In this work, we have investigated the structural, electronic, and optical characteristics of boron phosphide (BP) as well as Ga and In doped BP. The study employs two different density functional approximations namely, Perdew Burke Ernzerhof generalized gradient approximation (PBE-GGA) and Tran-Blaha modified Becke Johnson (TB-mBJ) approximations. The present investigation revealed that on doping, band gap of BP changes abruptly and decreases with increasing concentration of Ga and In dopants. The analysis of energy bands and density of states provides insights into the electronic structure of pure and doped boron phosphide (BP). Moreover, we have evaluated the dielectric constants, absorption coefficient, conductivity, refractive index, reflection spectra, absorbance, and transmittance spectra of pure and doped BP. Considering the close agreement between the estimated properties namely, energy gaps and optical variables with the available data, these compounds are recommended as promising candidates for optoelectronic devices. In the present investigation we introduce two new subclasses M S ∗ q (p, b; c) and M K q(p, b; c) of meromorphic multivalent functions by using q-derivative operator defined in the punctured unit disc. We use the Cassinian Oval √ 1 + cz with c ∈ (0, 1] as a subordinant function in this treatise. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic idiopathic inflammatory condition of the colon, characterized by relapsing and remitting course. This study was done to look at the clinical profile of ulcerative colitis patients in a tertiary care hospital, located in rural area of northern India. All patients with ulcerative colitis and age above 18 years who attended outpatient clinics from November 2019 to January 2020 were included in the study. A total of 45 patients were included in the study. There were 19 males (42.22%) and mean age of the patients was 37.08 (± 11.58) years. The most common presenting complain was blood in stools (88.88%). The majority of the patients (62.22%) had pancolitis. Family history of proven IBD was found in 1 (2.22%) patient only. Extra-intestinal manifestations were seen in 7 patients (15.55%) commonest being arthralgia. Thirty-three patients (73.33%) were on oral mesalazine, 20 patients (44.44%) were on azathioprine, and 9 patients (20%) were on oral corticosteroids. None of the patients was on biologics. Slight female predominance, fewer EIM, less family history of IBD, higher percentage of pancolitis, and significant percentage of patients on oral immunosuppressant (azathioprine) are the key features observed in this study from rural India. Introduction: Lower gastrointestinal (GI) bleed is defined as the blood loss from gastrointestinal tract distal to the ligament of Treitz. Studies reporting etiology of lower GI bleed is limited from India, more so from northern India. Purpose: This study was conducted with the aim to look at the causes of lower GI bleed found during colonoscopy, in a tertiary care centre (located in rural area) of Northern India. Material and Methods: In this hospital-based study, 120 patients (age more than 18 years) who underwent colonoscopy for evaluation of overt lower GI bleed between September 2019 to April 2020, were included. Results: The overall mean age of the study group was 41.46 ± 15.53 years. Male to female ratio was 1.6:1. The most common cause of bleeding per rectum was found to be ulcerative colitis (40%) and it was followed by the second most common cause - hemorrhoids (30.83%). Malignancy of the colon was found in 8.33%. Results were analyzed separately for the patients above >60 years (N=8) of age. It was observed that colon cancer (37.5%) was the commonest cause of lower GI bleed in this age group. Conclusion: In this study, the commonest cause of lower gastrointestinal bleed varied as per the age and gender i.e. while ulcerative colitis was the commonest cause overall and among females but hemorrhoids and colonic malignancy were the predominant cause among males and elderly (>60 years) age group respectively. Biliary sludge is seen on ultrasound as an amorphous echogenic material, which slowly moves to the dependent part. Endoscopic ultrasound has a sensitivity of 96% to detect biliary sludge, and the appearance is similar to that seen on transabdominal ultrasound. Other entities which can have a similar appearance include blood, pus, necrotic debris, and multiple small stones. This case represents a unique finding on endoscopic ultrasound of an echogenic image in CBD, mimicking biliary sludge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a systematic investigation of electronic structure and optical properties of quaternary chalcopyrite semiconductors Cu 2 ZnGeS 4 and Cu 2 ZnGeSe 4 in stannite and kesterite structures using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method are presented. The electronic structures and related properties of the crystals are studied with density functional theory using modified Becke – Johnson (mBJ) potential. The computed bands and density of states are found to be in good agreement