diploid precursor. The physiological characteristics were rapidly responsive to saline stress in the first 24 h, during which the elevations in sodium ion, superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid were all significantly higher in the autotetraploid than in the diploid rice. Meanwhile, the genome-wide gene expression analysis revealed that the genes related to ionic transport, peroxidase activity, and phytohormone metabolism were differentially expressed in a significant manner between the autotetraploid and the diploid rice in response to saline stress. These findings support the hypothesis that diverse mechanisms exist between the autotetraploid rice and its diploid donor plant in response to saline stress, providing vital information for improving our understanding on the enhanced performance of polyploid plants in response to salt stress.

Pueraria lobata (wild.) Ohwi is a leguminous plant and one of the traditional Chinese herbal medicines. Its puerarin extract is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. This study reported a chromosome-level genome assembly for P. lobata and its characteristics. The genome size was ~939.2 Mb, with a contig N50 of 29.51 Mbp. Approximately 97.82% of the assembled sequences were represented by 11 pseudochromosomes. We identified that the repetitive sequences accounted for 63.50% of the P. lobata genome. A total of 33,171 coding genes were predicted, of which 97.34% could predict the function. Compared with other species, P. lobata had 757 species-specific gene families, including 1874 genes. The genome evolution analysis revealed that P. lobata was most closely related to Glycine max and underwent two whole-genome duplication (WGD) events. One was in a gamma event shared by the core dicotyledons at around 65 million years ago, and another was in the common ancestor shared by legume species at around 25 million years ago. The collinearity analysis showed that 61.45% of the genes (54,579 gene pairs) in G. max and P. lobata had collinearity. In this study, six unique PlUGT43 homologous genes were retrieved from the genome of P. lobata, and no 2-hydroxyisoflavanone 8-C-glucoside was found in the metabolites. This also revealed that the puerarin synthesis was mainly from the glycation of daidzein. The combined transcriptome and metabolome analysis suggested that two bHLHs, six MYBs and four WRKYs were involved in the expression regulation of puerarin synthesis structural genes. The genetic information obtained in this study provided novel insights into the biological evolution of P. lobata and leguminous species, and it laid the foundation for further exploring the regulatory mechanism of puerarin synthesis.

This letter presents a novel multilayer dual-band balanced bandpass filter (BPF) design by using two perturbed circular patch resonators. The TM11 mode and TM21 mode of the resonator with odd-symmetric field distributions are explored to realize the desired differential-mode (DM) transmission and common-mode (CM) suppression. Two circular patches are properly coupled in the back-to-back form to realize a dual-passband balanced response by virtue of coupling apertures etched on the ground. In addition to the internal coupling, the above apertures are also further utilized for the undesired degenerate mode harmonic suppression. Besides, slot perturbations on the patch are introduced to perturb the TM21 resonant mode to independently adjust the center frequency of the higher passband, while the lower passband remains almost unchanged. Thus, two passbands can be flexibly controlled by simultaneously tuning the above slots and size of the patch. For validation, a dual-band balanced BPF prototype is implemented. The results indicate 18 and 26% wide fractional bandwidths centered at 5.5 and 7.5 GHz with return loss higher than 20 dB under DM operation and CM suppression higher than 40 dB over an ultra-wide frequency band.

Summary: Attenuated DNA repair leads to genomic instability and tumorigenesis. BRCA1/BARD1 are the best-known tumor suppressors that promote homology recombination (HR) and arrest cell cycle. However, it remains ambiguous whether and how their E3 ligase activity regulates HR. Here, we demonstrate that upon genotoxic stress, BRCA1 together with BARD1 catalyzes the K48 polyubiquitination on LARP7, a 7SK RNA binding protein known to control RNAPII pausing, and thereby degrades it through the 26S ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Depleting LARP7 suppresses the expression of CDK1 complex, arrests the cell at the G2/M DNA damage checkpoint, and reduces BRCA2 phosphorylation, which thereby facilitates RAD51 recruitment to damaged DNA to enhance HR. Importantly, LARP7 depletion observed in breast cancer patients leads to chemoradiotherapy resistance both in vitro and in vivo. Altogether, this study unveils a mechanism by which BRCA1/BARD1 control HR and cell cycle, and highlights LARP7 as a potential target for cancer prevention and therapy.

Interference is the main factor that leads to the decrease in network performance in wireless mesh networks (WMNs). In this paper, we propose a load-balance and interference-avoid partially overlapped channels assignment (LBIA-POCA) scheme aiming to improve network throughput by the cooperative management of interfaces and channels. This scheme first assigns the interfaces of the neighbor nodes by the Huffman tree-based centralized allocation algorithm. Second, the links are divided into M non-interfering link sets according to the interference model, which are respectively scheduled in M time slots. At last, more time slots are further assigned for the links without interference, increasing the number of links that can be scheduled per time slot. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme performs well in WMNs with hybrid traffic, especially in throughput and packet loss rate.

It is well known that the super-resolution reconstruction method based on sparse representation has a superior research value. However, the sparse coefficients of low-resolution (LR) patches by a classic method are not loyal to high-resolution (HR) patches due to the lack of image structure information. Therefore, based on the sparse representation, a self-similarity learning method is proposed to solve the sparse coefficients so that they are more loyal to HR patches. First, the Gaussian mixture model is used to guide the grouping of internal structure similar patches. The neighbor patches of each group and their corresponding sparse coefficients maintain the local geometric angle unchanged in the embedded spaces. Furthermore, the sparse matrix corresponding to similar patches has the property of low rank to capture the global structure of the data. The coefficients obtained by this method are more satisfied with the reconstruction of HR patches. Therefore, our proposed method obtains more accurate sparse coefficients, improving visual performance and algorithm stability.

In vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), the vehicles will periodically exchange information via broadcasting security-related message, such as the states of vehicles and roads, in which the performance may become worse when the vehicle density increases. To improve the poor performance of network when vehicular density is high, an adaptive back-off scheme based on improved Markov model is proposed in this paper. First, an improved Markov model with a contention window ( $CW$ ) inheritance mechanism is applied to reduce the network load. The vehicle with the improved model will take beacon expiration into account and actively discard expired beacons to relieve the pressure on the channel. Then, an initial $CW$ selection mechanism is designed to improve the efficiency of accessing the channel through providing the optimal initial $CW$ for the vehicles with different densities. Finally, we define a network busy factor to describe the condition of broadcast channel and propose an adaptive back-off algorithm which can dynamically adjust the $CW$ according to the network busy factor. Simulation results show that the new scheme can significantly improve the performance of broadcast.

Promoter proximal RNAPII pausing is a rate-limiting transcriptional mechanism. Chen et al. show that this process is essential in angiogenesis by demonstrating that the endothelial master transcription factor ETS1 promotes global RNAPII pause release, and that this process is governed by VEGF.

AODV routing protocol takes the minimum hop as the only basis in route selection，causing the uneven allocation of resources and reduction in network lifetime.A routing algorithm based on minimum hops and energy of node（AODV-HE）was proposed.By integrating both minimum hop and residual energy of each node，the algorithm optimized the routing mechanism and presented a selection weight of reverse routing，based on which the best route was chosen.Simulation results show that the algorithm can effectively increase packet delivery ratio and reduce the end-end delay，and it can also improve the allocation of network resources and extend network lifetime.

N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) accounts for approximately 0.2% to 0.6% of all adenosine in mammalian mRNA, representing the most abundant internal mRNA modifications. m6A RNA immunoprecipitation followed by high-throughput sequencing (MeRIP-seq) is a powerful technique to map the m6A location transcriptome-wide. However, this method typically requires 300 μg of total RNA, which limits its application to patient tumors. In this study, we present a refined m6A MeRIP-seq protocol and analysis pipeline that can be applied to profile low-input RNA samples from patient tumors. We optimized the key parameters of m6A MeRIP-seq, including the starting amount of RNA, RNA fragmentation, antibody selection, MeRIP washing/elution conditions, methods for RNA library construction, and the bioinformatics analysis pipeline. With the optimized immunoprecipitation (IP) conditions and a postamplification rRNA depletion strategy, we were able to profile the m6A epitranscriptome using 500 ng of total RNA. We identified approximately 12,000 m6A peaks with a high signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio from 2 lung adenocarcinoma (ADC) patient tumors. Through integrative analysis of the transcriptome, m6A epitranscriptome, and proteome data in the same patient tumors, we identified dynamics at the m6A level that account for the discordance between mRNA and protein levels in these tumors. The refined m6A MeRIP-seq method is suitable for m6A epitranscriptome profiling in a limited amount of patient tumors, setting the ground for unraveling the dynamics of the m6A epitranscriptome and the underlying mechanisms in clinical settings.

The adsorption and dissociation of O2 on the M4 (M=Au, Pd, Pt) clusters supported on HfC(001) (Hafnium Carbide) are investigated using ab initio density functional theory calculations. The geometric and electronic structures are analyzed in detail. It is found that the dissociation barriers of O2 on Au4/HfC(001) (0.26 eV), Pd4/HfC(001) (0.49 eV) and Pt4/HfC(001) (0.09 eV) are much smaller than those on the clean surfaces of HfC(001) (1.60 eV), Au(111) (1.37 eV), Pd(111) (1.0 and 0.91 eV) and Pt(111) (0.27–0.7 eV), respectively. The low dissociation barriers imply that the Pt4/HfC(001) exhibits the highest catalytic activity for O2 dissociation, and the Au4/HfC(001) and Pd4/HfC(001) may also be possible substitutes with lower cost for the current Pt/C catalyst for O2 dissociation. The present study is conductive to designing new efficient noble metal catalyst using HfC support for efficiently promoting O2 dissociation.

This paper employs theoretical analysis and exploratory research methods to study the development and application of management accounting in terms of ‘people’ and ‘things’ and their coupling according to HeXie Management Theory. This findings indicate that enterprises should firstly set management accounting objective based on environment, organization and leadership (EOL). Subsequently, they should construct management accounting system and process of ‘things’ guided by Xie Principle, while also establishing an organizational framework of ‘people’ based on the He Principle. The next step involves coupling ‘people’ and ‘things’ in both time and space, followed by evaluating the performance of management accounting. The originality of the study are mainly (1) it adds the element of ‘people’ to the study of management accounting and extends the study to the perspective of integration of ‘people’ and ‘things’; (2)it also combines the HeXie Management Theory for the first time, and innovatively constructs a conceptual model of enterprise management accounting application, which provides a new theoretical basis for the field of management accounting.

The spin-dependent electron transport in the ferrocene-based molecular junctions, in which the molecules are 1,3-substituted and 1,3′-substituted ethynyl ferrocenes, respectively, is studied by the theoretical simulation with nonequilibrium Green’s function and density functional theory. The calculated results suggest that the substitution position of the terminal ethynyl groups has a great effect on the spin-dependent current-voltage properties and the spin filtering efficiency of the molecular junctions. At the lower bias, high spin filtering efficiency is found in 1,3′-substituted ethynyl ferrocene junction, which suggests that the spin filtering efficiency is also dependent on the bias voltage. The different spin-dependent transport properties for the two molecular junctions originate from their different evolutions of spin-up and spin-down energy levels.
