The objective of this study is to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis within the domain of Smart Product-Service Systems (Smart PSS). Leveraging the extant scholarly work, this paper delineates the prevailing research landscape and trajectories, while scrutinizing the focal points and prospective trends in this discipline. A total of 925 relevant articles were retrieved and collected from the Web of Science core database. VOSviewer and CiteSpace knowledge mapping tools were utilized to analyze the annual publication volume, institutional collaboration, topic burst, keyword co-occurrence, author collaboration, author co-citation, document co-citation, and references in the field of Smart Product-Service Systems. It is evident from this research that there is a lack of coordination between theoretical and practical development in the current study of Smart PSS sustainability, and the research field has certain limitations. Additionally, the research focus in this field has shifted from product-centered to user-centered, resulting in a sustainable development trend aimed at value co-creation. In the future, it is necessary to achieve sustainable development of Smart PSS through three aspects: theoretical innovation, methodological innovation, and development path. This systematic review will deepen the understanding of Smart PSS research and provide directional guidance for future studies. It also emphasizes the necessity of exploring the Smart PSS field more deeply to achieve sustainable development in this area.

The Yangtze River is the mother river of China. To promote the aquatic ecosystem protection of the great river, the Project of Yangtze Fisheries Resources and Environment Investigation (2017–2021) supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, P. R. China carried out by 24 institutes and universities that located in the Yangtze River basin surveys the status of (1) fish species composition and spatial distribution, (2) current fish abundance, (3) endangered fishes, (4) Yangtze finless porpoise, (5) aquatic eco-environments, (6) water-level fluctuation areas, (7) capture fisheries and recreational fisheries of the Yangtze River mainstream and 10 of its main tributaries, including Yalong River, Heng River, Min River (including Dadu River), Chishui River, Tuo River, Jialing River, Wu River, Han River, Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake. The results showed that there were 443 fish species (belonging to 163 genus, 37 families, and 18 orders) before 2017, but only 323 fish species (including 15 new recorded exotic species) were recorded in the project of 2017–2021. Among them, Cyprinus carpio, Carassius auratus, Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco, Coilia brachygnathus, Silurus asotus, Saurogobio dabryi, Ctenopharyngodon idellus, Pelteobagrus nitidus, Hemiculter leucisculus, Siniperca chuatsi, Coreius heterodon, Culter alburnus, Parabramis pekinensis, and Aristichthys nobilis were the dominant species across the whole Yangtze River system. It is estimated that there were 886 million individuals weighing 124.8 million kg, merely equivalent to 27.3% of the resources in 1950s, 30.9% of the resources in 1960s, or 58.7% of the resources in 1980s. In the new list of protected fishes that recorded in the Yangtze River system, only 15 of 29 were collected in this project of 2017–2021. Psephurus gladius has been affirmed to be Extinct by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The wild individuals of Tenualosa reevesii and Luciobrama macrocephalus have disappeared for many years and maybe have been extinct already. Acipenser dabryanus has been affirmed to be Extinct in the Wild by IUCN. The natural propagations of A. sinensis, Myxocyprinus asiaticus and Trachidermus fasciatus have been interrupted for many years. The populations of Yangtze finless porpoise in the Yangtze River mainstream, Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake have steadily rising sizes and expanding distributions in 2017–2021. Parts of them migrate from one region to another with the seasons, which would result in the fluctuation of Yangtze finless porpoise population within some regions. The conventional indicators of water quality in the Yangtze River system were good and conformed to the water quality criteria of fishery in 2017–2021. In the last 40 years, the maximum surface water area in the Yangtze River basin extended to approximately 63,360 km2, the minimum surface water area covered approximately 26,396 km2, and the seasonal water-level fluctuation areas occupied approximately 36,964 km2. Compared with 1984–2000 period, the 2001–2020 period witnessed an overall decreasing trend in the frequency of surface water occurrence within about 25,869 km2 of aquatic areas. From 1984 to 2000 period to 2001–2020 period, permanent surface water has decreased by nearly 8,750 km2. In 2017, the fishermen were mainly 40–60 years old and their educational levels were mainly lower than junior high school. In 2017, most anglers were older than 40 and used hand rod and/or sea rod. Their average catch of each time was mainly less than 1 kg. Results suggested that the fishing ban in key waters of the Yangtze River basin is not only an ecological project of aquatic ecosystem conservation, but also a livelihood project for the fisherman to embrace industrial transformation and improve their living conditions. After the implementation of the fishing ban, the fisheries resources would gradually recover, and the Yangtze finless porpoise population size would also see a steady increase. However, the endangered species would remain threatened for a long time. The degraded waterbodies and water-level fluctuation areas would be the key restrictive factors for future aquatic ecosystem recovery in the Yangtze River basin. Since this survey was carried out before the fishing ban, the current results could provide a baseline for future evaluation of the effect of the Yangtze River fishing ban.

With the enhancement of people's awareness of healthy diet, the innovation of food function has become a hot topic. Self-microemulsion system is an anhydrous pre-concentration system which contains a mixture of oil phase, surfactants, co-surfactants, and bioactive substances in a certain proportion. Food bioactive substances can be loaded in self-microemulsion system, which can improve the bioavailability of food bioactive substances. Moreover, it also fully exerts the physiological and pharmacological activities of food bioactive substances. In this paper, the basic properties, components and preparation methods of self-microemulsion are systematically reviewed. Further, the application examples of self-microemulsion system to promote bioactive substances bio-utilization in food field in recent years are summarized, which provides a reference for the application of self-microemulsion system in food field.

