Medicinal plants take a fundamental place in people's livelihoods. They seem to be a palliative therapeutic option for health problems. The knowledge of traditional uses of plants for healing held by indigenous people is an asset to the valorization of traditional medicine, which is increasingly solicited for the treatment of many diseases. The aim of this research is to improve know-how on plant species employed in the traditional pharmacopoeia practiced by the Baka people, recognized as great healers. Data were collected between 2018 and 2019 from 75 households distributed in five villages in the Mintom subdivision, Southern Region of Cameroon. The so-called popular ethnobotanical survey method was used. One thousand six hundred and thirty-five (1 635) citations and six hundred and five (605) recipes were recorded, involving 210 plant species, distributed in 183 genera and 75 families. A total of 69 health problems were identified and distinguished in 13 groups of diseases. Results reveal that for the same diseases, each village uses its own list of plants. The study area is highly diverse in terms both flora and uses. This paper can therefore be seen as a continuation of the research and development of plants-based medicines. It is also in the line with the import-substitution policy for valorization of Cameroonian.

[english] The anatomical dissection course takes place in the first year of preclinical training at the Medical School of Hannover. In two consecutive years, one out of eight groups (each about 40 students) received an intensified introduction supported by electronic slides and videos at the beginning of each day of dissection. In both years, the new introduction was evaluated. In the second year, modifications resulting from the first evaluation were incorporated. In both years, the students rated the new approach very positively. These results are discussed in respect to educating future medical doctors and to being well prepared for the preclinical exams. [german] Der Präparierkurs wird an der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover im ersten und zweiten vorklinischen Semester durchgeführt. In zwei aufeinander folgenden Jahren wurde in jeweils einer von insgesamt acht Gruppen mit etwa 40 Studierenden immer unmittelbar vor Kursbeginn eine intensivierte Einleitung mit elektronischem Bildmaterial und Filmen durchgeführt. In beiden Jahren wurden die Einführungen evaluiert. Aus den Ergebnissen der ersten Befragung ableitbare Veränderungen wurden im zweiten Jahr bereits eingearbeitet. Die neue Vorgehensweise wurde in beiden Jahren sehr positiv bewertet. Anhand der Resultate werden Möglichkeiten einer optimierten Durchführung des Präparierkurses im Hinblick auf die Ausbildung zum Arzt und als Vorbereitung auf die ärztliche Vorprüfung diskutiert.

In this paper we introduce a theoretical framework concerned with fostering functional thinking in Grade 8 students by utilizing digital technologies. This framework is meant to be used to guide the systematic variation of tasks for implementation in the classroom while using digital technologies. Examples of problems and tasks illustrate this process. Additionally, results of an empirical investigation with Grade 8 students, which focusses on the students' skills with digital technologies, how they utilize these tools when engaging with the developed tasks, and how they influence their functional thinking, are presented. The research aim is to investigate in which way tasks designed according to the theoretical framework could promote functional thinking while using digital technologies in the sense of the operative principle. The results show that the developed framework--Function-Operation-Matrix--is a sound basis for initiating students' actions in the sense of the operative principle, to foster the development of functional thinking in its three aspects, namely, assignment, co-variation and object, and that digital technologies can support this process in a meaningful way.

Background: The Covid-19 pandemic made wearing of face masks mandatory in the psychotherapeutic context. Against this background, the present study aimed to compare the expectations of patients undergoing day-hospital or inpatient treatment regarding wearing a mask in psychotherapy before the start of therapy with the final experience after the end of therapy. The study also investigated the extent to which expectations and experiences were influenced by other factors such as socio-demographic characteristics, patients' general attitudes towards wearing a mask, duration of treatment, or mental health diagnoses. Methods: Patients' expectations and experiences were recorded using two versions of a self-developed questionnaire: the pre-version, which was administered before the start of therapy and recorded expectations, and the post-version, which was administered after the end of therapy and recorded the final experiences. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted for the questionnaire's pre- and post-version. T-tests for paired samples were calculated to compare the patients' expectations regarding the extracted factors with the final experiences. Bivariate correlations were calculated to explore the association of other potential factors with expectations and experiences. Results: The exploratory factor analysis revealed a three-factor structure: communication barriers, self-confidence, and infection protection. The communication barriers expected by the patients before the start of the therapy turned out to be significantly higher than ultimately experienced after the therapy. Higher age correlated significantly negatively with expectations and experiences, with less self-confidence expected and experienced in therapy with a mask by older patients. There was a significant positive correlation between the expectations and the duration of treatment. Patients' general attitudes correlated significantly with their expectations and experiences. Conclusion: Based on the results, wearing a mask does not appear to negatively impact the success of psychotherapy from the patient's perspective. Abstract STRUCTURE remains the most applied software aimed at recovering the true, but unknown, population structure from microsatellite or other genetic markers. About 30% of STRUCTURE‐based studies could not be reproduced (Molecular Ecology, 21, 2012, 4925). Here we use a large set of data from 2,323 horses from 93 domestic breeds plus the Przewalski horse, typed at 15 microsatellites, to evaluate how program settings impact the estimation of the optimal number of population clusters Kopt that best describe the observed data. Domestic horses are suited as a test case as there is extensive background knowledge on the history of many breeds and extensive phylogenetic analyses. Different methods based on different genetic assumptions and statistical procedures (DAPC, FLOCK, PCoA, and STRUCTURE with different run scenarios) all revealed general, broad‐scale breed relationships that largely reflect known breed histories but diverged how they characterized small‐scale patterns. STRUCTURE failed to consistently identify Kopt using the most widespread approach, the ΔK method, despite very large numbers of MCMC iterations (3,000,000) and replicates (100). The interpretation of breed structure over increasing numbers of K, without assuming a Kopt, was consistent with known breed histories. The over‐reliance on Kopt should be replaced by a qualitative description of clustering over increasing K, which is scientifically more honest and has the advantage of being much faster and less computer intensive as lower numbers of MCMC iterations and repetitions suffice for stable results. Very large data sets are highly challenging for cluster analyses, especially when populations with complex genetic histories are investigated.
