There is a continuing effort to support and prepare the precision physics programs for the present and planned future colliders such as HL-LHC, FCC, CLIC, CEPC, and CPPC. For both the FCC-ee and the ILC, to exploit properly the respective precision physics program, the theoretical precision tag on the respective luminosity will need to be improved from the analogs of the $ 0.054 \% (0.061\%)$ results at LEP at $M_Z$, where the former (latter) LEP result has (does not have) the pairs correction. All real and virtual infrared singularities in the standard analysis of the perturbative Quantum Electrodynamics (like that of Yennie-Frautschi-Suura) are associated with photon emissions from the external legs in the scattering process. External particles are stable, with the zero decay width. Such singularities are well understood at any perturbative order and are resummed. The case of production and decay of the semi-stable {\em neutral} particles like $Z$ boson or $\tau$ lepton, with the narrow decay width, $\Gamma/M \ll 1$, is also well understood at any perturbative order and soft photon resummation can be done. For the absent or loose upper cut-off on the total photon energy $\omega$ the production and decay process of the semi-stable (neutral) particles decouples approximately and can be considered quasi-independently. In particular soft photon resummation can be done separately for the production and decay process treating semi-stable (neutral) particle as stable. So far, consistent treatment of the soft photon resummation for semi-stable {\em charged} particles like $W^\pm$ boson is not available in the literature and the aim of this work is to present a solution for this problem. Generally, it should be feasible because the underlying physics is the same as in the case of the neutral semi-stable resonances -- in the limit $\Gamma/M \ll 1$ production and decay processes for charged particles also necessarily decouple due to long lifetime of the particles. Due to the high anticipated experimental precision at the Future Circular Collider FCC-ee (or other proposed $e^+e^-$ colliders, such as ILC, CLIC, or CEPC) for electroweak and Higgs-boson precision measurements, theoretical uncertainties may have, if unattended, an important impact on the interpretation of these measurements within the Standard Model (SM), and thus on constraints on new physics. Current theory uncertainties, which would dominate the total uncertainty, need to be strongly reduced through future advances in the calculation of multi-loop radiative corrections together with improved experimental and theoretical control of the precision of SM input parameters. This document aims to provide an estimate of the required improvement in calculational accuracy in view of the anticipated high precision at the FCC-ee. The Future Circular Collider (FCC) at CERN, a proposed 100-km circular facility with several colliders in succession, culminates with a 100 TeV proton-proton collider. It offers a vast new domain of exploration in particle physics, with orders of magnitude advances in terms of Precision, Sensitivity and Energy. The implementation plan foresees, as a first step, an Electroweak Factory electron-positron collider. This high luminosity facility, operating between 90 and 365 GeV centre-of-mass energy, will study the heavy particles of the Standard Model, Z, W, Higgs, and top with unprecedented accuracy. The Electroweak Factory $e^+e^-$ collider constitutes a real challenge to the theory and to precision calculations, triggering the need for the development of new mathematical methods and software tools. A first workshop in 2018 had focused on the first FCC-ee stage, the Tera-Z, and confronted the theoretical status of precision Standard Model calculations on the Z-boson resonance to the experimental demands. The second workshop in January 2019, which is reported here, extended the scope to the next stages, with the production of W-bosons (FCC-ee-W), the Higgs boson (FCC-ee-H) and top quarks (FCC-ee-tt). In particular, the theoretical precision in the determination of the crucial input parameters, alpha_QED, alpha_QCD, M_W, m_t at the level of FCC-ee requirements is thoroughly discussed. The requirements on Standard Model theory calculations were spelled out, so as to meet the demanding accuracy of the FCC-ee experimental potential. The discussion of innovative methods and tools for multi-loop calculations was deepened. Furthermore, phenomenological analyses beyond the Standard Model were discussed, in particular the effective theory approaches. The expected experimental precision of the rates and asymmetries in the Future Circular Collider with electron positron beams (FCC-ee) in the centre of the mass energy range 88-365GeV considered for construction in CERN, will be better by a factor 5-200. This will be thanks to very high luminosity, factor up to $10^5$ higher than in the past LEP experiments. This poses the extraordinary challenge of improving the precision of the Standard Model predictions by a comparable factor. In particular the perturbative calculations of the trivial QED effects, which have to be removed from