Among multiple determinants affecting sleep health, there is people socioeconomic status (SES), a multidimensional concept of an individual’s social, economic and ecological position associated to public health inequalities at different levels. No systematic review on the relation between SES and sleep health has been previously conducted in India. Following Prisma protocol, seven articles were selected. Findings revealed that all studies were cross-sectional. The combined number of participants is N=12,746 participants, composed of 81.15% of adults (n=10,343), 10.56% of children (n=1346) and 8.29% of adolescents (n=1057). The smallest sample was N=268 and the larger was N=7017. The socioeconomic determinants the most reported by authors were perceived SES/composite indices, education, income and employment/occupation. The most reported sleep disturbances were obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), insomnia, restless legs syndrome (RLS) and sleep quality. Higher SES (specifically high education and high income) was associated on one hand in adults, with insomnia and a lower risk for OSA; and on the other hand, in adolescents, with poor quality of sleep and shorter sleep duration. Unemployment was significantly associated with insomnia and risk for pediatric OSA (specifically maternal employment). These findings are coherent with the conceptual socioeconomic model of sleep health published by Etindele Sosso et al. and one previous ecological model of sleep published by Grandner et al., both explaining the relationship between SES and sleep disparities. More studies on the subject and more longitudinal research are necessary to support public health programs related to sleep health disparities in India.

OBJECTIVE Cultural adaptation of the tinnitus handicap inventory questionnaire to the Moroccan dialect version. METHOD We conducted a prospective study over a 3 years period (January 2017-January 2020) in the Otolaryngology Department of Casablanca University hospital. Translation was produced by a forward-backward procedure with analysis of the psychometric properties of the Moroccan version of the tinnitus handicap inventory. RESULTS The final Moroccan version of Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) was given to 83 otosclerosis patients suffering from tinnitus. Resume Introduction Le traitement de la leucemie myeloide chronique (LMC) a ete revolutionne par l’avenement des inhibiteurs de tyrosine kinase. Les resultats de l’essai IRIS ont demontre l’efficacite et la tolerance a long terme de l’Imatinib. L’objectif de notre travail etait de rapporter les resultats a 15 ans du traitement de la LMC par l’Imatinib au Maroc. Patients et methodes Etude retrospective realisee au service d’hematologie du CHU d’Ibn-Rochd a Casablanca, du janvier 2003 a septembre 2018, incluant tous les patients LMC en phase chronique traites par Imatinib pendant une duree minimale de 6 mois. Resultats Au total, 318 patients ont ete colliges, la mediane d’âge etait de 41,5 ans avec un sexe-ratio H/F de 0,7. Le score de Sokal etait eleve dans 56 % des cas. La reponse hematologique complete a 3 mois etait de 92 %, la reponse cytogenetique complete a 12 mois et la reponse cytogenetique complete cumulative etaient obtenues dans 43 % (29/67) et 55 % (153/279) des cas respectivement, la reponse moleculaire etait evaluee chez 125 patients dont 85 % etaient en reponse moleculaire majeure. Sur un recul median sous traitement de 44 mois, la survie globale et la survie sans evenement a 10 ans etaient de 86 % et 59 %, respectivement. Discussion Notre profil est caracterise par un âge jeune des patients, la predominance feminine et un score de Sokal eleve. Le taux de reponse cytogenetique complete reste inferieur par rapport a ce qui est decrit ; cependant, les taux de survie ainsi que la tolerance sont semblables a ceux de la litterature.

The treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) has been revolutionized by the advent of tyrosine kinase inhibitors. The results of the IRIS trial demonstrated the efficacy and long-term safety profile of Imatinib. The objective of our work is to report the results at 15 years of treatment of CML in chronic phase with Imatinib in Morocco.Retrospective study realized at the hematology unit of CHU d'Ibn-Rochd in Casablanca, from January 2003 to September 2018, including all CML patients in the chronic phase at diagnosis, were treated with Imatinib for a minimum duration of 6 months.In total, 318 patients were collected, the median age was 41.5 years, the sex ratio M/F was 0.7, the Sokal score was high in 56% of cases. The complete hematological response at 3 months was 92%, the complete cytogenetic response at 12 months and the cumulative response were obtained in 43% (29/67) and 55% (153/279) of the cases respectively, the molecular response was evaluated in 125 patients witch 85% were on major molecular response. On a median follow-up of 44 months, the OS and EFS at 10 years were 86% and 59%, respectively.Our profile is characterized by a young age of the patients, the female predominance and a high Sokal score. The rate of complete cytogenetic response remains lower compared to what is described, however the survival rates as well as the tolerance were similar to those of the literature.

We report the case of a patient with recurrent pterygo-palatal angiofibroma and its treatment. A 21-year-old male patient had a long history of recurrent epistaxis with progressive nasal obstruction. He was diagnosed with an angiofibroma centered in the right pterygo-palatine fossa. Initially, he underwent surgical excision with removal of the entire tumor. The evolution was clinically good with no signs of recurrence on the cervico-facial scan of control (CT). Nine months after, he presented a reappearance of epistaxis. A cervico-facial MRI was performed and showed a recurrence of the tumor process, which this time was considered inextirpable, hence the decision to opt for radiotherapy with intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). He has improved clinically with a clear reduction in tumor mass on CT scan. This technique represents an interesting alternative to overcome anatomical complexity of the region, cover the tumor and preserve the organs at risk.

To measure productivity in scientific publications of teachers of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca (FMPC).This is a descriptive bibliometric study of the publications of the FMPC, indexed in the Medline and Scopus databases, between 2008 and 2017. Articles of physicians affiliated to the FMPC or its university hospital center were included in this study.With 1041 articles, the average scientific productivity of the FMPC was 38 articles / 100 teachers-year. These articles were published in 244 journals of which 18% in Pan African Medical Journal and 67% in French. In 58% of the articles, the type was "case reports". Dermatology and Genetics were the most prolific medical disciplines with 122 and 76 articles respectively. In surgery, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and Gynecology-Obstetrics ranked first, with respectively 75 and 60 articles. The impact factor of the journals that published the articles of the FMPC ranged from 0.05 to 26.56 and was less than two in 84% of the cases. National and international scientific collaboration was 2.6% and 6.4% respectively.The publication at the FMPC was largely unproductive in English-language journals with a high impact factor. Training in scientific medical writing would be a priority for faculty development and institutional visibility of the FMPC.

From a religious point of view, Ramadan fasting (RF) is not mandatory during pregnancy. However, some pregnant women insist to fast. Does this choice affect fetal development?The objective of this general review was to determine the impact of RF on fetal development.The search was conducted via the following databases PubMed, Scopus, Web of Sciences and Google Scholar from January 1st 2009 to December 31th 2018, using the following query: (« Ramadan « OR « Ramadan month « OR « fasting «) AND (« fetal development « OR « fetal growth « OR « fetal programming «) AND (pregnanc* OR gestat* OR pregnant wom*n). Articles published in English or French were included, and comparative studies on the impact of RF on fetal development in the group of pregnant women who fasted and the group who did not fast, regardless of the stage of gestation.Ten studies met the research criteria and all were case-control ones. Six studies were conducted in Turkey, two in Egypt, one in Iran and one in Pakistan. The RF coincided with the summer period in 8 studies. An obstetrical ultrasound with Doppler was performed on 1390 pregnant women at the beginning and end of Ramadan. Significant decreases in cephalic perimeter, biparietal diameter and femoral length were noted in a single study. A change in the amniotic fluid index was observed in two studies.The RF practiced by healthy pregnant women has no negative impact on fetal development.
