Mn2−xCrxSb2 epitaxial thin films were grown on perovskite oxide single-crystal substrates using the molecular beam epitaxy technique. A magnetic phase diagram has been established for Mn2−xCrxSb2 films in the low doping region.

A novel neurological disorder, shaking mink syndrome (SMS), emerged in Denmark and Sweden in 2000. SMS has seldom been reported in China, but the causative agent has not been detected in the country. SMS outbreaks occurred in multiple provinces in 2020. A total of 44 brain samples from minks associated with SMS were collected from Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Shandong provinces of which 28 samples (63.3%) were SMS-astrovirus (SMS-AstV)-positive by reverse transcription PCR. Histopathological examination revealed non-suppurative encephalitis in three minks. Moreover, the complete coding region sequences (CDSs, 6559 bp) of a sample collected from a 2-month-old mink (termed SMS-AstV-H1, GSA accession No. SAMC816786) were amplified by PCR and Sanger sequencing. The complete CDS and open reading frame 2 sequences of SMS-AstV-H1 were 94.3% and 96.4% identical to an SMS-AstV strain (GenBank accession number: GU985458). Phylogenetically, SMS-AstV-H1 was closely related to an SMS-AstV strain (GU985458). Based on the above results, we describe SMS-AstV-associated encephalitis in farmed minks in China. Future studies need to focus on epidemiology, virus isolation and potential interspecies transmission of SMS-AstV.

Ag mesh transparent conductive films (TCFs) were prepared on the commercial FTO/Glass substrate by ultrafast laser direct writing, trying to improve its overall photoelectric performances. The effects of laser scanning speed, laser fluence and Ag mesh height on photoelectric properties of the Ag mesh/FTO TCFs were systematically studied. The results indicated that a small scanning speed or a high laser fluence would cause excessive ablation of the FTO film and result in an increased Ag mesh line width, which was detrimental to the photoelectric properties of the resulting TCF. It was found that the optimal parameters for fabricating Ag mesh/FTO TCFs were a laser scanning speed of 2200 mm/s, a laser fluence of 0.050 J/cm2 and an Ag mesh height of 2500 nm. The as-fabricated TCF possessed the highest figure of merit of 13.03 × 10−2 Ω−1, which was significantly superior to that of the commercial FTO film. Finally, transparent heaters (THs) were prepared respectively based on the optimal Ag mesh/FTO TCF and the FTO/Glass substrate. The Ag mesh/FTO TH exhibited a more excellent heating performance than the FTO TH, further confirming that the overall photoelectric performance of the FTO/Glass substrate had been greatly improved.

Mixture of Experts (MoE) regression models are widely studied in statistics and machine learning for modeling heterogeneity in data for regression, clustering and classification. Laplace distribution is one of the most important statistical tools to analyze thick and tail data. Laplace Mixture of Linear Experts (LMoLE) regression models are based on the Laplace distribution which is more robust. Similar to modelling variance parameter in a homogeneous population, we propose and study a new novel class of models: heteroscedastic Laplace mixture of experts regression models to analyze the heteroscedastic data coming from a heterogeneous population in this paper. The issues of maximum likelihood estimation are addressed. In particular, Minorization-Maximization (MM) algorithm for estimating the regression parameters is developed. Properties of the estimators of the regression coefficients are evaluated through Monte Carlo simulations. Results from the analysis of two real data sets are presented.

A three-dimensional (3D) binodal 3,5-connected net, {[Cu(MTP)(H2O)](NO3)}n (1) with the Schlafli symbol of {3·72}{32·75·83} can be transformed into a two-dimensional (2D) kagome network with the Schlafli symbol of {32·62·72} in an irreversible single crystal-single crystal (SC-SC) guest-assisted linker exchange process. The product of this SC-SC represents the first luminescent probe for S2- based on triazole ligand.