the experimental data, are considered to be a major challenge for almost all quantities to be measured at FCC-ee. The task of this paper is to summarize on the "state of the art" in this class of the calculations left from the LEP era and to examine what is to be done to match the precision of the FCC-ee experiments -- what kind of technical advancements are necessary. The above analysis will be done for most important observables of the FCC-ee like the total cross sections near $Z$ and $WW$ threshold, charge asymmetries, the invisible width of $Z$ boson, the spin asymmetry from $\tau$ lepton decay and the luminosity measurement., Comment: Corrected author's name in ref. We present pathways to the required theoretical precision for the luminosity targeted by the FCC-ee precision studies. The current status of the theoretical precision for the Bhabha luminometry is critically reviewed and pathways are outlined to the requirement targeted by the FCC-ee precision studies. Various components of the pertinent error budget are discussed in detail -- starting from the context of the LEP experiments, through their current updates, up to prospects of their improvements for the sake of the FCC-ee. It is argued that with an appropriate upgrade of the Monte Carlo event generator BHLUMI and/or other similar MC programs calculating QED effects in the low angle Bhabha process, the total theoretical error of $0.01\%$ for the FCC-ee luminometry can be reached. A new study of the $Z$ and $s$-channel $\gamma$ exchanges within the angular range of the FCC-ee luminometer using the BHWIDE Monte Carlo was instrumental in obtaining the above result. The future 100-km circular collider FCC at CERN is planned to operate in one of its modes as an electron-positron FCC-ee machine. We give an overview comparing the theoretical status to the experimental demands of one of four foreseen FCC-ee operating stages, Z-boson resonance energy physics, called the FCC-ee Tera-Z stage for short. The FCC-ee Tera-Z will deliver the highest integrated luminosities as well as very small systematic errors for a study of the Standard Model (SM) with unprecedented precision. In fact, the FCC-ee Tera-Z will allow the study of at least one more perturbative order in quantum field theory compared to the LEP/SLC precision. The real problem is that the present precision of theoretical calculations of the various SM observables does not match that of the anticipated experimental measurements. The bottle-necks to overcoming this situation are identified. In particular, the issues of precise QED unfolding and the correct calculation of SM pseudo-observables are critically reviewed. In an Executive Summary, we specify which basic theoretical calculations are needed to meet the strong experimental expectations at the FCC-ee Tera-Z. Several methods, techniques and tools needed for higher-order multi-loop calculations are presented. By inspection of the Z-boson partial and total decay width analyses, it is argued that at the beginning of operation of the FCC-ee Tera-Z, the theory predictions may be tuned to be precise enough not to limit the physics interpretation of the measurements. This statement is based on anticipated progress in analytical and numerical calculations of multi-loop and multi-scale Feynman integrals and on the completion of two-loop electroweak radiative corrections to the SM pseudo-observables this year. This document collects the proceedings of the "Parton Radiation and Fragmentation from LHC to FCC-ee" workshop (http://indico.cern.ch/e/ee\_jets16) held at CERN in Nov. 2016. The writeup reviews the latest theoretical and experimental developments on parton radiation and parton-hadron fragmentation studies --including analyses of LEP, B-factories, and LHC data-- with a focus on the future perspectives reacheable in $e^+e^-$ measurements at the Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee), with multi-ab$^{-1}$ integrated luminosities yielding 10$^{12}$ and 10$^{8}$ jets from Z and W bosons decays as well as 10$^5$ gluon jets from Higgs boson decays. We present numerical tests and predictions of the KrkNLO method for matching of NLO QCD corrections to hard processes with LO parton shower Monte Carlo generators (NLO+PS). This method was described in detail in our previous publications, where it was also compared with other NLO+PS matching approaches (MC@NLO and POWHEG) as well as fixed-order NLO and NNLO calculations. Here we concentrate on presenting some numerical results (cross sections and distributions) for $Z/\gamma^*$ (Drell-Yan) and Higgs-boson production processes at the LHC. The Drell--Yan process is used mainly to validate the KrkNLO implementation in the Herwig 7 program with respect to the previous implementation in Sherpa. We also show predictions for this process with the new, complete, MC-scheme parton distribution functions and compare them with our previously published results. Then, we present the first results of the KrkNLO method for Higgs production in gluon-gluon fusion at the LHC and compare them with MC@NLO and POWHEG predictions from Herwig 7 fixed-order results from HNNLO and a resummed calculation from HqT, as well as with experimental data from the ATLAS collaboration., Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures, version published in EPJC

