Abstract

Kabupaten Sorong banyak menyimpan sumber daya alam yang mempunyai kelebihan untuk dijadikan suatu obyek wisata alam, seperti Taman Wisata Alam Klamono (TWAK). Namun dalam pembangunan wisata alam memunculkan berbagai tantangan dan kendala, sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya pengembangan wisata alam dengan serius dan strategi yang tepat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 3 strategi yang diterapkan pemerintah Kabupaten Sorong, yaitu meningkatkan sumber daya finansial, sarana dan prasasaran serta sumber daya manusia, meningkatkan peran para stakeholder untuk membangun kerjasama yang sinergis dan bermanfaat, serta meningkatkan kemampuan masyarakat lokal untuk meningkatkan daya tarik wisata alam sesuai potensi TWAK. Beberapa faktor kendala yang mempengaruhi implementasi strategi dalam mengembangkan wisata alam di TWAK, yaitu ketersediaan anggaran daerah yang belum memadai, kualitas dan kuantitas sumber daya manusia yang masih rendah, sarana dan prasarana wisata alam yang belum memadai, kondisi sosial masyarakat yang masih mempermasalahkan hak ulayat, serta kerjasama yang kurang maksimal antar para stakeholder.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the potential of the Sorong nature tourism park (NTP), potential feasibility and management startegis of area.That potential consisting of the biophysical conditions of the area (climate, topography, geology, soil and hydrology in the form of rivers and waterfalls) as well as biodiversity potential both flora (flora natural forest and plantation forest) and fauna and management by the unit institution. The area was feasible to be developed as ecotourism with a feasibility index of 84.09%.

Abstract

Wasur National Park is a vast area of tropical lowland forest, swamp forest, savannah and wetland in the far south-east corner of Papua-Indonesia. It is bordered by the sea to the south and PNG to the east. It lies within the Trans-Fly region of New Guinea and both the habitat and birds have much in common with northern Australia only 200 km to the south. The site is very seasonal, with both a pronounced wet and dry season. This park displays a tremendous biodiversity of flora and fauna. One prime example of flowering plants is Orchids species. Most orchids in this park resembles to the Australian plants as it share similar vegetation types of heath forest and savanna woodland. Knowledge of orchid diversity from this park is poorly acknowledged. This preliminary study aims to document species diversity, to map diversity and distribution of orchid species ofDendrobiumsectionSpatulataand the host plants in the national parks. The study is conducted in six sites i.e. Bokem, Sota, Rawa Dongami, Rawa Biru, Wasur village, and Yanggandur. The plants were collected and recorded whenever they are encountered on the host trees. In total 40 orchid plants are collected and identified using bio-molecular techniques combined with morphological characters. 11 species recorded fromDendrobiumsectionSpathulatai.e.Dendrobium canaliculatum, Dendrobium carronii, Dendrobium d’albertisii, Dendrobium devosianum, Dendrobium discolor, Dendrobium ionoglossum, Dendrobium johannis, Dendrobium nindii, Dendrobium semifuscum, Dendrobium sylvanumandDendrobium trilamellatum. Other species fromDendrobiumsectionPhalaenanthesuch asDendrobium bigibum, DendrobiumsectionCalyptrochilusi.e.Dendrobium smilliae dan Dendrobium capituliferum, DendrobiumsectionDendrocorynae, and one species ofPomatocalpa marsupiale. During the field observation, we noticed hunting activity run by vendors and hunters. This activity brings impact to the sustainability of the plants. Vendors are mainly locals who inhabit and land tenure in this park.
