To investigate the changes in the quality of yak meat at different dry aging times (7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 d), in this study, sensory evaluation, texture analysis, and GC-IMS were employed to investigate the changes in texture and flavor of yak meat during different dry aging periods. Additionally, PLS-DA was utilized to identify the characteristic flavor compounds. The results showed that the dry aged 35 days sample exhibited the highest comprehensive score, with intact soft tissue structure and a favorable overall acceptability of aroma. The lack of diagnostic markers limits the window of effectiveness for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) therapies. Here, we isolated exosomes of serum samples from four distinct groups RA patients, according to disease activity and with/without medication. Then, total RNA of exosomes was extracted for whole-transcriptome sequencing. Focusing on lncRNA sequencing, gene ontology (GO) and kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were performed. We found that the number of upregulated lncRNAs were significantly higher than that of downregulated lncRNAs in each four RA groups. And most importantly, we identified two specific lncRNAs from differentially expressed lncRNAs, TCONS_I2_00013502 (up-regulated) and ENST00000363624 (down-regulated) in RA. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that the two lncRNAs were promising biomarkers for RA diagnosis. These findings highlight lncRNAs of the serum exosome are important biomarkers and provide application potential for diagnosis of RA.

Abstract Obesity often leads to severe medical complications. However, existing FDA-approved medications to combat obesity have limited effectiveness in reducing adiposity and often cause side effects. These medications primarily act on the central nervous system or disrupt fat absorption through the gastrointestinal tract. Adipose tissue enlargement involves adipose hyperplasia and hypertrophy, both of which correlate with increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) and hyperactivated X-box binding protein 1 (XBP1) in (pre)adipocytes. In this study, we demonstrate that KT-NE, a nanoemulsion loaded with the XBP1 inhibitor KIRA6 and α-Tocopherol, simultaneously alleviates aberrant endoplasmic reticulum stress and oxidative stress in (pre)adipocytes. As a result, KT-NE significantly inhibits abnormal adipogenic differentiation, reduces lipid droplet accumulation, restricts lipid droplet transfer, impedes obesity progression, and lowers the risk of obesity-associated non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in female mice with obesity. Furthermore, diverse administration routes of KT-NE impact its in vivo biodistribution and contribute to localized and/or systemic anti-obesity effectiveness.

BackgroundThis meta-analysis was performed to assess the prevalence and circulating strains of rotavirus (RV) among Chinese children under 5 years of age after the implantation of the RV vaccine.Material and methodsStudies published between 2019 and 2023, focused on RV-based diarrhea among children less than 5 years were systematically reviewed using PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang and SinoMed Data. We synthesized their findings to examine prevalence and genetic diversity of RV after the RV vaccine implementation using a fixed-effects or random-effects model.ResultsSeventeen studies met the inclusion criteria for this meta-analysis. The overall prevalence of RV was found to be 19.00%. The highest infection rate was noted in children aged 12-23months (25.79%), followed by those aged 24-35 months (23.91%), and 6-11 months (22.08%). The serotype G9 emerged as the most predominant RV genotype, accounting for 85.48% of infections, followed by G2 (7.70%), G8 (5.74%), G1 (4.86%), and G3 (3.21%). The most common P type was P[8], representing 64.02% of RV cases. Among G-P combinations, G9P[8] was the most frequent, responsible for 78.46% of RV infections, succeeded by G8P[8] (31.22%) and G3P[8] (8.11%).ConclusionDespite the variation of serotypes observed in China, the G1, G2, G3, G8 and G9 serotypes accounted for most RV strains. The genetic diversity analysis highlights the dynamic nature of RV genotypes, necessitating ongoing surveillance to monitor changes in strain distribution and inform future vaccine strategies.

Aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) with hetero-grains exhibit high strength with good ductility. A trimodal grain structure composed of ultrafine grains (UFGs), fine grains (FGs) and coarse grains (CGs) prevents the pre-mature cracking of hetero-zone boundaries in conventional bimodal grain structures; thus, it is favored by AMCs. However, the design of the size and distribution of hetero-domains in trimodal AMCs is tough, with complicated multi-scale deformation mechanisms. This study tunes the distribution of FG domains elaborately via altering the volume fraction of FG from 10 vol.% to 60 vol.% and investigates the distribution effect of FG domains on strength–ductility synergy. The optimized 2024 Al matrix composites with 30 vol.% FG exhibited a tensile strength of over 700 MPa and an elongation of 7.5%, respectively, realizing a good combination of high strength and ductility. This work enlightens the heterostructure design with a balance between heterogeneous deformation induced (HDI) strain hardening and high-content soft phase induced strain homogenization.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the environmental endocrine disruptors, due to its chemical stability it exists in abundant concentrations in water and soil consequently accumulating in the food chain and causing many endocrine-related health problems. So far, studies on the effects of BPA on marine invertebrates have focused on acute toxicity, endocrine regulation, reproduction, and development. However, fewer studies have been conducted on marine benthos. The current study aimed to detect the accumulation of BPA and its impact on tissue structure, antioxidant capacity, and immune indexes in marine worm, Urechis unicinctus. U. unicinctus, as a common marine benthic animal, were exposed to different concentrations of BPA. Blood cells and intestinal tract were taken for tissue structure inspection, and supernatant of the coelomic fluid was collected for oxidative and antioxidant biomarkers. Results showed that the accumulation of BPA in muscles of U. unicinctus tended to increase with exposure time. BPA induced a rise in H2O2 and MDA content, and altered the activities of CAT, T-SOD, GST, LSZ and ACP, weaken the immune system functions. Moreover, pathological observation showed that BPA caused severe histopathology in the respiratory intestine, stomach, and midgut. These results will be helpful to understand the response mechanism of U. unicinctus under BPA exposure and provide a reference for controlling the aquaculture conditions and marine water quality of U. unicinctus.