We report the synthesis of transition-metal-doped ferromagnetic elemental single-crystal semiconductors with quantum oscillations using the physical vapor transport method. The 7.7 atom% Cr-doped Te crystals (Cr_Te) show ferromagnetism, butterfly-like negative magnetoresistance in the low temperature (< 3.8 K) and low field (< 0.15 T) region, and high Hall mobility, e.g., 1320 cm2 V-1 s-1 at 30 K and 350 cm2 V-1 s-1 at 300 K, implying that Cr_Te crystals are ferromagnetic elemental semiconductors. When B // c // I, the maximum negative MR is -27% at T = 20 K and B = 8 T. In the low temperature semiconducting region, Cr_Te crystals show strong discrete scale invariance dominated logarithmic quantum oscillations when the direction of the magnetic field B is parallel to the [100] crystallographic direction and show Landau quantization dominated Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations for B // [210] direction, which suggests the broken rotation symmetry of the Fermi pockets in the Cr_Te crystals. The findings of coexistence of multiple quantum oscillations and ferromagnetism in such an elemental quantum material may inspire more study of narrow bandgap semiconductors with ferromagnetism and quantum phenomena., 25 pages, 25 figures

SrIrO3 (SIO) thin films were epitaxially grown on (001)-oriented 0.7Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.3PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) single-crystal substrates. Upon applying electric fields to the piezoelectric PMN-PT along the thickness direction, the electronic transport properties of SIO films can be in situ tuned and modulated by non-180° ferroelectric domain rotation-induced strain, piezoelectric strain, and rhombohedral-to-tetragonal structural phase transition-induced strain in the PMN-PT layer, respectively. Moreover, the weak negative magnetoresistance (MR) of the 60-nm SIO films could be modified by applying an electric field to the PMN-PT layer. At T = 2 K, upon the application of E = 4 kV/cm to the PMN-PT, MR at H = 9 T is reduced by 14.2% as compared to that under zero electric field, indicating in-plane compressive strain-induced suppression of the influence of quantum corrections to the conductivity in the SIO film. These results demonstrate that the electric-field controllable lattice strain is a simple approach to get insight into the strain-property relationships of 5 d iridate thin films.

In this study, the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) film on a glass substrate was etched by using a femtosecond pulsed laser with a wavelength of 1030 nm, a repetition rate of 1 MHz and a pulse duration of 262 fs. The effect of laser fluence and scanning speed on the quality of the groove etched on the FTO film surface was systematically studied, trying to improve the groove quality. The results indicated that in order to obtain high quality grooves for use on touch screens, a balance needed to be achieved between laser fluence and scanning speed. Excessive laser fluence caused cracks at the bottom of the groove with shoulder protrusions formed at the edge of the groove, and the scanning speed had a considerable influence on the groove width at the same time. After discussing and comparing the results of five groups of experiments, the best groove quality was determined at the scanning speed of 3000 mm/s and the laser fluence of 1.1 J/cm2. In this case, the edge of the groove was sharp without obvious cracks and shoulder-like protrusions, and the groove width was 7.92 μm, which made it possible to process small etched areas for touch screen. Furthermore, the optimal parameters were confirmed to be available for processing a pattern on the touch screen sensor layer with a line spacing of 5 μm.

Selective laser ablation (SLA) of silver (Ag) films, which were deposited on glass substrates by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering, was performed by using a 532 nm nanosecond (ns) pulsed laser. Two kinds of simple and mask-free SLA strategies featured by two new scanning paths (i.e. frame-typed serial scanning, FTSS, and frame-line combined scanning, FLCS) were proposed to improve the edge quality and optical transmittances of the SLA patterns. The effects of laser scanning speed (v), hatch distance (HD) and scanning path on edge quality of the laser-ablated grooves and SLA patterns were systematically studied. The results indicated that compared with the conventional line-typed cyclic scanning (LTCS) path, which resulted in unsmooth edge with semicircle-shaped boundaries and some Ag residues, the proposed scanning paths of FTSS and FLCS produced clean and smooth edges without obvious heat-affected zone and Ag residues under the condition of using a v value of 15 mm/s and an HD value of 90 μm. As a result, the as-obtained SLA patterns exhibited relatively high optical transmittances. The simple methods of adopting the FTSS or FLCS path for improving the edge quality during SLA and thus the optical transmittance of SLA patterns may have great potential application in various fields.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are of worldwide environmental concern because of their properties of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and teratogenicity. In the work, a smart combination of gel permeation chromatography-diode array detector and second-order calibration based on alternating trilinear decomposition (ATLD-GPC-DAD) is proposed for simultaneous targeted identification and quantification of 15 PAHs in atmospheric pollution sources such as flue-dust and greasy-dirt samples. No need of tedious sample pretreatment and specific PAHs separation column, severely overlapped chromatograph peaks are successfully resolved by the ATLD-GPC-DAD method even with only 3 s of difference in retention times. Accurate quantitative results of 15 PAHs are achieved by using the developed method even in the presence of unexpected interferents. The limits of detection range from 0.94 ng mL−1 to 48.86 ng mL−1, and the average recoveries are in the range of (81.2 ± 1.0)% to (108.9 ± 11.6)% for flue-dust samples and (89.7 ± 3.4)% to (107.5 ± 8.0)% for greasy-dirt samples. The sensitivity and selectivity of analytes is significantly improved with the aid of “mathematical separation” of the method. These results indicate that it opens a promising analytical strategy for control of PAHs emissions and management of urban air quality.

