However, its relationship with functional outcome remains unclear.Methods: A retrospective explorative analysis was performed on SCI patients admitted to a tertiary academic medical center between January 2018 and June 2022. The candidate predictor variables, including demographics, clinical characteristics and complications, were analyzed with logistic and linear regression. Spinal Cord Independence Measure (SCIM) scores at discharge and mean relative functional gain (mRFG) of SCIM were as outcome parameters.Results: A total of 140 SCI patients included for the final analysis. Among them, 44 (31.43%) patients were tetraplegics, and 96 (68.57%) patients were paraplegics; 68 (48.57%) patients developed NP, and 72 (51.43%) patients did not. Logistic and linear regression analyses of SCIM at discharge both showed that NP [OR=3.10, 95% CI (1.29,7.45), P=0.01; unstandardized β=11.47, 95% CI (4.95,17.99), P< 0.01; respectively] was significantly independent predictors for a favorable outcome (SCIM at discharge ≥ 50, logistic regression results) and higher SCIM total score at discharge (linear regression results). Besides, NP [unstandardized β=15.67, 95% CI (8.94,22.41), P< 0.01] was also independently associated with higher mRFG of SCIM scores. Furthermore, the NP group had significantly higher mRFG, SCIM total scores and subscales (self-care, respiration and sphincter management, and mobility) at discharge compared to the non-NP group. However, there were no significant differences in mRFG, SCIM total score or subscales at discharge among the NP subgroups in terms of locations (at level pain, below level pain, and both) or timing of occurrence (within and after one month after SCI). This study also showed that incomplete injury, lumbar-sacral injury level and non-anemia were significantly independent predictors for a favorable outcome, and higher mRFG of SCIM scores (except for non-anemia).Conclusion: NP appears independently associated with better functional recovery in SCI patients, suggesting the bright side of this undesirable complication. GSE60042 and GSE8514 were used to identify DEGs. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and protein–protein interaction (PPI) network module analysis were conducted. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis was performed. GSE10927 and GSE33371 were used for further external validation.Results: We identified a total of 892 DEGs from GSE60042 and 1167 DEGs from GSE8514. WGCNA analysis demonstrated that the blue module (255 genes) and turquoise module (303 genes) were significantly correlated with APA. PPI networks were then constructed. GO term enrichment analysis suggested that cellular divalent inorganic cation homeostasis, calcium ion homeostasis, collagen-containing extracellular matrix, transport vesicle and metal ion transmembrane transporter activity were the vital annotations. KEGG pathway analysis found that these genes were significantly enriched in neuroactive ligand−receptor interaction, calcium signaling pathway. Finally, we identified a total of 11 candidate genes involving in the development and progression of APA and PA. Besides, two independent datasets (GSE10927 and GSE33371) were used for external validation, and there were seven hub genes successfully verified, including C3, GRM3, AVPR1A, WFS1, PTGFR, NTSR2, and JUN.Conclusion: These newly identified genes could contribute to the understanding of potential mechanism in APA and PA and might be promising targets for the treatment of APA and PA.Keywords: aldosterone-producing adenoma, bioinformatics, primary aldosteronism, gene expression omnibus datasets

First, the participants were placed in a 25°C room. Second, they were randomly assigned to either a 28°C (group A) or an 18°C room (group B). Finally, they were moved from the 28°C to the 18°C room, or vice versa. They stayed in each room for 20 minutes. Seated BP was measured at the 17th and 19th minute in each room, and the average was used. The difference in the subject’s BP between the second two rooms was recorded as delta BP.Results: The baseline systolic BP (SBP), age, gender distribution, and incidence of hypertension were similar between the two groups. In group A, the decrease in room temperature of 10°C induced a mean rise in SBP of 4.1 mmHg. In group B, the increase of 10°C caused SBP to decrease by 4.0 mmHg. When compared with the group without hypertension, the group with hypertension had a significantly higher rise in mean SBP (6.8 vs 1.2 mmHg) as a result of the decrease in temperature and a significantly higher drop in SBP (7.3 vs 1.2 mmHg) as a result of the increase in temperature. The participants in the group with hypertension were older.Conclusion: A 10°C change in room temperature, from 18°C to 28°C, for 20 min can cause a significant change in SBP. Demographics, clinical characteristics, and data regarding complications were collected, and then univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify independent risk factors for infectious complications after prostate biopsy.Results: Multivariate logistic analysis demonstrated that body mass index (BMI) (OR=2.339, 95% CI 2.029–2.697, P28.196 kg/m2, history of diabetes, and preoperative catheterization are independent risk factors for infection after prostate biopsy. Several serotonin receptor (5-HTR) gene polymorphisms have been associated with susceptibility to psychiatric diseases. In this study, we analyzed the correlation between 5-HTR1A and 5-HTR2A polymorphisms and response or remission to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) drugs. Methods: Two hundred and ninety patients who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition criteria for major depressive disorder were involved in this study. SSRIs (fluoxetine, paroxetine, citalopram, or sertraline) were selected randomly for treatment. The Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression was used to evaluate the antidepressant effect. To assess 5-HTR gene variabilities, two single-nucleotide polymorphisms in 5-HTR1A (rs1364043 and rs10042486) and three in 5-HTR2A (rs6311, rs6313, and rs17289304) were genotyped by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry using the Sequenom MassARRAY Analyzer 4 system. Results: There were 220 responders and 70 nonresponders (120 remissioners and 170 nonremissioners) after 6 weeks of treatment. We found no association between any of the five 5-HTR1A and 5-HTR2A gene polymorphisms and antidepressant drug response or remission (P>0.05). It is worth mentioning that TT genotype frequency of rs10042486 was significantly different from the CT genotype frequency between responders and nonresponders, although the significance was not maintained after correcting for multiple testing. Conclusion: Thus, 5-HTR1A and 5-HTR2A gene polymorphisms may not play an important role in antidepressant drug response or remission. Keywords: genetic association, major depressive disorder, SSRIs