Abstract Background Sex disparities constitute a significant issue in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the mechanism of gender dimorphism in HCC is still not completely understood. Methods 5‐Hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC)‐Seal technology was utilised to detect the global 5hmC levels from four female and four male HCC samples. Methylation of XIST was detected by Sequenom MassARRAY methylation profiling between HCC tissues (T) and adjacent normal liver tissues (L). The role of Tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 2 (TET2) was investigated using diethylnitrosamine (DEN)‐administered Tet2−/− female mice, which regulated XIST in hepatocarcinogenesis. All statistical analyses were carried out by GraphPad Prism 9.0 and SPSS version 19.0 software. Results The results demonstrated that the numbers of 5hmC reads in the first exon of XIST from female HCC tissues (T) were remarkably lower than that in female adjacent normal liver tissues (L). Correspondingly, DNA methylation level of XIST first exon region was significantly increased in female T than in L. By contrast, no significant change was observed in male HCC patients. Compared to L, the expression of XIST in T was also significantly downregulated. Female patients with higher XIST in HCC had a higher overall survival (OS) and more extended recurrence‐free survival (RFS). Moreover, TET2 can interact with YY1 binding to the promoter region of XIST and maintain the hypomethylation state of XIST. In addition, DEN‐administered Tet2−/− mice developed more tumours than controls in female mice. Conclusions Our study provided that YY1 and TET2 could interact to form protein complexes binding to the promoter region of XIST, regulating the methylation level of XIST and then affecting the expression of XIST. This research will provide a new clue for studying sex disparities in hepatocarcinogenesis. Highlights XIST was significantly downregulated in HCC tissues and had gender disparity. Methylation levels in the XIST first exon were higher in female HCC tissues, but no significant change in male HCC patients. The TET2–YY1 complex regulate XIST expression in female hepatocytes. Other ways regulate XIST expression in male hepatocytes.

Craniofacial deformity and malocclusion are primary concerns following temporomandibular joint ankylosis (TMJa) in growing patients, and they pose even greater challenges in adult patients. The treatment objectives always involve restoring proper jawbone structure, achieving stable occlusion, and attaining satisfactory joint mobility. This report presents a 4-year follow-up of an adult patient with TMJa-induced mandibular deviation, who underwent a combined treatment approach involving distraction osteogenesis (DO) and orthodontic–orthognathic surgery. Orthodontic treatment resulted in favorable occlusion and improved facial esthetics. A new condyle with a reconstructed glenoid fossa in a forward position was established after mandibular DO and the damaged TMJ experienced self-remodeling owing to functional improvement. Thus, this case demonstrates the efficacy of DO in promoting adaptive TMJ self-remodeling with long-term stability when treating mandibular deviation caused by condylar ankylosis in adult patients.

There are significant variations in pathogenicity among different virulent strains of the Newcastle disease virus (NDV). Virulent NDV typically induces severe pathological changes and high mortality rates in infected birds, while avirulent NDV usually results in asymptomatic infection. Currently, the understanding of the specific mechanisms underlying the differences in host pathological responses and symptoms caused by various virulent NDV strains remains limited. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) can participate in a range of biological processes and plays a crucial role in viral infection and replication. Therefore, this study employed RNA-Seq to investigate the transcriptional profiles of chicken embryos’ visceral tissues (CEVTs) infected with either the virulent NA-1 strain or avirulent LaSota strain at 24 hpi and 36 hpi. Using bioinformatic methods, we obtained a total of 2532 lncRNAs, of which there were 52 and 85 differentially expressed lncRNAs at 24 hpi and 36 hpi, respectively. LncRNA analysis revealed that the severe pathological changes and symptoms induced by virulent NDV infection may be partially attributed to related target genes, regulated by differentially expressed lncRNAs such as MSTRG.1545.5, MSTRG.14601.6, MSTRG.7150.1, and MSTRG.4481.1. Taken together, these findings suggest that virulent NDV infection exploits the host’s metabolic resources and exerts an influence on the host’s metabolic processes, accompanied by excessive activation of the immune response. This impacts the growth and development of each system of CEVTs, breaches the blood–brain barrier, inflicts severe damage on the nervous system, and induces significant lesions. These observations may be attributed to variations in pathology. Consequently, novel insights were obtained into the intricate regulatory mechanisms governing NDV and host interactions. This will aid in unraveling the molecular mechanisms underlying both virulent and avirulent forms of NDV infection.

In tunnel smooth blasting, optimizing the water interval charging structure of peripheral holes is of great significance in improving the effect of smooth blasting and reducing the unit consumption of explosives. Addressing the issue of a single traditional evaluation standard, this paper proposes a composite index evaluation method for rock blasting damage in different zones, and the best charging structure is optimized according to the evaluation results. Taking Liyue Road Tunnel Light Smooth Blasting Project in Chongqing as the Research Background, the numeric models were established with ten kinds of charge structures, the charge structures and explosive quantity were optimized according to the evaluation results, and then the field tests were conducted. The results show that when the length of the water medium at the bottom of the hole is 20 cm, the damage range of the retained rock mass can be controlled while ensuring rock fragmentation. If the length of the water medium at the orifice and in the center of the hole is more than 30 cm, it will affect the superposition effect of the blast stress wave, resulting in under-excavation; in the preferred charge structure, the ratio of the length of the upper and lower explosives reaches 1:3, and the ratio of the length of the water medium is 2:2:1, which achieves a better rock-breaking effect in the field test.

Interlaid rock is an important component in the construction of neighborhood tunnels that supports and reinforces the area between two tunnels. However, the blasting load during excavation can sometimes damage the interlaid rock and threaten the stability of a tunnel’s structure. This paper presents a case study of the small clearance section of the Liantang highway tunnel project in Shenzhen, China, where the minimum distance between the two tunnels involved is only 0.5 m. To reduce the damage to the interlaid rock caused by blasting loads, we proposed a four-part excavation method with a vibration-cushioning rock layer in the following tunnel of neighborhood tunnels. Numerical simulation was used to model the damage prevention mechanism of the vibration-cushioning rock layer and to better understand the propagation of cracks in the interlaid rock. Furthermore, based on the simulation results, combined microseismic controlled-blasting technology was implemented, using innovative blasting patterns combined with different charge structures and blasting equipment designed according to the varying thickness of the interlaid rock. Finally, this implementation succeeded in protecting interlaid rock during blasting operations.