with the available experimental and theoretical results. Important optical properties such as, dielectric functions, absorption spectra, refractivity and reflectivity of the crystals have also been investigated using the mBJ exchange potential. The imaginary parts of dielectric tensor are analyzed in terms of interband transitions. The band gap energies of stannite CuZnGeS 4 (CuZnGeSe 4) and kesterite CuZnGeS 4 (CuZnGeSe 4) compounds are obtained as 1.23 (0.74) eV and 1.52 (1.08) eV, respectively. In this work, electronic structure and optical properties investigations for defect-chalcopyrite semiconductors ZnGa 2 Te 4 and CdGa 2 Te 4 are presented using full potential linearized augmented plane wave method. Energy bands and density of states (DOS) computations are performed using different flavors of exchange and correlations. The calculations are performed using Wu-Cohen generalized gradient approximation (WC-GGA), Perdew et al. (PBE-sol) and the most accurate modified Becke and Johnson (mBJ) potentials. Our investigations show that energy bands and DOS computed using mBJ potential are in better agreement with the available experimental data. Optical properties such as, dielectric tensor components, absorption spectra, reflectivity, refractivity, dielectric loss, are investigated using mBJ potential. Imaginary peaks of di-electric tensor ε 2 ( ω ) , are interpreted by means of inter-band transitions from valence to conduction band. High intensity absorption curves from 3 to 5 eV, energy band gap depicted for ZnGa 2 Te 4 (1.61 eV) and CdGa 2 Te 4 (1.78 eV) materials indicates their applicability for solar photovoltaic and other optoelectronic applications. In this paper, we have investigated the impact of mono and co-doping of Sr/Sn on the electronic, optical and structural properties of MgGeN 2. The effects of Sr/Sn doping at Mg/Ge site are investigated to explore the potential of pure and doped compounds in optoelectronic applications. For the investigations of electronic and optical properties such as, energy bands, density of states, dielectric tensors, absorption coefficient, reflectivity and refractivity spectra, of MgGeN 2 , Mg 1-x Sr x GeN 2 , MgGe 1-x Sn x N 2 and Mg 1-x Sr x Ge 1-x Sn x N 2 (x = 0.0625, 0.125) compounds, we have used the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof generalized gradient approximation potential and further ameliorated by Tran-Blaha modified Becke Johnson exchange co-relation potential. The stability of the doped compounds is discussed in terms of formation energy and binding energy for the mono and co-doped compounds. It is observed that the doping of Sr/Sn at Mg/Ge reduces the band gap of MgGeN 2. The energy gap of MgGeN 2 reduces from 2.90 eV to 2.25 eV with 12.5% co-doping of Sr and Sn. A 44-year-old diabetic man presented with complains of fever for 10 days, pain and swelling on right lower back for 5 days. He gave history of pain abdomen 4 weeks back, which subsided with over the counter pain killers in 2–3 days. Acute appendicitis has varied presentation and is very often considered as a great masquerader since clinical diagnosis becomes difficult in many patients. A 20-year-old gentleman presented to the outpatient department with complains of dull pain in right upper abdomen quadrant for 2 months and 5-kg weight loss over this period. The patient denied any history of jaundice, trauma, or cough. He had taken 6 months of antitubercular therapy (ATT) 5 years back for tubercular pleural effusion. On per abdomen examination, the fullness in right intercostal region (7th and 8th intercostal space in mid clavicular line) was noted. The energy of sunlight falling on surface of the earth can be directly converted into electricity by means of the solar cells. Among the various materials used for photovoltaics, the chalcopyrite compounds CuXSe2(X=Al, Ga, In) are very promising as semiconductors and have received much attention in the recent years. To check the applicability of these materials in solar cells, we have computed the energy bands, density of states, optical dielectric tensors, reflectivity, refraction and absorption coefficients using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave method. It is seen that the energy bandgap reduces from X=Al→In. The dielectric property of these materials is discussed in terms of interband transitions. Abstract: We report energy bands, density of states and optical properties of CuGaS2 and CuInS2 chalcopyrites. The electronic structure has been computed using linear combination of atomic orbitals (LCAO) scheme within density functional theory (DFT) and full-potential linearised augmented plane wave method. The energy bands, density of states, components of dielectric tensors and absorption coefficients are compared with the available data. It is seen that the present LCAO–DFT calculations reproduce the electronic properties of both the chalcopyrites in a reasonable way. The optical properties show more absorption of solar radiations for CuGaS2 chalcopyrite, depicting its more usefulness in the solar cells. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Hemangiomas are common tumors characterized microscopically by proliferation of blood vessels. The congenital hemangioma is often present at birth and may become more apparent throughout life. They are probably developmental rather than neoplastic in origin. Despite their benign origin and behavior, hemangiomas in the oral cavity are always of clinical importance to the dental profession and require appropriate clinical management. Surgery and other treatment modalities are not always satisfactory and have a higher morbidity, recurrence, and complication rate. Various constituent ratios with 50:30, 40:40 and 30:50 wt % of U-type barium hexaferrite (Ba 4 Co 2 Fe 36 O 60) and Gamma iron oxide (γ Fe 2 O 3) have been used to designing the radar absorbing composites within epoxy resin system. In the current work, studies are done on electromagnetic and absorbing properties of γ Fe 2 O 3 powder dispersed Ba 4 Co 2 Fe 36 O 60 -epoxy composites. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) tools have been used for structural, surface morphology and magnetic properties respectively of the synthesized powder and fabricated composites. The electromagnetic properties (ε′, ε", μ' & μ") of fabricated composites were retrieved from measured reflection (S 11 & S 22) and transmission (S 12 & S 21) parameters in 2–18 GHz frequency range. Experimental finding show that the fabricated composite having 50 wt % of γ Fe 2 O 3 of designed Ba 4 Co 2 Fe 36 O 60 /γ Fe 2 O 3 -epoxy composites possesses maximum absorption of 98.8% (RL min of −19.89 dB) at 13.2 GHz for sample thickness of 3.2 mm. The fabricated microwave absorbers confirm the effective absorption performance which has potential for strategic applications and stealth technology. Summary: In this paper, we present the first principle investigations for structural and optoelectronic properties of pure, n‐type, p‐type, and co‐doped MgSiP2 chalcopyrite compounds. To examine the structural and optoelectronic response, density functional theory (DFT) as embodied in Wien2k method is utilized. Within DFT, we have considered the exchange correlation functional prescribed by Perdew‐Burke‐Ernerhof generalized gradient approximation and Tran‐Blaha modified Becke Johnson for all computation presented in this paper. The results obtained from present calculations are in well reconciliation with previously reported experimental and theoretical data for pure compound, which affirms the accuracy of present computations. The electronic responses of all compounds are investigated through the crystal structure, energy band structure, and density of states. Optical responses of studied compounds are explained in terms of dielectric tensor, absorption, reflectivity, and refractivity spectra. Drastic change in energy band gap from pure (2.04 eV) to co‐doped compound (0.30 eV) is observed. These characteristics are particularly well suited for integrated PV in buildings and automotive, as well as indoor or portable light applications. DSSC is a photo-electrochemical device comprises of a photo-anode consists of wide band metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) layer sensitized with dye, counter electrode (CE) coated with platinum or other material and an electrolyte which is sandwiched between the photo-anode and counter electrode. Therefore, to enhance the DSSC's performance, a comprehensive study to understand the fundamental and recent research trends of MOS, dye, electrolyte, sealing material and CE employed in DSSC is necessary. This paper have presented the various design strategies, material employed and literature in the field of MOS, dye, electrolyte, sealing material, and CE for DSSC. We illustrate the architecture, working mechanism, and brief explanation of DSSC growth as well as necessary requirements for the DSSC components to provide a direction for the construction of highly efficient DSSC. This paper also consolidated the introduction, benefits and classification of PV technologies. Despite serious problems associated with toxicity of lead, lead halide perovskite based solar cells have resulted with remarkable efficiency and hence gained much interest. To overcome this aspect, numerous solutions are attempted by researchers which include the development of new environmental friendly lead free double perovskite (DP) photovoltaic materials. Enlightening on the same line, we report first principle calculations on electronic and optical properties of Cs 2 AgInCl 6 solar photovoltaic materials. Present opto-electronic computations for lead free DP compound, have been performed using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave method. In present investigations, we have adopted exchange and correlation potentials prescribed by Perdew et al. and the most accurate Tran-Blaha modified Becke-Johnson. Both exchange and correlation potential computations are performed with and without spin orbit coupling. Results obtained for electronic and optical properties are validated by systematic comparison with available experimental data. Reasonable