This article presents the work of two expressive arts therapists who traveled and taught around the world between February and April 2024. Our journey actually started on October 7, 2023, when we were supposed to start teaching in Israel, and instead found ourselves waking up into the barbaric outbreak of this new Israeli–Hamas war. Since that time and in the aftermath of a world forever marked by this tragedy and its aftermath, we have been searching for ways of being of service and engaging in and amplifying our understanding of the ways in which the arts contribute toward healing and the building of resilience in times of conflict, war, and disaster. During our journey, we teach in established creative and expressive arts therapy training programs in South Africa and India as well as teach in burgeoning and newly developing programs in Zambia and China. Wherever we go we are surrounded by the arts and arts practices and learn again about the lifesaving universality and importance of artistic expression.

In this paper, we seek to understand how to foster an inclusive learning community in a social science remote course. Through student feedback, our retrospective reflections on our course design and teaching, and a literature review of effective strategies that promote inclusive learning environments, we highlight the importance of embedding meaningful interactions and carefully scaffolded motivation, engagement, and management strategies in online learning settings. We draw upon a tree metaphor to describe a process-oriented approach to fostering an inclusive learning community that illuminates the instructional conditions and practices necessary for a transformative learning experience in remote contexts.

Convective grain drying powered by natural gas is a highly energy-intensive process with a substantial impact on the secure storage of harvested grain. By improving energy efficiency and reducing natural gas consumption, it is possible to decrease the operation's ecological footprint by lowering CO2 emissions. However, previous studies often analyse the drying process as a whole, giving less attention to individual processes. For instance, uneven drying can lead to issues during storage, such as microbial growth and dust accumulation. This paper presents an energetic analysis of mixed-flow grain dryers based on a case study in Hungary for the long term. It examines the fundamental physical characteristics of each dryer and identifies key modifications to ensure proper operation. The paper also introduces a precision drying method that allows fine-tuning of process parameters (e.g., airflow, grain flow) to optimise grain moisture content to the desired level based on large-scale continuous temperature measurements. These measurements can also validate previous modifications, enabling ongoing monitoring of optimal operating conditions via heatmaps.

In the automotive industry, the reduction of development costs has a key importance. Also, the duration of the development is a significant aspect. Electrical hardware development is an expensive, time-consuming process with a lot of development stages (e.g., prototypes, electrical tests, mechanical tests, lifecycle tests). Virtualization is an important factor in making electrical component development more sustainable; using this method, less prototype manufacturing is necessary since the simulations make it faster and more effective to find out a large portion of possible faults without building a hardware prototype. The main goal of the paper is to explore the capabilities of seven software solutions that can manage the virtualization of the electrical development toolchain. The simulation environment should manage the simulation of the electrical circuit, including the sensors and loads, the microcontroller, and the execution and debugging of the uploaded program code. The study provides guidance on choosing the proper simulator depending on the simulation focus.

Introduction Climate change is the single most important challenge and threat facing humanity (Watts et al., 2015). Climate change negatively affects human health through air quality, extreme heat, drought, wildfires, [...], This article compares perceptions of climate change between the U.S. public and National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) members collected from the annual American Climate Metrics Survey from 2016 to 2019. We analyzed the similarities, differences, and changes over 4 years regarding climate change beliefs and concerns, harms, benefits and costs of action, and solutions. While both groups had similar climate change concerns, NEHA members were significantly more likely than the public to recognize the harmful impact of climate change on health, prioritize climate action over economic growth, and act on climate solutions. NEHA members were also less likely to agree that the costs of acting on climate change are too high. We recommend that NEHA continue supporting the environmental public health workforce through education and training, facilitating cross-sectoral engagement between local partners and community members, and encouraging participation in programs such as NEHA Climate Health and Adaptation Mitigation Partnership (CHAMP) program and ecoAmerica's Climate for Health Ambassador Training. Developing resources to help communities understand climate health threats and implement climate solutions is important for NEHA to support due to limited resources available for local environmental public health. Through continued partnerships and collaborations-- such as our work with ecoAmerica and our engagement with the National Center for Environmental Health within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention--NEHA will continue to build the capability and capacity of the workforce so they can be leaders in their jurisdiction's local climate and health conversation. Neoantigens are peptides derived from non-synonymous mutations presented by human leukocyte antigens (HLAs), which are recognized by antitumour T cells1-14. The large HLA allele diversity and limiting clinical samples have restricted the study of the landscape of neoantigen-targeted T cell responses in patients over their treatment course. Here we applied recently developed technologies15-17 to capture neoantigen-specific T cells from blood and tumours from patients with metastatic melanoma with or without response to anti-programmed death receptor 1 (PD-1) immunotherapy. We generated personalized libraries of neoantigen-HLA capture reagents to single-cell isolate the T cells and clone their T cell receptors (neoTCRs). Multiple T cells with different neoTCR sequences (T cell clonotypes) recognized a limited number of mutations in samples from seven patients with long-lasting clinical responses. These neoTCR clonotypes were recurrently detected over time in the blood and tumour. Samples from four patients with no response to anti-PD-1 also demonstrated neoantigen-specific T cell responses in the blood and tumour to a restricted number of mutations with lower TCR polyclonality and were not recurrently detected in sequential samples. Reconstitution of the neoTCRs in donor T cells using non-viral CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing demonstrated specific recognition and cytotoxicity to patient-matched melanoma cell lines. Thus, effective anti-PD-1 immunotherapy is associated with the presence of polyclonal CD8+ T cells in the tumour and blood specific for a limited number of immunodominant mutations, which are recurrently recognized over time.