With the informationization of social processes, the amount of related data has greatly increased, making traditional storage media unable to meet the current requirements for data storage. Due to its advantages of a high storage capacity and persistence, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has been considered the most prospective storage media to solve the data storage problem. Synthesis is an important process for DNA storage, and low-quality DNA coding can increase errors during sequencing, which can affect the storage efficiency. To reduce errors caused by the poor stability of DNA sequences during storage, this paper proposes a method that uses the double-matching and error-pairing constraints to improve the quality of the DNA coding set. First, the double-matching and error-pairing constraints are defined to solve problems of sequences with self-complementary reactions in the solution that are prone to mismatch at the 3′ end. In addition, two strategies are introduced in the arithmetic optimization algorithm, including a random perturbation of the elementary function and a double adaptive weighting strategy. An improved arithmetic optimization algorithm (IAOA) is proposed to construct DNA coding sets. The experimental results of the IAOA on 13 benchmark functions show a significant improvement in its exploration and development capabilities over the existing algorithms. Moreover, the IAOA is used in the DNA encoding design under both traditional and new constraints. The DNA coding sets are tested to estimate their quality regarding the number of hairpins and melting temperature. The DNA storage coding sets constructed in this study are improved by 77.7% at the lower boundary compared to existing algorithms. The DNA sequences in the storage sets show a reduction of 9.7–84.1% in the melting temperature variance, and the hairpin structure ratio is reduced by 2.1–80%. The results indicate that the stability of the DNA coding sets is improved under the two proposed constraints compared to traditional constraints.

The influence of Tm-doped pedestal fiber splice on the output performance of a large-mode-area (LMA) Tm-doped fiber laser (TDFL) has been investigated. Arc-fusion induced refractive-index deformation leads to laser leakage from the core to the pedestal, resulting in a periodic decrease in the output power of TDFL. Based on the measured refractive-index of splice with different arc-fusion parameters, the influence of the Tm-doped pedestal splice on laser propagation was analyzed using the beam propagation method (BPM). The simulation results indicate that optimizing the arc-fusion parameters can improve the efficiency of laser coupling into the fiber core at the splice. Experimental comparisons were made to assess the impact of different arc-fusion parameters on laser performance. By optimizing arc-fusion parameters of the TDFL, the near-periodic power degradation is reduced effectively. A hundred-watt-level all-fiber TDF setup was established. Compared to the initial splice, the optical conversion efficiency increased from 39.6% to 48.4% and the beam quality factor M2 was reduced from 10.55 to 2.17 in the horizontal direction and from 11.89 to 2.26 in the vertical direction. Understanding these mechanisms behind the abnormal power fluctuations hold practical value for the design of TDF pedestal fiber and further power scaling.

A group of low-cost Fe40Ni(50-x)Cr10Mox high-entropy alloys (HEAs) without the Co element were proposed. The microstructure and properties were investigated. With the increase of Mo content, the microstructure changes from FCC single-phase to two-phase divorced eutectic, divorced eutectic + hypoeutectic, hypoeutectic, eutectic and hypereutectic, in which the two-phase is composed of FCC phase + σ phase. The yield strength of alloy increases with the increase of Mo content. Its strengthening mechanism transforms from solution strengthening to second phase strengthening and grain boundary strengthening. Mo-20 and Mo-22.5 have comprehensive mechanical properties, and their yield strength, fracture strength and plastic strain are 1103.1 MPa and 1127.9 MPa, 1924.5 MPa and 1881.7 MPa, 30.4% and 28.7% respectively. In addition, the revised equivalent Cr content (ECC) is proposed in the FeNiCrMo HEAs, ECC = at.%[Cr]+8/3 × at.%[Mo]. The eutectic composition can be precisely designed through the revised ECC and atomic content ratio (RI/F) of the intermetallic forming elements to the FCC forming elements in FeNiCrMo HEAs system. When 20 at.%≤Fe and Ni ≤ 40 at.%, and RI/F = ECC/[x × at.%Fe + y × at.%Ni] = 1.05 ± 0.3, FexNiyCrmMon is the eutectic high-entropy alloy.

Abstract Aims To explore the relationship between the fatty acid lipophilic index (LI) of the erythrocyte membrane and oral cancer risk, as well as to evaluate the possibility of LI acting as a mediator of the association between body mass index (BMI) and oral cancer. Method Twenty-three fatty acids (FAs) of the erythrocyte membrane were measured using gas chromatography in 380 patients with oral cancer and 387 control subjects. The LI was calculated based on the FA proportion and FA melting points. The association of BMI and erythrocyte LI with oral cancer risk was analysed using logistic regression. The mediation effect of LI on the association between BMI and oral cancer risk was evaluated using mediation analysis. Results Among the control group, 46.0% were overweight or obese, which was significantly higher than that of oral cancer patients (29.5%). Significant differences in erythrocyte membrane saturated fatty acids (SFAs), monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) were observed between the patient and control groups. The proportion of C18:1 n-9 from the MUFA family increased in oral cancer patients (12.67%) compared with controls (12.21%). While the total proportion of n-3 PUFAs decreased in oral cancer patients compared with controls, with C20:5 n-3 decreasing from 0.66 to 0.47%, and C22:6 n-3 decreasing from 5.82 to 4.86%. The LI was lower in the control participants (M = 27.6, IQR: 27.3–27.9) than in the oral cancer patients (M = 28.2, IQR: 27.9–28.5). BMI was inversely associated with oral cancer risk with a fully adjusted OR of 0.59 (95% CI: 0.43–0.83), while LI was positively associated with oral cancer risk with a fully adjusted OR of 1.99 (95% CI:1.36–2.94). LI explained 7% of the variance in the relationship between BMI and oral cancer risk. Conclusions The distribution of the FA profile in erythrocyte membranes differed between the oral cancer patients and the control group. The LI derived from the profile of FAs was positively associated with the risk of oral cancer, and the associations between BMI and oral cancer risk can be explained, at least in part, by LI.

Metaheuristic algorithms have the drawback that local optimal solutions are prone to precocious convergence. In order to overcome the disadvantages of the whale optimization algorithm, we propose an improved selective opposition whale optimization algorithm (ISOWOA) in this paper. Firstly, the enhanced quasi-opposition learning (EQOBL) is applied to selectively update the position of the predator, calculate the fitness of the population before and after, and retain optimal individuals as the food source position; Secondly, an improved time-varying update strategy for inertia weight predator position is proposed, and the position update of the food source is completed by this strategy. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed by 23 benchmark functions of CEC 2005 and 15 benchmark functions of CEC 2015 in various dimensions. The superior results are further shown by Wilcoxon's rank sum test and Friedman's nonparametric rank test. Finally, its applicability is demonstrated through applications to the field of biological computing. In this paper, our aim is to achieve access to DNA files and designs high-quantity DNA code sets by ISOWOA. The experimental results show that the lower bounds of the multi-constraint storage coding sets implemented in this paper equals or surpasses that of previous optimal constructions. The data show that the amount of the DNA storage cods filtered by ISOWOA increased 2–18%, which demonstrates the algorithm's reliability in practical optimization tasks.