ObjectivesThe purpose of this study is to examine the effects of intergenerational support and activities of daily living (ADL) on psychological distress in older adults, and to analyse the effects of the interaction between ADL and intergenerational support on psychological distress in older adults.MethodsA probability sample of 1,065 older adults aged 60 and above was conducted in Xuzhou, China, from 18 June to 26 August 2023. ADL was assessed using the ADL scale combined with the Barthel Index; Intergenerational support was measured using the Intergenerational Support Scale; and psychological distress was measured using the Kessler 10 scale. An ordered multichotomous logistic regression model was constructed to analyse the factors influencing psychological distress in the elderly. The interaction model was constructed by one-way analysis of variance to further analyse the effect of the interaction between financial support, instrumental support and emotional support and ADL on psychological distress in the elderly.ResultsElderly living in rural areas, with an annual household income of less than 30,000 yuan, who engaged in manual labor before retirement, who did not receive financial support and who received instrumental support were more likely to experience psychological distress, and the higher the degree of restriction in ADL, the higher the risk of psychological distress. Abstract Background Non-conventional yeasts and bacteria gain significance in synthetic biology for their unique metabolic capabilities in converting low-cost renewable feedstocks into valuable products. Improving metabolic pathways and increasing bioproduct yields remain dependent on the strategically use of various promoters in these microbes. The development of broad-spectrum promoter libraries with varying strengths for different hosts is attractive for biosynthetic engineers. Results In this study, five Yarrowia lipolytica constitutive promoters (yl.hp4d, yl.FBA1in, yl.TEF1, yl.TDH1, yl.EXP1) and five Kluyveromyces marxianus constitutive promoters (km.PDC1, km.FBA1, km.TEF1, km.TDH3, km.ENO1) were selected to construct promoter-reporter vectors, utilizing α-amylase and red fluorescent protein (RFP) as reporter genes. The promoters' strengths were systematically characterized across Y. lipolytica, K. marxianus, Pichia pastoris, Escherichia coli, and Corynebacterium glutamicum. We discovered that five K. marxianus promoters can all express genes in Y. lipolytica and that five Y. lipolytica promoters can all express genes in K. marxianus with variable expression strengths. Significantly, the yl.TEF1 and km.TEF1 yeast promoters exhibited their adaptability in P. pastoris, E. coli, and C. glutamicum. In yeast P. pastoris, the yl.TEF1 promoter exhibited substantial expression of both amylase and RFP. In bacteria E. coli and C. glutamicum, the eukaryotic km.TEF1 promoter demonstrated robust expression of RFP. Significantly, in E. coli, The RFP expression strength of the km.TEF1 promoter reached ∼20% of the T7 promoter. Conclusion Non-conventional yeast promoters with diverse and cross-domain applicability have great potential for developing innovative and dynamic regulated systems that can effectively manage carbon flux and enhance target bioproduct synthesis across diverse microbial hosts. Abstract The context of education has changed due to revolutionary developments in the information communication technology (ICT) industry in the post-COVID era. Innovative learning methods were introduced in the education sector to promote quality education. The students find it more convenient to use ICT tools to integrate their knowledge-seeking. China has recently paid more attention to developing and adopting electronic infrastructure. The study assesses the effect of technology self-efficacy (TSE) on ICT acceptance and implementation in China’s education sector. It also analyzed the role of perceived trust, perceived security, and electronic word of mouth (eWOM) in integrating digital information sharing and interaction tools. Data is collected from 382 business students at Chinese universities. The results revealed that perceived trust mediates the relationship between TSE and the actual use of ICT tools, intention to use ICT tools for information, and intention to use ICT tools for interaction. Further, perceived security and eWOM significantly moderate the relationship between TSE and perceived trust. The findings indicate that it is essential to offer assistance and instruction to students in the educational sector so they can use ICT technology more frequently. It is also crucial for organizations to establish a supportive culture and provide the necessary technological resources to facilitate the use of ICT.

Abstract As technology continues to advance, the integration of generative artificial intelligence tools in various sectors, including education, has gained momentum. ChatGPT, an extensively recognized language model created by OpenAI, has gained significant importance, particularly in education. This study investigates the awareness, acceptance, and adoption of ChatGPT, a state-of-the-art language model developed by OpenAI, in higher education institutions across China. This study applies the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method for examining data collected from 320 Chinese university students. The study’s conceptual framework integrates key determinants from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and extends it by incorporating perceived intelligence as a critical factor in the adoption process. The study findings reveal that ChatGPT awareness significantly influences the intention to adopt ChatGPT. Perceived ease of use, usefulness, and intelligence significantly mediate the association between ChatGPT awareness and adoption intention of ChatGPT. Additionally, perceived trust significantly moderates the relationship between ChatGPT awareness and perceived ease of use, usefulness, and intelligence. Moving forward, in order to maintain students’ critical thinking skills and inventiveness in their assessment writing, assessments must promote the safe use of ChatGPT. Therefore, educators will be crucial in ensuring that artificial intelligence tools are used in assessments ethically and suitably by providing clear guidelines and instructions.

In this study, a potassium ferrate (K2FeO4)-modified biochar (Fe–BC) was prepared and characterized. Afterwards, Fe–BC was applied to activated periodate (PI) to degrade tetracycline (TC), an antibiotic widely used in animal farming. The degradation effects of different systems on TC were compared and the influencing factors were investigated. In addition, several reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by the Fe–BC/PI system were identified, and TC degradation pathways were analyzed. Moreover, the reuse performance of Fe–BC was evaluated. The results exhibited that the Fe–BC/PI system could remove almost 100% of TC under optimal conditions of [BC] = 1.09 g/L, initial [PI] = 3.29 g/L, and initial [TC] = 20.3 mg/L. Cl−, HCO3−, NO3−, and humic acid inhibited TC degradation to varying degrees in the Fe–BC/PI system due to their quenching effects on ROS. TC was degraded into intermediates and even water and carbon dioxide by the synergistic effect of ROS generated and Fe on the BC surface. Fe–BC was reused four times, and the removal rate of TC was still maintained above 80%, indicating the stable nature of Fe–BC. HIGHLIGHTS Fe–BC with excellent morphology and composition was successfully prepared.; Fe–BC could effectively activate periodate in degrading tetracycline (TC).; The response surface methodology was utilized to determine the optimum conditions.; The reactive oxygen species generated were responsible for TC degradation.;

Due to organizations’ unsatisfactory and ineffective environmental performance, scholars focused on employee behavioral improvements rather than relying primarily on technological advancements. This study intended the role of strategic HR practices toward talent retention through job satisfaction and employee work engagement in Pakistan’s education sectors. Additionally, this study examined the moderating impact of psychological empowerment on job satisfaction and work engagement toward talent retention and how they affect universities’ environmental performance. Past empirical research projects and related theories have helped in the creation of the conceptual model. The relevant associations were investigated in this study using a sample of 332 employees from the education sector of Pakistan. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method is used to evaluate these elements in the current research investigation. The analysis showed that strategic HR practices positively influence talent retention in the education sector. Work engagement and job satisfaction positively mediate the relationship between strategic HR practices and talent retention. Furthermore, psychological empowerment positively moderates the relationship between job satisfaction and work engagement toward talent retention. Executives and policy-makers of education sectors get benefit from strategic HR practices in an environmentally friendly setting by learning how to foster a culture to improve sustainability and talent retention that sets organizational environmental values.

Some bioactive substances are insoluble in water and have low bioavailability, which limits their application. In recent years, how to effectively deliver bioactive substances has attracted wide attention. However, the commonly used food-grade encapsulation carriers, lipids, polysaccharides and proteins, often have limitations when used alone, which limits their effectiveness in delivery systems. Coupling protein with lipid or polysaccharide is an emerging technology for the manufacture of new delivery systems. Compared with a single carrier, these multivariate conjugates have better synergistic effects in vivo, which improves stability and encapsulation efficiency of delivery systems, and can maximize the functional properties and biological activities of products. This paper mainly reviews the importance and limitations of lipids, polysaccharides and proteins as delivery systems, and horizontally compares the advantages and disadvantages between single matrix and multi-composite carrier matrix. The coupling of protein-lipid/polysaccharide binary matrix is taken as the main research object, and the coupling mechanism, coupling method and its advantages in nutrition delivery are discussed. The future research direction is also prospected.

Abstract Uncovering the risk factors of pulmonary hypertension and its mechanisms is crucial for the prevention and treatment of the disease. In the current study, we showed that experimental periodontitis, which was established by ligation of molars followed by orally smearing subgingival plaques from patients with periodontitis, exacerbated hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension in mice. Mechanistically, periodontitis dysregulated the pulmonary microbiota by promoting ectopic colonization and enrichment of oral bacteria in the lungs, contributing to pulmonary infiltration of interferon gamma positive (IFNγ+) T cells and aggravating the progression of pulmonary hypertension. In addition, we identified Prevotella zoogleoformans as the critical periodontitis-associated bacterium driving the exacerbation of pulmonary hypertension by periodontitis, and the exacerbation was potently ameliorated by both cervical lymph node excision and IFNγ neutralizing antibodies. Our study suggests a proof of concept that the combined prevention and treatment of periodontitis and pulmonary hypertension are necessary.

