Abstract

This paper provides an efficient solution approach to the screen-line counter location problem (SCLP), which is a counter location problem with the constraint that the traffic between OD pairs must be observed at least once. This paper formulates the SCLP using a graph cut approach, which consists of an enumeration of cuts and a cut selection problem. These problems can be reduced to a concise formulation that extends the maximum weight closure problem for two problems: finding the minimum number of links that observe all OD pairs and finding the maximum number of observed OD pairs with a budget-constrained number of links. Insights into the characteristics of cuts give superior upper bounds on the problem of finding the minimum number of links that observe all OD pairs. The proposed method is evaluated on the Sioux-Falls network. It shows that it is possible to derive a solution equivalent to the optimal solution found in previous studies in a very short computation time., Comment: 16 pages, 9 figures

Abstract

The most important part of good quality for surimi-based products is the ability of frozen surimi to form gel. Attempts have been made to make frozen surimi with chum salmon, a low-cost fish in abundant supply in the Pacific Northwest. A study was done of the gel-forming characteristics of chum salmon and the optimum conditioons for this process. With protease inhibitor, gels were formed at relatively low temperatures. Gel strength was highest at 50 and 60 degrees celsius. Chum salmon surimi revelaed no evidence of suwari and no myosin heavy chain cross-linking.

Abstract

A novel class of mitogen-activated protein kinase-activated protein kinase 2 (MAPKAP-K2) inhibitors was discovered through screening a kinase-focused library. A homology model of MAPKAP-K2 was generated and used to guide the initial SAR studies and to rationalize the observed selectivity over CDK2. An X-ray crystal structure of a compound from the active series bound to crystalline MAPKAP-K2 confirmed the predicted binding mode. This has enabled the discovery of a series of pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine derivatives showing good in vitro cellular potency as anti-TNF-α agents and in vivo efficacy in a mouse model of endotoxin shock.