Abstract Metastasis is one of the main causes of failure in the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Abnormally estrogen level and activated platelets are the key driving forces for TNBC metastasis. Herein, an “ion/gas” bioactive nanogenerator (termed as IGBN), comprising a copper-based MOF and loaded cisplatin-arginine (Pt-Arg) prodrug is developed for metastasis-promoting tumor microenvironment reprogramming and TNBC therapy. The copper-based MOF not only serves as a drug carrier, but also specifically produces Cu2+ in tumors, which catalytic oxidizing estrogen to reduce estrogen levels in situ. Meanwhile, the rationally designed Pt-Arg prodrug reduced into cisplatin to significantly promote the generation of H2O2 in the tumor, then permitting self-augmented cascade NO gas generation by oxidizing Arg through a H2O2 self-supplied way, thus blocking platelet activation in tumor. We clarified that IGBN inhibited TNBC metastasis through local estrogen deprivation and platelets blockade, affording 88.4% inhibition of pulmonary metastasis in a 4T1 mammary adenocarcinoma model. Notably, the locally copper ion interference, NO gas therapy and cisplatin chemotherapy together resulted in an enhanced therapeutic efficacy in primary tumor ablation without significant toxicity. This “ion/gas” bioactive nanogenerator offers a robust and safe strategy for TNBC therapy. Graphical Abstract

In order to better control the quality of Flos Puerariae (FP), qualitative and quantitative analyses were initially performed by using chemical fingerprint and chemometrics methods in this study. First, the fingerprint of FP was developed by HPLC and the chemical markers were screened out by similarity analysis (SA), hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA), principal components analysis (PCA), and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA). Next, the chemical constituents in FP were profiled and identified by HPLC coupled to Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (HPLC-FT-ICR MS). Then, the characteristic constituents in FP were quantitatively analyzed by HPLC. As a result, 31 common peaks were assigned in the fingerprint and 6 of them were considered as qualitative markers. A total of 35 chemical constituents were detected by HPLC-FT-ICR MS and 16 of them were unambiguously identified by comparing retention time, UV absorption wavelength, accurate mass, and MS/MS data with those of reference standards. Subsequently, the contents of glycitin, genistin, tectoridin, glycitein, genistein, and tectorigenin in 13 batches of FP were detected, ranging from 0.4438 to 11.06 mg/g, 0.955 to 1.726 mg/g, 9.81 to 57.22 mg/g, 3.349 to 41.60 mg/g, 0.3576 to 0.989 mg/g, and 2.126 to 9.99 mg/g, respectively. In conclusion, fingerprint analysis in combination with chemometrics methods could discover chemical markers for improving the quality control standard of FP. It is expected that the strategy applied in this study will be valuable for further quality control of other traditional Chinese medicines.

As a kind of energy storage device, a flexible supercapacitor has the characteristics of high capacity, fast charge/discharge rate, good stability, portability and softness. Conductive polymer polypyrrole (PPy) can be used as an electrode material for supercapacitors due to its environmental friendliness, simple synthesis process, good conductivity and potential for large-scale production. However, pristine PPy inevitably suffers from structural rupture due to repeated doping/de-doping during charge and discharge processes, which in turn impairs its cycle stability. In general, compounding with flexible substrates like soft carbon materials, cellulose or nylon fabric, is a good strategy to weaken the inner stress and restrain the structure pulverization of PPy. Herein, cellulose is utilized as a soft substrate to compound with PPy based on the electrochemical oxidation of polypyrrole. The interfacial electrodeposition method can successfully obtain a smooth, uniform and flexible PPy/cellulose composite film, which shows good conductivity. The assembled symmetric supercapacitor with PPy/cellulose film has an optimized specific capacitance of 256.1 mF cm−2, even after 10,000 cycles at a current density of 1 mA cm−2. Furthermore, there is no significant capacitance loss even after 180° bending of the device. This work provides a new means to prepare flexible, low-cost, environmentally friendly and high-performance electrode materials for energy conversion and storage systems.

The Chang’E 5 (CE-5) samples represent the youngest mare basalt ever known and provide an access into the late lunar evolution. Recent studies have revealed that CE-5 basalts are the most evolved lunar basalts, yet controversy remains over the nature of their mantle sources. Here we combine Fe and Mg isotope analyses with a comprehensive study of petrology and mineralogy on two CE-5 basalt clasts. These two clasts have a very low Mg# (∼29) and show similar Mg isotope compositions to Apollo low-Ti mare basalts as well as intermediate TiO _2 and Fe isotope compositions between low-Ti and high-Ti mare basalts. Fractional crystallization or evaporation during impact cannot produce such geochemical signatures that otherwise indicate a hybrid mantle source that incorporates both early- and late-stage lunar magma ocean (LMO) cumulates. Such a hybrid mantle source would be also compatible with the KREEP-like Rare Earth Elements pattern of CE-5 basalts. Overall, our new Fe–Mg isotope data highlight the role of late LMO cumulate for the generation of young lunar volcanism.

