Coagulation disorders are increasingly recognized as significant complications in patients with solid tumors, affecting morbidity and mortality outcomes. Solid tumors can provoke a hypercoagulable state through the release of pro-coagulant factors, endothelial activation, and inflammation, leading to a heightened risk of coagulation disorders. These coagulation disorders may manifest as venous thromboembolism, arterial thromboembolism, thrombotic microangiopathy, or disseminated intravascular coagulation. These disorders can complicate surgical interventions and impact treatments, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy efficacy, leading to poor outcomes. Understanding the implications of coagulation disorders in solid tumors is essential for optimizing patient management, including identifying high-risk patients, implementing prophylactic measures, elucidating biomarkers for clinical outcomes, and exploring novel therapeutic agents. The solid granules medium sheet metal forming process uses loose particles instead of a rigid convex mold in the deep drawing process. This study focused on a mixed medium of solid granules with added graphite powder , establishing numerical models for four different proportions of graphite powder-solid granules mixtures. A finite element simulation of deep drawing was conducted using 08AL sheets. A deep drawing test shows that the thickness distribution curve closely aligns with the numerical simulation. By adding graphite powder to the solid granules medium, the lubrication conditions between the granules and the sheet metal can be modified, increasing the thickness in the fracture-prone areas of the cylindrical part. Utilizing this numerical model yields thickness distribution and deformation characteristics that closely resemble those observed in deep drawing tests, thereby contributing significantly to the optimization and advancement of this forming technology. Thermodynamic property data for solid argon have been analysed to construct a new fundamental equation of state (EOS) based on the Helmholtz energy. This approach is based on methodologies previously applied to solid CO2 and benzene (Trusler in J Phys Chem Ref Data 40:043105, 2011; Xiao et al. in J Phys Chem Ref Data 50:043104, 2021). The EOS is capable of predicting thermodynamic properties of solid argon up to 760 K and 6300 MPa, using temperature and cell volume as independent variables. The model incorporates the quasi-harmonic approximation with a Debye oscillator framework for vibrons, along with an anharmonic term to address deviations near the triple point. In addition to literature data, the model was regressed to new measurements of argon's solid cell volume conducted from (8 to 50) K using a high-intensity neutron diffractometer, the results of which are reported here. This new EOS achieves a high degree of accuracy in representing experimental data, with uncertainties (k = 1) estimated of 0.1 %, 0.5 %, and 0.5 % for the cell volume along the sublimation curve, along the melting curve, and in the compressed solid phase, respectively; 2 % to 10 % for the heat capacity along the sublimation curve in different temperature regions; 1 % to 10 % for the thermal expansivity on the sublimation curve; 2 % for the isothermal bulk modulus, 1 % for the isentropic bulk modulus, 0.2 % for the enthalpy of sublimation, 0.5 % to 2 % for the enthalpy of melting, 1 % for the sublimation pressure (T > 50 K), and 2 % to 5 % for melting pressure. The development of fluorescence-based methods for bioassays and medical diagnostics requires the design and synthesis of specific markers to target biological microobjects. However, biomolecular recognition in real cellular systems is not always as selective as desired. A new concept for creating fluorescent biomolecular probes, utilizing a fluorogenic dye and biodegradable, biocompatible nanomaterials, is demonstrated. The synthesis of a new dicationic asymmetric monomethine cyanine dye with benzo[d]thiazolium-N-propionamide and chloroquinoline end groups is presented. The photophysical properties of the newly synthesized dye were examined through the combined application of spectroscopic and theoretical methods. The applicability of the dye as a fluorogenic nucleic acid probe was proven by UV-VIS spectroscopy and fluorescence titration. The dye–nucleic acid interaction mode was investigated by UV-Vis and CD spectroscopy. The newly synthesized dicationic dye, like other similar fluorogenic structures, limited permeability, which restricts its use as a probe for RNA and DNA. To enhance cellular delivery, we utilized a patented technology that employs solid, insoluble lipid nanoparticles. This method ensures the complete introduction of the dye into cells while minimizing activity outside the cells. In our study involving two human cell lines, we observed improved penetration through the cell membrane and distinctive selectivity in visualizing nucleic acids within the cytoplasm and nucleus. As part of our research for microcontroller software support, we have developed a modular framework that utilizes previously unimplemented architectural principles for developing applications on microcontrollers. These principles are still a privilege of enterprise and server applications. The paper describes the benefits of a new architectural approach to developing applications on microcontrollers and describes the most common application scenarios along with examples of IoT application development using a framework with design pattern architecture and SOLID principles. As a result, our framework supports developers in creating robust, adaptive, and scalable applications. It emphasizes a modular and clean design that increases development efficiency and enables easy deployment of new features or integration of new technologies, such as new types of sensors, upgraded development boards, or improved development tools and frameworks. General objective of the study was to investigate issues relating to utilization of colour-coded bins for management of household solid wasted in