We consider the problem of optimally maintaining an offshore wind farm in which major components progressively degrade over time due to normal usage and exposure to a randomly varying environment. The turbines exhibit both economic and stochastic dependence due to shared maintenance setup costs and their common environment. Our aim is to identify optimal replacement policies that minimize the expected total discounted setup, replacement, and lost power production costs over an infinite horizon. The problem is formulated using a Markov decision process (MDP) model from which we establish monotonicity of the cost function jointly in the degradation level and environment state and characterize the structure of the optimal replacement policy. For the special case of a two-turbine farm, we prove that the replacement threshold of one turbine depends not only on its own state of degradation but also on the state of degradation of the other turbine in the farm. This result yields a complete characterization of the replacement policy of both turbines by a monotone curve. The policies characterized herein can be used to optimally prescribe timely replacements of major components and suggest when it is most beneficial to share costly maintenance resources. Studying the edge states of a topological system and extracting their topological properties is of great importance in understanding and characterizing these systems. In this paper, we present a novel analytical approach for obtaining explicit expressions for the edge states in the Kane-Mele model within a ribbon geometry featuring armchair boundaries. Our approach involves a mapping procedure that transforms the system into an extended Su–Schrieffer–Heeger model, specifically a two-leg ladder, in momentum space. Through rigorous derivation, we determine various analytical properties of the edge states, including their wave functions and energy dispersion. Additionally, we investigate the condition for topological transition by solely analyzing the edge states, and we elucidate the underlying reasons for the violation of the bulk-edge correspondence in relatively narrow ribbons. Our findings shed light on the unique characteristics of the edge states in the quantum spin Hall phase of the Kane–Mele model and provide valuable insights into the topological properties of such systems. In this article, we present a main memory system for improving the lifetime and security of phase-change main memories. Storing encrypted data increases the bit-flip rates in memory cells, which adversely affects the lifetime of the phase-change memory cells. Thus, to improve the lifetime and security, the proposed system reduces the bit-flip rates by introducing two techniques. The first technique is a memory-side encryption which provides security against DIMM stealing attacks. To prevent unauthorized accesses, in this technique, the encrypted data are not saved in the main memory. As the second technique, we suggest an adaptive partial encryption approach, which makes use of behavior tracking of the application in the CPU side to minimize the latency overhead of the first technique. Additionally, it prevents the loss of data against application-based attacks. This technique uses a recurrent neural network (RNN) to do sequence classification and detect malicious applications. In addition, an auxiliary method, called periodic encryption (PE), which overcomes the security loss in some applications induced by the low accuracy of the employed neural network, is presented. The efficacy of the proposed method is evaluated using gem5 simulator and some benchmarks. Compared to DEUCE and Crypto-Comp methods, the results for the lifetime evaluation show an average bit-flip rate reduction of 11%. Ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) over orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) signals has recently been proposed as an appealing technique for low power Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications. The special spectrum structure of OFDM signals provides a range of flexibility in terms of bit-error-rate (BER) performance, data rate, and power consumption. In this paper, we study subcarrier-wise backscatter communication over ambient OFDM signals. This new AmBC is to exploit the special spectrum structure of OFDM to transmit data over its squeezed orthogonal subcarriers. We propose a basis transmission scheme, and its two modifications to support a higher data rate with superior BER performance compared to existing methods. The basis scheme can transmit one bit per subcarrier using on-off keying (OOK) modulation in the frequency domain. In the first modification, interleaved subcarrier block transmission model is employed to improve the BER performance of the system in frequency-selective channels. It results in a trade-off between the size of the blocks, and data rate. Thus, in the second modification, interleaved index modulation (IM) is employed to mitigate the data rate decrementation of the former modification. It also stabilizes, and controls the power of the signal to result in interference reduction for a legacy receiver. This paper studies the optical wiretap channel with input-dependent Gaussian noise, in which the main distortion is caused by an additive Gaussian noise whose variance depends on the current signal strength. Subject to nonnegativity and peak-intensity constraints on the channel input, we first present a practical optical wireless communication scenario for which the considered wiretap channel is stochastically degraded. We then study the secrecy-capacity-achieving input distribution of this wiretap channel and prove it to be discrete with a finite number of mass points, one of them located at the origin. Moreover, we show that the entire rate-equivocation region of this wiretap channel is also obtained by discrete input distributions with a finite support. Similar to the case of the Gaussian wiretap channel under a peak-power constraint, here too, we observe that under nonnegativity and peak-intensity constraints, there is a tradeoff between the secrecy capacity and the capacity in the sense that both may not be achieved simultaneously. Furthermore, we prove the optimality of discrete input distributions in the presence of an additional average intensity constraint. Finally, we shed light on the asymptotic behavior of the secrecy capacity in the low- and high-intensity regimes. In the low-intensity regime, the secrecy capacity scales quadratically with the peak-intensity constraint. The emergent integrability in a many-body localized (MBL) system can be well characterized by the existence of the complete set of local integrals of motion (LIOMs). Such exactly conserved and exponentially localized operators are often understood as quasiparticle operators which can be expanded in terms of single-particle operators dressed with different numbers of particle-hole pairs. Here, we consider a one-dimensional XXZ spin- 