Next steps in development of the KrkNLO method of implementing NLO QCD corrections to hard processes in parton shower Monte Carlo programs are presented. This new method is a simpler alternative to other well-known approaches, such as MC@NLO and POWHEG. The KrkNLO method owns its simplicity to the use of parton distribution functions (PDFs) in a new, so-called Monte Carlo (MC), factorization scheme which was recently fully defined for the first time. We show that already at the NLO level the DGLAP evolution kernel Pqq starts to depend on the choice of the evolution variable. We give an explicit example of such a variable, namely the maximum of transverse momenta of emitted partons and we identify a class of evolution variables that leave the NLO Pqq kernel unchanged with respect to the known standard MS-bar results. A new method of including the complete NLO QCD corrections to hard processes in the LO parton-shower Monte Carlo (PSMC) is presented. This method, called KrkNLO, requires the use of parton distribution functions in a dedicated Monte Carlo factorization scheme, which is also discussed in this paper. In the future, it may simplify introduction of the NNLO corrections to hard processes and the NLO corrections to PSMC. Details of the method and numerical examples of its practical implementation, as well as comparisons with other calculations, such as MCFM, MC@NLO, POWHEG, for single $Z/\gamma^*$-boson production at the LHC, are presented., Comment: 50 pages, 14 figures. In this note we outline the Monte Carlo project {\tt KrkMC}. The goal of this project is to construct a QCD Parton Shower accurate to NLO level in both coefficient function and splitting function (shower) parts. We discuss in detail one of its aspects --- the evolution kernels. The kernels had to be recalculated in a new regularisation scheme, called NPV. In this scheme all the singularities in the plus component of the integration momenta are regularised by means of principal value prescription. This is in contrast to the standard approach, in which only the spurious axial singularities are regularised by principal value. As a result, the triple poles in the dimensional regularisation parameter $\epsilon$ are replaced by a combination of $\epsilon$-poles and logarithms of geometrical cut-off $\delta$. The resulting exclusive parton densities are more suitable for stochastic applications in four dimensions. We report on the progress in calculating NLO DGLAP splitting functions for $x<1$ using the New Principal Value prescription, which is a modification of the standard Principal Value approach proposed by Curci, Furmanski and Petronzio in 1980. We propose a modified use of the Principal Value prescription for regularizing the infrared singularities in the light-cone axial gauge by applying it to all singularities in the light-cone plus component of integration momentum. The modification is motivated by and applied to the re-calculation of the QCD NLO splitting functions for the purpose of Monte Carlo implementations. Construction of a QCD cascade at the NLO level requires recalculation of the splitting functions in a different manner [1]. We describe the calculation of some of the virtual contributions to the non-singlet splitting function. In order to be compatible with the earlier calculated real contributions [2], the principal value prescription for regularizing the infrared singularities must be used in a new way. We illustrate this new scheme on simple examples. For the calculations we wrote a Mathematica package called Axiloop. The decade-old technique of combining NLO-corrected hard process with LO-level parton shower Monte Carlo is now mature and used in practice of the QCD calculations in the LHC data analysis. The next step, its extension to an NNLO-corrected hard process combined with the NLO-level parton shower Monte Carlo, will require development of the latter component. It does not exist yet in a complete form. In this note we describe recent progress in developing the NLO parton shower for the initial-state hadron beams. The technique of adding NLO corrections in the fully exclusive form (defined in recent years) is now simplified and tested numerically, albeit for a limited set of NLO diagrams in the evolution kernels., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures

The new methodology of adding QCD NLO corrections in the initial state Monte Carlo parton shower (hard process part) is presented using process of the heavy boson production at the LHC as an example. Despite the simplified model of the process, presented numerical results prove that the basic concept of the new methodology works correctly in the numerical environment of the Monte Carlo parton shower event generator. The presented method is an alternative to the well established methods, MC@NLO and POWHEG. The concept of new methodology of adding QCD NLO corrections in the initial state Monte Carlo parton shower (hard process part) is tested numerically using, as an example, the process of the heavy boson production at hadron--hadron colliders such as LHC. In spite of the use of a simplified model of the process, all presented numerical results prove convincingly that the basic concept of the new methodology works correctly in practice, that is in the numerical environment of the Monte Carlo parton shower event generator. The differences with the other well established methods, like MC@NLO and POWHEG, are briefly discussed and future refinements of the implementation of the new method are also outlined., Comment: Acta Physica Polonica in press