Obio Akpor Local Government Area Rivers State. Specifically, the study determined: level of awareness of use of color-coded bins in HSW among households in area of study; level of utilization of colour-coded bins by the households; perceived benefits of use of colour-coded bins among the households; challenges households face in the use of color-coded bins and ways of enhancing the use of colour-coded bins by the households. This study employed survey research design. Population was made up of households in Obio/Akpor LGA. Data was collected with questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, frequency, percentages and standard deviation. Results of the study showshow awareness levels for five indicators range from 71.92 to 17.85 percent; two colours of bins that are always used are blue (91.86%) and green for organic waste (80.5%); nine benefits of use of coloured bins (X̅=3.02 -2.53); 10 challenges (X̅=3.23 -2.53) household face in the use of the bins; and nine ways of enhancing utilization (X̅=3.27 -2.79). based on the findings three recommendations were made. The Solid project aims to empower people with control over their own data through the separation of data, identity, and applications. The goal is an environment with clear interoperability between all servers and clients that adhere to the specification. Solid is a standards-driven way to extend the Linked Data vision from public to private data, and everything in between. Multiple implementations of the Solid Protocol exist, but due to the evolving nature of the ecosystem, there is a strong need for an implementation that enables qualitative and quantitative research into new features and allows developers to quickly set up varying development environments. To meet these demands, we created the Community Solid Server, a modular server that can be configured to suit the needs of researchers and developers. In this article, we provide an overview of the server architecture and how it is positioned within the Solid ecosystem. The server supports many orthogonal feature combinations on axes such as authorization, authentication, and data storage. The Community Solid Server comes with several predefined configurations that allow researchers and developers to quickly set up servers with different content and backends, and can easily be modified to change many of its features. In this article, we introduced the idea of lacunary weak convergence of sequences defined by the class of Orlicz function. Various topological and algebraic properties, such as solidity, symmetry, and monotonicity, have been studied. In ultrasonic nondestructive testing (NDT), accurately estimating the time of flight (TOF) of ultrasonic waves is crucial. Traditionally, TOF estimation involves the signal processing of a single measured waveform. In recent years, deep learning has also been applied to estimate the TOF; however, these methods typically process only single waveforms. In contrast, this study acquired fan-beam ultrasonic waveform profile data from 64 paths using an ultrasonic-speed computed tomography (CT) simulation of a circular column and developed a TOF estimation model using two-dimensional convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based on these data. We compared the accuracy of the TOF estimation between the proposed method and two traditional signal processing methods. Additionally, we reconstructed ultrasonic-speed CT images using the estimated TOF and evaluated the generated CT images. The results showed that the proposed method could estimate the longitudinal TOF more accurately than traditional methods, and the evaluation scores for the reconstructed images were high. The conventional building drainage system was constructed based on the theory of two-phase flow involving water and air. However, the drainage system contained a more intricate three-phase flow, encompassing water, air, and solids, which was relatively overlooked in research. This study addressed the impact of solids on pressure fluctuations, air flow rates, and hydraulic jump fullness within the drainage system, considering three factors: the mass factor, cross-section factor, and viscosity. The investigation was conducted within a single-stack system using both experimental methods and CFD simulations. The findings revealed a positive correlation between both positive and negative pressures and above three factors. The mass factor and the cross-section factor had a more significant impact on the negative pressure of the system. The maximum growth rates of negative pressure extremes under different mass and cross-section factors reached 7.72 and 16.52%, respectively. In contrast, the viscosity of fecal sludge had a slightly higher effect on the positive pressure fluctuation of the drainage system, with the maximum growth rate of positive pressure extremes at 3.41%. This article focuses on the area of software development for microcontrollers and details the implementation of modern programming practices and principles in embedded systems and IoT applications. This article explains how we implemented previously unimplemented principles and applied design patterns for quality software design on microcontrollers, which are currently only used for developing applications on the higher layers of the IoT reference model. A custom modular framework for microcontrollers is presented, based on applying SOLID principles and adapting design patterns specific to the microcontrollers' application development needs. The implemented framework enables independent communication between modules and flexible integration of hardware components. It is designed with platform independence in mind, contributing to its wide adaptability and ease of use in diverse development environments. By applying these technological approaches, we can create applications that are not only testable and extensible in terms of application logic but also allow for easy adaptation to changes in these hardware resources. Utilizing these capabilities represents an innovative approach to development for