Hemorrhoidal cushions as the anal venous plexi are normal anatomical structures from infancy. This study attempts to reveal the angiodysplasia and other pathological changes in association with different degrees of symptomatic hemorrhoids.Materials and methods: A total of 281 patients with internal hemorrhoids from degree I to IV underwent hemorrhoidectomy. The vascular changes were analyzed by microscopic assessment and software analysis, with Masson’s trichrome, CD34, and smooth muscle actin.Results: The hemorrhoidal tissues exhibited abnormal vessels in the mucosae and submucosae that we termed them as myofibrotic malformation vessels (MMVs). MMVs are not ascribed to arteries or veins because they exhibit enlarged and tortuous lumens with smooth muscle dysplasia and fibrotic deposition in the walls without overlying mucosal ulceration. The muscularis mucosae also showed smooth muscle dysplasia and fibrosis, even if it were interrupted by the intruding MMVs. Layer-by-layer technique is an efficient method with easy operation which can be used for the assembly of multifunctional gene carriers. This work describes a pH-sensitive multifunctional gene vector that offered long circulation property but avoided the inhibition of tumor cellular uptake of gene carriers associated with the use of polyethylene glycol.Methods: Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was firstly condensed with protamine into a cationic core which was used as assembly template. Then, additional layers of anionic DNA, cationic liposomes, and o-carboxymethyl-chitosan (CMCS) were alternately adsorbed onto the template via layer-by-layer technique and finally the multifunctional vector called CMCS-cationic liposome-coated DNA/protamine/DNA complexes (CLDPD) was constructed. For in vitro test, the cytotoxicity and transfection investigation was carried out on HepG2 cell line. For in vivo evaluation, CMCS-CLDPD was intratumorally injected into tumor-bearing mice and the tumor cells were isolated for fluorescence determination of transfection efficiency.Results: CMCS-CLDPD had ellipsoidal shapes and showed “core-shell” structure which showed stabilization property in serum and effective protection of DNA from nuclease degradation. In vitro and in vivo transfection results demonstrated that CMCS-CLDPD had pH-sensitivity and the outermost layer of CMCS fell off in the tumor tissue, which could not only protect CMCS-CLDPD from serum interaction but also enhance gene transfection efficiency.Conclusion: These results demonstrated that multifunctional CMCS-CLDPD had pH-sensitivity, which may provide a new approach for the antitumor gene delivery.Keywords: layer-by-layer, multifunctional nanovector, pH-sensitivity, gene delivery

However, we present one special case here to show a totally reversed pathogenesis – vagal activation occupying the leading role, which requires atropine to cure the patient’s symptoms. Through this report, it is reasonably proven that panic disorder may be a heterogeneous condition, whose mechanism might be the imbalance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic tone. The persistent mutation of the novel coronavirus presents a continual threat of infections and associated illnesses. While considerable research efforts have concentrated on the functional proteins of SARS-CoV-2 in the development of anti-COVID-19 therapeutics, the structural proteins, particularly the N protein, have received comparatively less attention. This study focuses on the N protein, a critical structural component of the virus, and employs advanced deep learning models, including EMPIRE and DeepFrag, to optimize the structures of phenanthridine-based compounds. More than 10,000 small molecules, derived through deep learning, underwent high-throughput virtual screening, resulting in the synthesis of 44 compounds. Compound 38 showed a binding potential energy of -8.2 kcal/mol in molecular docking. Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Microscale Thermophoresis (MST) validation yielded dissociation constants of 353 nM and 726 nM, confirming strong binding to the N protein. Compound 38 demonstrated antiviral activity in vitro and exhibited anti-COVID-19 effects by interfering with the binding of N proteins to RNA. This research underscores the potential of targeting the SARS-CoV-2 N protein for therapeutic intervention and illustrates the efficacy of deep learning model in the design of lead compounds. Sialidases (or neuraminidases) catalyze the hydrolysis of sialic acid (Sia)-containing molecules, mostly the removal of the terminal Sia on glycans (desialylation) of either glycoproteins or glycolipids. Therefore, sialidases can modulate the functionality of the target glycoprotein or glycolipid and are involved in various biological pathways in health and disease. In mammalian cells, there are four kinds of sialidase, which are Neu1, Neu2, Neu3, and Neu4, based on their subcellular locations and substrate specificities. Neu1 is the lysosomal sialidase, Neu2 is the cytosolic sialidase, Neu3 is the plasma membrane-associated sialidase, and Neu4 is found in the lysosome, mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum. In addition to specific subcellular locations, sialidases can translocate to different subcellular localizations within particular cell conditions and stimuli, thereby participating in different cellular functions depending on their loci. Lysosomal sialidase Neu1 can translocate to the cell surface upon cell activation in several cell types, including immune cells, platelets, endothelial cells, and epithelial cells, where it desialylates receptors and thus impacts receptor activation and signaling. On the other hand, cells secrete sialidases upon activation. Secreted sialidases can serve as extracellular sialidases and cause the desialylation of both extracellular glycoproteins or glycolipids and cell surface glycoproteins or glycolipids on their own and other cells, thus playing roles in various biological pathways as well. Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are long-lasting environmental contaminants that are released into the environment during the e-waste disassembly process, pose a threat to human health. Human milk is a complex and dynamic mixture of endogenous and exogenous substances, including steroid hormones and PFAS. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the association between PFAS and steroid hormones in human milk from women living close to an e-waste disassembly area. In 2021, we collected milk samples from 150 mothers within 4 weeks of delivery and analyzed them via liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry to determine the levels of 21 perfluorinated compounds and five steroid hormones (estrone, estriol, testosterone, progesterone, and androstenedione [A-dione]). We also performed multiple linear regression analysis to clarify the association between maternal PFAS exposure and steroid hormone concentrations. Our results indicated that PFOA and PFOS were positively associated with estrone ( β , 0.23; 95% CI, 0.08-0.39) and A-dione ( β , 0.186; 95% CI, 0.016-0.357) concentrations in human milk, respectively. Further, the average estimated daily intake of PFOA and PFOS were 36.5 ng/kg bw/day (range, 0.52-291.7 ng/kg bw/day) and 5.21 ng/kg bw/day (range, 0.26-32.3 ng/kg bw/day), respectively. Of concern, the PFAS intake of breastfeeding infants in the study area was higher than the recommended threshold. These findings suggested that prenatal exposure to PFAS from the e-waste disassembly process can influence steroid hormones levels in human milk. In this study, seventeen isobavachalcone (IBC) derivatives (1-17) were synthesised, and evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against three human lung cancer cell lines. Among these derivatives, compound 16 displayed the most potent cytotoxic activity against H1975 and A549 cells, with IC50 values of 4.35 and 14.21 μM, respectively. Compared with IBC, compound 16 exhibited up to 4.11-fold enhancement of cytotoxic activity on human non-small cell lung cancer H1975 cells. In addition, we found that compound 16 suppressed H1975 cells via inducing apoptosis and necroptosis. The initial mechanism of compound 16 induced cell death in H1975 cells involves the increasing of Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and Cyt C protein level, down-regulating of Akt protein level, and cleaving caspase-9 and -3 induced apoptosis; the up-regulation of RIP3, p-RIP3, MLKL, and p-MLKL levels induced necroptosis. Moreover, compound 16 also caused mitochondrial dysfunction, thereby decreasing cellular ATP levels, and resulting in excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation.

Introduction: Currently, the development of new antiviral drugs against COVID-19 remains of significant importance. In traditional Chinese medicine, the herb Euphorbia fischeriana Steud is often used for antiviral treatment, yet its therapeutic effect against the COVID-19 has been scarcely studied. Therefore, this study focuses on the roots of E. fischeriana Steud, exploring its chemical composition, antiviral activity against COVID-19, and the underlying basis of its antiviral activity., Methods: Isolation and purification of phytochemicals from E. fischeriana Steud. The elucidation of their configurations was achieved through a comprehensive suite of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analyses as well as X-ray diffraction. Performed cytopathic effect assays of SARS-CoV-2 using Vero E6 cells. Used molecular docking to screen for small molecule ligands with binding to SARS-CoV-2 RdRp. Microscale thermophoresis (MST) was used to determine the dissociation constant Kd., Results: Ultimately, nine new ent-atisane-type diterpenoid compounds were isolated from E. fischeriana Steud, named Eupfisenoids A-I (compounds 1-9). The compound of 1 was established as a C-19-degraded ent-atisane-type diterpenoid. During the evaluation of these compounds for their antiviral activity against COVID-19, compound 1 exhibited significant antiviral activity. Furthermore, with the aid of computer virtual screening and microscale thermophoresis (MST) technology, it was found that this compound could directly bind to the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp, NSP12) of the COVID-19, a key enzyme in virus replication. This suggests that the compound inhibits virus replication by targeting RdRp., Discussion: Through this research, not only has our understanding of the antiviral components and material basis of E. fischeriana Steud been enriched, but also the potential of atisane-type diterpenoid compounds as antiviral agents against COVID-19 has been discovered. With the wide use of screen media, screen exposure shows a trend of younger age, and the screen exposure of children and adolescents has become a global public health issue of concern. Childhood and adolescence are important stages of growth and development, as well as critical periods of cognitive ability, emotional development and socialization. Previous studies have shown that screen time is closely related to the mental health of children and adolescents, but few studies have focused on the correlation between screen content and their mental health. The screen content for children and adolescents mainly comes from traditional TV and emerging interactive electronic media. Children and adolescents are highly sensitive to screen content. This paper summarizes the current situation of screen content for children and adolescents and reviews the correlation between screen content and their mental health issues. It also reveals the potential mechanism of the correlation between the two to provide a theoretical basis for the selection and supervision of screen content for children and adolescents.

