Abstract

High-density Co 3 O 4 nanowire arrays have been fabricated by a simple, solvent-free synthesis method inside the alumina pores. It has been found that the pore diameter played a key role in the formation of the Co 3 O 4 nanowires. When the same reaction was performed in the narrow pores of the AAO template ( 120 nm) were applied. Selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns revealed that the nanowires were single-crystalline. Electrochemical measurements by an electrochemical workstation indicate that the specific capacitance characteristics of the as-prepared Co 3 O 4 nanowires are much higher than that of Co 3 O 4 particles.

Abstract

Mesoporous Co3O4 nanoparticles with different textural parameters were prepared by using mesoporous silicas, KIT-6 and SBA-15, as templates and Co(NO3)2·6H2O as precursor via an improved solid−liquid route. The results of N2 adsorption−desorption analysis indicated that the calcination temperature did not obviously affect the textural parameters of Co3O4 samples and the BET surface areas of Co3O4 samples could be regulated by different KIT-6 templates. The effects of calcination temperature and textural parameters on the electrochemical capacitive behaviors of Co3O4 samples were discussed. The results of electrochemical tests show the following: the capacitance value of the sample decreases slightly with the increase of the calcination temperature; the BET surface area is the crucial factor for the specific capacitance value; for mesoporous materials, large pore size and high ordering degree of mesopore facilitate ion transfer; and the meso-structure (2D hexagonal structure or 3D Ia3d cubic structure) of ...

Abstract

Three-dimensional cubic ordered mesoporous carbons with tunable pore sizes have been synthesized by using cubic Ia3d mesoporous KIT-6 silica as the hard template and boric acid as the pore expanding agent. The prepared ordered mesoporous carbons were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and nitrogen adsorption–desorption analysis. The results show that the pore sizes of the prepared ordered mesoporous carbons with three-dimensional cubic structure can be regulated in the range of 3.9–9.4 nm. A simplified model was proposed to analyze the tailored pore sizes of the prepared ordered mesoporous carbons on the basis of the structural parameters of the silica template.

Abstract

The chemical vapor deposition (CVD) fabrication of high-density three-dimension graphene macroscopic objects (3D-GMOs) with a relatively low porosity has not yet been realized, although they are desirable for applications in which high mechanical and electrical properties are required. Here, we explore a method to rapidly prepare the high-density 3D-GMOs using nickel chloride hexahydrate (NiCl2·6H2O) as a catalyst precursor by CVD process at atmospheric pressure. Further, the free-standing 3D-GMOs are employed as electrolytic electrodes to remove various heavy metal ions. The robust 3D structure, high conductivity (~12 S/cm) and large specific surface area (~560 m2/g) enable ultra-high electrical adsorption capacities (Cd2+~434 mg/g, Pb2+~882 mg/g~ Ni2+~1,683 mg/g, Cu2+~3,820 mg/g) from aqueous solutions and fast desorption. The current work has significance in the studies of both the fabrication of high-density 3D-GMOs and the removal of heavy metal ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