1 2 Heisenberg chain in the presence of a random field and try to quantify the corrections needed to be considered in the picture of quasiparticles associated with LIOMs due to the presence of particle-hole excitations. To this end, we explicitly present the multibody expansion of LIOM creation operators of the system in the MBL regime. We analytically obtain the coefficients of this expansion and discuss the effect of higher-order corrections associated with different numbers of particle-hole excitations. Our analysis shows that depending on the localization length of the system, there exist a regime in which the contributions that come from higher-order terms can break down the effective one-particle description of the LIOMs and such quasiparticles become essentially many-body-like. In this work the Hawking-Unruh effect on the quantum entanglement of bosonic field in background of a spherically symmetric black hole of Gauss-Bonnet gravity is investigated beyond the single mode approximation. The entanglement decreases due to Hawking-Unruh effect. However, it has been shown that the dimensions of space time, Gauss-Bonnet term and the parameter β of initial entangled state would be influenced on this degradation. In our investigation, we consider the accelerated observer either near or far from the event horizon and inspect entanglement degradation for them. The mutual information of this bosonic system is also calculated in beyond the single mode approximation and we show that the mutual information will have different behavior when the Hawking temperature increases. The entanglement generation in a two-qubit system interacting with electromagnetic vacuum field and an external local magnetic field is investigated in the framework of the master equation. The time-evolution for the most general density matrix of the two-qubit system is obtained and solved. Though being 30 years old, coopetition, is still earning popularity and represents a fresh, beneficial, but paradoxical approach to inter-organizational relations. The increasing interest is gradually filling the pool of coopetition knowledge with new and interesting qualitative findings and quantitative results. Nonetheless, if we search in this pool of empirical evidence, we will not find many theoretical works, especially those devoted to definitions, conceptualization, typology, or recognition of the foundations of coopetition phenomenon. Our reviewing paper taps into these cognitive gaps using the interpretative and descriptive revision of the theoretical underpinnings of coopetition concept. Our literature review reveals 10 main reference theories with the dominant relevance of three ones, namely game theory, resource-based view, and network approach. Identification of the theoretical lenses allowed us to develop two categorizations of theoretical rooting of coopetition. One is based on the approach to reasoning the adoption of coopetition strategy (i.e., economic, organizational, and inter-organizational) and the second considering the function of coopetition theory development (i.e., preparing, encouraging, and managing). Finally, by integrating these categorizations, reinforced by the process view to coopetition phenomenon, this paper offers a comprehensive configuration of theoretical lenses pointing at three sets of theories—construction, development, and maintenance theories—useful when improving coopetition across its life cycle. Abstract: By using the path-integral formalism, electromagnetic field in the presence of some linear, isotropic magnetodielectric slabs is quantized and related correlation functions are found. In the framework of path-integral techniques, Casimir force between two infinitely large, parallel and ideal conductors, with a different number of magnetodielectric slabs in between, is obtained by calculating the Green’s function corresponding to each geometry. • A theoretical description of the physics of interference mechanism for two nearby vacancy defects in a zPNR is presented. • The analytical expression for the wave function associated with two nearby vacancies in phosphorene is introduced. • An interesting realization of a two-level quantum system in the material is proposed. • A new way to tune the electronic transport properties of zPNR in practice is suggested. Double-level quantum systems are good candidates for revealing coherent quantum transport properties. Here, we consider quantum interference effects due to the formation of a two-level system (TLS) coupled to the edge channel of a zigzag Phosphorene nanoribbon (ZPNR). Using the tight-binding approach, we first demonstrate the formation of a TLS in bulk Phosphorene sheet due to the existence of two nearby vacancy impurities. Then, we show that such a TLS can couple to the quasi-one-dimensional continuum of the edge states in a ZPNR which results in the appearance of two-dip Fano-type line shapes. To this end, we generalize the Lippmann–Schwinger approach to study the scattering of edge electrons in a ZPNR by two coupled impurity defects. We obtain an analytical expression of the transmission coefficient which shows that the positions and widths of the antiresonances can be controlled by changing the intervacancy distance as well as their distance from the edge of the ribbon. Electromagnetic field quantization, in the presence of two semi-infinite dielectrics with moving interface, is investigated in 1 + 1-dimensional space-time. The moving interface is modelled for small displacements and the field equation is solved perturbatively. Armchair phosphorene nanoribbons (APNRs) are known to be semiconductors with an indirect bandgap. Here, we propose to introduce new states in the gap of APNRs by creating a periodic structure of vacancies (antidots). Based on the tight-binding model, we show that a periodic array of vacancies or nanopores leads to the formation of an impurity band inside the gap region. We first present an analytical expression for the dispersion relation of an impurity band induced by hybridization of bound states associated with each single vacancy defect. Then, we increase the size of vacancy defects to include a bunch of atoms and theoretically investigate the effect of nanopores size and their spacing on electronic band structure, carrier transmission function, and thermoelectric properties. Our analysis of the power generation rate and thermoelectric efficiency of these structures reveals that an ANPR can be used as a superb thermoelectric power generation module. The present study aims to investigate the strategic sense-making effect as a sustainable advantage for improving value creation in SMEs. This research is descriptive and uses the survey method. To collect the data, it was used field and data documentation. For data analysis, the Pearson torque correlation coefficient statistical tests and multivariate linear regression analysis were used simultaneously, and the secondary structural equation model was also used.