In underground engineering with complex conditions, the bolt (cable) anchorage support system is in an environment where static and dynamic stresses coexist, under the action of geological conditions such as high stresses and strong disturbances and construction conditions such as the application of high prestress. It is essential to study the support components performance under dynamic-static coupling conditions. Based on this, a multi-functional anchorage support dynamic-static coupling performance test system (MAC system) is developed, which can achieve 7 types of testing functions, including single component performance, anchored net performance, anchored rock performance and so on. The bolt and cable mechanical tests are conducted by MAC system under different prestress levels. The results showed that compared to the non-prestress condition, the impact resistance performance of prestressed bolts (cables) is significantly reduced. In the prestress range of 50–160 kN, the maximum reduction rate of impact energy resisted by different types of bolts is 53.9%–61.5% compared to non-prestress condition. In the prestress range of 150–300 kN, the impact energy resisted by high-strength cable is reduced by 76.8%–84.6% compared to non-prestress condition. The MAC system achieves dynamic-static coupling performance test, which provide an effective means for the design of anchorage support system.

This study systematically evaluated the wear resistance and mechanical performance of 3D-printed thermoplastic rubber (TPR) and flexible stereolithography (SLA) resin materials for footwear outsoles. Abrasion tests were conducted on 26 samples (2 materials × 13 geometries) to analyze the weight loss, variations in the friction coefficient, temperature change, and deformation behavior. Finite element method (FEM) simulations incorporating the Ogden hyperelastic model were employed to investigate the stress distribution and wear patterns. The results revealed that TPR exhibits superior abrasion resistance and stable wear curves, making it suitable for high-load applications. On average, the TPR samples showed 27.3% lower weight loss compared to the SLA resin samples. The SLA resin samples exhibited a 65% higher mean coefficient of friction (COF) compared to the TPR samples. Furthermore, the SLA resin samples demonstrated a 94% higher temperature change during the sliding tests, reflecting greater friction-induced heating. The FEM simulations further validated TPR’s performance in high-stress regions and SLA resin’s deformation characteristics. This study’s findings not only highlight the performance differences between these two 3D-printed materials but also provide theoretical guidance for material selection based on wear behavior, contributing to the optimization of outsole design and its practical applications.

Solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and other solar radio burst phenomena release substantial amounts of solar radiation energy, resulting in adverse space weather conditions and posing significant hazards in space. Spectrum analysis conducted manually or with traditional image processing algorithms is limited by low efficiency and accuracy. This paper investigates solar radio burst detection methods and their applications. Five solar radio burst detection methods—Continuous-3 σ , Sum Flux-3 σ , Continuous Slope, Sum Flux Slope, and Sum Flux Continuous-3 σ —are developed and validated using data from the Japanese NoRP and the Australian Learmonth Solar Radio Observatory. The results show that all five methods can detect solar radio bursts to some degree. Considering the combined metrics of success rate, false detection rate, and real-time performance, the Sum Flux Continuous-3 σ method is deemed the optimal method among the five. Additionally, the Sum Flux Slope method, which is not reliant on historical data, demonstrates superior universality. Finally, we implement the Sum Flux Slope method on a 39.5–40 GHz two-element interferometer, achieving real-time solar radio burst detection in the upper computer software. The method also includes functionalities for email alerts, burst information recording, and control parameter adjustment, confirming its effectiveness and practicality. Test results demonstrate the method’s effectiveness in real-time solar radio burst detection.

In order to study the damage and failure of asphalt mixture under uniaxial loading under freeze-thaw cycle, a damage constitutive model is constructed based on the Particle Flow Code (PFC2D). Through four sets of uniaxial compression laboratory tests with different freeze-thaw cycles, numerical simulation with the help of PFC2D, analysis of macroscopic failure of asphalt mixture and evolution law of internal microcracks from mesoscopic perspective, the equation of the relationship between the damage variable and the strain is established. The results of the study showed that: (1) The numerical simulations are in good agreement with the experimental results. (2) The increase of freeze-thaw cycles will increase the freeze-thaw damage variable and peak strain of asphalt mixture and reduce the compressive strength of asphalt mixture. (3) The established piecewise function expression can fit the relationship between the damage variable and the strain well. This study provides a convenient method for the mesoscopic study of asphalt mixture loading test under freeze-thaw cycle.

Abstract Water evaporation–induced electricity generators (WEGs) are regarded as one of the most promising solutions for addressing the increasingly severe environmental pollution and energy crisis. Owing to the potential carbon emission in the preparation process of WEGs, whether WEG represents a clean electricity generation technology is open to question. Here, a brand‐new strategy is proposed for manufacturing negative carbon emission WEG (CWEG). In this strategy, the microalgae film is used as the electricity generation interface of WEG, which achieves a stable open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.25 V and a short‐circuit current (Isc) of 3.3 µA. Since microalgae can capture carbon dioxide during its growing process, CWEG holds great promise to generate electricity without carbon emissions in the full life cycle compared with other WEGs. To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first work using microalgae films to fabricate WEG. Therefore, it is believed that this work not only provides a new direction for designing high‐efficiency and eco‐friendly WEG but also offers an innovative approach to the resource utilization of microalgae.

BackgroundTo reduce the burden of patients’ medical care, the Xuzhou Municipal Government has initiated an exploratory study on the supply model and categorized management of nationally negotiated drugs. This study aims to understand the extent to which Xuzhou’s 2021 reform of the National Drug Price Negotiation (NDPN) policy has had a positive impact on the healthcare costs of individuals with different types of health insurance.MethodsThe Interrupted Time Series Analysis method was adopted, and the changes in average medical expenses per patient, average medical insurance payment cost per patient and actual reimbursement ratio were investigated by using the data of single-drug payments in Xuzhou from October 2020 to October 2022.ResultsFollowing the implementation of the policy, there was a significant decrease in the average medical expenses per patient of national drug negotiation in Xuzhou, with a reduction of 62.42 yuan per month (p

Abstract Information and communication technology (ICT) has become increasingly important worldwide in education. This study aims to recognize the factors that influence the intention to use information and communication technology (ITUICT) and its acceptance in the education sector in China. A literature review was conducted to ascertain the potential factors such as perceived awareness, information acquisition, trustworthiness, social influence, and regulatory support that could affect the acceptance and ITUICT. For results, a survey was conducted on a sample of 381 university employees in China using a convenience sampling approach. The collected data were analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that individual factors such as perceived awareness, information acquisition, trustworthiness, social influence, and regulatory support significantly impact the ITUICT. Additionally, trustworthiness positively moderates the relationship among perceived awareness, information acquisition, social influence, regulatory support, and ITUICT. Policymakers and educators can use the findings of this study to enhance the adoption of ICT in China’s education sector. The results of this study suggest that it is important to provide educational sector employees with training and support to increase their use of ICT technology. Furthermore, this paper offers theoretical progression to create a supportive organizational culture and provide the educational sector with the necessary technological resources to facilitate the use of ICT.