microcontrollers that fundamentally improves the long-term sustainability and scalability of applications. Introduction: Although histological subtype in lung adenocarcinoma has been reported as a poor prognostic factor in several studies, its utility has not yet been revealed as an adaptation criterion of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Methods: Four hundred ninety-four lung adenocarcinoma patients were enrolled in this retrospective study. A subanalysis was performed in 420 lung adenocarcinoma patients with pathological stage 0–I disease for risk factors of postoperative recurrence. Results: Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) (p < 0.01), pathological stage ≥II (p < 0.04), and adjuvant chemotherapy (p < 0.01) were risk factors for recurrence in the multivariate analysis, whereas histological subtype was not a significant factor for recurrence at all stages. In the subanalysis, univariate analysis showed that carcinoembryonic antigen expression (p < 0.01), prognostic nutrition index (p = 0.03), SUVmax (p < 0.01), lymphatic invasion (p < 0.01), vascular invasion (p < 0.01), grade 3–4 differentiation (p < 0.01), pathological stage ≥IA3 (p < 0.01), and histological subtype (p = 0.03) were significant risk factors of recurrence. SUVmax (p < 0.01) was the only risk factor for recurrence in the multivariate analysis, whereas histological subtype was not (p = 0.07). Relapse-free survival (RFS) was significantly worse in the micropapillary- and solid-predominant subtype groups than in the other subtypes (p = 0.01). On the other hand, RFS with or without uracil-tegafur as adjuvant chemotherapy in lung micropapillary- or solid-predominant adenocarcinoma patients with pathological stage IA-IB disease was not significantly different. Conclusion: This study suggested that histological subtypes, such as micropapillary- or solid-predominant pattern, are risk factors for recurrence in pathological stage 0-I lung adenocarcinoma and may be necessary adjuvant chemotherapy instead of uracil-tegafur. Abstract Background Identification of micropapillary and solid subtypes components in small-sized (≤ 2 cm) lung adenocarcinoma plays a crucial role in determining optimal surgical procedures. This study aims to propose a straightforward prediction method utilizing preoperative available indicators. Methods From January 2019 to July 2022, 341 consecutive patients with small-sized lung adenocarcinoma who underwent curative resection in thoracic surgery department of Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups based on whether solid or micropapillary components ≥ 5% or not (S/MP5+ and S/MP5-). Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were utilized to identify independent predictors of S/MP5+. Then a nomogram was constructed to intuitively show the results. Finally, the calibration curve with a 1000 bootstrap resampling and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were depicted to evaluate its performance. Results According to postoperative pathological results, 79 (23.2%) patients were confirmed as S/MP5+ while 262 (76.8%) patients were S/MP5-. A simple microsegregation model for steel considering MnS formation in the liquid and solid phases is proposed. The concentration of the solutes during the solidification is calculated using the discretized Scheil-Gulliver model for steel (SGS). In the calculation, the planar dendrite is divided into a finite number (n) of elements to record the local solid concentrations and calculate the mass fraction of MnS precipitation during further cooling. The solidification part of the model is validated by measured solidification temperatures and the MnS formation amount predicted by the FactSage thermochemical software. The model was applied to evaluate the high-temperature ductility of the selected steel. The optimum Mn content of the assumed steel was obtained based on the simulation.

Porosity and permeability are related properties of solids that are investigated by different continuum models. Porosity has already been explained by the author as the variation of the strain energy density of a dry solid using the rheological-dynamical analogy (RDA). Permeability is traditionally, theoretically and experimentally, investigated by Darcy's law and as such depends on the properties of the fluid, water or gas flowing through the solid. This means that we do not have a defined permeability of solid matter, which is independent of the properties of water or gas. In this paper, intrinsic permeability is defined based on the rheological dynamics theory (RDT) in the state of critical damping. Furthermore, RDT defines the liquid flow criterion by the porosity threshold of the solid. Permeability defined in this way is confirmed by experimental data from the literature on the example of engineered permeable concrete.

This article focuses on the potential of void as a design instrument on different levels. The goal is to present a conscious void design strategy with void as the driving design element. To achieve this, void as a term and design technique was broadly analyzed. Reaching from its definition, interpretation, perception, and typology to a case study analysis, the focuses is on four projects each from Ungers and Koolhaas. Three topics were synthesized from this analysis concerning the manifestation of the void, its characteristics, and finally its usage as a design strategy. First, it was identified that void can be perceived and interpreted differently, manifesting itself in various ways, such as a one-, two-, or three-dimensional object. Second, the characteristics of void can be termed as programmatic flexibility and incompleteness: the possibility of void to contain multiple programs and to establish relationships with its program to its surroundings. Third, two design strategies were derived: “collaging solid figures” and “collaging void figures.” The first generates void indirectly by collaging solids, whereby the void is generated in between, and the latter generates void directly by collaging the void itself.

