Abstract

The increasing demand for computational photography and imaging on mobile platforms has led to the widespread development and integration of advanced image sensors with novel algorithms in camera systems. However, the scarcity of high-quality data for research and the rare opportunity for in-depth exchange of views from industry and academia constrain the development of mobile intelligent photography and imaging (MIPI). Building on the achievements of the previous MIPI Workshops held at ECCV 2022 and CVPR 2023, we introduce our third MIPI challenge including three tracks focusing on novel image sensors and imaging algorithms. In this paper, we summarize and review the Few-shot RAW Image Denoising track on MIPI 2024. In total, 165 participants were successfully registered, and 7 teams submitted results in the final testing phase. The developed solutions in this challenge achieved state-of-the-art erformance on Few-shot RAW Image Denoising. 近年来，全球生物柴油产业快速发展，用于生产生物柴油的植物油消费量持续增加，对我国植物油供给稳定造成影响。对全球生物柴油整体发展情况、生物柴油产业发展影响因素、主要生产国生物柴油政策、生物柴油产业发展前景等进行研究，分析了全球生物柴油产业发展对我国植物油安全的影响，并提出相关建议。生物柴油产业发展改变了全球植物油消费结构、贸易流向，对我国油脂油料进口构成威胁，影响我国植物油供给安全。建议发展中国特色的生物柴油产业，提高我国油脂油料自给率，推动植物油多元化进口，确保我国植物油供给安全，同时呼吁生物柴油生产国优先保障食用消费，合理发展生物柴油。In recent years, the global biodiesel industry has developed rapidly, and the consumption of vegetable oil used for producing biodiesel has continued to increase, which has had an impact on the stable supply of vegetable oil in China. The overall development of global biodiesel, factors influencing industrial development, policies of major producing countries, and development prospects of biodiesel industry were studied. The impact of the development of global biodiesel industry on vegetable oil safety in China were analyzed, and relevant suggestions were put forward. It is found that the development of the biodiesel industry has changed the global consumption structure and trade flow of vegetable oil, posing a threat to China′s oil and oilseed imports, and affecting the security of China′s vegetable oil supply. It is recommended to develop biodiesel industry with Chinese characteristics, increase China′s self-sufficiency rate of oil and oilseed, promote diversified imports of vegetable oil, to ensure the safety of China′s vegetable oil supply, and call on major biodiesel production countries to prioritize ensuring edible consumption and develop biodiesel reasonably.

Abstract

Video super-resolution is one of the most popular tasks on mobile devices, being widely used for an automatic improvement of low-bitrate and low-resolution video streams. While numerous solutions have been proposed for this problem, they are usually quite computationally demanding, demonstrating low FPS rates and power efficiency on mobile devices. In this Mobile AI challenge, we address this problem and propose the participants to design an end-to-end real-time video super-resolution solution for mobile NPUs optimized for low energy consumption. The participants were provided with the REDS training dataset containing video sequences for a 4X video upscaling task. The runtime and power efficiency of all models was evaluated on the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000 platform with a dedicated AI processing unit capable of accelerating floating-point and quantized neural networks. All proposed solutions are fully compatible with the above NPU, demonstrating an up to 500 FPS rate and 0.2 [Watt / 30 FPS] power consumption. 9. ELSR: Extreme Low-Power Super Resolution Network For Mobile Devices

Abstract

With the popularity of mobile devices, e.g., smartphone and wearable devices, lighter and faster model is crucial for the application of video super resolution. However, most previous lightweight models tend to concentrate on reducing lantency of model inference on desktop GPU, which may be not energy efficient in current mobile devices. In this paper, we proposed Extreme Low-Power Super Resolution (ELSR) network which only consumes a small amount of energy in mobile devices. Pretraining and finetuning methods are applied to boost the performance of the extremely tiny model. Extensive experiments show that our method achieves a excellent balance between restoration quality and power consumption. Finally, we achieve a competitive score of 90.9 with PSNR 27.34 dB and power 0.09 W/30FPS on the target MediaTek Dimensity 9000 plantform, ranking 1st place in the Mobile AI & AIM 2022 Real-Time Video Super-Resolution Challenge.

Abstract

Energy Efficiency has been a research-intensive topic for almost four decades, initially driven by the expense of fossil fuels and then by environmental concerns. As one of the largest energy consumers, the industrial sector, particularly the process industry, has become the focus of energy efficiency research. Process Integration utilising Pinch Analysis plays a crucial role in improving the profitability and sustainability of industrial operations. Total Site Heat Integration (TSHI) is one of the primary branches of Process Integration based on Pinch Analysis, an industrial energy-saving method across individual process boundaries. However, the issue of plant layout has not been well addressed in the current Total Site (TS) targeting approaches. In this research, the Spatial Utility Problem Table Algorithm (SUPTA) is applied to the TSHI targeting methodology to account for the logistics of the process plants as well as the pressure drop, and heat losses caused by the effect of plant layout to achieve more accurate results that more accurately represent the actual plant situation. This enhanced tool can aid the designer in designing a Total Site Utility System that considers a new system's operational and capital costs by factoring in energy losses. A case study is performed to compare the maximum insulation (without energy losses) and conventional insulation with boiler condition adjustment (with energy losses). The result shows that the simple payback period has not significant difference at about 3 - 4 y, however, the scenario with maximal insulation has generally 3 times higher annual energy saving. The location of the utility plant is also found to be very significant in the TS utility system design, the results show that the simple payback period differs by 20 % when the utility plant is assumed at the middle of the industrial zone.