Abstract Cryptocurrencies—i.e., digital or virtual currencies secured by cryptography based on blockchain technology, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum—have brought transformative changes to the global economic landscape. These innovative transaction methods have rapidly made their mark in the financial sector, reshaping the dynamics of the global economy. However, there remains a notable hesitation in its widespread acceptance and adoption, largely due to misconceptions and lack of proper guidance about its use. Such gaps in understanding create an opportunity to address these concerns. Using the technology acceptance model (TAM), this study develops a parsimonious model to explain the awareness, acceptance, and adoption of cryptocurrency. The model was assessed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with a sample of 332 participants aged 18 to 40 years. The findings suggest that cryptocurrency awareness plays a direct, positive, and significant role in shaping cryptocurrency adoption and that this positive relationship is mediated by factors that exemplify cryptocurrency acceptance, namely the ease of use and usefulness of cryptocurrency. The results also reveal that trust is a significant factor that strengthens these direct and mediating relationships. These insights emphasize the necessity of fostering an informed understanding of cryptocurrencies to accelerate their broader adoption in the financial ecosystem. By addressing the misconceptions and reinforcing factors like ease of use, usefulness, and trust, policymakers and financial institutions can better position themselves to integrate and promote cryptocurrency in mainstream financial systems.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. DNA methylation can regulate gene expression. Understanding the potential molecular mechanism of COPD is of great importance. The aim of this study was to find differentially methylated/expressed genes in COPD. DNA methylation and gene expression profiles in COPD were downloaded from the dataset, followed by functional analysis of differentially-methylated/expressed genes. The potential diagnostic value of these differentially-methylated/expressed genes was determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Expression validation of differentially-methylated/expressed genes was performed by in vitro experiment and extra online datasets. Totally, 81 hypermethylated-low expression genes and 121 hypomethylated-high expression genes were found in COPD. Among which, 9 core hypermethylated-low expression genes (CD247, CCR7, CD5, IKZF1, SLAMF1, IL2RB, CD3E, CD7 and IL7R) and 8 core hypomethylated-high expression genes (TREM1, AQP9, CD300LF, CLEC12A, NOD2, IRAK3, NLRP3 and LYZ) were identified in the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. Moreover, these genes had a potential diagnostic utility for COPD. Some signaling pathways were identified in COPD, including T cell receptor signaling pathway, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, hematopoietic cell lineage, HTLV-I infection, endocytosis and Jak-STAT signaling pathway. In conclusion, differentially-methylated/expressed genes and involved signaling pathways are likely to be associated with the process of COPD.

Abstract Gamification entails integrating game design elements, including rewards, points, competition, and interactive challenges, into non-game contexts to engage and motivate individuals. In the context of green consumption, gamification can encourage individuals to acquire more sustainable consumption behaviors. The proposed study aims to examine the influence of gamification on green consumption behavior among Chinese university students. However, university students are considered an important target group for such interventions due to their technological savvy and high interest in environmental issues. A self-determination theory (SDT) was used to measure the motivating factors of gamification for adopting green consumption behavior—a convenience sampling technique in which survey-based research designs were used to collect the data. A survey was conducted on a sample of 332 university students in China, using a questionnaire with structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the hypotheses and assess the proposed relationships between the variables. The finding of this study reveals that gamification has a significant negative relation with green consumption behavior. Further, technological awareness, hedonic motivation, and perceived enjoyment significantly mediate the relationship between gamification and green consumption behavior. Additionally, virtual CSR significantly moderates the relationship between gamification and technological awareness, hedonic motivation, and perceived enjoyment. The findings of this study could have implications for the development of more effective interventions for policy makers and industrialists aimed at promoting sustainable consumption behaviors in China.

Abstract Achievement of national climate targets and the corresponding costs would entirely depend on regional actions within the country. However, because of substantial inequalities and heterogeneities among regions, especially in developing economies, aggressive or uniform actions may exacerbate inequity and induce huge economic losses, which in turn challenges the national climate pledges. Hence, this study extends prior research by proposing economically optimal strategies that can achieve national climate targets and ensure the greatest local and national benefits as well as regional equality. Focusing on the biggest developing country China, we find this strategy can avoid up to 1.54% of cumulative GDP losses for approaching carbon neutrality, and more than 90% of regions would obtain economic gains compared either with existing independently launched targets or with the uniform strategy that all regions achieve peak carbon emissions before 2030. We also provide optimal carbon mitigation pathways to regional peak carbon, carbon intensity and energy consumption.

Abstract 5G technology continues to evolve, and its potential to revolutionize various aspects of society is becoming increasingly evident. However, the successful adoption and utilization of 5G technology depends on various factors, particularly among consumers expected to be early adopters and critical drivers of technological advancements. This study investigates the effect of social influence, environmental awareness, and safety affordance on Chinese university students' actual use of 5G (AU5G) technologies. It also analyzed the mediating role of trustworthiness and intention to use 5G (ITU5G) between them and the moderating role of facilitation conditions between trustworthiness and ITU5G. Data was collected from university students (n = 364) in Beijing and was examined employing the structural equation modelling (SEM) approach. The outcomes confirm that trustworthiness and ITU5G significantly mediate the relationship between social influence, environmental awareness, and safety affordance on AU5G technologies among Chinese students. Further, the supportive facilitation conditions strengthen the relationship between trustworthiness and ITU5G. These findings are backed by UTAUT2 models that support the technology acceptance and adoption among the users. The study outcomes can help policymakers design strategies to address potential barriers and encourage greater uptake of 5G services among university students.

Abstract Background Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a common chronic neurological disorder with a high risk of disability and no cure. Periodontitis is an infectious bacterial disease occurring in periodontal supporting tissues. Studies have shown that periodontitis is closely related to PD. However, direct evidence of the effect of periodontitis on PD is lacking. Here, we demonstrated that ligature-induced periodontitis with application of subgingival plaque (LIP-SP) exacerbated motor dysfunction, microglial activation, and dopaminergic neuron loss in 1-Methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced PD mice. Results The 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed that LIP-SP induced oral and gut dysbiosis. Particularly, Veillonella parvula (V. parvula) and Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) from oral ligatures were increased in the fecal samples of MPTP + LIP-SP treated mice. We further demonstrated that V. parvula and S. mutans played crucial roles in LIP-SP mediated exacerbation of motor dysfunction and neurodegeneration in PD mice. V. parvula and S. mutans caused microglial activation in the brain, as well as T helper 1 (Th1) cells infiltration in the brain, cervical lymph nodes, ileum and colon in PD mice. Moreover, we observed a protective effect of IFNγ neutralization on dopaminergic neurons in V. parvula- and S. mutans-treated PD mice. Conclusions Our study demonstrates that oral pathogens V. parvula and S. mutans necessitate the existence of periodontitis to exacerbate motor dysfunction and neurodegeneration in MPTP-induced PD mice. The underlying mechanisms include alterations of oral and gut microbiota, along with immune activation in both brain and peripheral regions. Video Abstract

Abstract As worldwide unemployment is an extensive problem with the increasing population every day, job opportunities did not increase with a similar ratio. Unemployment is increasing, affecting developing countries’ economies like Pakistan. This attempt to solve this problem is commonly acknowledged by creating new opportunities and starting new business ventures. Considering this aspect, this study inspects the aspects that create and affect entrepreneurial intention in young entrepreneurs to start entrepreneurial projects. This study explores the effect of self-efficacy, family, institutional, and peer support on entrepreneurial intention. These factors are expected to create entrepreneurial intention in young graduates to start their business ventures. All these factors and the mediating role of knowledge of entrepreneurial skills, ability to take risks, and entrepreneurial innovativeness motivate young entrepreneurs to take startups. For results, a survey method with a questionnaire has been utilized to gather data. The collected data were evaluated through descriptive and inferential statistics. SPSS and SMART-PLS 3.3 were used for the analysis of results. 716 respondents participated in the data collection process. Data have been gathered from the master's students who registered in Pakistan's top business sector universities. The results of this study showed that self-efficacy, peers support, institutional support, and family support positively impact entrepreneurial intention. Additionally, knowledge of entrepreneurial skills, the ability to take risks, and entrepreneurial innovativeness also significantly affect entrepreneurial intention. In this study, all these results have been discussed. This study also discusses various theoretical and practical factors with substantial policy-making significance.

