In this study, we present the synthesis, kinetic studies of inhibitory activity toward aldo-keto reductase 1C (AKR1C) enzymes, and anticancer potential toward chemoresistant ovarian cancer of 10 organoruthenium compounds bearing diketonate (1-6) and hydroxyquinolinate (7-10) chelating ligands with the general formula [(η6-p-cymene)Ru(chel)(X)]n+ where chel represents the chelating ligand and X the chlorido or pta ligand. Our studies show that these compounds are potent inhibitors of the AKR enzymes with an uncommon inhibitory mechanism, where two inhibitor molecules bind to the enzyme in a first fast and reversible step and a second slower and irreversible step. The binding potency of each step is dependent on the chemical structure of the monodentate ligands in the metalloinhibitors with the chlorido complexes generally acting as reversible inhibitors and pta complexes as irreversible inhibitors. Our study also shows that compounds 1-9 have a moderate yet better anti-proliferative and anti-migration action on the chemoresistant ovarian cancer cell line COV362 compared to carboplatin and similar effects to cisplatin. We report herein on three zigzag one-dimensional coordination polymers of {[Ru2 (µ-NHOCR)4](µ-SCN)}n (R = o-Me-C6H4 (2), m-Me-C6H4 (3), p-Me-C6H4 (4)) formula. These new compounds have been obtained by reaction of the corresponding [Ru2(µ-NHOR)4(THF)2](BF4) complex with (NBu4)(SCN) under different synthetic conditions. The crystal structure of [Ru2 (µ-NHOCC6H4-o-Me)4(THF)2](BF4) (1), 2 and 3 are presented. A cis-(2,2) arrangement of the amidate ligands of the [Ru2(µ-NHOCR)4]+ units is observed in all cases. Interestingly, the structures of 2 and 3 show linkage isomerism in alternated tetraamidatodiruthenium units whose axial positions are occupied by the same type of donor atom of the SCN ligands. This results in zigzag chains with a Ru-S-C angle of 98.97ffi and Ru-N-C angle of 169.36ffi in the case of 2 and 97.99ffi and 159.26ffi, respectively, in the case of 3. The magnetic data obtained for 2-4 are indicative of a 24ffi2(*ffi*)3 ground state (S = 3/2) and a large zero-field splitting (ZFS) in all cases (D = 54.57, 62.72 and 43.00 cm-1 for 2-4, respectively). Similar small antiferromagnetic interactions between diruthenium units (zJ = 0.93, 0.79 and 1.11 cm1 for 2-4, respectively) are estimated for all the polymers, suggesting an analogous zigzag arrangement of the chains for 4. 2D materials display exciting properties in numerous fields, but the development of applications is hindered by the low yields, high processing times, and impaired quality of current exfoliation methods. In this work we have used the excellent MW absorption properties of MoS 2 to induce a fast heating that produces the near-instantaneous evaporation of an adsorbed, low boiling point solvent. The sudden evaporation creates an internal pressure that separates the MoS 2 layers with high efficiency, and these are kept separated by the action of the dispersion solvent. Our fast method (90 s) gives high yields (47% at 0.2 mg/mL, 35% at 1 mg/mL) of highly exfoliated material (90% under 4 layers), large area (up to several μm 2 ), and excellent quality (no significant MoO 3 detected).