Introduction: Lipid metabolism dysfunction is widely involved in the pathological process of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The coordination of lipid metabolism between neurons and astrocytes is of great significance. However, the full scope of lipid dynamic changes and the function of key lipids during AIS remain unknown. Hence, identifying lipid alterations and characterizing their key roles in AIS is of great importance., Methods: Untargeted and targeted lipidomic analyses were applied to profile lipid changes in the ischemic penumbra and peripheral blood of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) mice as well as the peripheral blood of AIS patients. Infarct volume and neurological deficits were assessed after tMCAO. The cell viability and dendritic complexity of primary neurons were evaluated by CCK8 assay and Sholl analysis. Seahorse, MitoTracker Green, tetramethyl rhodamine methyl ester (TMRM), 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) and MitoSOX were used as markers of mitochondrial health. Fluorescent and isotopic free fatty acid (FFA) pulse-chase assays were used to track FFA flux in astrocytes., Results: Long-chain acylcarnitines (LCACs) were the lipids with the most dramatic changes in the ischemic penumbra and peripheral blood of tMCAO mice. LCACs were significantly elevated on admission in AIS patients and associated with poor outcomes in AIS patients. Increasing LCACs through a bolus administration of palmitoylcarnitine amplified stroke injury, while decreasing LCACs by overexpressing carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2 (CPT2) ameliorated stroke injury. Palmitoylcarnitine aggravated astrocytic mitochondrial damage after OGD/R, while CPT2 overexpression in astrocytes ameliorated cocultured neuron viability. Further study revealed that astrocytes stimulated by OGD/R liberated FFAs from lipid droplets into mitochondria to form LCACs, resulting in mitochondrial damage and lowered astrocytic metabolic support and thereby aggravated neuronal damage., Conclusion: LCACs could accumulate and damage neurons by inducing astrocytic mitochondrial dysfunction in AIS. Background: The use of chronic disease information systems in hospitals and communities plays a significant role in disease prevention, control, and monitoring. However, there are several limitations to these systems, including that the platforms are generally isolated, the patient health information and medical resources are not effectively integrated, and the "Internet Plus Healthcare" technology model is not implemented throughout the patient consultation process., Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the application of a hospital case management information system in a general hospital in the context of chronic respiratory diseases as a model case., Methods: A chronic disease management information system was developed for use in general hospitals based on internet technology, a chronic disease case management model, and an overall quality management model. Using this system, the case managers provided sophisticated inpatient, outpatient, and home medical services for patients with chronic respiratory diseases. Chronic respiratory disease case management quality indicators (number of managed cases, number of patients accepting routine follow-up services, follow-up visit rate, pulmonary function test rate, admission rate for acute exacerbations, chronic respiratory diseases knowledge awareness rate, and patient satisfaction) were evaluated before (2019-2020) and after (2021-2022) implementation of the chronic disease management information system., Results: Before implementation of the chronic disease management information system, 1808 cases were managed in the general hospital, and an average of 603 (SD 137) people were provided with routine follow-up services. After use of the information system, 5868 cases were managed and 2056 (SD 211) patients were routinely followed-up, representing a significant increase of 3.2 and 3.4 times the respective values before use (U=342.779; P<.001). With respect to the quality of case management, compared to the indicators measured before use, the achievement rate of follow-up examination increased by 50.2%, the achievement rate of the pulmonary function test increased by 26.2%, the awareness rate of chronic respiratory disease knowledge increased by 20.1%, the retention rate increased by 16.3%, and the patient satisfaction rate increased by 9.6% (all P<.001), while the admission rate of acute exacerbation decreased by 42.4% (P<.001) after use of the chronic disease management information system., Conclusions: Use of a chronic disease management information system improves the quality of chronic respiratory disease case management and reduces the admission rate of patients owing to acute exacerbations of their diseases., (© Yi-Zhen Xiao, Xiao-Jia Chen, Xiao-Ling Sun, Huan Chen, Yu-Xia Luo, Yuan Chen, Ye-Mei Liang. Although it is well documented that mountains tend to exhibit high biodiversity, how geological processes affect the assemblage of montane floras is a matter of ongoing research. Here, we explore landform-specific differences among montane floras based on a dataset comprising 17,576 angiosperm species representing 140 Chinese mountain floras, which we define as the collection of all angiosperm species growing on a specific mountain. Our results show that igneous bedrock (granitic and karst-granitic landforms) is correlated with higher species richness and phylogenetic overdispersion, while the opposite is true for sedimentary bedrock (karst, Danxia, and desert landforms), which is correlated with phylogenetic clustering. Furthermore, we show that landform type was the primary determinant of the assembly of evolutionarily older species within floras, while climate was a greater determinant for younger species. Our study indicates that landform type not only affects montane species richness, but also contributes to the composition of montane floras. To explain the assembly and differentiation of mountain floras, we propose the 'floristic geo-lithology hypothesis', which highlights the role of bedrock and landform processes in montane floristic assembly and provides insights for future research on speciation, migration, and biodiversity in montane regions., (© 2024. Non-traditional intrinsic luminescent (NTIL) polymer is an emerging field, and its color-tunable modification is highly desirable but still rarely investigated. Here, a click chemistry approach for the color-tunable modifications of NTIL polymers by introducing clickable polymerization-induced emission luminogen (PIEgen), is demonstrated. Through Cu-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition click chemistry, a series of PIEgens is successful prepared, which is further polymerized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. Interestingly, after clickable modification, these monomers are nonemissive in both solution and aggregation states; while, the corresponding polymers exhibit intriguing aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics, confirming their PIEgen characteristics. By varying alkynyl substitutions, color-tunable NTIL polymers are achieved with emission wavelength varying from 448 to 498 nm, revealing a series of PIEgens and verifying the importance of modification of NTIL polymers. Further luminescence energy transfer application is carried out as well. The tumor microenvironment plays a vital role in glioblastoma growth and invasion. PD-1 and PD-L1 modulate the immunity in the brain tumor microenvironment. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In the present study, in vivo and in vitro experiments were conducted to reveal the effects of PD-1/PD-L1 on the crosstalk between microglia and glioma. Results showed that glioma cells secreted PD-L1 to the peritumoral areas, particularly microglia containing highly expressed PD-1. In the early stages of glioma, microglia mainly polarized into the pro-inflammatory subtype (M1). Subsequently, the secreted PD-L1 accumulated and bound to PD-1 on microglia, facilitating their polarization toward the microglial anti-inflammatory (M2) subtype primarily via the STAT3 signaling pathway. The role of PD-1/PD-L1 in M2 polarization of microglia was partially due to PD-1/PD-L1 depletion or application of BMS-1166, a novel inhibitor of PD-1/PD-L1. Consistently, co-culturing with microglia promoted glioma cell growth and invasion, and blocking PD-1/PD-L1 significantly suppressed these processes. Background: This study presents an evaluation of the computed tomography lymphangiography (CTL) features of lymphatic plastic bronchitis (PB) and primary chylothorax to improve the diagnostic accuracy for these two diseases., Aim: To improve the diagnosis of lymphatic PB or primary chylothorax, a retrospective analysis of the clinical features and CTL characteristics of 71 patients diagnosed with lymphatic PB or primary chylothorax was performed., Methods: The clinical and CTL data of 71 patients (20 with lymphatic PB, 41 with primary chylothorax, and 10 with lymphatic PB with primary chylothorax) were collected retrospectively. CTL was performed in all patients. The clinical manifestations, CTL findings, and conventional chest CT findings of the three groups of patients were compared. The chi-square test or Fisher's exact test was used to compare the differences among the three groups. A difference was considered to be statistically significant when P < 0.05., Results: (1) The percentages of abnormal contrast medium deposits on CTL in the three groups were as follows: Thoracic duct outlet in 14 (70.0%), 33 (80.5%) and 8 (80.0%) patients; peritracheal region in 18 (90.0%), 15 (36.6%) and 8 (80.0%) patients; pleura in 6 (30.0%), 33 (80.5%) and 9 (90.0%) patients; pericardium in 6 (30.0%), 6 (14.6%) and 4 (40.0%) patients; and hilum in 16 (80.0%), 11 (26.8%) and 7 (70.0%) patients; and (2) the abnormalities on conventional chest CT in the three groups were as follows: Ground-glass opacity in 19 (95.0%), 18 (43.9%) and 8 (80.0%) patients; atelectasis in 4 (20.0%), 26 (63.4%) and 7 (70.0%) patients; interlobular septal thickening in 12 (60.0%), 11 (26.8%) and 3 (30.0%) patients; bronchovascular bundle thickening in 14 (70.0%), 6 (14.6%) and 4 (40.0%) patients; localized mediastinal changes in 14 (70.0%), 14 (34.1%), and 7 (70.0%) patients; diffuse mediastinal changes in 6 (30.0%), 5 (12.2%), and 3 (30.0%) patients; cystic lesions in the axilla in 2 (10.0%), 6 (14.6%), and 2 (20.0%) patients; and cystic lesions in the chest wall in 0 (0%), 2 (4.9%), and 2 (4.9%) patients., Conclusion: CTL is well suited to clarify the characteristics of lymphatic PB and primary chylothorax. Cadmium (Cd) pollution is a public environmental problem worthy of attention. Long-term exposure to Cd may have adverse effects on human health. Our previous study showed that urinary concentration of Cd (U-Cd) in the residents decreased when Cd-polluted paddy soil was removed. However, from 2008 to 2014, the concentration of U-Cd increased. At the same time, the concentration of urinary β 2 -microglobulin (β 2 -MG), which is considered to be an early sign of cadmium-induced renal dysfunction, increased continuously. To find the cause of elevated urinary cadmium (U-Cd) in residents of cadmium-contaminated areas, we measured the concentration of cadmium in the blood (B-Cd) of 29 elderly residents (15 female and 14 male) and edible rice (R-Cd), and correlations between R-Cd, B-Cd, and U-Cd were analyzed in the formerly cadmium-polluted areas (the Kakehashi River basin). In 2016, we collected blood, urine, and rice samples from each participant. The analysis showed a significant correlation between age and B-Cd, U-Cd, and β 2 -MG. However, there was no significant correlation between R-Cd and U-Cd, B-Cd, or β 2 -MG concentrations. Although we found a slightly higher level of Cd in rice and urine than reported in 2008, we cannot be sure that it indicates an increased Cd contamination in the Kakehashi River basin because larger studies are required for such a conclusion. The increased urinary Cd concentrations in this area may be because Cd in tissues and organs returns to blood and urine as participants age, which leads to an increasing trend., (© 2023. Objective: The aim of this study is to observe the anesthetic effect and safety of intravenous anesthesia without muscle relaxant with propofol-remifentanil combined with regional block under laryngeal mask airway in pediatric ophthalmologic surgery., Methods: A total of 90 undergoing ophthalmic surgery were anesthetized with general anesthesia using the laryngeal mask airway without muscle relaxant. They were randomly divided into two groups: 45 children who received propofol-remifentanil intravenous anesthesia combined with regional block (LG group), and 45 children who received total intravenous anesthesia (G group). The peri-operative circulatory indicators, awakening time after general anesthesia, postoperative analgesic effect and the incidence of anesthesia-related adverse events were respectively compared between the two groups., Results: All the children successfully underwent the surgical procedure. The awakening time after general anesthesia and removal time of laryngeal mask were significantly shorter in the LG group than in the G group (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the heart rates in the perioperative period between the two groups (P > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of intraoperative physical response, respiratory depression, postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and emergence agitation (EA) between the two groups (P > 0.05). The pain score at the postoperative hour 2 was lower in the LG group than in the G group (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Propofol-remifentanil intravenous anesthesia combined with long-acting local anesthetic regional block anesthesia, combined with laryngeal mask ventilation technology without muscle relaxants, can be safely used in pediatric eye surgery to achieve rapid and smooth recovery from general anesthesia and better postoperative analgesia. Due to the increasing amounts of textile waste, textile to textile recycling is of prime concern. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) represents the most extensively used type of chemical fiber. Its spinnability suffers from impurities and degradation in the processing, which limits its recycling to new fibers. Here, recycled polyester is blended with a small amount of recycled nylon, and the regenerated fibers, which demonstrated good mechanical properties, were obtained via a melt spinning machine. The mechanical properties, thermal properties, rheological properties, and chemical structure of the modified recycled fibers were investigated. It was found that when compared with rPET-T fibers, the elongation at break of rPET-A x fibers increased to 17.48%, and the strength at break decreased to 3.79 cN/dtex. The compatibility of PET and PA6 copolymer were enhanced by copolymers produced by in-situ reaction in the processing. Meanwhile, the existence of PA6 increases the crystallization temperature and improves the hydrophilicity of the fibers. This study realized the high-value recycling of waste PET fabric to new fibers, which opens a door for the large utilization of waste textiles.