Abstract Background Gene therapy shows great promise for a broad array of diseases. However, we found that hypoxic tumor microenvironment (TME) exerted significant inhibitory effects on transfection efficiency of a variety of gene vectors (such as Lipo 2000 and PEI) in an oxygen-dependent manner. Solid tumors inevitably resulted in acute hypoxic areas due to the rapid proliferation of tumor cells and the aberrant structure of blood vessels. Thus, the hypoxic TME severely limited the efficiency and application of gene therapy. Methods In our previous study, we constructed endoplasmic reticulum-targeted cationic liposomes, PAR-Lipo, which could effectively deliver genes and ensure high transfection efficiency under normoxia. Unsatisfactorily, the transfection efficiency of PAR-Lipo was rather poor under hypoxia. We believed that reoxygenation was the most direct and effective means to rescue the low transfection under hypoxia. Hence, we fabricated liposomes modified with perfluorooctyl bromide (PFOB@Lipo) to load oxygen and deliver it to tumor sites, which effectively alleviated the hypoxic nature of tumor. Then PAR-Lipo were applied to mediate high-efficiency delivery of tumor suppressor gene pTP53 to inhibit tumor progression. Results The results showed that such staged strategy augmented the expression of P53 protein in tumors and extremely suppressed tumor growth. Conclusion This work was the first attempt to utilize an oxygen nanocarrier to assist the therapeutic effect of gene therapy under hypoxia, providing a new reference for gene therapy in malignant tumors. Changes in the mechanical properties of single cells are related to the physiological state and fate of cells. The construction of cell constitutive equations is essential for understanding the material characteristics of single cells. With the help of atomic force microscopy, bio-image processing algorithms, and other technologies, research investigating the mechanical properties of cells during static/quasi-static processes has developed rapidly. A series of equivalent models, such as viscoelastic models, have been proposed to describe the constitutive behaviors of cells. The stress-strain relations under dynamic processes are essential to completing the constitutive equations of living cells. To explore the dynamic mechanical properties of cells, we propose a novel method to generate a controllable dynamical compression shear coupling stress on living cells. A CFD model was established to visualize this method and display the theories, as well as assess the scope of the application. As the requirements or limitations are met, researchers can adjust the details of this model according to their lab environment or experimental demands. This micro-flow channel-based method is a new tool for approaching the dynamic mechanical properties of cells.

Plateau pikas (Ochotona curzoniae) are high-altitude model animals and famous “ecosystem engineers” on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Pika activities may accelerate the degradation of alpine meadows. Nevertheless, little is known about the responses of bacterial, fungal, and archaeal communities, and ecosystem multifunctionality to pika perturbations. To address this question, we studied the impacts of only pika disturbance and combined disturbance (pika disturbance and grazing) on ecological networks of soil microbial communities and ecosystem multifunctionality. Our results demonstrated that Proteobacteria, Ascomycota, and Crenarchaeota were dominant in bacteria, fungi, and archaea, respectively. Bacteria, fungi, and archaea were all influenced by the combined disturbance of grazing and pika. Most fungal communities became convergent, while bacterial and archaeal communities became differentiated during the succession of surface types. In particular, the bacterial and fungal networks were less stable than archaeal networks. In response to the interference, cross-domain cooperation between bacterial and fungal communities increased, while competitive interactions between bacterial and archaeal communities increased. Pika disturbance at high intensity significantly reduced the ecosystem multifunctionality. However, the mixed effects of grazing and pika weakened such influences. This study revealed how pika activities affected microbial networks and ecosystem multifunctionality. These results provide insights to designing reasonable ecological management strategies for alpine grassland ecosystems.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI), which is mainly caused by impact, often results in chronic neurological abnormalities. Since the pathological changes in vivo during primary biomechanical injury are quite complicated, the in-depth understanding of the pathophysiology and mechanism of TBI depends on the establishment of an effective experimental in vitro model. Usually, a bomb explosive blast was employed to establish the in vitro model, while the process is complex and unsuitable in the lab. Based on water-hammer, we have developed a device system to provide a single dynamic compression stress on living cells. A series of amplitude (∼5.3, ∼9.8, ∼13.5 MPa) were generated to explore the effects of dynamic compression loading on primary microglia within 48 h. Apoptosis experiments indicated that primary microglia had strong tolerance to blast waves. In addition, the generation of intercellular reactive oxygen species and secretory nitric oxide was getting strongly enhanced and recovered within 48 h. In addition, there is a notable release of pro-inflammatory cytokine by microglia. Our work provides a reproducible and peaceable method of loading single dynamic compression forces to cells in vitro. Microglia showed an acute inflammatory response to dynamic loadings, while no significant cell death was observed. This insight delivers a new technological approach that could open new areas to a better understanding of the mechanism of cell blast injuries.

Mold structure and cooling parameters are significant factors that affect the heat transfer capacity of high-speed continuous casting molds of billets. Therefore, a three-dimensional fluid flow and heat transfer model of a 160 mm × 160 mm billet mold was established, and its accuracy was verified. Thereby, the characteristics of heat transfer and influences of mold structure and cooling parameters on heat transfer in the high-speed continuous casting billet mold region were revealed. It was found that extending the effective length of a mold is the most valuable method to improve its heat transfer capability and achieve high-speed continuous casting. The total heat and the shell thickness at a mold outlet increased by 19% and 9.21% on average with every 100 mm extension. Enlarging the fillet radius could enhance the uniformity of heat transfer in the mold. Considering the loss of material, the optimal fillet radius of the mold was determined to be R = 10 mm.

In continuous casting, it is common to close single or multiple submerged nozzles of multi-strands tundish to adapt to production rhythm due to insufficient liquid steel or equipment failure. However, the closure of the nozzle will change the flow field in the tundish and further affect the removal efficiency of inclusions in the tundish. For this reason, based on numerical simulation, the flow behavior of liquid steel and the removal of inclusion in tundish with different nozzle closed were studied, and the optimal nozzle closing scheme was obtained, which provided a basis for the selection of nozzle closing in tundish. At the same time, the gas curtain is set in the tundish to alleviate the negative effects such as the increase of dead zone caused by closing nozzle. The results show that the removal rate of inclusions with sizes 10, 30, 50, 70, and 90 μm change from 12.4%, 39.1%, 74.2%, 93.3%, and 95.6% to 14.7%, 36.4%, 76.4%, 85.3%, and 93.8%, respectively. The volume of the tundish dead zone is increased after closure of nozzle, the dead zone of the tundish is improved when the gas is installed, and the dead zone volume was reduced from 14.8% and 16.4% to 13.9 and 14.1%.

BackgroundDietary fiber and vitamin C has been reported to play a possible role in tumorigenesis. However, few studies have estimated their association with oral cancer risk. In this project, we investigated the relationship between dietary fiber and vitamin C and oral cancer risk in adults in Southern China.Methods382 patients newly diagnosed with oral cancer were matched to 382 hospital derived controls by frequency matching in age and sex. Pre-diagnostic consumption of dietary fiber and vitamin C intake were measured through food frequency questionnaire. Association between nutrients intake and oral cancer risk were evaluated by logistic regression. OR value and 95% confidence interval was calculated.ResultsIntake of dietary fiber and vitamin C was significantly lower in oral cancer patients (8.15 g/day) than in control participants (8.88 g/day). Increased dietary fiber or vitamin C intake was linked to a decreased incidence of OC after adjustment of age, marital status, residence, BMI, occupation, education, tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption and family history of cancer Ptrend< 0.001). Compared with the lowest tertile, the adjusted OR of the top tertile of dietary fiber was 0.47 (95 % CI 0.32, 0.68). While the adjusted OR of the highest tertile was 0.60 (95 % CI 0.42, 0.87) compared with the lowest tertile of vitamin C.ConclusionsDietary intake of fiber and vitamin C were lower in oral cancer patients than in control participants. Dietary fiber and vitamin C were inversely related to risk of oral cancer risk.