This study conducted a meta-analysis to compare the effectiveness and safety of the negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) with the moist wound care (MWC) in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs).The PubMed, EMBASE, and CENTRAL were searched by 2 of the authors, to identify randomized controlled trials comparing the clinical outcomes of patients treated with NPWT versus MWC for DFUs. Meta-analyses were performed for several outcomes, including wound healing results, amputation or resection incidence, and risk of adverse events, utilizing the "meta" package of R language version 4.0.3.A total of 10 trials (619 patients in NPWT group and 625 in MWC group) and 8 trials were included for the qualitative and quantitative syntheses, respectively. As a result, significantly lower risk of non-closure of the wound (risk ratio [RR] = 0.74, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.63-0.87; P = .001), lower average wound area (standard mean difference = -0.80, 95% CI: -1.54 to -0.06; P = .034), more wound area decrease (standard mean difference = 0.81, 95% CI: 0.36-1.26; P = .001), increased appearance rate of granulation tissue (RR = 1.61, 95% CI: 1.07-2.41; P-0.021), and lower risk of amputation or resection (RR = 0.70, 95% CI: 0.50-0.99; P = .045), were demonstrated for the NPWT group when compared to MWC group. However, no statistically significant difference was found for the disappearance rate of wound discharge at 8 weeks, the rate of blood culture positivity, VAS-pain score, and the overall frequency of adverse events between the 2 treatment groups (P = .05).NPWT could accelerate process of the wound healing, and decrease the risk of post-treatment amputation or resection, without any additional frequency of adverse events, when compared with MWC, in patients with DFUs.