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in extraction sockets of periodontally compromised molars on soft tissue healing, postoperative pain, bone density and bone height changes. Methods: This study is a single-center, single-blind, randomized controlled superiority clinical trial. Thirty-eight periodontally compromised molars requiring extraction in patients attending the Department of Periodontology, Stomatology Hospital, School of Stomatology, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, from December 2022 to September 2023 were included, and randomly assigned to PDT group and control group. The control group received routine debridement after extraction, while PDT group received routine debridement followed by PDT. The bucco-lingual and mesio-distal wound distances at 7 and 14 d after extraction were measured, and then the wound closure rates were calculated. Evaluating the soft tissue healing indexes at 7 and 14 d after extraction. The visual analogue scale was used to assess the pain level at 6 h, 1 d, 2 d, and 3 d after tooth extraction. Apical radiographs were taken immediately and 2 months after extraction in order to compare the changes of the bone density and height. Results: The wound closure rate at 1 week was (78.08±5.45)% in PDT group and (71.03±6.82)% in control group, with significant differences ( P< 0.01). The wound closure rate at 2 weeks in PDT group [(85.88±3.84) %] was significantly higher than that in the control group [(81.66±3.79) %] ( P< 0.01), but did not reach the superiority value of the superiority test (superiority value=10%, 95% CI at 1 week: 3.00%-11.12%, 95% CI at 2 weeks: 1.71%-6.73%). The soft tissue healing index of PDT group at 1 week was significantly better than the control group ( P< 0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups at 2 weeks ( P> 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of postoperative pain at 6 h, 1 d, 2 d and 3 d as well as in bone density and height changes at 2 months after tooth extraction ( P> 0.05). Conclusions: PDT could promote soft tissues healing to some extent, but did not provide additional assistance in the healing of extraction sockets of periodontally compromised teeth. PDT did not show benefits on postoperative pain, changes of the bone density and bone height after tooth extraction.

Cinnamic ester is a common and abundant chemical substance, which can be extracted from natural plants. Compared with traditional esters, cinnamic ester contains α,β-unsaturated carbonyl structure with multiple reactive sites, resulting in more abundant reactivities and chemical structures. Here, a versatile polymerization-induced emission (PIE) is successfully demonstrated through Barbier polymerization of cinnamic ester. Attributed to its abundant reactivities of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl structure, Barbier polymerization of cinnamic esters with different organodihalides gives polyalcohol and polyketone via 1,2-addition and 1,4-addition, respectively, which is also confirmed by small molecular model reactions. Meanwhile, these organodihalides dependant polyalcohol and polyketone exhibit different non-traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) from aggregation-induced emission (AIE) type to aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) type, where novel PIE luminogens (PIEgens) are revealed. Further potential applications in explosive detection are carried out, where it achieves TNT detection sensitivity at ppm level in solution and ng level on the test paper. Objective: To build a radiomics signature based on MRI images and evaluate its capability for preoperatively identifying the benign and malignant Soft tissue neoplasms (STTs)., Materials and Methods: 193 patients (99 malignant STTs and 94 benign STTs) were at random segmented into a training cohort (69 malignant STTs and 65 benign STTs) and a validation cohort (30 malignant STTs and 29 benign STTs) with a portion of 7:3. Radiomics features were extracted from T2 with fat saturation and T1 with fat saturation and gadolinium contrast images. Radiomics signature was developed by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression model. The receiver that operated characteristics curve (ROC) analysis was used to assess radiomics signature's prediction performance. Inner validation was performed on an autonomous cohort that contained 40 patients., Results: A radiomics was developed by a total of 16 radiomics features (5 original shape features and 11 were wavelet features) achieved favorable predictive efficacy. Malignant STTs showed higher radiomics score than benign STTs in both training cohort and validation cohort. A good prediction performance was shown by the radiomics signature in both training cohorts and validation cohorts. Objective: To retrospectively analyze the treatment status of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) in newly diagnosed patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in China. Methods: Data of chronic phase (CP) and accelerated phase (AP) CML patients diagnosed from January 2006 to December 2022 from 77 centers, ≥18 years old, and receiving initial imatinib, nilotinib, dasatinib or flumatinib-therapy within 6 months after diagnosis in China with complete data were retrospectively interrogated. The choice of initial TKI, current TKI medications, treatment switch and reasons, treatment responses and outcomes as well as the variables associated with them were analyzed. Results: 6 893 patients in CP ( n =6 453, 93.6%) or AP ( n =440, 6.4%) receiving initial imatinib ( n =4 906, 71.2%), nilotinib ( n =1 157, 16.8%), dasatinib ( n =298, 4.3%) or flumatinib ( n =532, 7.2%) -therapy. With the median follow-up of 43 ( IQR 22-75) months, 1 581 (22.9%) patients switched TKI due to resistance ( n =1 055, 15.3%), intolerance ( n =248, 3.6%), pursuit of better efficacy ( n =168, 2.4%), economic or other reasons ( n =110, 1.6%). The frequency of switching TKI in AP patients was significantly-higher than that in CP patients (44.1% vs 21.5%, P <0.001), and more AP patients switched TKI due to resistance than CP patients (75.3% vs 66.1%, P =0.011). Multi-variable analyses showed that male, lower HGB concentration and ELTS intermediate/high-risk cohort were associated with lower cytogenetic and molecular responses rate and poor outcomes in CP patients; higher WBC count and initial the second-generation TKI treatment, the higher response rates; Ph(+) ACA at diagnosis, poor PFS. However, Sokal intermediate/high-risk cohort was only significantly-associated with lower CCyR and MMR rates and the poor PFS. Lower HGB concentration and larger spleen size were significantly-associated with the lower cytogenetic and molecular response rates in AP patients; initial the second-generation TKI treatment, the higher treatment response rates; lower PLT count, higher blasts and Ph(+) ACA, poorer TFS; Ph(+) ACA, poorer OS. Conclusion: At present, the vast majority of newly-diagnosed CML-CP or AP patients could benefit from TKI treatment in the long term with the good treatment responses and survival outcomes.