The project of constructing a complete NLO-level Parton Shower Monte Carlo for the QCD processes developed in IFJ PAN in Krakow is reviewed. Feynman diagrams with two real partons contributing to the next-to-leading-order singlet gluon-quark DGLAP kernel are analysed. The infra-red singularities of unintegrated distributions are examined numerically. The analytical formulae are also given in some cases. The role of the colour coherence effects is found to be crucial for cancellations of the double- and single-logarithmic infra-red singularities., Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures

We investigate the differences between the NLO evolution kernels in the Curci-Furmanski-Petronzio (CFP) and Monte Carlo (MC) factorization schemes for the non-singlet case. We show the origin of these differences and present them explicitly. Methodology of including QCD NLO corrections in the quark--gluon Monte Carlo shower is outlined. The work concentrates on two issues: (i) constructing leading order (LO) parton shower Monte Carlo from scratch, such that it rigorously extends collinear factorization into the exclusive (fully unintegrated) one which we call the Monte Carlo factorization scheme; (ii) introducing next-to-leading-order (NLO) corrections to the hard process in this new environment. The presented solution is designed to be extended to the full NLO level Monte Carlo, including NLO corrections not only in the hard process but in the whole shower. The issue of the difference between the factorization scheme implemented in the Monte Carlo (MC) solution and the standard MSbar scheme is addressed. Results for the two real parton differential distributions needed for implementing a next-to-leading order (NLO) parton shower Monte Carlo are presented. They are also integrated over the phase space in order to provide solid numerical control of the MC codes and for the discussion of the differences between the standard $\bar{MS}$ factorization and Monte Carlo implementation at the level of inclusive NLO evolution kernels. Presented results cover the class of non-singlet diagrams entering into NLO kernels. Presently available perturbative QCD calculations combining hard process matrix element with the Parton Shower Monte Carlo programs feature hard process matrix element calculated often beyond the leading order (LO), that is including complete next-to-leading-order (NLO), or even next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) corrections, while Parton Shower is only at the leading order (LO). We report here on a work in progress which demonstrate feasibility of constructing Parton Shower Monte Carlo (PSMC) featuring complete NLO corrections to QCD evolution with respect to the logarithm of the factorization scale. This effort presently covers non-singlet subset of Feynman diagrams contributing to the above QCD evolution. It should be stressed that our approach to the NLO QCD evolution is exclusive, that is giving insight into the fully unintegrated phase space. However, at the inclusive level our implementation agrees exactly with the standard inclusive picture of the NLO DGLAP evolution. Our new approach (after including NLO singlet diagrams) provides a complete method of combining the resummed and fixed order perturbative QCD calculations beyond the LO in a form suitable for the MC implementation, an alternative to the existing ones. We are reporting on the ongoing effort of the Monte Carlo (MC) modelling of NLO DGLAP QCD evolution in the fully unintegrated form. The resulting parton shower MC is performing on its own the NLO QCD evolution, contrary to all known programs of this kind which are limited to LO level only. We overview this new MC scheme, for the non-singlet subset of the gluonstrahlung diagrams. We investigate the role of the choice of the upper phase space limit Q in the Curci-Furmanski-Petronzio (CFP) factorization scheme, which exploits dimensional regularization MS scheme. We examine how the choice of Q influences the evaluation of the standard DGLAP (inclusive) evolution kernels, gaining experience needed in the construction of the exclusive Monte Carlo modelling of the NLO DGLAP evolution. In particular, we uncover three types of mechanisms which assure the independence on Q of the inclusive DGLAP kernels calculated in the CFP scheme. The next-to-leading order (NLO) evolution of the parton distribution functions (PDFs) in QCD is a common tool in the lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron collider data analysis. The standard NLO DGLAP evolution