ObjectiveTo investigate the association between dietary fatty acid (FA) patterns and the risk of oral cancer.MethodA case-control study which included 446 patients with oral cancer and 448 controls subjects was conducted in Southeast China. A structured food frequency questionnaire was used to assess the dietary FA consumption before cancer diagnosis. FA patterns were identified using the principal component analysis, and the relationship between the dietary FA patterns and oral cancer was analyzed by logistic regression.ResultsGeneral differences in FA intake were observed between the patient and control groups. The intakes of saturated FAs (SFAs) C14:0, C16:0, C18:0, and monounsaturated FA C18:1 were higher in the patient group than the control group (p < 0.001). Four FA patterns were derived by principal component analysis. The “SFA” pattern, “Polyunsaturated FA” pattern, “Monounsaturated FA” pattern, and “Medium- and long-chain FA” pattern, which could explain 75.7% of the variance of the dietary FA intake, were submitted to logistic regression analysis. A positive association was observed between the “SFA” pattern and oral cancer risk. Compared with the lowest quartile score, the OR of the highest quartile score was 3.71 (95%CI: 2.31, 5.94, Ptrend < 0.001) in the multivariate logistic regression model. No significant association was found among the other three patterns and oral cancer risk.ConclusionsGeneral differences in dietary FA intake were observed between patients with oral cancer and controls. A positive association between the “SFA” pattern and risk of oral cancer was observed after adjusting for potential confounders.

The thicknesses of mold flux film and air gap are significant factors that affect the high-efficiency heat transfer, the strand lubrication and mold taper design of billet ultra-high speed continuous casting mold. Therefore, this paper established the three-dimensional fluid flow, heat transfer and solidification model, interfacial heat transfer model and two-dimensional stress-strain model to conduct multiphysics modeling. Thereby the thickness distributions of liquid slag, solid slag and air gap in the ultra-high speed billet continuous casting mold were obtained, and analyzing the effects of melting temperature of mold flux and mold taper. The results indicate that the thicknesses of liquid slag and solid slag increase and decrease respectively along the casting direction, and air gap mainly concentrates near the mold corner. The maximum thicknesses of liquid slag, air gap, and solid slag at the mold outlet are respectively 0.18 mm at the center of the strand surface (x = 0 mm), 0.28 mm at the strand corner (x = 80 mm) and 0.67 mm at x = 74 mm. The lower melting temperature of mold flux, the greater the liquid slag thicknesses and ascend from 0.14 to 0.18 mm, and conversely the maximum air gap thicknesses descend from 0.31 to 0.28 mm and existing ranges also get smaller, which is more favorable for the strand lubrication. To eliminate the air gap, the appropriate linear mold taper is 0.45% m−1 at the 6.5 m/min in casting speed.

MCA is a halogen-free flame retardant. It can cause damage to other tissues such as the kidneys and liver. However, the effects on the circadian rhythm and thyroid in adult mice have not been studied. In this article, adult male mice received MCA at concentrations of 0, 10, 20, 30 mg/kg. The results showed that the time spending on wheel-running and rest bouts changed in different period after MCA exposure. MCA disrupted the T3 and T4 hormone homeostasis and decreased the expression of thyroid hormone synthesis genes. The histological morphology of the thyroid gland was damaged. It was suggested that MCA exposure caused circadian rhythm disorder and thyroid dysfunction.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are two common multisystem autoimmune diseases that share, among others, many clinical manifestations and serological features. The role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been of particular interest in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. Here, we aimed to summarize the roles of lncRNAs as emerging novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets in SLE and RA. We conducted a narrative review summarizing original articles on lncRNAs associated with SLE and RA, published until November 1, 2021. Based on the studies on lncRNA expression profiles in samples (including PBMCs, serum, and exosomes), it was noted that most of the current research is focused on investigating the regulatory mechanisms of these lncRNAs in SLE and/or RA. Several lncRNAs have been hypothesized to play key roles in these diseases. In SLE, lncRNAs such as GAS5, NEAT1, TUG1, linc0949, and linc0597 are dysregulated and may serve as emerging novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In RA, many validated lncRNAs, such as HOTAIR, GAS5, and HIX003209, have been identified as promising novel biomarkers for both diagnosis and treatment. The shared lncRNAs, for example, GAS5, may participate in SLE pathogenesis through the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway and trigger the AMP-activated protein kinase pathway in RA. Here, we summarize the data on key lncRNAs that may drive the pathogenesis of SLE and RA and could potentially serve as emerging novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets in the coming future.

Due to their safety and sustainability, polysaccharides such as cellulose and chitosan have great potential to be the matrix of gel polymer electrolytes (GPE) for lithium-based batteries. However, they easily form hydrogels due to the large numbers of hydrophilic hydroxyl or amino functional groups within their macromolecules. Therefore, a polysaccharide-based amphiphilic gel, or organogel, is urgently necessary to satisfy the anhydrous requirement of lithium ion batteries. In this study, a PEGylated chitosan was initially designed using a chemical grafting method to make an GPE for lithium ion batteries. The significantly improved affinity of PEGylated chitosan to organic liquid electrolyte makes chitosan as a GPE for lithium ion batteries possible. A reasonable ionic conductivity (1.12 × 10−3 S cm−1) and high lithium ion transport number (0.816) at room temperature were obtained by replacing commercial battery separator with PEG-grafted chitosan gel film. The assembled Li/GPE/LiFePO4 coin cell also displayed a high initial discharge capacity of 150.8 mA h g−1. The PEGylated chitosan-based GPE exhibits great potential in the field of energy storage.