reconciliation between investigated results and the available experimental data, endorse accuracy of present computations. As these properties are linked with the method of layer preparation and deposition, therefore fabrication methods are crucial for enhancing the performance of DSSC. In this paper, we demonstrate the process of TiO 2 layer deposition by screen printing (SP) and doctor blade (DB) techniques, and the complete fabrication of DSSC. In addition, the preparation method of TiO 2 paste which is compatible for SP and DB techniques is also described. PV performance of TiO 2 layer printed by SP based DSSC is 6.72% which is better than 4.86% achieved by DB based DSSC. It is worth mentioning that power conversion efficiency (PCE) of cells was improved when a simple white paper is placed on the back surface of DSSCs during I-V characterization. Due to white paper, the incident light will be scattered or reflected again in the active area. This enhancement is remarkable, and it improves the PCE from 6.72% to 7.25% for SP and from 4.86% to 6.13% for DB technique based DSSC. We also calculated the series resistance (R S), saturation current (I S) and ideality factor ('n') for SP and DB technique based DSSC to understand the internal phenomena (charge transfer and recombination) and how these values influence the PV parameters. The transparency and colour effect of the SP and DB technique based DSSCs were explained by average visible transmittance (AVT), colour rendering index (CRI), and correlated colour temperature (CCT). Numerical investigations have been carried out to study aerodynamics of non-flapping characteristics of bird flight. Commercial software ANSYS Fluent 16.1 has been used for three-dimensional computations by considering four types of wing models. At first, square prisms with built-in side flaps are considered and the effects of Reynolds number (Re), angle of attack and dihedral angle on flow characteristics have been investigated. Thereafter, flow past actual bird wing has been considered for wings of owl, seagull, teal and bat. Role of shear layer formation at mid-span of wings has been illustrated with the help of streamline plots for different values of Re. In addition, pulsating flow is imposed on inlet velocity and the responses are obtained in form of force coefficients, phase portraits, time-dependent signals and their spectra. Abstract: MoS2 and MoSe2 in the stable semiconducting 2H form show negligible photocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). By linking the layers of the dichalcogenide with layers of other 2D materials such as carbon-rich borocarbonitride (BC7N), one can enhance the photochemical HER activity significantly. Interestingly, such nanocomposites, MoSe2-MoSe2 and MoSe2-BCN show high photocatalytic activity even though the dichalcogenide itself is in the 2H form. This study shows the important role played by covalent cross-linking of layered compounds. Photocatalytic activity of covalently cross-linked layer of 2H-MoSe2 is higher than that of 2H-MoS2. Unlike the 2H forms, the metallic 1T forms of MoS2 and MoSe2 prepared by lithium intercalation followed by exfoliation, exhibit high photocatalytic HER activity. Unfortunately, materials prepared by lithium intercalation are unstable. The 1T forms of MoSe2 and MoS2 prepared by solvothermal or hydrothermal methods are, however, quite stable and exhibit good photochemical activity for HER. The 1T forms are generally superior to the covalently linked 2H forms. The present study shows how MoSe2 and MoS2 in both 2H and 1T forms can be exploited for photochemical HER activity by appropriate chemical manipulation.Graphical Abstract: SYNOPSIS Photocatalytic HER activity of 2H-MoSe2 covalently linked with other 2D layered materials is superior to that of the pristine sheets. 1T-forms of MoSe2 and MoS2 grown by solvothermal or hydrothermal method show good photochemical activity. Two-dimensional layered PbFCl and BaFCl have been prepared by solid-state reactions and the crystal structures were subjected to Rietveld refinement to obtain structural parameters. The compounds characterized by several methods including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, etc. have been subjected to ultrasonic exfoliation in different solvents such as water, dimethylformamide and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. Water is found to yield single layers of both these halides. The supercapacitor performances of PbFCl, BaFCl and the exfoliated materials have been studied. Exfoliated 1–2 layered PbFCl exhibits a high-specific capacitance of 158 F g−1 at a scan rate of 10 mV s−1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: In recent years, there has been increased focus on individualizing treatment for persons with hemophilia including pharmacokinetic‐guided (PK) dosing. Aims: In this retrospective study clinical outcomes before and after PK‐guided prophylaxis were examined. Materials and methods: Eight Haemophilia Treatment Centres from the United States participated in the study and included 132 patients