is formulated for inclusive (integrated) PDFs and done using inclusive NLO kernels. We report here on the ongoing project, called KRKMC, in which NLO DGLAP evolution is performed for the exclusive multiparton (fully unintegrated) distributions (ePDFs) with the help of the exclusive kernels. These kernels are calculated within the two-parton phase space for the non-singlet evolution, using Curci-Furmanski-Petronzio factorization scheme. The multiparton distribution, with multiple use of the exclusive NLO kernels, is implemented in the Monte Carlo program simulating multi-gluon emission from single quark emitter. High statistics tests ($\sim 10^{10}$ events) show that the new scheme works perfectly well in practice and, at the inclusive (integrated) level, is equivalent with the traditional inclusive NLO DGLAP evolution. The next-to-leading order (NLO) evolution of the parton distribution functions (PDF's) in QCD is the "industry standard" in the lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron collider data analysis. The standard NLO DGLAP evolution is formulated for inclusive (integrated) PDFs and is done using inclusive NLO kernels. We report here on the ongoing project, called KRKMC, in which NLO DGLAP evolution is performed for the exclusive multiparton (fully unintegrated) distributions (ePDF's) with the help of the exclusive kernels. These kernels are calculated within the two-parton phase space for bremsstrahlung subset of the Feynman diagrams of the non-singlet evolution, using Curci-Furmanski-Petronzio factorization scheme. We present the program EvolFMC v.2 that solves the evolution equations in QCD for the parton momentum distributions by means of the Monte Carlo technique based on the Markovian process. The program solves the DGLAP-type evolution as well as modified-DGLAP ones. In both cases the evolution can be performed in the LO or NLO approximation. The quarks are treated as massless. The overall technical precision of the code has been established at 0.05% precision level. This way, for the first time ever, we demonstrate that with the Monte Carlo method one can solve the evolution equations with precision comparable to the other numerical methods., Comment: 38 pages, 9 Postscript figures

We present two Monte Carlo algorithms of the Markovian type which solve the modified QCD evolution equations at the NLO level. The modifications with respect to the standard DGLAP evolution concern the argument of the strong coupling constant alpha_S. We analyze the z - dependent argument and then the k_T - dependent one. The evolution time variable is identified with the rapidity. The two algorithms are tested to the 0.05% precision level. We find that the NLO corrections in the evolution of parton momentum distributions with k_T - dependent coupling constant are of the order of 10 to 20%, and in a small x region even up to 30%, with respect to the LO contributions., Comment: 32 pages, 9 pdf figures

This work covers methodology of solving QCD evolution equation of the parton distribution using Markovian Monte Carlo (MMC) algorithms in a class of models ranging from DGLAP to CCFM. One of the purposes of the above MMCs is to test the other more sophisticated Monte Carlo programs, the so-called Constrained Monte Carlo (CMC) programs, which will be used as a building block in the parton shower MC. This is why the mapping of the evolution variables (eikonal variable and evolution time) into four-momenta is also defined and tested. The evolution time is identified with the rapidity variable of the emitted parton. The presented MMCs are tested independently, with ~0.1% precision, against the non-MC program APCheb especially devised for this purpose., Comment: version compatible with with the erratum in Acta Physica Polonica

We discuss precision Monte Carlo (MC) calculations for solving the QCD evolution equations up to the next-to-leading-order (NLO) level. They employ forward Markovian Monte Carlo algorithms, which provide rigorous solutions of the above equations. These algorithms are implemented in the form of the Monte Carlo program EvolFMC. This program has been cross-checked with independent, non-MC, programs (QCDNum16 and APCheb33) and the numerical agreement at the level of 0.1% has been found., Comment: 12 pages, 2 eps figures

A systematic extension of the Monte Carlo (MC) algorithm, that solves the DGLAP equation, into the so-called the one-loop CCFM evolution is presented. Modifications are related to a z-dependent coupling constant; transverse momentum dependence is added to the x-dependence of the parton distributions. The presented Markovian algorithm for one-loop CCFM evolution is the first step in extending it to other more sophisticated schemes beyond DGLAP. In particular, implementing the complete CCFM will be the next step. The presently implemented one-loop CCFM option will be a useful tool in testing the forthcoming MC solutions. Numerical results of the new MC are confronted with other non-MC numerical solutions. The agreement within the MC statistical error of ~0.1% is found. Also, numerical results for kT-dependent structure functions are presented.
