Two binuclear lanthanide complexes [Ln 2 (hfac) 6 (HL) 2 ] (Ln III = Dy( 1 ), Tb( 2 ); hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate, HL = (R)-2-amino-2-phenylethanol) have been successfully obtained by using amino alcoholate ligand. In two complexes, the Ln(III) ions are bridged by two alkoxido groups from HL ligands, resulting in binuclear complexes. The variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility studies indicate that there exists ferromagnetic interaction between two Ln(III) ions. Frequency dependent out-of-phase signals are observed for complex 1 , suggesting SMM type behavior. Complexes 1 and 2 display intensely characteristic luminescent properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective To evaluate the application value of Dual-Source CT in diagnosis of ascending aorta lesion combined aortic regurgitation before and after Carbrol's procedure. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed in 11 cases of diagnosed aortic lesion with aortic valve insufficiency who had preoperative and postoperative dual-source CT examination. Results Preoperative 11 cases showed the ascending aorta in different degree of expansion, aortic valve insufficiency, left ventricular enlargement; 7 cases of ascending aortic aneurysm with aortic valve insufficiency; 4 cases of dissection aneurysm with aortic volve insufficiency, 1 (1/7) case of bicuspid aortic valve abnormalities; 2 cases showed coronary arteries stenosis; 1 case showed aortic valve calcification with neoplasm and affected the openings of right coronary artery. 1 (1/4) case showed right coronary sinus endomembrane tear and right coronary artery originated in the false lumen, postoperative CTA showed after aortic valve replacement, the ascending aorta replacement for artificial blood vessels, artificial blood vessels around the thrombus organization; 6 cases were visible autologous aneurysmal wall surrounding the artificial blood vessels and the right auricle of dantian flow, including 1 case of disc fistula and 1 case of right coronary bypass surgery. 4 cases showed trunk stent implantation. Conclusion Dual-source CT Cardiovascular Imaging has very important value in preoperative and post operative evaluation of Carbrol's procedure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The laser surface alloying technique was used to form wear resistant layers on 70MnV cast steel rolls with NiCr–Cr3C2 powders. The objective was to investigate the effects of the scanning speed on microstructure, phases, microhardness and wear resistance. Results indicate that the alloyed layers had dense, pore and crack free and homogeneous structures, as well as a metallurgical bonding with the substrates. With the increase of scanning speed, volume of retained austenite in the alloyed layer increased, microhardness and wear resistance increased and the microstructure refined. Wear results indicated that the wear resistance of the alloyed layer was enhanced by 7.8 times compared with that of the cast steel substrate. The improvement in wear resistance was attributed to the combined results of the grain refining effect, the solution strengthening effect, the tough γ-Fe matrix of the layer, the distribution of the hard Cr7C3, Fe3C and martensite phases, and the good bonding between these hard phases and the matrix. A novel nitronyl nitroxide NIT-thien-3-Py (2-(3-(m-pyridyl)-2-thienyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide) and its Mn(II) complex [Mn(hfac)2(NIT-thien-3-Py)]2 (hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate) have been obtained. X-ray analysis indicates that the Mn(II) complex possesses a cyclic dimer structure in which two radical ligands link two Mn(II) ions through their NO groups and pyridine rings. The study of the magnetic data indicates that the manganese(II) ion strongly and antiferromagnetically interacts with the directly bonding NO group and there is weak ferromagnetic coupling between two Mn–NO pairs through the thiophene and pyridine rings of the radical ligand in agreement with a spin polarization mechanism. The underwater direct metal deposition (UDMD) was employed to deposit 316 L stainless steel (SS316L) coatings on NV E690 steel. The chemical composition gradient from monolayer to trilayer SS316L induces an in-situ phase transformation, thereby enhancing the corrosion resistance. The steady-state passive film grew linearly with the applied potential and exhibited a bilayer structure: a high resistivity barrier layer and a low resistivity outer layer. The growth kinetics of the UDMD fabricated SS316L coatings align with the point defect model. Passive film is enriched in Cr while depleted in Fe and Ni, whereas the altered zone is enriched in Ni. Background/Aims: Dachengqi decoction (DCQD) is a well-known traditional Chinese herbal drug with strong anti-inflammatory effects. Angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1) plays a vital role in maintaining the stability and integrity of the vascular wall and prevents vascular leakage due to inflammatory mediators. Our previous work found that DCQD protects against pancreatic injury in rats with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). This study aims to investigate the effects of DCQD on intestinal endothelial damage in both damaged human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and SAP rats. Methods: HUVECs were randomly divided into four groups: control group, TNF-α group, TNF-α plus Ang-1 group (Ang-1 group), and TNF-α plus DCQD group (DCQD group). Cells were incubated for 6 h, 12 h, and 24 h, before collection. The treatment concentration of DCQD was decided based on a Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. The monolayer permeability of the HUVECs was assessed by measuring the transendothelial electrical resistance (TEER). Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry. mRNA and protein expression of aquaporin 1 (AQP-1), matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9), and junctional adhesion molecule-C (JAM-C) was evaluated by RT-PCR, immunocytofluorescence, and western blot. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into a control group, SAP group, SAP plus Ang-1 group (Ang-1 group), and SAP plus DCQD group (DCQD group). SAP was induced by intraperitoneal injection of cerulein and lipopolysaccharide (LPS), while the control group received 0.9% saline solution. Evans blue was injected through the penile vein and the rats were then sacrificed 12 h after modeling. Levels of serum amylase, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-2, and IL-6 were determined by using ELISA. Intestinal tissue was analysed by histology, and capillary permeability in the tissues was evaluated by Evans blue extravasation assay. Protein and mRNA expression of AQP-1, MMP9, and JAM-C were assessed by immunohistofluorescence, western blot, and RT-PCR. Results: DCQD reduced the permeability of HUVEC induced by TNF-α in vitro. Furthermore, DCQD altered the mRNA and protein levels of JAM-C, MMP9, and AQP-1 in HUVECs after TNF-α induction. SAP intestinal injury induced by cerulein combined with lipopolysaccharides was concomitant with increased expression of JAM-C and MMP9, and reduced expression of AQP-1 in intestinal tissue. Pretreatment with DCQD attenuated SAP intestinal injury and lowered the levels of serum amylase, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-2, and IL-6 effectively. Our study demonstrated that DCQD decreased the expression of JAM-C and MMP9 and increased the expression of AQP-1 both in vitro and in vivo. Conclusion: DCQD can reduce capillary endothelial damage in acute pancreatitis-associated intestinal injury and the mechanism may be associated with the regulation of endothelial barrier function-associated proteins AQP-1, MMP9, and JAM-C.
