The anticancer potential of quassinoids has attracted a great deal of attention for decades, and scientific data revealing their possible applications in cancer management are continuously increasing in the literature. Aside from the potent cytotoxic and antitumor properties of these degraded triterpenes, several quassinoids have exhibited synergistic effects with anticancer drugs. This article provides an overview of the potential anticancer properties of quassinoids, including their cytotoxic and antitumor activities, mechanisms of action, safety evaluation, and potential benefits in combination with anticancer drugs.

Abstract Objective Asprosin, a newly identified adipokine, is pathologically increased in type 2 diabetes. The aim of this study is to see whether serum asprosin concentrations are linked to diabetes mellitus-induced erectile dysfunction (DMED). Methods 90 male patients with type 2 diabetes were included. According to the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) score, they were classified into two groups: 45 type 2 diabetes patients without erectile dysfunction (DM group) (IIEF-5 > 21),45 patients with diabetes induced erectile dysfunction (DMED group) (IIEF-5 ≤ 21)0.45 healthy male volunteers with normal blood glucose, IIEF-5 score > 21 points, and age matched with the DMED group were included as the control group. Anthropometric and biochemical variables were determined in all participants. Results When compared to the controls, T2DM ( Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus)patients had higher serum asprosin levels. Construction 3D printing (C3DP) has emerged as an important force in automation and sustainable transformation of the construction industry. Despite the implementation of numerous incentive policies, its development and application remain at a relatively slow pace in developing countries. This research employs the Q methodology to explore the perspectives of China's stakeholders on the innovation policies for the development and application of C3DP. The study reviews the development of C3DP in China and identifies statements related to C3DP promotion policy and development. Based on data from C3DP industrial experts, the results reveal four distinct policy perspectives: conservative exploration, aggressive progression, intensive investigation, and tentative stimulation. A consensus exists that provides direction for policymaking though the divergences among stakeholders highlight the complexity of implementing policy mixes. This study has theoretical and practical significance in supporting policy mixes for C3DP development and adoption in fast-growing areas.

AbstractArenobufagin (ArBu) is a natural anticancer drug with good anti-tumor effects, but its clinical applications and drug development potential are limited due to its toxicity. The purpose of this study is to reduce the toxic side effects of ArBu and improve the efficacy of tumor treatment by incorporating it into poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly (lactide) co-polymer (PEG-PLA). ArBu@PEG-PLA micelles were prepared by a thin film hydration method. The optimized micelles were characterized by size, stability, drug loading, encapsulation rate, and drug release. The tumor-inhibition efficacy of the micelles was evaluated on A549 cells and tumor-bearing mice. The ArBu@PEG-PLA micelles have good drug-loading capacity, release performance, and stability. They can accumulate at the tumor site through the EPR effect. The micelles induce apoptosis through a mitochondrial apoptosis pathway. Compared with the free ArBu, the ArBu@PEG-PLA micelles had lower toxicity and higher safety in the acute toxicity evaluation experiment. The in vivo anti-tumor experiment with tumor-bearing mice showed that the tumor-inhibition rate of ArBu@PEG-PLA micelles was 72.9%, which was 1.28-fold higher than that of free ArBu (57.1%), thus showing a good tumor treatment effect. This study indicates that ArBu@PEG-PLA polymeric micelles can significantly improve the toxicity and therapeutic efficacy of ArBu. These can lead to a new therapeutic strategy to reduce the toxicity of ArBu and enhance tumor treatment.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the safety and efficacy of interventional therapy (iodine-125[125I] seed strand and portal vein stent [PVS] implantation plus transarterial chemoembolization [TACE]) combined with systemic therapy (lenvatinib plus anti-PD-1 antibody) as first-line treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with Vp4 portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT).Patients and methodsFrom December 2018 to October 2021, 87 HCC patients with Vp4 PVTT were included in this single-center retrospective study. Forty-seven patients underwent interventional therapy combined with lenvatinib and anti-PD-1 antibody (group A), while 40 cases underwent interventional therapy combined with lenvatinib only (group B). Overall response rate (ORR), stent occlusion rates (SOR), median overall survival (OS), median progression-free survival (PFS) and median stent patency time (SPT) were compared between the 2 groups.ResultsThe mean intended dose (r = 10 mm; z = 0; 240 days) was 64.9 ± 1.0 Gy and 64.5 ± 1.1 Gy in group A and B, respectively (p = 0.133). ORR and SOR were significantly different between group A and B (ORR, 55.3% vs 17.5%, p < 0.001; SOR, 12.8% vs 35.0%, p = 0.014). In the propensity-score matching (PSM) cohort, the median OS, median PFS and median SPT were significantly longer in group A compared with group B (32 PSM pairs; OS, 17.7 ± 1.7 vs 12.0 ± 0.8 months, p = 0.010; PFS, 17.0 ± 4.3 vs 8.0 ± 0.7 months, p < 0.001; SPT, not-reached vs 12.5 ± 1.1 months, p = 0.028).ConclusionThis interventional therapy combined with lenvatinib and anti-PD-1 antibody is safe and effective for HCC patients with Vp4 PVTT.

Silicone rubber is widely used in composite insulators and anti-pollution flashover coatings in the power industry. However,after long-term operation,it is prone to aging chalking and dirt deposition,which reduces the surface hydrophobicity. Hundreds of millions of silicone rubber insulators are in service for many years in the power grid,and it is urgent to study a new type of cleaning agent that can remove surface contamination and repair the aging layer of silicone rubber. The effects of different non-ionic surfactant content and repair agent content on cleaning efficiency and hydrophobicity were investigated. Experiments show that when the content of non-ionic surfactant is 3%,the cleaning efficiency is up to 95%. When the content of the repairing agent is 11%,the hydrophobicity is the best,and its hydrophobic migration can reach the HC1 level. Through scanning electron microscopy analysis,it is found that the micropores and cracks on the surface of the silicone rubber disappear after cleaning,and the surface is smooth,indicating that the cleaning agent has the ability of removing the aging layer and contamination,and repairing the aging insulators. This provides a theoretical and practical basis for continuing to develop silicone rubber clean-repairing agents and extending the service life of insulators.
