Abstract

A design study of flashlamp-pumped Ti:sapphire, aimed at realizing high-average-power laser operation, is reported. The flashlamp-pumped Ti:sapphire laser was realized emitting average power of 220 W at 2.25% effeciency. A single-pass small-signal gain of 3.1 and total stored energy in the laser rod of 690 mJ at 100-Hz repetition rate was shown.