Rationale: The relationship between symptoms, measured using a validated disease-specific questionnaire, and longitudinal exacerbation risk has not been demonstrated in bronchiectasis. Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate whether baseline symptoms, assessed using the Quality-of-Life Bronchiectasis Respiratory Symptom Scale (QoL-B-RSS) and its individual component scores, could predict future exacerbation risk in patients with bronchiectasis. Methods: The study included 436 adults with bronchiectasis from three tertiary hospitals. Symptoms were measured using the QoL-B-RSS, with scores ranging from 0 to 100, where lower scores indicated more severe symptoms. We examined whether symptoms as continuous measures were associated with the risk of exacerbation over 12 months. The analysis was also repeated for individual components of the QoL-B-RSS score. Results: The baseline QoL-B-RSS score was associated with an increased risk of exacerbations (rate ratio, 1.25 for each 10-point decrease; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.15-1.35; P  < 0.001), hospitalizations (rate ratio, 1.24; 95% CI, 1.05-1.43; P  = 0.02), and reduced time to the first exacerbation (hazard ratio, 1.12; 95% CI, 1.03-1.21; P  = 0.01) over 12 months, even after adjusting for relevant confounders, including exacerbation history. The QoL-B-RSS score was comparable to exacerbation history in its association with future frequent exacerbations (defined as three or more exacerbations per year) and hospitalization (area under the curve, 0.86 vs. 0.84; P  = 0.46; and area under the curve, 0.81 vs. 0.83; P  = 0.41, respectively). Moreover, patients with more severe symptoms in the majority of individual components of the QoL-B-RSS were more likely to experience exacerbations. Conclusions: Symptoms can serve as useful indicators for identifying patients at increased risk of exacerbation in bronchiectasis. Beyond relying solely on exacerbation history, a comprehensive assessment of symptoms could facilitate timely and cost-effective implementation of interventions for exacerbation prevention.

Ethylene/α-olefin copolymers are produced in huge scale and widely used, but their after-use disposal has caused plastic pollution problems. Their chemical inertness made chemical re/upcycling difficult. Ideally, PE materials should be made de novo to have a circular closed-loop lifecycle. However, synthesis of circular ethylene/α-olefin copolymers, including high-volume, linear low-density PE as well as high-value olefin elastomers and block copolymers, presents a particular challenge due to difficulties in introducing branches while simultaneously installing chemical recyclability and directly using industrial ethylene and α-olefin feedstocks. Here we show that coupling of industrial coordination copolymerization of ethylene and α-olefins with a designed functionalized chain-transfer agent, followed by modular assembly of the resulting AB telechelic polyolefin building blocks by polycondensation, affords a series of ester-linked PE-based copolymers. These new materials not only retain thermomechanical properties of PE-based materials but also exhibit full chemical circularity via simple transesterification and markedly enhanced adhesion to polar surfaces., (© 2024. China is in a period of rapid population aging. The total population of the elderly aged 60 and above in mainland China was 264 million in 2020, and is the country with the largest elderly population in the world, which is home to 1/5 of the world's older people. The urgency of actively coping with the aging population has never been greater, and China has raised it to the height of national strategy. To this end, China has issued several plans and projects on aging work. Many of them include multiple overlapping components. The management of physical illness and mental illness in the elderly is over-differentiated and segmented. However, it is common for older adults with complex health problems. The body and mind are inherently integrated and interact with each other, and should not be separated. There is an urgent need for integrated healthcare services for the physical and mental health of the elderly population. The national basic public health services play an important role in early detection and awareness of health problems for the elderly in community health services. This paper introduces the elderly health management services, one of the national basic public health projects, and the psychological care project for the elderly in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. Taking Long-gang District's exploration of the joint management of physical and mental health of the elderly as an example, this review discusses the difficulties of the elderly health work, and the feasibility of integrating the elderly mental health and physical health in medical care. We outlook to build an integrated platform for physical and mental health of the elderly in China. Focus on the needs of older population, strengthen community health services, build a integrative team, fully publicize and improve health literacy of the elderly, link up and down and work together, improve coordination between providers of medical care and social services. The properties of polyethylene are highly dependent on the variety and quantity of substitutions. Generally, polyethylene can only be fully substituted with fluorine atoms, mainly e. g., polytetrafluoroethylene and nafion, because atomic radius of fluorine atom is small enough. The preparation of fully substituted polyethylene analogues (FSPEA) and their non-traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) are attractive, especially for substitutions with relatively larger atomic radii than a fluorine atom. Here, Barbier polymerization-induced emission (PIE) is demonstrated as a universal method for the molecular design of NTIL type FSPEAs with intriguing aggregation-induced emission (AIE) behaviors. Through Barbier polymerization of diphenyldichloromethane and different peroxyesters in the presence of Mg in one pot, a series of FSPEAs, including polytriphenylethanol (PTPE), polydiphenylfurylethanol (PDPFE), polydiphenylthiophenylethanol (PDPTE) and polydiphenylnaphthylethanol (PDPNE) have been successfully prepared. Further potential applications for explosive detection, artificial light-harvesting system and