classified into two cohorts: those undergoing a PK‐assessment for product switch (switchers) or to optimize treatment (non‐switchers). Subset analyses for the two most common products and patients with dosing per prescription label were included for annual bleeding rates (ABR), mean weekly consumption outcomes, and annualized cost of prophylaxis. Results: The most common products before and after index date were octocog alfa, rurioctocog alfa pegol, and efmoroctocog alfa. Seventy‐four (56%) patients were identified as switchers and 58 (44%) patients were classified as non‐switchers. The majority of patients (78.0%) experienced either a decrease in ABR post‐index or maintained 0 ABR during pre‐ and post‐index time periods, with similar proportions identified in both switchers (77.0%) and non‐switchers (79.3%) populations. Non‐switchers were identified as having no significant change in cost of therapy, while switchers experienced increased cost of therapy driven by higher price of extended half‐life products. Within subset analyses, patients receiving rurioctocog alfa pegol and efmoroctocog alfa had mean ABR under 1 after index date. Conclusion: PK‐guided prophylaxis has the potential to improve clinical outcomes without increase in cost of therapy for patients maintaining product and can aid in maintaining effective protection against bleeds in those switching product. The present paper deals with the electronic and optical properties of ZnAl2Se4 chalcopyrite compound via full potential linearized augmented plane wave method as embodied in Wien2k code of Vienna group. All the calculations are done using the most accurate modified Becke and Johnson (mBJ) potential. We report energy bands, total and partial density of states, absorption spectra, real and imaginary components of dielectric function, reflectivity and refractivity spectra of ZnAl2Se4 compound. Energy gap of ZnAl2Se4 is found to be 3.30 eV which is in accordance with the reported experimental data. In this paper, we have performed electronic and optical investigations for ternary bulk chalcopyrite's ZnGa 2 X 4 (X = S, Se) to explore their utility as solar cell materials. The electronic structure computations presented over here, revealed direct band gap for these compounds. Detailed analysis of these structural results is performed using total and partial density of states. The optical investigations such as absorption spectra, dielectric tensors, refractivity, reflectivity, energy loss and conductivity of both compounds are performed to validate their applicability for solar photovoltaic and other optoelectronic applications. The intense nature of absorption curves observed in the solar energy region (0–5 eV), supports the possible utilization of these materials for the same. All the computations are performed using the different exchange and correlation functions namely, Wu-Cohen generalized gradient approximation (WC-GGA), Perdew et al. Startup ventures in terms of highly efficient and flexible photovoltaic devices carry a very successful idea of mainstream electricity generation. This technology with getting into a more commercialized startup platform can help in providing a better opportunity for the young and dedicated researchers/scientists to invest their innovation and develop a more efficient photovoltaic device. The ternary alkali Chalcogenide materials are replacing the lead-based halide perovskites due to their toxicity and chemical instability. The structural and electronic analysis of a ternary alkali Chalcogenide compound CsBiS2 has been performed in our research work. We have tried to represent a novel work based on this compound as it has not yet been explored theoretically to explore its optoelectronic aspect. The use of this compound can introduce an inexpensive and environment-friendly solution to it. The sample undertaken for the theoretical analysis is computed in a Quantum Espresso mathematical tool named BURAI. The electronic analysis of the compound is performed based on two features one is density of states which helps in defining contributing orbitals in formation of densities of different states and the other is band structure which helps in defining energy bands at a particular K point. The bandgap calculated for the compound is 1.53 eV analyzed through Perdew Burke Ernzerhof (PBE) exchange correlation which falls in the solar cell band gap range. Artificial Lighting for Plants (ALP) is the concept of growing a plant in light (other than sunlight), with all the other factors like moisture, soil nutrition, etc. Using the ALP device, a farmer can monitor the plants regularly. Also, distinguished light can be executed for different kinds of plants. We consider two parametric families of special functions: One is defined by a power series generalizing the classical Mathieu series, and the other one is a generalized Mathieu type power series involving factorials in its coefficients. Using criteria due to Fejér and Ozaki, we provide sufficient conditions for these functions to be close-to-convex or starlike inside the unit disk, and thus univalent.
