Abstract

Future transportation will replace the current mechanical combustible engines with chargeable electric vehicles (EVs). The DC-Dc boost converter is an essential part of such systems that not only helps to generate the required level but also helps to regulate the load voltage. In conventional boost converter topologies, their gain, switching losses, and high voltage stress across switches are the main reason for limiting the output power. Coupled inductor-based isolated converters increase the system weight and cost. Therefore, in this paper, a transformerless adjustable gain and non-isolated DC-DC boost converter with multi-port flexible power supply, reduced switch voltage stress, and considerable good range efficiency is proposed. 20. 1-φ Dual Boost ANPC Type Inverter Topology With High Voltage Gain

Abstract

This article proposes a novel seven-level boost active neutral point clamped topology with reduced component counts and a 3vin/(1-D) voltage gain. On the front side, a dual-input boost converter is used to reduce the stress on the dc-dc converter, and all the capacitors are inherently self-balanced. The front side dc-dc converter has two inductors, which minimize the high impulse source current that occurs during the charging of capacitors to capacitors. Further, the SiC-devices-based simulation for the proposed topology is presented to validate the performance under a higher switching frequency. A detailed comparison is presented with other recent boost-type topologies to show the superiority of the proposed topology. The proposed 7L-ANPC inverter topology is implemented and tested in the laboratory for various operating conditions, and the corresponding results are presented.

Abstract

With the advancement of the application of power converters in the power industry, the research towards the prominent power converter namely multilevel inverter has gained a lot of attraction. Here, a dual‐source configured 11 level inverter topology is being discussed, which uses nine power semiconductor devices and one capacitor. The proposed topology is able to charge the capacitor up to 2Vdc which provides the boosting feature with the voltage gain of 1.67. An extended comparison with several other topologies has been provided which highlights the major contribution of the work. A low‐power laboratory prototype has been used for the validation of the proposed 11 level topology. Further, a thorough assessment of comparable topologies has been conferred in detail. Abstract

In this paper, a new family of non‐isolated boost dc‐dc converters with high voltage gains is proposed. The proposed boost topologies exhibit very high voltage gains at moderate duty cycles and lower switch voltage/current stresses with reduced component counts. Here, a total of four new non‐isolated boost topologies are proposed using four‐terminal PWM high‐gain switch cells with an inductor‐switch network. Among these four topologies, two converters have identical voltage gain with opposite load voltage polarities and likewise other two exhibit similar nature (i.e., equal but opposite load voltage) but have higher gain than the former topologies. The detailed operating principle, steady‐state analysis, and design methodology are presented for the proposed positive output very high‐gain converter, which can be easily extended to the rest of the topologies. An exhaustive comparison study has been presented for the proposed topologies with the existing step‐up converters to highlight their advantages. Finally, the mathematical analysis, analytical studies, and high boosting feature of the proposed positive output high‐gain boost converter are verified using a 250 W, 50 kHz prototype. The experimental results are presented for different duty cycles with fixed input voltage to verify the efficacy of the proposed structures in terms of higher boosting capability.
