Background: External cues are effective in improving gait in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). However, the most effective cueing method has yet to be determined., Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the immediate effects of using visual, auditory, or somatosensory cues on their own or in combination during walking compared to no cues in people with PD., Methods: This was a single blinded, randomly selected, controlled study. Twenty people with PD with an age range of 46-79 years and Hoehn and Yahr scores of 1-3 were recruited. Participants were studied under 4 cueing conditions; no cue, visual, auditory, or somatosensory cues, which were randomly selected individually or in a combination., Results: A repeated measures ANOVA with pairwise comparisons using Bonferroni correction showed that any single or combination of the cues resulted in an improvement in gait velocity and stride length compared to no cue. Some significant differences were also seen when comparing different combinations of cues, specifically stride length showed significant improvements when additional cues were added to the light cue. The statistically significant difference was set at p < 0.05., Conclusions: Walking using visual, auditory, or somatosensory cues can immediately improve gait mobility in people with PD. A chairside tool for quantitative analysis of dental caries would improve clinical dental inspections. The wireless caries sensing tool with dental-explorer size has been developed comparing two sensing methods, Raman reading and pH reading for evaluating dental caries. The Raman spectra at 575 cm -1 and 960 cm -1 for in inorganic compounds, as well as 1450 cm -1 and 2940 cm -1 for organic compounds reinforced and supported the pH results. An Iridium/Iridium oxide (Ir/IrOx) pH sensing probe and wireless pH sensor (comprising an ESP8266 ESP-01 wireless module and ADS1115 analog digital converter) has been developed to quantitatively evaluate dental caries. All the operations of the wireless pH sensor were performed with a developed LabVIEW-based real-time data monitoring program. The slope and the linear fitting regression value (R 2 ) of the wireless pH sensor using seven standards were -54.9 mV/pH and 0.999, respectively, showing high accuracy and stability for the pH measurements. The pH on the dental caries surface was measured with the wireless pH sensor, and the pH mapping results in the non-caries and caries areas were 6.9 and 5.7, respectively. The developed wireless pH sensor would be useful to understand the condition of dental caries and support dentists' inspection to remove only the caries part while keeping the non-caries structure., (Copyright © 2021. To determine the criteria for the selection of an electrode suitable for a bio-fuel cell (BFC), five electrodes, i.e. silver, aluminum, nickel, stainless steel and carbon fiber cloth were investigated. The performance of the BFC according to the electrode material, including the generated voltage, current density and power density was observed. These results show that the materials used for constructing the electrodes affect the performance of the BFC. An impedance analysis was used to describe the characteristics of the electrodes in the solution. Equivalent circuits of each component such as solution, electrodes-solution interface and electrode were determined from the impedance data. The constant-phase element (CPE) model was applied for data analyzing. It was found that stainless steel, nickel and aluminum behaved like a polarized electrode which has a high electrode-solution interfacial impedance, while carbon fiber cloth and silver had a low impedance like a non-polarized electrode. The impedance data indicated that a higher interfacial impedance will result in a higher loading effect. The results can be summarized that the carbon fiber cloth electrode offers a good electron transfer in the system and thus supplies higher power to the external load.

Determination of ferritin concentration was performed using surface plasmon resonance technique. An anti-human ferritin antiserum from rabbits was immobilized on the protein-A coated sensor chip. The resonance change due to the binding of ferritin to the antibody was measured. It was found that the antigen-antibody binding of the ferritin could be monitored in real time. The detection of ferritin could be obtained in the range of 25-800 ng/ml. This dynamic range could be applied in various medical applications. Moreover, it was observed that the sensor chips could be regenerated. This offers an opportunity for multiple uses, which will reduce the unit operating cost.