Background: Little is known about the clinical characteristics of idiopathic condylar resorption (ICR). The aim of this study was to examine the signs and symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) and evaluate the morphological characteristics of the condyles in patients with ICR. Methods: Sixty patients with ICR (41 in the bilateral ICR group and 19 in the unilateral ICR group) and forty-one healthy controls were examined. Signs and symptoms of TMD were described, and three-dimensional models of the condyles were measured and analyzed. Results: In total, 81.7% of ICR patients had self-reported symptoms and 78.3% of ICR patients had objective-found signs. The anteroposterior diameter, transverse diameter, height, maximal sectional area, volume of the condyles, axial angle, and the distance from the posterior point of the condyle to the Saggittal standard line were significantly smaller in the ICR condyles compared with the controls (p < 0.05). The condylar neck angle was significantly larger in the ICR condyles compared with the controls (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Most patients with ICR had signs and symptoms of TMD. The prevalence of clicking and opening–closing deviation was significantly different between the bilateral and the unilateral ICR groups. In patients with ICR, the size of the condyles decreased significantly; the condyles also rotated inward, moved forward, and inclined posteriorly.

Polydatin, an active ingredient from the roots of Polygonum cuspidatum, is considered to have protective effects on the cardiovascular system and liver. In this study, we demonstrated that polydatin has antitumor activity against human cervical cancer. Polydatin efficiently inhibited cervical cancer cell proliferation by regulating cell cycle-related proteins including p21, p27, CDK2, CDK4, Cyclin D1, and Cyclin E1. Furthermore, polydatin suppressed cell invasion and migration by regulating epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers, including E-cadherin, N-cadherin, Snail and Slug. The c-Myc, as a proto-oncogene, is considered to be closely associated with the proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells. After polydatin treatment, the protein expression of c-Myc showed a significant decrease. Based on these data, we overexpressed c-Myc in cervical cancer cells and observed that the overexpression of c-Myc rescued the inhibitory effect of polydatin on cell proliferation and metastasis. These results indicated that polydatin can inhibit cell proliferation and metastasis through suppressing the c-Myc expression in human cervical cancer.

Melamine cyanuric acid (MCA) is a flame retardant linked by hydrogen bonds between melamine and cyanuric acid. MCA is used in an excellent series of phosphorus and nitrogen flame retardants. MCA can harm the kidney, liver, testis, and spleen cells. However, the effects of MCA on the emotions and behaviour of adolescent mice have not yet been investigated. In this article, male mice were exposed to MCA at 10, 20, and 40 mg/kg for four weeks. MCA exposure resulted in enhanced mouse locomotor and nocturnal activity. We also observed anxiety-like and depression-like behaviours. Moreover, after MCA exposure, the serum concentrations of thyroid-related hormones were changed, and the mRNA levels were affected. In short, MCA exposure can cause behavioural and emotion disorders.

Abstract Background Influenza A and B viruses mainly cause respiratory infectious disease. Till now, few tests are able to simultaneously detect both, especially in primary medical establishments. Methods This study was designed to compare the performance of two different one-step-combined test strips for the detection of influenza A and B: one strip with fluorescent microspheres for tracers (FMT); and the other strip with colored microspheres for tracers (CMT). To test the strips, cultures of influenza A, B, and other pathogenic viruses were used, in addition to 1085 clinical specimens from symptomatic patients with respiratory infections. Real-time RT-PCR was also considered as a reference method used to detect the different results of FMT and CTM. Monitoring small drones is significant for security requirements, but it is challenging because of small drones' low radar cross section (RCS) and hovering ability. In order to analyze the effect of radar waveform on the echo spectra and optimize the waveform design, an analytical expression of the rotor's temporal RCS is desired. Integral model, a widely used radar echo model of the rotor's temporal RCS, does not involve the electromagnetic scattering, thus it cannot be applied to all frequency bands. The method of moments (MoM) is a strictly numerical method based on the Maxwell's equations, but cannot obtain the analytical expression. Hence, this paper proposes a new method combing the integral model and MoM to model the rotor's temporal RCS in very high frequency (VHF) band. The linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal which has a high Doppler tolerance and a large gain bandwidth product is adopted in optimizing waveform parameters design. Based on the new method, the analytical expression of LFM echo is also derived. Moreover, the spectral spread over range and Doppler dimension caused by the rotating rotors is analyzed in detail. A criterion for optimizing the LFM waveform parameters for small drone detection is presented. Field experiments confirm the validity of the echo model and waveform parameters optimization criterion, and the full Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene small drone is successfully detected in VHF band. In addition, experiments are implemented to verify the applicability of the echo model and waveform parameters optimization method to other drones with different size.

Loess tunnels often undergo large-scale deformation with complex spatial and temporal distribution. Mastering the characteristics of spatial and temporal deformation is conducive to precise policy implementation and the control of large deformation of the tunnel. In this study, relying on the Yulinzi Tunnel in Gansu Province, China, based on 3D laser scanning technology, the tunnel was monitored for a short period of 24 h and a long period of 36 days. The refined characteristics of the temporal and spatial deformation of the representative points of the interrupted surface, the tunnel face, and the excavation mileage during the excavation process of the three-bench and seven-step method of the tunnel were analyzed. The results show that the tunnel’s arch has large deformation, and there is twisting deformation. The distribution of the overall deformation of the tunnel is related to the excavation sequence, showing a stepped deformation law. With the construction of the following excavation process, the deformation rate of the tunnel always indicates the characteristics of significant in the early stage and small in the later stage, and the overall deformation changes with time in accordance with the distribution law of the exponential function. The research results provide a reference for predicting the deformation development trend of loess tunnels and providing reasonable deformation control methods.

