Introduction: Treatments based on cell biology need reliable and precise carriers for reaching the desired targets. For that reason, a PDO-based cell carrier was idealized, with the purpose of carrying stem cells to distant sites at room temperature., Materials and Methods: Three modalities of the same carrier were evaluated: one containing undifferentiated human dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs); one loaded with stem cells induced to neurogenic differentiation (DPSCNs); and one without cells (Blank). The carriers were implanted in sciatic nerve gaps in 48 Wistar rats that were divided in three groups. Two other rats were included in a SHAM control group. Immunohistochemical, histological and clinical analyses were performed in two, four, six and eight weeks of time., Results: Efficacy of human stem cell transportation at room temperature to rats was attested. Moreover, it was possible to confirm that those cells show tropism for inflamed environments and are also prone to induction of neurogenesis in the first two weeks, vanishing after that period., Conclusion: Clinical evaluation of the animals' gait recovery shows a promising perspective of success with the inclusion of stem cell-loaded PDO tubes in nerve gaps, which may be positively compared to previously published studies., No Level Assigned: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Background: The continental size of some countries and heterogeneous hospital network prevents patients who live in remote areas from getting adequate initial assessment of facial trauma. The authors present an alternative model for trauma assessment by videoconference via smartphones and analyze the concordance between telemedicine and face-to-face management., Methods: Fifty patients with either a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of facial trauma were independently evaluated by 2 teams of physicians: Face-to-face and telemedicine-based. The face-to-face team attended patients at bedside (physical examination and computed tomography scan analysis). The telemedicine team consisted of a general surgery resident on duty in the emergency room and a plastic surgeon researcher remotely communicating via smartphones. Both teams answered a questionnaire, which contained data concerning patient's epidemiology, physical examination, computed tomography (CT) scan findings, and treatment option to be followed. Data were analyzed and compared regarding the similarity of answers., Results: The sample studied was consistent with the literature, showing a predominance of young males. Traffic accidents and personal violence were the main causes of trauma. The concurrency of answers for physical examination findings was considered substantial (κ = 0.720). For CT scan findings, it was almost perfect (κ = 0.899); for defining the treatment option, it was almost perfect (κ = 0.891). High concurrency of face CT scan findings was observed after we calculated the positive predictive value (89.9%), negative predictive value (99.3%), sensitivity (94.2%), specificity (98.8%), and accuracy (98.3%)., Conclusions: The proposed model to facial assessment trauma by videoconference via smartphones is feasible, showing high concordance level with face-to-face assessment.

Storiform collagenoma is a rare tumor, which originates from the proliferation of fibroblasts that show increased production of type-I collagen. It is usually found in the face, neck and extremities, but it can also appear in the trunk, scalp and, less frequently, in the oral mucosa and the nail bed. It affects both sexes, with a slight female predominance. It may be solitary or multiple, the latter being an important marker for Cowden syndrome. It presents as a painless, solid nodular tumor that is slow-growing. It must be considered in the differential diagnosis of other well-circumscribed skin lesions, such as dermatofibroma, pleomorphic fibroma, sclerotic lipoma, fibrolipoma, giant cell collagenoma, benign fibrous histiocytoma, intradermal Spitz nevus and giant cell angiohistiocytoma.
