Utilizing data from the $Solar$ $Magnetism$ and $Activity$ $Telescope$ (SMAT), analytical solutions of polarized radiative transfer equations, and in-orbit test data from the Full-disk Magnetograph (FMG) onboard the Advanced Space based Solar Observatory (ASO-S), this study reveals the magnetic-sensitivity spectral positions for the Fe {\sc i} $\lambda$5234.19 A, working line used by FMG. From the experimental data of SMAT, it is found that the most sensitivity position is located at the line center for linear polarization (Stokes-Q/U), while it is about -0.07 A away from the line center for circular polarization (Stokes-V). Moreover, both the theoretical analysis and the in-orbit test data analysis of FMG prove again the above results. Additionally, the theoretical analysis suggests the presence of distinct spectral pockets (centered at 0.08-0.15 A) from the line, harboring intense magnetic sensitivity across all three Stokes parameters. Striking a balance between high sensitivity for both linear and circular polarization while capturing additional valuable information, a spectral position of -0.08 A emerges as the champion for routine FMG magnetic-field observations., Comment: 12pages,8figures

The Full-disk magnetograph is a main scientific payload onboard the Advanced Space based Solar Observatory (ASO-S/FMG) that through Stokes parameter observation to measures the vector magnetic field. The accuracy of magnetic-field values is an important aspect of checking the quality of the FMG magnetic-field measurement. According to the design of the FMG, the linear calibration method under the weak-field approximation is the preferred scheme for magnetic-field calibration. However, the spacecraft orbital velocity can affect the position of observed spectral lines, then result in a change of the polarization-signal strength. Thus, the magnetic field is modulated by the orbit velocity of the spacecraft. In this article, through cross calibration between FMG and HMI (Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager onboard the Solar Dynamic Observatory), the effects of spacecraft orbital velocity on the coefficient of magnetic-field calibration are investigated. By comparing the magnetic field of FMG and HMI with spacecraft orbital velocity as an auxiliary reference, the revised linear-calibration coefficients that depend on spacecraft orbital velocity are obtained. Magnetic field of FMG corrected by the revised calibration coefficients removing the effect of spacecraft orbital velocity will be more accurate and suitable for scientific research., Comment: 20 pages, 7 figures

Magnetography using magnetic sensitive lines is regarded traditionally as the main instrument for measuring the magnetic field of the whole Sun. Full polarized Stockes parameters ($I$, $Q$, $U$, $V$) observed can be used to deduce the magnetic field under specific theoretical model or inversion algorithms. Due to various reasons, there are often cross-talk effects among Stokes signals observed directly by magnetographs. Especially, the circular polarized signal $V$ usually affects the linear polarized ones $Q$ and $U$ seriously, which is one of the main errors of the value of the transverse magnetic field (parallel to the solar surface) that is related to $Q$ and $U$. The full-disk magnetograph onboard the Advanced Space based Solar Observatory (ASO-S/FMG) is designed to observe Stockes parameters to deduce the vector magnetic field. In this paper, the methods correcting the effects of cross-talk $V$ to $Q$ and $U$ are based on the assumption of perfectly symmetric Q and U and anti-symmetric Stokes V profiles and a new method to reduce the crosstalk effect under observation mode of FMG is developed. Through the test, it is found that the two methods have better effect in cross-talk removal in the sunspot region, and have better consistency. Considering a double-headed Brownian motor moving with both translational and rotational degrees of freedom, we investigate the directed transport properties of the system in a traveling-wave potential. It is found that the traveling wave provides the essential condition of the directed transport for the system, and at an appropriate angular frequency, the positive current can be optimized. A general current reversal appears by modulating the angular frequency of the traveling wave, noise intensity, external driving force and the rod length. By transforming the dynamical equation in traveling-wave potential into that in a tilted potential, the mechanism of current reversal is analyzed. For both cases of Gaussian and Levy noises, the currents show similar dependence on the parameters. Moreover, the current in the tilted potential shows a typical stochastic resonance effect. The external driving force has also a resonance-like effect on the current in the tilted potential. But the current in the traveling-wave potential exhibits the reverse behaviors of that in the tilted potential. We present observations of an M5.7 white-light flare (WLF) associated with a small filament eruption in NOAA active region 11476 on 2012 May 10. During this flare, a circular flare ribbon appeared in the east and a remote brightening occurred in the northwest of the active region. Multi-wavelength data are employed to analyze the WLF, including white light (WL), ultraviolet, extreme ultraviolet, hard X-ray (HXR) and microwave. A close spatial and temporal relationship between the WL, HXR and microwave emissions is found in this WLF. However, the peak time of the WL emission lagged that of the HXR and microwave emissions by about 1-2 minutes. Such a result tends to support the back-warming mechanism for the WL emission. Interestingly, the enhanced WL emission occurred at the two footpoints of the filament. Through forced and potential field extrapolations, we find that the three-dimensional magnetic field in the flare region has a fan-spine feature and that a flux rope lies under the dome-like field structure. We describe the entire process of flare evolution into several steps, each producing the sequent brightening below the filament, the circular flare ribbons and the WL enhancement respectively. We suggest that reconnection between the magnetic field of the filament and the overlying magnetic field or reconnection within the flux rope leads to the WL enhancement., Comment: Accepted by ApJ

There are two goals in this study. One is to investigate how frequently white-light flares (WLFs) occur in a flare-productive active region (NOAA active region 11515). The other is to investigate the relationship between WLFs and magnetic transients (MTs). We use the full-disk continuum filtergrams and line-of-sight magnetograms taken by SDO/HMI to identify WLFs and MTs, respectively. Images taken by SDO/AIA are also used to show the morphology of the flares in the upper atmosphere. We found at least 20 WLFs out of a total of 70 flares above C class (28.6%) in NOAA active region 11515 during its passage across the solar disk. Each of these WLFs occurred in a small region, with a short duration of about 5 minutes. The enhancement of white-light continuum intensity is usually small, with an average enhancement of 8.1%. The 20 WLFs observed were found along an unusual configuration of the magnetic field characterized by a narrow ribbon of negative field. Furthermore, the WLFs were found to be accompanied by MTs, with radical changes in magnetic field strength (or even a sign reversal) observed during the flare. In contrast, there is no obvious signature of MTs in those 50 flares without white-light enhancements. Our results suggest that WLFs occur much more frequently than what was previously thought, with most WLFs being fairly weak enhancements. This may explain why WLFs are not frequently reported. Our observations also suggest that MTs and WLFs are closely related and appear co-spatial and co-temporal, when considering HMI data. A larger enhancement of WL emission is often accompanied by a larger change of the line-of-sight component of the unsigned magnetic field.
