4. Impedance, dielectric susceptibility and inductance in HoxMn1-xS solid solutions.

Abstract

The impedance, capacitance and inductance in HoxMn1-xS solid solutions were measured at fixed frequencies in the range of 1 kHz – 300 kHz from temperature. Maxima in the temperature dependence of the impedance and the reactive part of the impedance and minima in the dielectric permittivity are found. The capacitive contribution to the reactive part of the impedance is established for the concentration x=0.05. Spin-glass effects below the Neel temperature from the inductance are found. The dielectric permittivity in HoxMn1-xS with x=0.1 is described in the Debye model. The activation type of relaxation time and activation energy are established. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Study preregistration has become increasingly popular in psychology, but its effectiveness in restricting potentially biasing researcher degrees of freedom remains unclear. We used an extensive protocol to assess the strictness of preregistrations and the consistency between preregistration and publications of 300 preregistered psychology studies. We found that preregistrations often lack methodological details and that undisclosed deviations from preregistered plans are frequent. Combining the strictness and consistency results highlights that biases due to researcher degrees of freedom are prevalent and likely in many preregistered studies. More comprehensive registration templates typically yielded stricter and hence better preregistrations. We did not find that effectiveness of preregistrations differed over time or between original and replication studies. Furthermore, we found that operationalizations of variables were generally more effectively preregistered than other study parts. Inconsistencies between preregistrations and published studies were mainly encountered for data collection procedures, statistical models, and exclusion criteria. Our results indicate that, to unlock the full potential of preregistration, researchers in psychology should aim to write stricter preregistrations, adhere to these preregistrations more faithfully, and more transparently report any deviations from the preregistrations. This could be facilitated by training and education to improve preregistration skills, as well as the development of more comprehensive templates.

Abstract

The transport and magnetic properties of cation-substituted manganese sulphides CexMn1-ХS in the 4K - 450K temperature range in magnetic fields up to 90 kOe are studied. The hysteresis of curve magnetization for X=0.01 and nonlinear field behavior of the magnetization at X = 0.05, the sharp Curie temperature drop were found. The sharp maximum in the temperature dependence of resistivity was observed. The shift of the maximum temperature to low temperatures at cerium ion concentration increasing and in magnetic field was established. Model of orbital polaron for explanation of experimental datа was used.

Abstract

The transport properties of the TmxMn1–xS (x ≤ 0.15) solid solutions in the temperature range of 200–600 K have been investigated. The temperatures of lattice polaron pinning accompanied by the lattice strain, condensation of the infrared modes, and thermionic emission have been determined. The change of the carrier sign with temperature has been found from the Hall coefficient data and dragging of electrons by phonons, from the thermopower data. The dependence of the magnetoresistance on the concentration, current, and voltage has been established from the I–V characteristics measured without field and in an applied magnetic field of H = 8 kOe in the temperature range of 300–500 K. The functional temperature dependence of the carrier relaxation time has been determined using the impedance data. The concentration region with the magnetoimpedance sign varying with frequency and temperature has been found. The increase in the relaxation time of the induced electric polarization with increasing concentration of thulium ions has been observed. The experimental data have been interpreted in the framework of the Debye and Maxwell–Wagner models, as well as the theoretical model for the Rashba spin–orbit interaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
