Solar photovoltaic (PV) system generates low power because of nonuniform sun irradiation compared to standard test conditions. Partial shading conditions (PSCs) can arise from various factors, with passing clouds, trees, telecommunication towers, bird droppings, and similar elements being among the most prevalent causes. Under the shading scenario, multiple global and local maxima power points exist on the P–V curves. Herein, the chess game rules for the "Rook" icon are followed to attain the optimal placement of integer numbers (1–9) in the 9 × 9 size game puzzle matrix. The integer number‐based game puzzles such as Su‐Do‐Ku, symmetric matrix, and proposed Rook's movement‐game theory (RMGT) to rearrange the PV modules in arrays are investigated and compared with the standard arrangements such as series‐parallel, total‐cross‐tied during PSCs. The suggested RMGT puzzle‐based arrangement is able to achieve higher power at global maximum power point, performance enhancement, fill factor, and low power loss. As a result, the experimental study proves the superiority of RMGT configuration compared to conventional methodologies under the shading scenarios. The proposed RMGT‐based PV array is tested and obtained the performance higher side as, 63.27ImVm$\left(63.27 I\right)_{m}V_{m}$, 64.17ImVm$\left(64.17 I\right)_{m}V_{m}$, 58.95ImVm$\left(58.95 I\right)_{m}V_{m}$, and 76.77ImVm$76.77I_{m}V_{m}$ compared to existing reconfiguration methodologies. A sustainable energy sector and achieving carbon neutrality in microgrids require a firm commitment to renewable energy resources. A sharp focus on solar energy holds the most promising potential for a low-carbon energy pathway. Efficient and optimal energy management application in the case of such microgrid systems requires the development of an accurate forecasting technique. A significant obstacle in creating such an accurate prediction tool is the intermittent nature of solar energy. To address this challenge, this research proposes a novel threefold hybrid model that integrates empirical mode decomposition (EMD), convolutional neural networks (CNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM) neural networks to forecast solar radiation up to three steps ahead. We do this utilizing two distinct solar radiation datasets obtained from two different sites in Thailand: one at 30-min intervals and the second one at 15-min intervals. To assess the forecasting capabilities of the proposed model, this study has carried out a comprehensive analysis by comparing it to six alternative models considering hybrid and stand-alone options. The proposed model outperformed them all, establishing its supremacy with the lowest mean absolute error (MAE), root-mean-square error (RMSE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), additionally, ensuring that it meets the industry standards for forecasting applications. Solar energy is playing a crucial role in easing the burden of environmental protection and depletion of conventional energy resources. The use of solar energy in urban settings is essential to meet the growing energy demand and achieve sustainable development goals. This research assesses the solar potential of buildings considering shading events and analyzes the impact of urban built forms (UBFs) on incoming solar potential. The primary data for constructing a virtual 3D city model are derived from a UAV survey, utilizing drone deployment software for flight planning and image acquisition. Geospatial modelling was conducted using the MATLAB Mapping Toolbox to simulate solar irradiation on all the building envelopes in the study area in Jamshedpur, India. The empirical investigation quantified annual solar potential for more than 30,000 buildings in the region by considering time-varying shadowing events based on the sun's path. The region's annual solar energy of 310.149 TWh/year is estimated. Integrating UAV-derived datasets with MATLAB introduces a cost-effective and accurate approach, offering to develop 3D city models, assess solar potential, and correlate the impact of urban building forms (UBFs) to incoming solar potential. The power sector has substantial carbon emissions reduction potential that could achieve the new nationally determined contribution target in 2030 by increasing low-carbon technologies, e.g. variable renewable energy sources and electric vehicles (EVs). Therefore, two approaches were suggested in this work. In the first approach, Thailand's power sector was modelled by using PLEXOS software to find the impact of the high penetration of variable renewable energy (RE) and EV charging load for the projected year 2030. The second approach proposed a demand–response and energy storage system solution with carbon pricing in the model to assess the targets. As a result, the electricity demand from charging EVs will cause a new peak demand at night, while the high variable RE penetration will cause curtailment in the power system due to excess supply at noon. Therefore, Thailand's power sector has the potential for carbon emissions reduction by 45% with clean energy technologies, which could increase to 68% with carbon pricing, easily achievable by the nationally determined contribution target in 2030. However, these benefits could only be derived if various entities involved in the energy regulatory, transport and power sectors coordinate to implement the required technological and financial policies. Pico hydropower is a versatile power source providing electricity access for the world's poorest living in isolated locations. Though on a global scale, a significant market for such pico hydro systems exists in many countries, they are not widely used because they are not easily available, and the available head is low. One solution to address these issues comprehensively is using a pump as a turbine. However, in the case of a pump as turbine, studies on the performance of pico hydro systems are generally available only for heads above 10 m. To assess the technical feasibility of pico hydro plant at very low heads (less than 6 m), experimental studies were conducted using a pump as turbine (PaT) with a modified impeller vane coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). A power conditioner provided a stable output voltage of 220 V and a frequency of 50 Hz. The Pico hydro plant was evaluated with a test setup of a storage tank with a facility to have heads less than 6m and flow rates ranging from 6 to 9 liters per second. The results of the experiments at different heads - with and without power conditioner - are presented in tables and graphs, giving the output and efficiency of the different components of the system. Overall, it was demonstrated that this PaT could work at heads ranging from 2 to 4.5 m and at 4.5 m head with a flow rate of 7.5 l/s, the Pico hydro plant could generate a maximum power of 1.48 kW with an efficiency of 42%. The experimental setup was also used to power typical residential loads to demonstrate the effective applicability of this renewable energy resource. This study presents a comprehensive impact analysis of the rotor angle stability of a proposed international connection between the Philippines and Sabah, Malaysia, as part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Power Grid. This study focuses on modeling and evaluating the dynamic performance of the interconnected system, considering the high penetration of renewable sources. Power flow, small signal stability, and transient stability analyses were conducted to assess the ability of the proposed linked power system models to withstand small and large disturbances, utilizing the Power Systems Analysis Toolbox (PSAT) software in MATLAB. All components used in the model are documented in the PSAT library. Currently, there is a lack of publicly available studies regarding the implementation of this specific system. Additionally, the study investigates the behavior of a system with a high penetration of renewable energy sources. Based on the findings, this study concludes that a system is generally stable when interconnection is realized, given its appropriate location and dynamic component parameters. Furthermore, the critical eigenvalues of the system also exhibited improvement as the renewable energy sources were augmented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