Background and aim Human milk has potential protective effects against bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). However, studies on the association between the dose of human milk and BPD in China are limited. This study aimed to evaluate the dose-dependent effects of human milk on BPD and other neonatal morbidities in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. Methods This retrospective cohort study of preterm infants was conducted on preterm infants of gestational age ≤ 34 weeks and birth weight Results Of 964 included infants, 279 (28.9%) received exclusive preterm formula, 128 (13.3%) received 1–24 ml/(kg · day), 139 (14.4%) received 25–49 ml/(kg · day), and 418 (43.4%) received ≥50 ml/(kg · day) human milk for the first 4 weeks of life. Compared with infants receiving exclusive formula, those receiving the highest volume of human milk daily [≥50 mL/(kg · day)] had lower incidences of BPD [27.5% in ≥50 mL/(kg · day) vs 40.1% in 0 mL/(kg · day) human milk, P = 0.001)], moderate and severe BPD [8.9% in ≥50 mL/(kg · day) vs 16.1% in 0 mL/(kg · day), P = 0.004], necrotizing enterocolitis [NEC; 3.8% in ≥50 mL/(kg · day) vs 10.8% in 0 mL/(kg · day), P = 0.001], late-onset sepsis [LOS; 9.3% in ≥50 mL/(kg · day) vs 19.7% in 0 mL/(kg · day), P P Conclusions A daily threshold amount of ≥50 ml/(kg · day) human milk in the first 4 weeks of life was associated with lower incidence of BPD as well as NEC, LOS, and EUGR in VLBW infants. SLC9A1 plays an important role in the growth, differentiation and glycolysis of tumor cells. The present study aimed to elucidate the correlation between SLC9A1 and tumor immune infiltration.Expression level of SLC9A1 gene in tumors was identified in GEPIA. The correlation between SLC9A1 and survival in various types of cancers was analyzed by the PrognoScan. SLC9A1 immune infiltration levels and clinical correlation analysis was generated via TIMER and TIMER2.0. KEGG enrichment analysis of SLC9A1 expression was evaluated via STRING.We found that, in cancers such as liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), the expression of SLC9A1 was significantly higher in tumor tissues compared with normal tissues, and was significantly associated with poor prognosis. Further analysis showed that SLC9A1 expression in LIHC was significantly positively correlated with immune cell infiltration, and the correlation was the highest for LIHC among 40 cancers. The expression of SLC9A1 is significantly correlated with the immune marker set of most immune cells in LIHC. Furthermore, we found that the expression level of TGF-β (TGFB1) in Tregs showed the highest correlation with the expression of SLC9A1 in LIHC.The increased expression of SLC9A1 is positively correlated with the prognosis of cancer and the level of immune infiltration. Therefore, SLC9A1 is an important prognostic factor for immunotherapy against hepatocellular carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the incidence of severe neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and the management on the treatment and follow-up of this disease in Jiangsu Province, China. METHODS: The neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia who were admitted to 13 hospitals in Jiangsu Province from January to December, 2018, were enrolled as subjects. A retrospective analysis was performed on their mediacal data and follow-up data. RESULTS: In 2018, 740 neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia were reported from the 13 hospitals in Jiangsu Province, accounting for 2.70% (740/27 386) of the total number of neonates admitted to the department of neonatology. Among these neonates, 620 (83.8%) had severe hyperbilirubinemia, 106 (14.3%) had extremely severe hyperbilirubinemia, and 14 (1.9%) had hazardous hyperbilirubinemia. Four neonates (0.5%) were diagnosed with acute bilirubin encephalopathy. A total of 484 neonates (65.4%) were readmitted due to severe hyperbilirubinemia after discharge from the delivery institution, with a median age of 7 days, among whom 214 (44.2%) were followed up for jaundice at the outpatient service before readmission, with a median age of 6 days at the first time of outpatient examination. During hospitalization, 211 neonates (28.5%) underwent cranial MRI examinations, among whom 85 (40.3%) had high T1WI signal in the bilateral basal ganglia and the globus pallidus; 238 neonates (32.2%) underwent brainstem auditory evoked potential examinations, among whom 14 (5.9%) passed only at one side and 7 (2.9%) failed at both sides. The 17 neonates with acute bilirubin encephalopathy or hazardous hyperbilirubinemia were followed up. Except one neonate was lost to follow-up, and there were no abnormal neurological symptoms in the other neonates. CONCLUSIONS: Neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia account for a relatively high proportion of the total number of neonates in the department of neonatology. Jaundice monitoring and management after discharge from delivery institutions need to be strengthened. For neonates with severe hyperbilirubinemia, relevant examinations should be carried out more comprehensively during hospitalization and these neonates should be followed up comprehensively and systematically after discharge.

Hawthorn is a well-known functional food; at present, increasing attention has been given to hawthorn leaf due to its numerous functional and nutritional properties. In this study, the antithrombotic properties of hawthorn leaves were evaluated using the activity-guided isolation process and high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HPLC-QTOF-MS). A crude extract prepared in 75% ethanol was fractionated using macroporous resin D101 and polyamide chromatography to obtain three active fractions (Fr.C, Fr.C-1 and Fr.C-2). Thereafter, the inhibitory activities of these fractions were examined by platelet aggregation and antithrombus assays using a zebrafish model. Using the HPLC-QTOF-MS technique, we identified 25 compounds in the active fraction (Fr.C). The structures of these compounds were identified by comparing the retention time (tR) and mass spectral data from the previous reports and 19 reference compounds. Based on the analysis, 21 peaks were detected in the mass spectrum of Fr.C-1 and 8 peaks were detected in Fr.C-2, we found that 11 compounds in Fr.C-1 exhibited potent inhibitory effects on platelet aggregation, including nine monoterpenoids, one diterpenoid and one flavanone. Accordingly, monoterpenoids are suggested as the main anti-platelet aggregation constituents from hawthorn leaves. Particularly, compounds 10 and 24 inhibited ADP-induced platelet aggregation and delayed FeCl3-induced thrombus in zebrafish. Furthermore, interactions between compounds 10 and 24 with two ADP receptors P2Y1 and P2Y12, serving as the target for key regulators of antiplatelet aggregative activity, were investigated via molecular modeling. In addition, five flavones were obtained from the active fraction (Fr.C-2). These results indicated that monoterpenoid glycosides and some flavones were responsible for the antithrombotic activity of hawthorn leaves. Moreover, this study shows that the activity-guided isolation is a fast, efficient and systematic separation method for the identification of active compounds in natural products.