The highly virulent Newcastle disease virus (NDV) isolates typically result in severe systemic pathological changes and high mortality in Newcastle disease (ND) illness, whereas avirulent or low-virulence NDV strains can cause subclinical disease with no morbidity and even asymptomatic infections in birds. However, understanding the host’s innate immune responses to infection with either a highly virulent strain or an avirulent strain, and how this response may contribute to severe pathological damages and even mortality upon infection with the highly virulent strain, remain limited. Therefore, the differences in epigenetic and pathogenesis mechanisms between the highly virulent and avirulent strains were explored, by transcriptional profiling of chicken embryonic visceral tissues (CEVT), infected with either the highly virulent NA-1 strain or the avirulent vaccine LaSota strain using RNA-seq. In our current paper, severe systemic pathological changes and high mortality were only observed in chicken embryos infected with the highly virulent NA-1 strains, although the propagation of viruses exhibited no differences between NA-1 and LaSota. Furthermore, virulent NA-1 infection caused intense innate immune responses and severe metabolic disorders in chicken EVT at 36 h post-infection (hpi), instead of 24 hpi, based on the bioinformatics analysis results for the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between NA-1 and LaSota groups. Notably, an acute hyperinflammatory response, characterized by upregulated inflammatory cytokines, an uncontrolled host immune defense with dysregulated innate immune response-related signaling pathways, as well as severe metabolic disorders with the reorganization of host–cell metabolism were involved in the host defense response to the CEVT infected with the highly virulent NA-1 strain compared to the avirulent vaccine LaSota strain. Taken together, these results indicate that not only the host’s uncontrolled immune response itself, but also the metabolic disorders with viruses hijacking host cell metabolism, may contribute to the pathogenesis of the highly virulent strain in ovo.

Feet-lock steel pipes have been widely applied in soft-rock tunnels, but their installation quantity and parameters depend on engineering experience. In this study, by simplifying the force between the feet-lock steel pipe and the primary lining, the load-deformation characteristics were analyzed separately, and inconsistent deformation was revealed. Next, combined with the passive and active bearing scheme, a design optimization method for feet-lock steel pipes was proposed under two working conditions, including the predicted large deformation and observed large deformation before the primary lining construction. Finally, the design method was applied to the Yulinzi Tunnel, and the results show that the original design of the feet-lock steel pipes could not meet the requirements of the controlling settlement. After the optimized design, both the passive bearing scheme installing two ϕ108 × 3-millimeter steel pipes and the active bearing scheme installing one ϕ108 × 4-millimeter steel pipe could meet the requirements of the controlling settlement. The active bearing design can significantly reduce the amount of steel required and the engineering cost. The scientificity and feasibility of the design optimization method were proven by the on-site monitoring and measurement.

Decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE), a widely used new brominated flame retardant, is added into flammable materials to achieve fire retardation. As it is continuously detected in the environment, it has become an emerging environmental pollutant. However, the effects of DBDPE exposure on oocyte maturation and its underlying mechanisms remain unknown. This study found that DBDPE exposure inhibited the rate of germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD), first polar body extrusion (PBE) and fertilization of mouse oocytes. After 14 h of exposure to DBDPE, metaphase II (MII) oocytes showed that the hardness of zona pellucida (ZP) markedly increased and that the spindle morphology was abnormal. Moreover, DBDPE exposure induced abnormal mitochondrial distribution, mitochondrial dysfunction, and ATP deficiency. Simultaneously, DBDPE exposure down-regulated the expression of antioxidant-related genes (Sod2, Gpx1) and increased the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in oocytes. The results of immunofluorescence and qRT-PCR revealed that autophagy occurred in DBDPE-treated oocytes with high expression of autophagy-related protein (LC3) and genes (Lc3, Beclin1). Meanwhile, DBDPE significantly up-regulated the protein (Bax) and mRNA (Bax, Caspase3) levels of pro-apoptosis genes. However, the protein and mRNA expression of anti-apoptosis genes Bcl-2 was dramatically down-regulated in DBDPE-exposed oocytes. Collectively, DBDPE exposure impaired mitochondrial function, causing oxidative damage, autophagy and apoptosis in oocytes.

The finite-time H control of a fractional-order hydraulic turbine governing system (HTGS) is studied. First, a fractional-order HTGS as well as its generalized Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is presented. Then, based on the fractional-order stability theorem, the robust H state feedback control is designed to guarantee that the HTGS is asymptotically stable with prescribed H∞ performance. Furthermore, the H∞ control is integrated with finite-time control theory, a finite-time H∞ control is proposed for the fractional-order HTGS, and the stability condition is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, simulation results verify the validity and superiority of the proposed control method.

In this paper, we present a high-energy, narrow pulse-width, long-wave infrared laser based on a ZnGeP2 (ZGP) optical parametric oscillator (OPO). The pump source is a 2.1 μm three -stage Ho:YAG master oscillator power-amplifier (MOPA). At a repetition frequency of 1 kHz, the Ho:YAG MOPA system outputs the maximal average power of 52.1 W, which corresponds to the shortest pulse width of 14.40 ns. By using the Ho:YAG MOPA system as the pump source, the maximal average output powers of 3.15 W at 8.2 μm and 11.4 W at 2.8 μm were achieved in a ZGP OPO. The peak wavelength and linewidth (FWHM) of the long-wave infrared laser were 8156 nm and 270 nm, respectively. At the maximal output level, the pulse width and beam quality factor M2 were measured to be 8.10 ns and 6.2, respectively.

The compact high-frequency surface wave radar using a crossed-loop/monopole (CLM) antenna as the receiving sensor has been widely used in ocean remote sensing and target monitoring. However, the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation accuracy of a single CLM antenna is the dominant factor that restricts the target monitoring performance of the compact HF radar. Besides, the single CLM antenna can estimate two signals simultaneously at most, but its effectiveness is challenged by the pattern distortion and the existence of coherent sources, which limits the application range of the compact HF radar. In this study, a compact array combining two CLM antennas is proposed to improve the DOA estimation accuracy and solve the multisource DOA estimation problem. The estimation error and multisource DOA estimation performance of a dual CLM antenna array are analyzed by formula derivation and simulation. Furthermore, the field experiment results are given to demonstrate the performance improvement of the dual CLM antenna array.

The use of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) in medical practice can effectively reduce the radiation risk of patients, but it may increase noise and artefacts, which can compromise diagnostic information. The methods based on deep learning can effectively improve image quality, but most of them use a training set of aligned image pairs, which are difficult to obtain in practice. In order to solve this problem, on the basis of the Wasserstein generative adversarial network (GAN) framework, we propose a generative adversarial network combining multi-perceptual loss and fidelity loss. Multi-perceptual loss uses the high-level semantic features of the image to achieve the purpose of noise suppression by minimizing the difference between the LDCT image and the normal-dose computed tomography (NDCT) image in the feature space. In addition, L2 loss is used to calculate the loss between the generated image and the original image to constrain the difference between the denoised image and the original image, so as to ensure that the image generated by the network using the unpaired images is not distorted. Experiments show that the proposed method performs comparably to the current deep learning methods which utilize paired image for image denoising.
