Treatment with proton pump inhibitors increases the risk of secondary infections and ARDS in hospitalized patients with COVID-19: coincidence or underestimated risk factor? Further, PPI-treated patients developed ARDS in 17 of 62 patients (27.4%) compared to 11 of 90 patients (12.2%) without PPI treatment ( I P i = 0.020, Table 1). However, development of ARDS was strongly associated with the presence of a secondary infection as only two patients (1.9%) without a secondary infection developed ARDS compared to 26 patients (54.2%) with confirmed secondary infection ( I P i < 0.001). Due to the increased incidence of developing colorectal cancer it is important to do a more accurate staging and appropriate course of treatment correlated with other prognosticfactors. We aimed to establish a relationship between evolutionary elements of a colorectal tumor, the nature of surgery and the disease prognosis. Materials and Method: 38 cases were selected from patients who received radical surgery in programming mode and to analyze the result of pathological examination in correlation with other prognostic factors. Results : The results of the analysis are included in a table and their analysis involves establishing a general approach behavior interventions radical extirpation of colorectal cancer and removal of an increasing number of lymphatic drainage stations. Conclusions : It is important to know the segments colic lymphatic mapping by the surgeon and pathologist to determine a more exact diagnosis protocol for the installation of behavior therapy. Depending on the anatomical location of basal cell carcinoma, there is a predominance of it in areas exposed to sunlight: cephalic extremity (especially the nasal pyramid, nasal region, gentian, face, eyelids) and the back (agricultural workers). Following excision of basal cell carcinoma, the remaining wound closure was achieved by one of three methods: direct suture, covering outstanding defects with skin grafts, covering defects with flaps. Remaining wounds that do not allow direct suture of the wound edges are closed with skin grafts or flaps. Anatomic and surgical principles and reconstructive techniques are given below, and the most difficult reconstructions and their results are described in their continuation. Background: Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a genetic connective tissue disease with an incidence of 2-3/10000 individuals resulting in multiple organ system affection, aortic dilatation, dissection and rupture the most severe cardiovascular complications according to natural history. These consequences can be prevented by prophylactic aortic surgery. Methods: Results are presented of patients (N=22; mean age: 26.95±9.01, min: 9; max: 42; male/female ratio=16/6) underwent elective preventive surgery over a 11 years period. Results: Preventive operations have zero 30 days mortality and still the best results in approaching normal population life extent compared to the survival of other indication groups. Secondary vascular complications should be monitored life-long after the succesful treatment of the diseased thoracic aorta of Marfan patients due to the systemic property of the extant syndrome. Conclusions: After identifying the condition and registering people with MFS in a national database, the regular check-ups, preventive operations bear great importance. Timing is crucial for the preventive operation, because the underlying disease (MFS) exposes the aorta to be a "ticking" bomb that can lead to serious consequences like aortic dissection or rupture with possible fatal outcome. Preventive aortic operations at MFS patients enjoy the benefitial outcomes and nature of the management compared to other acute type, emergency or urgent operations. The effective prevention lays on carrying out the prophylactic surgery together with the continuous check-up of the predisposed and operated patients by the help of a professional nationwide register for people with MFS that, if not created yet, should be established as well. Tested for defensive attributional bias in mothers' causal explanations for infant (2-12.5 months) growth deficiency. Mothers of healthy babies (controls; n = 82), growth deficient babies without medical problems (n = 27) and growth deficient babies with mild medical problems (n = 22) rated their levels of agreement with 23 causes of growth problems which were designed to vary in the degree of personal threat to parenting self-esteem. Ratings were completed for the mother's (Own) baby and for a nonspecific (Other) baby. Findings partially support a theory of defensive attributional bias, with higher agreement when causes referred to Other (vs. Own) baby, and lower agreement with family-related than with medical/nutritional causes. In a recent article J. M. Moore [2] gave an algorithm for minimizing the number of late jobs in a one machine sequencing problem. As indicated by the author, T. J. Hodgson has proposed a simpler version of this algorithm, for which version the proof of optimality is similar to the proof given by the author for the original algorithm. In this note a simpler proof of optimality, based on the inductive principle, will be presented for Hodgson's algorithm.