Objective. The purpose of the study is to experimentally measure the surface energy of solids during their grinding.Method. The study is based on the use of methods for determining the surface tension of solids. At least 20-25% of all electricity produced in the world is spent on grinding materials in industry. When the resulting particles are reduced to tens of nanometers, the contribution of surface energy (st) to the grinding work becomes so large that it is difficult not to take it into account. Measuring the surface tension of liquids has long been proven. But measuring (st) of solids causes great difficulties. Currently, more than twenty methods for determining (st) are known.Result. Based on the phenomenon of spontaneous bending of thin thread-like structures, a method for determining (st) has been developed. Examples are given in which (st) at the phase interface plays an important role in obtaining samples with a microstructure using the method of severe plastic deformation (SPD). To obtain fine metal powders, one of the variants of the SPD method has been proposed. A method has been found for the physical activation of aluminum granules, which increases the reaction rate of the metal in an aqueous environment by about a thousand times. This is necessary for the development of an anaerobic power plant capable of operating at great depths.Conclusion. The new technology makes it possible to obtain high-purity, non-oxidized metal powders without toxic waste and emissions and with energy costs lower than in all known methods.

In many industries, multiple parties collaborate on a larger project. At the same time, each of those stakeholders participates in multiple independent projects simultaneously. A double patchwork can thus be identified, with a many-to-many relationship between actors and collaborative projects. One key example is the construction industry, where every project is unique, involving specialists for many subdomains, ranging from the architectural design over technical installations to geospatial information, governmental regulation and sometimes even historical research. A digital representation of this process and its outcomes requires semantic interoperability between these subdomains, which however often work with heterogeneous and unstructured data. In this paper we propose to address this double patchwork via a decentralized ecosystem for multi-stakeholder, multi-industry collaborations dealing with heterogeneous information snippets. At its core, this ecosystem, called ConSolid, builds upon the Solid specifications for Web decentralization, but extends these both on a (meta)data pattern level and on microservice level. To increase the robustness of data allocation and filtering, we identify the need to go beyond Solid's current LDP-inspired interfaces to a Solid Pod and introduce the concept of metadata-generated 'virtual views', to be generated using an access-controlled SPARQL interface to a Pod. A recursive, scalable way to discover multi-vault aggregations is proposed, along with data patterns for connecting and aligning heterogeneous (RDF and non-RDF) resources across vaults in a mediatype-agnostic fashion. We demonstrate the use and benefits of the ecosystem using minimal running examples, concluding with the setup of an example use case from the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO) industry. To evaluate the outcomes of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) for solid and cystic renal tumors. We systematically searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus databases up to March 2023. Review Manager 5.4 performed a pooled analysis of the data for random effects. Besides, sensitivity and subgroup analyses to explore heterogeneity, Newcastle-Ottawa scale, and GRADE to evaluate study quality and level of evidence. Five observational studies comprising 1353 patients (Cystic tumor: 183; Solid tumor: 1083) were included in this study. Compared to solid masses, cystic masses were associated with fewer major complications (odds ratio [OR] = 2.2; 95% confidence intervals [CI] = 1.17 to 4.13; p = 0.01). Additionally, no significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of operative time, warm ischemia time, blood loss, hospital stay, intraoperative complications, postoperative complications, transfusion rate, postoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), eGFR preservation, positive surgical margin (PSM), recurrence, overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), recurrence-free survival (RFS) and trifecta achievement. RAPN can be performed in cystic renal tumors with perioperative, functional, and oncologic outcomes like those achievable in solid tumors. Near total reflection regime has been widely used in x-ray science, specifically in grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering and in hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In this work, we introduce some practical aspects of using near total reflection (NTR) in ambient pressure XPS and apply this technique to study chemical concentration gradients in a substrate/photoresist system. Experimental data are accompanied by x-ray optical and photoemission simulations to quantitatively probe the photoresist and the interface with the depth accuracy of ∼1 nm. Together, our calculations and experiments confirm that NTR XPS is a suitable method to extract information from buried interfaces with highest depth-resolution, which can help address open research questions regarding our understanding of concentration profiles, electrical gradients, and charge transfer phenomena at such interfaces. The presented methodology is especially attractive for solid/liquid interface studies, since it provides all the strengths of a Bragg-reflection standing-wave spectroscopy without the need of an artificial multilayer mirror serving as a standing wave generator, thus dramatically simplifying the sample synthesis.