Tetragonal CuMnAs is a room temperature antiferromagnet with an electrically reorientable Néel vector and a Dirac semimetal candidate. Direct measurements of the electronic structure of single-crystalline thin films of tetragonal CuMnAs using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) are reported, including Fermi surfaces (FS) and energy-wavevector dispersions. After correcting for a chemical potential shift of ≈− 390 meV (hole doping), there is excellent agreement of FS, orbital character of bands, and Fermi velocities between the experiment and density functional theory calculations. In addition, 2×1 surface reconstructions are found in the low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and ARPES. This work underscores the need to control the chemical potential in tetragonal CuMnAs to enable the exploration and exploitation of the Dirac fermions with tunable masses, which are predicted to be above the chemical potential in the present samples.

In the World Arts & Embodiment Forum 2023, a key conversation was held with an international panel. This panel convened 16 international experts in dance and movement therapy to discuss their personal contributions to the field’s development in their respective countries. The aim was to create a space for sharing experiences and knowledge paradigms, embracing the diversity of emerging forms. Encouraging a creative environment, the panel fosters open dialogue to support the uniqueness of approaches and experiences. These presentation summaries have, in some instances, been edited for publication. These discussions provide insight into the profession’s evolution in a diverse world, fostering a collective understanding of key developments. The panel reflects a spirit of global collaboration and consolidation.

The article describes the author’s involvement in the development of an innovative academic dance movement therapy (DMT) training program during her Fulbright Senior Scholar assignments in Johannesburg, South Africa, spanning from the early 2020 to her subsequent return in 2023. It highlights the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasizes the author’s dedication to engaging with key interested parties and some of the significant voices in the fields of dance and movement education, community work, training, and therapy in South Africa. Situated within the Drama for Life program at the University of the Witwatersrand, this article explores the author’s goal of participating in the dialogue about the crafting of an Afro-centric training program in DMT. This program is designed to integrate existing practices and forms in dance movement and performance with cultural and spiritual elements, incorporating multiple histories, and including indigenous knowledge systems to inspire, and to integrate some of these perspectives and collaborative opportunities within the program design.

There is a growing need to increase the cost-effectiveness of the development and testing phases of embedded software using virtualization. Using this method, less prototype manufacturing is necessary since the simulations allow for faster and more effective discovery of a large portion of possible faults without building a hardware prototype. Renode is an open source embedded system simulation framework that facilitates software-based testing. The main goal of this paper is to explore the usability of the framework for automotive applications.

Understanding and monitoring nearshore environments is essential, given that these fine-scaled ecosystems are integral to human well-being. While satellites offer an opportunity to gain synchronous and spatially extensive data of coastal areas, off-the-shelf calibrated satellite sea surface temperature (SST) measurements have only been available at coarse resolutions of 1 km or larger. In this study, we develop a novel methodology to create a simple linear equation to calibrate fine-scale Landsat thermal infrared radiation brightness temperatures (calibrated for land sensing) to derive SST at a resolution of 100 m. The constants of this equation are derived from correlations of coincident MODIS SST and Landsat data, which we filter to find optimal pairs. Validation against in situ sensor data at varying distances from the shore in Northern California shows that our SST estimates are more accurate than prior off-the-shelf Landsat data calibrated for land surfaces. These fine-scale SST estimates also demonstrate superior accuracy compared with coincident MODIS SST estimates. The root mean square error for our minimally filtered dataset (n = 557 images) ranges from 0.76 to 1.20 °C with correlation coefficients from r = 0.73 to 0.92, and for our optimal dataset (n = 229 images), the error is from 0.62 to 0.98 °C with correlations from r = 0.83 to 0.92. Potential error sources related to stratification and seasonality are examined and we conclude that Landsat data represent skin temperatures with an error between 0.62 and 0.73 °C. We discuss the utility of our methodology for enhancing coastal monitoring efforts and capturing previously unseen spatial complexity. Testing the calibration methodology on Landsat images before and after the temporal bounds of accurate MODIS SST measurements shows successful calibration with lower errors than the off-the-shelf, land-calibrated Landsat product, extending the applicability of our approach. This new approach for obtaining high-resolution SST data in nearshore waters may be applied to other upwelling regions globally, contributing to improved coastal monitoring, management, and research.