The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and the ubiquity of social media have become transformative agents in contemporary educational ecosystems. The spotlight of this inquiry focuses on the nexus between AI and social media usage in relation to academic performance and mental well-being, and the role of smart learning in facilitating these relationships. Using partial least squares–structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) on a sample of 401 Chinese university students. The study results reveal that both AI and social media have a positive impact on academic performance and mental well-being among university students. Furthermore, smart learning serves as a positive mediating variable, amplifying the beneficial effects of AI and social media on both academic performance and mental well-being. These revelations contribute to the discourse on technology-enhanced education, showing that embracing AI and social media can have a positive impact on student performance and well-being.

Currently, important privacy data of the Internet of Things (IoT) face extremely high risks of leakage. Attackers persistently engage in continuous attacks on terminal devices to obtain private data of crucial importance. Although significant progress has been made in recent years in deep reinforcement learning defense strategies, most defense methods still face problems such as low defense resource allocation efficiency and insufficient defense coordination capabilities. To solve the above problems, this paper constructs a novel adversarial security scenario and proposes a security game model that integrates defense resource allocation and patrol inspection. Regarding the above game model, this paper designs a deep reinforcement learning algorithm named SDSA to calculate its security defense strategy. SDSA calculates the allocation strategy of the best patrolling strategy that is most suitable for the defender by searching the policy on a multi-dimensional discrete action space, and enables multiple defense agents to cooperate efficiently by training a multi-intelligent Dueling Double Deep Q-Network (D3QN) with prioritized experience replay. Finally, the experimental results show that the SDSA-learned security defense strategy can provide a feasible and effective security protection strategy for defenders against attacks compared to the MADDPG and OptGradFP methods.

Wood is renewable and biodegradable natural resource which has been widely used in construction industry and home furnishing; however, it absorbs moisture easily limiting its application. Herein, an ultra-hydrophobic wood was developed with acetylated β-cyclodextrin (Ac-β-CD). Due to the unique hydrophobic cavity structure of Ac-β-CD, a special micro/nanostructure was constructed on the wood cell wall achieving a maximum water contact angle of 150.5°. Also, it was stable at 137°, with a contact angle change rate of 1.16% during 10–100 s. The tensile strength of Ac-β-CD-wood increased by 58.76% due to the hydrogen bond network across the wood, and it also showed good performance in oil absorption capacity. Moreover, Ac-β-CD-wood can withstand more than 100 wipes while retaining its hydrophobic property. Therefore, this study provides a new eco-friendly strategy for producing biodegradable hydrophobic oil-absorbing wood with outstanding tensile strength and dimensional stability.

To investigate changes in the physicochemical properties of nano delivery systems that were fabricated by native biomacromolecules during digestion, curcumin and zein were separately used as the core and shell materials in this study, and curcumin-loaded zein nanoparticles (CZNPs) were prepared by the way of inverse solvent precipitation. Firstly, the physicochemical properties of CZNPs were characterized by various spectroscopy and electron microscopy methods. Then, the digestive properties of CZNPs in an in vitro simulated digestion model were investigated. Results showed that the encapsulation efficiency of Cur (99%±1%) was the largest when the mass ratio of Cur and zein was 1:40. Moreover, the obtained CZNPs were spherical nanoparticles with an average particle size of 118.6±0.7 nm and zeta potential of 19.9±3.79 mV. Slight adhesion between CZNPs was also noticed. During in vitro simulated gastric digestion, with the increase of digestive time, significant aggregation occurred and the average particle size of CZNPs increased to 8000 nm. Meanwhile, part of zein degraded into amino acids and Cur was released slightly. During the subsequent simulated intestinal digestion, the aggregation of CZNPs reduced with time. However, zein kept stable without continue degradation and the release of Cur didn’t change significantly. Therefore, zein nanoparticles may be an effective oral delivery system with possible applications in the development of functional foods and orally administered drugs.

Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICIs) have dramatically revolutionized the therapeutic approaches by which we treat a series of cancers accompanied by immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Herein, we reported an intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma male patient with a history of ankylosing spondylitis developing pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) under ICI combined therapy with pembrolizumab and lenvatinib. The indirect measurement of cardiac ultrasound showed a pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) of 72mmHg after 21 three-week cycles of ICI combined therapy. The patient partially responded to the treatment of glucocorticoid and mycophenolate mofetil. The PAP decreased to 55mmHg 3 months after the ICI combined therapy was discontinued, but increased to 90mmHg after the ICI combined therapy was rechallenged. We treated him with adalimumab -an antitumor necrosis factor-alpha (ani-TNF-α) antibody- combined with glucocorticoid and immunosuppressants under lenvatinib monotherapy. The patient responded again with PAP decreasing to 67mmHg after 2 two-week cycles of adalimumab. Accordingly, we diagnosed him to have irAE-related PAH. Our findings supported the use of glucocorticoid disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) as a treatment option in refractory PAH.

Precast concrete structures are popular in the building industry because of their high efficiency and environmental friendliness. In this paper, the U-type reinforcement ferrule connection technique was applied to study the seismic performance of precast concrete shear walls. Five shear wall finite element models and four shear wall specimens were prepared. Both experiments and finite element analysis were conducted to explore the impact of parameters on the work performance of precast reinforced concrete shear walls, such as the variety of post-cast concrete, the form of horizontal joints, and the buckle length of U-type reinforcements. On this basis, the mechanism of failure as well as the characteristics of hysteresis, ductility, and energy dissipation capacity were analyzed. According to the analytical results, the cast in situ reinforced concrete shear wall is inferior to the precast shear wall with post-cast epoxy resin concrete in terms of seismic performance. In addition, the specimen with a keyway on the horizontal joint interface outperforms the specimen without a keyway. With an increase in the buckle length of the U-type reinforcement, there is a rise in the sectional height and stiffness of the hidden beam at the bottom of the wall, while the horizontal load-bearing capacity of the wall is improved. However, its ductility and energy dissipation capacity are decreased. As revealed by a thorough analysis, the construction scheme most suitable for precast shear wall horizontal joints adopts epoxy resin concrete as the post-cast material, the buckle length of U-type reinforcements is approximately one-third the height of the horizontal joint, and there is a keyway at the interface of the joint.

