1. Separability and lower bounds of quantum entanglement based on realignment

Abstract

The detection and estimation of quantum entanglement are the essential issues in the theory of quantum entanglement. We construct matrices based on the realignment of density matrices and the vectorization of the reduced density matrices, from which a family of separability criteria are presented for both bipartite and multipartite systems. Moreover, new lower bounds of concurrence and convex-roof extended negativity are derived. Criteria are also given to detect the genuine tripartite entanglement. Lower bounds of the concurrence of genuine tripartite entanglement are presented. By detailed examples we show that our results are better than the corresponding ones in identifying and estimating quantum entanglement as well as genuine multipartite entanglement., Comment: 11pages, 5 figures and 2 tables

7. Simulation of femtosecond laser-induced periodic surface structures on fused silica by considering intrapulse and interpulse feedback.

Abstract

The formation of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSSs) on fused silica upon irradiation with plane wave, double pulse, spot processing, and scanning processing (pulse duration tp = 35 fs, center wavelength λ = 800 nm, low repetition rate ≈1 kHz) is studied theoretically with an improved three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain plasma model. The model covers both intrapulse feedback under single shot and interpulse feedback under multi-shots, thus enabling better prediction of transient responses during laser–material interaction and the evolution of the ablated morphology and accumulated defects' density with more shots. In simulations of a single plane wave, a double pulse can modulate LIPSS periodicity. In simulations of spot processing with Gaussian beam, an increase in the number of shots results in a noticeable ablation pattern where high-spatial-frequency LIPSS surrounds low-spatial-frequency LIPSS at a fluence of 2.8 J/cm2. Moreover, simulations of scanning processing with Gaussian beam showcase the broad applicability of this model, revealing that the orientation of the LIPSS depends on the polarization direction rather than the scanning path. This new model provides a powerful tool to simulate the formation of LIPSS on silica, particularly when temporally modulated laser is involved or predicting the evolution of morphology dependent on the number of shots. Abstract

We report measurements demonstrating that when the Neel vector of the collinear antiferromagnet RuO2 is appropriately canted relative to the sample plane, the antiferromagnet generates a substantial out of plane damping-like torque. The measurements are in good accord with predictions that when an electric field, E is applied to the spin split band structure of RuO2 it can cause a strong transverse spin current even in the absence of spin-orbit coupling. This produces characteristic changes in all three components of the E induced torque vector as a function of the angle of E relative to the crystal axes, corresponding to a spin current with a well defined tilted spin orientation s approximately (but not exactly) parallel to the Neel vector, flowing perpendicular to both E and S. This angular dependence is the signature of an antiferromagnetic spin Hall effect with symmetries that are distinct from other mechanisms of spin-current generation reported in antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic materials.

Abstract

We demonstrate a-axis YBa2Cu3O7-x/PrBa2Cu3O7-x/YBa2Cu3O7-x trilayers grown on (100) LaAlO3 substrates with improved interface smoothness. The trilayers are synthesized by ozone-assisted molecular-beam epitaxy. The thickness of the PrBa2Cu3O7-x layer is held constant at 8 nm and the thickness of the YBa2Cu3O7-x layers is varied from 24 nm to 100 nm. X-ray diffraction measurements show all trilayers to have >95% a-axis content. The rms roughness of the thinnest trilayer is < 0.7 nm and this roughness increases with the thickness of the YBa2Cu3O7-x layers. The thickness of the YBa2Cu3O7-x layers also affects the transport properties: while all samples exhibit an onset of the superconducting transition at and above 85 K, the thinner samples show wider transition widths, {\Delta}Tc. High-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy reveals coherent and chemically sharp interfaces, and that growth begins with a cubic (Y,Ba)CuO3-x perovskite phase that transforms into a-axis oriented YBa2Cu3O7-x as the substrate temperature is ramped up., Comment: Manuscript: 21 pages, 5 figures; supplementary materials: 12 pages, 1 table, 10 supplementary figures

33. Improving Interpretability of Word Embeddings by Generating Definition and Usage

Abstract

Word embeddings are substantially successful in capturing semantic relations among words. However, these lexical semantics are difficult to be interpreted. Definition modeling provides a more intuitive way to evaluate embeddings by utilizing them to generate natural language definitions of corresponding words. This task is of great significance for practical application and in-depth understanding of word representations. We propose a novel framework for definition modeling, which can generate reasonable and understandable context-dependent definitions. Moreover, we introduce usage modeling and study whether it is possible to utilize embeddings to generate example sentences of words. These ways are a more direct and explicit expression of embedding's semantics for better interpretability. We extend the single task model to multi-task setting and investigate several joint multi-task models to combine usage modeling and definition modeling together. Experimental results on existing Oxford dataset and a new collected Oxford-2019 dataset show that our single-task model achieves the state-of-the-art result in definition modeling and the multi-task learning methods are helpful for two tasks to improve the performance.
