Deze handleiding “Evidence-based ontwikkelen van business modellen voor het valoriseren van innovatieve sensortechnologie” kunnen studenten tijdens hun stage- of afstudeerproject kunnen gebruiken om onderbouwde business modellen te ontwikkelen. Deze handleiding is ontwikkeld in het kader van het ID3AS-project. De handleiding is geïnspireerd op meerdere afstudeer-onderzoeken aan de Hanzehogeschool Groningen waarin een business model ontwikkeld is voor de toepassing van innovatieve technologie. Het eindproduct was steeds een relevant een business model dat mede gebaseerd is op actuele ondernemersinitiatieven, expertise en inzichten uit de praktijk. In de instructieparagrafen van deze handleiding staat daarom centraal hoe de studenten een projectconsortium kunnen informeren en laten meedenken, adviseren en meebeslissen in alle fasen van business model development. De studenten worden, als eerste doelgroep van deze handleiding, daarom aangesproken in hun rol als business developer voor een projectconsortium. Terwijl dit bedoeld is om de relevantie voor een projectconsortium van het business model te vergroten, hebben de studenten echter ook te maken met eisen van methodologische grondigheid van hun business model. Aan de Hanzehogeschool ontwikkelen veel studenten een business model voor bijvoorbeeld een ID3AS-project als stage- of afstudeeropdracht. Aangezien zij dan aan kwaliteitscriteria uit de methodologie van toegepast praktijkgericht onderzoek moeten voldoen, beschrijven de paragrafen met theoretische uitleg welke theorieën, modellen, methoden, begrippen en criteria relevant zijn per fase van business model development. Deze handleiding beoogt daarom de studenten te leren hoe zij in hun business model ontwikkeling kunnen voldoen aan zowel “relevance and rigour”. De rapportage over het business model moet twee doelgroepen kunnen bedienen: projectconsortia van bedrijven die op zoek zijn naar een kansrijk business model in de praktijk, en docenten en beoordelaars vanuit de Hanzehogeschool die eisen stellen aan het eindproduct, de onderbouwing en rapportage van een business model als produkt waarmee getoetst kan worden of studenten bepaalde competenties bezitten, zoals onderzoekend vermogen, creativiteit en innovativiteit.

Poster presentation at Let’s Gro Groningen, on the opportunity for inner-city production of biogas within a circular restaurant concept at the Boterdiep, Groningen, in collaboration with Mr Maik van Heerd (Progress Events), Mr Geert Greving (Groningen Gist), Mr Ruud Paap (New Energy Coalition), Thomas Hoffman (Hanze student in architecture).

Toekomstige professionals moeten complexe problemen kunnen oplossen. Hoe leren we dit hbo-studenten? Design thinking en ontwerpgericht onderzoek bieden beiden dezelfde logica voor het ontwerpen van onderbouwde oplossingen voor complexe problemen. Ze verschillen in accent, met name in inhoudelijke uitgangspunten en de organisatie van het ontwerpproces. Zowel design thinking als ontwerpgericht onderzoek zijn geschikt voor het oplossen van complexe problemen, zeker als hun sterke punten in opeenvolgende ontwerpcycli worden gecombineerd.

The main goal of this project is to develop business model patterns for the economic viable production of biogas for restaurants and breweries. Actual projects with breweries in Groningen are used to collect data in order to define the characteristics of business model patterns for the production of biogas from organic waste.

Lector Frits Simon schreef eerder over het ‘duivelse dilemma’ van praktijkgericht onderzoek (OI2, 2016) dat zowel algemeen geldende kennis moet opleveren als recht moet doen aan de situationele concreetheid van praktijksituaties. In deze bijdrage laten Christis en Smit zien dat dit dilemma berust op een misverstand over de aard en de verschillende vormen van praktijkgericht onderzoek.

This invention relates to the field of paper coating, more in particular to means and methods for providing paper with at least one layer of pigment using film coating to obtain a well printable surface. Provided is a method for preparing coated paper comprising the steps of: a) providing a pigmented wet coating formulation comprising water, 2-20 parts of a binder and 100 parts of pigment, wherein at least 50% of the binder is highly branched starch (HBS) characterized by a molecular weight of between 0.5*105 and 1*106 Daltons and having a molecular branching degree of at least 6% and which is obtained by treatment of gelatinized starch or starch derivative with a glycogen branching enzyme (EC 2.4.1.18); and wherein at least 70% of the pigment is calcium carbonate; and b) applying the pigmented wet coating formulation to paper by film coating and drying the coated paper.

Background: Major depression is a prevalent mental disorder with a high risk of relapses and recurrences, which are associated with considerable burden for patients and high costs for society. Despite these negative consequences, only few studies have focused on interventions aimed at the prevention of recurrences in primary care patients with depression. Aims of the Study: To assess the cost-effectiveness of a psycho educational prevention program (PEP) aimed at improving the long-term outcome of depression in primary care. Methods: Recruitment took place in the northern part of the Netherlands, patients were referred by general practitioners. In total 267 patients were included in the study and randomly assigned to usual care (UC) or UC with one of three forms of PEP; PEP alone, psychiatric consultation followed by PEP (psychiatrist-enhanced PEP), and cognitive behavioral therapy followed by PEP (CBT-enhanced PEP). Costs and health outcomes were registered at three month intervals during the 36 months follow-up of the study. Primary outcome measure was the proportion of depression-free time. Results: Mean total costs during the 36 months of the study were E 8200 in the UC group, E 9816 in the PEP group, 46 9844 in the psychiatrist-enhanced PEP group, and E: 9254 in the CBT-enhanced PEP group. Costs of productivity losses, hospital admissions, contacts with regional institutions for mental healthcare, and medication use contributed substantially to the total costs in each group. Results of the primary outcome measure were less positive for PEP than for UC, but slightly better in the enhanced PEP groups. If decision-makers are willing to pay up to (sic) 300 for an additional proportion of depression-free time, UC is most likely to be the optimal intervention. For higher willingness to pay, CBT-enhanced PEP seems most efficient. Discussion: The basic PEP intervention was not cost-effective in comparison with UC. The economic impact of productivity losses associated with depression, and the importance of including these costs in economic studies, was illustrated by the findings of this study. Due to the drop-out of patients during the 36 months follow-up period, economic analyses had to account for missing data, which may complicate the interpretation of the results. Although Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) could not be assessed for all the patients, the results of analyses focusing on QALYs supported the overall conclusion that PEP is not cost-effective. Implications for Health Care Provision and Policies: Results indicated that PEP should not be implemented in the Dutch healthcare system. Furthermore, is seems highly unlikely that PEP could be cost-effective in other (comparable) European healthcare systems. Implications for Further Research: The relatively positive economic results for CBT-enhanced PEP imply that UC enriched with CBT (but without PEP) might be cost-effective in preventing relapses in primary care patients with depression. The actual consequences of CBT for relapse prevention will have to be studied in further detail, both from a clinical and economic point of view.