Ferroptosis is a recently identified form of regulated cell death that plays a crucial role in tumor suppression. In this study, we found that F2 (the gene encoding thrombin) was strongly upregulated in breast cancer (BRCA, TCGA Study Abbreviations) compared with normal samples and that lower F2 levels were associated with poorer prognosis in breast cancer patients. Thrombin induces ferroptosis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells by activation of cytosolic phospholipase A2α (cPLA2α) activity to increase the release of arachidonic acid (AA). TNBC in all breast cancer subtypes exhibited the highest levels of PLA2G4A (the gene encoding cPLA2α) and Acsl4, and inhibition of cPLA2α and its downstream enzyme acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) reversed thrombin toxicity. In a mouse xenograft model of TNBC, thrombin treatment suppressed breast cancer growth which can be inhibited by ferroptosis inhibitor Liproxstatin-1 (Lip-1). Our study underscores the potential of the thrombin-ACSL4 axis as a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of TNBC.

ABSTRACTThe microbiota plays an important role in both hypertension (HTN) and periodontitis (PD), and PD exacerbates the development of HTN by oral and gut microbiota. Previous studies have focused on exploring the importance of the bacteriome in HTN and PD but overlooked the impact of the virome, which is also a member of the microbiota. We collected 180 samples of subgingival plaques, saliva, and feces from a cohort of healthy subjects (nHTNnPD), subjects with HTN (HTNnPD) or PD (PDnHTN), and subjects with both HTN and PD (HTNPD). We performed metagenomic sequencing to assess the roles of the oral and gut viromes in HTN and PD. The HTNnPD, PDnHTN, and HTNPD groups all showed significantly distinct beta diversity from the nHTNnPD group in saliva. We analyzed alterations in oral and gut viral composition in HTN and/or PD and identified significantly changed viruses in each group. Many viruses across three sites were significantly associated with blood pressure and other clinical parameters. Combined with these clinical associations, we found that Gillianvirus in subgingival plaques was negatively associated with HTN and that Torbevirus in saliva was positively associated with HTN. We found that Pepyhexavirus from subgingival plaques was indicated to be transferred to the gut. We finally evaluated viral-bacterial transkingdom interactions and found that viruses and bacteria may cooperate to affect HTN and PD. Correspondingly, HTN and PD may synergize to improve communications between viruses and bacteria.IMPORTANCEPeriodontitis (PD) and hypertension (HTN) are both highly prevalent worldwide and cause serious adverse outcomes. Increasing studies have shown that PD exacerbates HTN by oral and gut microbiota. Previous studies have focused on exploring the importance of the bacteriome in HTN and PD but overlooked the impact of the virome, even though viruses are common inhabitants in humans. Alterations in oral and gut viral diversity and composition contribute to diseases. The present study, for the first time, profiled the oral and gut viromes in HTN and/or PD. We identified key indicator viruses and their clinical implications in HTN and/or PD. We also investigated interactions between viruses and bacteria. This work improved the overall understanding of the viromes in HTN and PD, providing vital insights into the role of the virome in the development of HTN and PD.

ABSTRACTAccumulating evidence suggested that both gut microbiome and sex play a critical role in the efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade therapy. Considering the reciprocal relationship between sex hormones and gut microbiome, the sex hormone-gut microbiome axis may participate in the regulation of the response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). In this review, it was attempted to summarize the current knowledge about the influences of both sex and gut microbiome on the antitumor efficacy of ICIs and describe the interaction between sex hormones and gut microbiome. Accordingly, this review discussed the potential of enhancing the antitumor efficacy of ICIs through regulating the levels of sex hormones through manipulation of gut microbiome. Collectively, this review provided reliable evidence concerning the role of the sex hormone-gut microbiome axis in tumor immunotherapy.

Introduction: Considerable evidence has linked periodontitis (PD) to hypertension (HTN), but the nature behind this connection is unclear. Dysbiosis of oral microbiota leading to PD is known to aggravate different systematic diseases, but the alteration of oral microbiota in HTN and their impacts on blood pressure (BP) remains to be discovered. Objectives: To characterize the alterations of oral and gut microbiota and their roles in HTN. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional (95 HTN participants and 39 controls) and a 6-month follow-up study (52 HTN participants and 26 controls) to analyze the roles of oral and gut microbiota in HTN. Saliva, subgingival plaques, and feces were collected for 16S rRNA gene sequencing or metagenomic analysis. C57BL/6J mice were pretreated with antibiotics to deplete gut microbiota, and then transplanted with human saliva by gavage to test the impacts of abnormal oral-gut microbial transmission on HTN. Results: BP in participants with PD was higher than no PD in both cross-sectional and follow-up cohort. Relative abundances of 14 salivary genera, 15 subgingival genera and 10 gut genera significantly altered in HTN and those of 7 salivary genera, 12 subgingival genera and 6 gut genera significantly correlated with BP. Sixteen species under 5 genera were identified as oral-gut transmitters, illustrating the presence of oral-gut microbial transmission in HTN. Veillonella was a frequent oral-gut transmitter stably enriched in HTN participants of both cross-sectional and follow-up cohorts. Saliva from HTN participants increased BP in hypertensive mice. Human saliva-derived Veillonella successfully colonized in mouse gut, more abundantly under HTN condition. Conclusions: PD and oral microbiota are strongly associated with HTN, likely through oral-gut transmission of microbes. Ectopic colonization of saliva-derived Veillonella in the gut may aggravate HTN. Therefore, precise manipulations of oral microbiota and/or oral-gut microbial transmission may be useful strategies for better prevention and treatment of HTN.

Facial palsy would lead to a series of physical and mental problems, as facial function plays an important role in various aspects of daily life. However, the current strategies for evaluating facial function relied heavily on raters and the results varied from the experience of raters. Thus, an objective and accurate facial evaluation system is always claimed. In this study, a customized automatical facial evaluation system (AFES) was proposed, which might have the potential to be employed as an adjunctive and efficient assessing method in clinic. In order to investigate the feasibility of AFES, ninety-two participants with facial palsy were recruited and received scale-based subjective manual evaluation (including mHBGS and mSFGS) and objective automatical evaluation of AFES (including aHBGS, aSFGS and indicators of facial regional features) at enrollment and after two weeks. The correlations between the results of the two methods were analyzed and the participants were stratified according to the severity of facial function for further analyses. Strong positive correlations between manual and automatical HBGS and SFGS were observed and higher correlations were reported in the participants with normal-mild and moderate facial palsy. Significant improvements in clinical scales and indicator of eye synkinesis were found in forty-two participants in two weeks. Furthermore, some of the indicators were correlated with scale scores (I4, I7) and one of them presented a significant change between the baseline evaluation and follow-up evaluation (I7). According to the results, AFES could be considered as a viable method to perform objective and reliable evaluation for patients with facial palsy and provide clarified results for prognosis.

