The objective of this project is to develop a numerical approach that simulates the behavior of sloshing water with linear free surface waves on a sloping beach inside a 2D rectangular tank. The current computational approach represents the first stage in the development of a precise modeling framework for wave energy converters (WEC). The 2D tank model was generated using the ANSYS FLUENT program, with the Navier–Stokes equations being discretized on a regular structured grid employing the finite volume method (FVM). The validity of the model has been shown for linear sloshing conditions. Moreover, an examination is conducted to analyze the impact of tank flexibility on the phenomenon of liquid sloshing. The simulation was conducted under seven different wave steepness conditions. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the phenomenon of fluid–structure interaction in the context of movable plates. The investigation of the flow domain encompasses a crucial study on the output power of the plate WEC, specifically focusing on scenarios where plate heights remain constant and the motion of fluid streamlines around the plate is considered. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between drag force and wave steepness. This observation illustrates a positive correlation between wave steepness and drag force. The revolutionary structure of the ocean buildings may provide a novel and exact method for estimating the wave strength. The usefulness of WEC lies in its capacity to interact with water waves and harness renewable energy from the ocean. This study introduces a novel computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methodology that effectively captures the dynamic interaction between a solid object and a two-phase flow. The examination of the impact of wave steepness on the dynamics of a movable thin plate in intermediate water is a fresh and noteworthy subject of inquiry. This study has substantial importance as a valuable resource for the development of practical systems and possesses direct relevance in the design of WEC for the purpose of harnessing oceanic energy. This paper explores the impact of viscosity ratio and surface wettability on immiscible viscous fingering instability within a rectangular channel. Numerical investigations are conducted across a range of viscosity ratios (VR) from 0.0009 to 0.5 and wall wettability (θ) from 15° to 150°. The volume of fluid (VOF) model is employed to track the development of finger-shaped instability at the fluid interface. Our results indicate that higher viscosity ratios lead to increased displacement efficiency. Additionally, we find the formation of necking at low VR, which diminishes at higher VR values. The finger-shaped pattern splits into two parts at a wettability of 15°; beyond this threshold, no such splitting occurs. Furthermore, a transition from hydrophilic to superhydrophobic wettability abolishes necking, resulting in enhanced displacement efficiency. Notably, as wettability shifts from hydrophilic to super hydrophobic, instability shifts toward the left side. Many studies have been reported on the pharmacological effects and extraction methods of lavender essential oil, but little is known about a profiling analysis of terpenoids produced in lavender leaves by ionizing irradiation. Here, we performed the profiling analysis of volatile terpenoids produced by lavender (Lavandula angustifolia L.) leaves in response to gamma irradiation and the anticancer effects of terpenes induced by γ-irradiation. The analyses of volatile terpenoids revealed that lavender leaves biosynthesised 33 species of volatile terpenoids and their relative ratio were significantly changed after exposure to γ-ray. The relative ratio of monoterpene hydrocarbons such as limonene, p-cymene, and camphene (except for δ-3-carene, γ-terpinene, terpinolene, and allo-ocimene) was reduced to less than 60% at 1000 Gy, set to 100% at 0 Gy. On the contrary, the ratio of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons such as α-santalene, (E)-α-bergamotene, and γ-cadinene was up-regulated by more than 1.6-fold at 1000 Gy. Additionally, α-santalene, which was increased the most by γ-irradiation, significantly inhibited the proliferation of the human prostate cancer cell line (PC3) with an IC50 < 12.5 μg mL-1. Our findings indicate that the α-santalene is the most induced terpenoid after exposure to γ-ray in lavender leaves and that it has a pharmacological effect on reducing the cell viability in human prostate cancer cells. We suggest that non-destructive reconstitution of secondary metabolites in target plants (e.g., medicinal plants) can be achieved by using γ-irradiation as a tool. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To compare the effect of Medroxyprogesterone acetate versus Gonadotropin releasing hormone antagonist for the prevention of premature luteinizing hormone (LH) surge in infertile hyper-responder women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation for in vitro fertilization (IVF) /intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles., Methods: One hundred infertile hyper-responder women who were candidate for IVF/ICSI were randomly assigned into two groups. Group 1 was given 20 mg Medroxyprogesterone acetate from day 1 of the menstrual cycle till trigger day. Group 2 was given GnRH antagonist (injection Cetrorelix 0.25 mg s/c) from the day when the leading follicle reached 14 mm until the day of trigger for the prevention of premature LH surge (flexible protocol). We measured LH serum levels on day 1, day 7 of cycle and on trigger day. The primary outcome measured was the incidence of premature LH surge. Other outcome measures were total number of mature follicles on trigger day, total number of mature oocytes retrieved and number of good quality day-3 embryos., Results: There was no premature luteinizing hormone surge in both groups of our study. The mean number of follicles on trigger day, mean number of M2 oocytes retrieved and mean number of good quality day-3 embryos were comparable in both the groups, with no statistically significant difference., Conclusions: The results of this study stated that MPA can be an effective alternative to GnRH antagonist for the prevention of premature LH surge in hyper-responder women undergoing COS for IVF. It is easy to use, widely available and cost-effective. It may establish a new regimen of ovarian stimulation using MPA as an oral alternative to GnRH antagonist treatment in hyper-responders.
