Abstract

Two distinct (4+3)-nitroxy annulations between 1,5-enynes and anthranils have been developed to access tetrahydro-1H-benzo[b]azepine derivatives., Two distinct (4+3)-nitroxy annulations between 1,5-enynes and anthranils have been developed to access tetrahydro-1H-benzo[b]azepine derivatives; the chemoselectivity varies with the types of alkynes. Terminal alkyne substrates deliver benzo[b]azepine derivatives via a novel skeletal rearrangement while internal 1,5-enynes afford products without a rearrangement process. To elucidate the mechanism of rearrangement, we performed 13C- and 2H-labeling experiments to identify the gold-containing isobenzofulvene intermediates, but their formation relies on the presence of anthranils.

Abstract

[Display omitted] • We have activated the hydroxyl group of alcohol with Molybdenum catalyst. • Etherification and thioetherfication selectively. • We have developed cheap and environmentally safe methodology. • Greener Method as it produces water as sole byproducts. • Construction of challenging C O and C S bonds. An inexpensive, easily available, environmentally benign, and efficient catalyst molybdenum(VI) dioxo (acetylacetonate) 2 was used for the direct oxo- and thioetherification of alcohol. This method endures selective molybdenum catalyzed dehydrative synthesis of symmetrical ethers from benzylic secondary alcohols as well as unsymmetrical ethers from the reaction of benzylic secondary alcohols with primary alcohol. Furthermore, we have been also successful in the synthesis of Aryl thioether by using alcohol and thiols. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