When traditional proportional integral and differential controllers are applied to speed control in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), their coefficients are basically determined based on experience, which inevitably leads to unsatisfactory results when using this parameter to control the speed stability of permanent magnet synchronous motors. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved quantum genetic algorithm using quantum states as the basic unit. Utilizing quantum properties for global optimization to optimize the coefficients of proportional integral and differential control, improving the rotation angle of quantum state particles through the idea of velocity changes in particle swarm optimization (PSO), introducing adaptive weight changes, using Hadamard gates to replace traditional algorithm mutation strategies, and incorporating disaster mechanisms. In addition, this paper uses four test functions to find the minimum value, thereby verifying that our algorithm has better performance in optimization iteration compared to other algorithms, providing the initial basis for the next step of application in PID parameter optimization. Prove that this method can solve the problem of traditional genetic algorithms falling into local optima due to improper selection, crossover, and mutation methods, which cannot effectively control the stability of motor speed. Finally, this paper uses Matlab2018a simulation to compare with the other four algorithms, and the results show that this algorithm can find better PID parameter values to achieve better results in motor oscillation, overshoot, and faster target speed.

D2D communication technology has been more and more widely used as a mobile communication technology that can perform specific services in specific areas. This paper introduces D2D technology into the offshore ships' communication system and proposes a channel resource allocation scheme for interference control in the system, so as to increase the number of devices in the network. This paper first establishes the model of the offshore ships' communication system and then applies the Hungarian algorithm based on the maximization of the average position. Finally, the comparative simulation experiments of the algorithms are proposed, which could show that the Hungarian algorithm based on model application can effectively control interference, and reduce the impact after introducing D2D communication devices into the network.

In recent years, antibiotics have frequently been detected in soil, lakes, and rivers. Antibiotic residues in the environment may alter microbial structure and cause bacterial resistance, but their effect on interactions among host microbiota is still poorly understood. To investigate this issue, here we used silkworm (Bombyx mori) fed on antibiotic‐treated mulberry leaf as a model to explore the effects of antibiotic exposure on gut bacteria and fungi. We observed that elimination of fungi significantly reduced bacterial richness and diversity in silkworm intestine after exposure to the antifungal amphotericin B, while the elimination of bacteria dramatically increased the richness and diversity of fungi after exposure to the antibacterial ampicillin–streptomycin. Thus, antibiotic‐treated mulberry leaf significantly altered the community structure of microbiota in the gut of silkworm. Clearance of gut bacteria enhanced the correlation between gut fungi and leaf‐derived fungi, while clearance of gut fungi promoted abnormal proliferation of gut bacteria. These data provide a simple model to explore the comprehensive effect of diet‐derived bacteria, fungi, and antibiotics on gut microbiota.

In this report, the case of a 65-year-old immunosuppressed female who presented with recurring redness and irritation in her right eye for 2 months is described. Ocular examination revealed conjunctival congestion, feather-like greyish-white corneal deep stromal infiltrate, white, floccular material sprawling from the anterior chamber angle and hypopyon. The in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) instantly confirmed fungal keratitis, and empirical antifungal therapy was thus administered. The patient exhibited therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty, however, due to the progression of infection and the lack of identified pathogens. The fungal isolate was identified as Corynespora cassiicola by metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) of the host cornea. The patient responded well to intensive conservative therapy and subsequent surgical therapy. To our knowledge, this case represents the first case of C. cassiicola infection from China, highlighting the emergence of a rare fungus that causes keratitis. Furthermore, mNGS has the capability to facilitate prompt identification and timely management of challenging ocular infections that are difficult to diagnose.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way human resources (HR) functions are carried out in the health sector of China. This study aims to scrutinize the impact of artificial intelligence on the human resource functions operating in the healthcare sector through technological awareness, social media influence, and personal innovativeness. Additionally, this study examines the moderating role of perceived risk between technological awareness and human resources functions. An online questionnaire was administered to human resources professionals in the health sector of China to gather data from 363 respondents. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), a statistical procedure, is implemented to investigate the hypothesis of the projected model of artificial intelligence and human resource functions. The research findings reveal that artificial intelligence significantly influences human resource functions through technological awareness, social media influence, and personal innovativeness. Furthermore, perceived risk significantly moderates the relationship between technological awareness and human resource functions. The findings of this study have important implications for HR practitioners and policymakers in the health sectors of China, who can leverage artificial intelligence technologies to optimize and improve organizational performance. However, its adoption needs to be carefully planned and managed to reap the full benefits of this transformative technology.

This research study aims to reveal the role of supply chain parameters approved by blockchain technology toward firm performance through trust. This study has also examined the moderating role of government support between trust and firm performance. The underlying theories reinforce the usefulness and flexibility of a supply chain in regulating daily fluctuations and uncertainties in supply and demand. Blockchain technology adoption with supply chain tactics provides a more suitable environment for better firm performance. Governments address legal and security concerns related to blockchain technology and provide clear guidelines and standards for its use in supply chains, which build trust among firms and stakeholders. A conceptual model has been developed with the assistance of past empirical research studies and associated theories. This research study has examined the following relationships from a sample of 465 employees from textile industrial firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The current research study assesses these parameters using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The analysis showed that supply chain parameters (alignment, agility, adaptability) approved by blockchain technology positively correlate with firm performance. Trust positively mediated the relationship between supply chain parameters approved by blockchain technology and firm performance. Furthermore, government support positively moderated the relationship between trust and firm performance. The study would provide directions for further research. These findings will give the global supply chain industry valuable insights into blockchain technology for firm performance. In theory, this research study would contribute to the scientific literature by answering how trust and government support affect the overall firm performance.

Industrial computed tomography (CT) images reconstructed directly from projection data using the filtered back projection (FBP) method exhibit strong metal artifacts due to factors such as beam hardening, scatter, statistical noise, and deficiencies in the reconstruction algorithms. Traditional correction approaches, confined to either the projection domain or the image domain, fail to fully utilize the rich information embedded in the data. To leverage information from both domains, we propose a joint deep learning framework that integrates UNet and ResNet architectures for the correction of metal artifacts in CT images. Initially, the UNet network is employed to correct the imperfect projection data (sinograms), the output of which serves as the input for the CT image reconstruction unit. Subsequently, the reconstructed CT images are fed into the ResNet, with both networks undergoing a joint training process to optimize image quality. We take the projection data obtained by analytical simulation as the data set. The resulting optimized industrial CT images show a significant reduction in metal artifacts, with the average Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) reaching 36.13 and the average Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) achieving 0.953. By conducting simultaneous correction in both the projection and image domains, our method effectively harnesses the complementary information from both, exhibiting a marked improvement in correction results over the deep learning-based single-domain corrections. The generalization capability of our proposed method is further verified in ablation experiments and multi-material phantom CT artifact correction.

The existence of defects in the enclosure structure is the primary cause of water and sand leakage in foundation pits, as well as being a significant source of danger in pit construction, but current research lacks an in-depth investigation of the generation mechanism and gestation process. In this paper, which comprehensively considers the microscopic particles and macroscopic level, the development mechanism of a water and sand leakage disaster in a foundation pit with a water-rich sand layer was studied using the principle of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method coupled analysis (CFD–DEM); moreover, based on the anisotropy of the particle force and fluid energy analysis, the deformation of the stratum and ground stress field were analyzed. The results show that the stress field will produce a plugging effect at a certain distance from the defect, and the strata exhibit a dominant displacement tendency in the vertical direction, resulting in the emergence of a gradually concave stress relaxation zone and an elliptical contour in the strata displacement map near the defect. The fluid energy describes the displacement of the sand layer very well, and it is separated into the sand layer’s centralized loss region and the major loss area based on the high and low levels of the fluid energy class. The impact of fluid at the defect reaches the maximum kinetic energy, which penetrates the structural weakness and causes the loss of sand particles, and the cross-section of the water influx near the defect gradually expands with the loss of particles, indicating that there is a danger of further expansion of the defect under the impact of water flow. These results have technical implications for the management of water and sand leakage disasters in foundation pit engineering.

Abstract Background Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has shown remarkable benefit in the treatment of a range of cancer types, although it may initiate immune related adverse events (irAEs) in patients. Some studies have shown that there is a close relationship between the occurrence of irAEs and prognosis. In present study, we have attempted to establish whether the occurrence of irAEs after the use of anti PD-1 antibodies is associated with treatment efficacy in people with advanced gastric cancer (AGC). Methods This study included patients treated with the anti-PD-1 antibodies for AGC patients at The Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University. IrAEs were identified clinically and graded as per the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events ver. 4.03. Efficacy was evaluated with objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). The analysis was performed to determine the association between irAEs and clinical outcomes. Result Of the 74 AGC patients in our study, 24 developed irAEs. The DCR of the irAE displayed a trend better than that of non-irAE group but without statistical difference (41.70% VS 6.0%, p = 0.118). Median PFS in the irAE group was superior to that in the non-irAE group (176 days VS 94 days, p = 0.001). Median OS also showed this trend of difference at borderline statistical level (292 days VS 239 days, p = 0.057). Multivariate analysis also demonstrated irAE (HR = 0.269, 95%CI: 0.088 to 0.822, p = 0.021) were associated independently with the better prognosis for AGC patients. Conclusion In advanced gastric cancer treated with anti PD-1 antibodies, the occourence of irAEs might contribute to the improved prognosis.

Abstract The aphasia quotient of Western Aphasia Battery (WAB-AQ) has been used as an inclusion criterion and as an outcome measure in clinical, research, or community settings. The WAB-AQ is also commonly used to measure recovery. This study aimed to quantitatively determine levels of the linguistic deficit by using a cluster analysis of the WAB-AQ in post-stroke aphasia (PSA). 308 patients were extracted from the database. Cutoff scores are defined by mean overlap WAB-AQ scores of clusters by systematic cluster analysis, the method of which is the farthest neighbor element, and the metrics are square Euclidean distance and Pearson correlation, performed on the full sample of WAB-AQ individual subitem scores. A 1-way analysis of variance, with post hoc comparisons conducted, was used to determine whether clusters had significant differences. Three clusters were identified. The scores for severe, moderate, and mild linguistic deficit levels ranged from 0 to 30, 30.1 to 50.3, and 50.4 to 93.7, respectively. For PSA, the cluster analysis of WAB-AQ supports a 3-impairment level classification scheme.

Near-surface temperatures, such as air, land surface, and soil temperatures, play significant roles in surface radiation and energy balance. This study assessed nine gridded near-surface temperature products and analyzed the spatial heterogeneity and clear-sky bias of these temperature variables, using extensive measurements collected at Heihe River Basin. The MXD21 (MOD21 and MYD21) product had the lowest root mean square error (RMSE) (3.35 K) among all skin temperature products but a high percentage of missing values (48.4 %). All-weather skin temperature products had comparable accuracy for the interpolated cloudy-sky cases (RMSE 4.92 K) and observed clear-sky pixels (RMSE 3.42 K). For air temperature, AMSR2 had the lowest RMSE (2.48 K), but a high percentage of invalid data (32.5 %); and ERA5 had a worse accuracy (RMSE 3.87 K) but a high spatial resolution and gap-free data coverage. Comparing products from the same data source, air and soil temperatures had higher accuracies than skin temperature. Among the different variables of temperature, the 0 cm soil temperature and skin temperature had higher spatiotemporal heterogeneity than the air temperature and the soil temperatures at greater depths. The skin temperature, 0 cm soil temperature, and air temperature had higher clear-sky biases compared to soil temperatures.

BackgroundGlobally, more than 10 million new stroke cases occur annually, of which aphasia accounts for about one-third. Aphasia has become an independent predictor of functional dependence and death for the stroke population. The closed-loop rehabilitation of combining behavioral therapy with central nerve stimulation seems to be the research trend of post-stroke aphasia (PSA) due to its advantages in improving linguistic deficits.ObjectiveTo verify the clinical efficacy of a closed-loop rehabilitation program combining melodic intonation therapy (MIT) with transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for PSA.MethodsThis was a single-center, assessor-blinded, randomized controlled clinical trial, which screened 179 patients and included 39 PSA subjects, with the registration number ChiCTR2200056393 in China. Demographic and clinical data were documented. The primary outcome was the Western Aphasia Battery (WAB) used to assess language function, and the secondary outcomes included Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), and Barthel Index (BI) for evaluating cognition, motor, and activities of daily living, respectively. With the computer-generated randomization sequence, subjects were randomly divided into the conventional group (CG), MIT combined with sham stimulation group (SG), and MIT combined with tDCS group (TG). After the three-week intervention, the functional changes in each group were analyzed by the paired sample T-test, and the functional difference between the three groups was analyzed by ANOVA.ResultsThere was no statistical difference on the baseline. After the intervention, the WAB’s aphasia quotient (WAB-AQ), MoCA, FMA, and BI were statistically different in SG and TG, including all the sub-items in WAB and FMA, while only listening comprehension, FMA, and BI were statistically different in CG. The differences of WAB-AQ, MoCA, and FMA were statistically different among the three groups, but BI was not. The post hoc test results revealed that the changes of WAB-AQ and MoCA in TG were more significant than the others.ConclusionMIT combined with tDCS can augment the positive effect on language and cognitive recovery in PSA.

Epoxy resin concrete has superior mechanical properties compared to ordinary concrete, and will play an increasingly important role in urban construction. In this paper, the application effect and prospect of epoxy resin concrete in precast composite frame structures are discussed. Taking the joint surface of the old and new concrete at the end of the composite beam as the research object, three specimens were devised and fabricated. Subsequently, a horizontal cyclic load test was conducted, and the seismic performance indices were analyzed. Multiple finite element models were established to assess the influence of precast concrete strength, the diameter of the longitudinal bar of the beam, the shear span ratio, and the epoxy resin concrete post-cast area, among other factors, on the seismic performance of the beam end. Four findings indicate the following: Firstly, epoxy resin concrete, characterized by its high performance attributes, can be used as a post-cast material in precast concrete structures. Secondly, when the strength of the post-cast epoxy concrete approximates or slightly exceeds that of the precast concrete, and the ratio of longitudinal reinforcement and shear span ratio are appropriately balanced, the operational performance of the composite beam frame structure is enhanced. In addition, when post-cast epoxy resin concrete is employed in the beam-column joint area, the mechanical performance of the composite beam end in the joint area matches or even surpasses that of the structure that was cast in situ. And subsequently, the expansion of post-cast area resulted in better mechanical performance. Finally, when the area of post-cast epoxy resin concrete is a non-node area, the mechanical properties of the composite beam end are worse than the former. However, the amount of epoxy resin concrete used will be greatly reduced, and as the precast node area expands, the bearing capacity of the beam end will increase and gradually approach the cast-in situ structure, indicating that this construction scheme also has advantages.