white phosphor-converted light-emitting diode are investigated. This study identified the metabolic biomarkers for different clinical phases of bipolar disorder (BD) through metabolomics. BD patients were divided into three groups: patients with BD and depressive episodes (BE, n = 59), patients with BD and mania/hypomania episodes (BH, n = 16), patients with BD and mixed episodes (BM, n = 10), and healthy controls (HC, n = 10). Serum from participants was collected for metabolomic sequencing, biomarkers from each group were screened separately by partial least squares analysis, and metabolic pathways connected to the biomarkers were identified. Compared with the controls, 3-D-hydroxyacetic acid and N-acetyl-glycoprotein showed significant differences in the BE, BH, and BM groups. This study suggests that different clinical types of BD share the same metabolic pathways, such as pyruvate, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, and ketone body metabolisms. In particular, abnormal glycine, serine, and threonine metabolism was specific to BM; β-glucose, glycerol, lipids, lactate, and acetoacetate metabolites were specific to depressive episodes; the guanidine acetic acid metabolites specific to BH; and the acetic and ascorbic acids were metabolites specific to manic and BM. Background: Chronic heart failure (CHF) is the terminal stage of cardiovascular disease., Objective: In this study, the "hospital-to-home + online-to-offline" (H2H + O2O) care scheme was implemented for patients with CHF during vulnerable periods, and its effect was evaluated., Methods: Patients with CHF in the cardiovascular department of a Class III/Grade A hospital in Jiangxi Province from January to December 2020 were selected using a convenience sampling method and randomly divided into a control and intervention group (n= 100 each). The patients in the control group received routine in-hospital treatment and out-of-hospital follow-up, while in the intervention group, a multi-disciplinary cooperation team with CHF specialist nurses evaluated and stratified the patients before discharge and formulated individualized prescriptions and care plans. Based on the "Health & Happiness" chronic disease follow-up application designed for this study, the specialist nurses provided patients with one-to-one guidance. After three months, the cardiac function, heart failure knowledge, self-care behavior, and re-hospitalization rate of the patients were compared between the two groups. Cardiac function was evaluated by the serum B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and a six-minute walking test (6MWT). Heart failure knowledge and self-care behavior was assessed using specific questionaries., Results: The level of cardiac function in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.001). The mastery of heart failure knowledge and self-care behavior in the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P< 0.05). The re-hospitalization rate due to CHF in the intervention group was 21.0%, which was lower than that in the control group (35.0%), and the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05)., Conclusion: The H2H + O2O care scheme can be used for the transition of vulnerable patients with CHF from the hospital to family care to improve the patients' level of cardiac function, elevate their knowledge level and self-care abilities, and improve their overall health outcomes.

Objective: Genomic instability can drive clonal evolution, continuous modification of tumor genomes, and tumor genomic heterogeneity. The molecular mechanism of genomic instability still needs further investigation. This study aims to identify novel genome instabilityassociated lncRNAs (GI-lncRNAs) and investigate the role of genome instability in pan-Renal cell carcinoma (RCC)., Materials and Methods: A mutator hypothesis was employed, combining the TCGA database of somatic mutation (SM) information, to identify GI-lncRNAs. Subsequently, a training cohort (n = 442) and a testing cohort (n = 439) were formed by randomly dividing all RCC patients. Based on the training cohort dataset, a multivariate Cox regression analysis lncRNAs risk model was created. Further validations were performed in the testing cohort, TCGA cohort, and different RCC subtypes. To confirm the relative expression levels of lncRNAs in HK-2, 786-O, and 769-P cells, qPCR was carried out. Functional pathway enrichment analyses were performed for further investigation., Results: A total of 170 novel GI-lncRNAs were identified. The lncRNA prognostic risk model was constructed based on LINC00460, AC073218.1, AC010789.1, and COLCA1. This risk model successfully differentiated patients into distinct risk groups with significantly different clinical outcomes. The model was further validated in multiple independent patient cohorts. Additionally, functional and pathway enrichment analyses revealed that GI-lncRNAs play a crucial role in GI. Furthermore, the assessments of immune response, drug sensitivity, and cancer stemness revealed a significant relationship between GI-lncRNAs and tumor microenvironment infiltration, mutational burden, microsatellite instability, and drug resistance., Conclusions: In this study, we discovered four novel GI-lncRNAs and developed a novel signature that effectively predicted clinical outcomes in pan-RCC. In this study, a biodegradable Schiff-base hydrogel urea, possessing substantial water retention and certain slow-release ability was designed and synthesized. Firstly, dialdehyde starch (DAS) and amine-terminated polyethylene glycol (PEG-(NH 2 ) 2 ) were synthesized using potato starch and polyethylene glycol. Then, a novel Schiff-base hydrogel (SH) was prepared through the in-situ reaction between the aldehyde group of DAS and the amino group of PEG-(NH 2 ) 2 . Three SH based slow-release urea, designated as SHU1, SHU2, and SHU3 and distinguished by varying urea content, were obtained using SH as the substrate. Several characterizations and tests were conducted to determine the structure, thermal properties, morphology, swelling properties, sustainable use, water retention, and biodegradation properties of SH. Additionally, the slow-release behavior of SHU was studied. SEM results revealed that SH possessed a porous three-dimensional network structure, with a maximum water absorption capacity of 4440 % ± 6.23 %. Compared to pure urea, SHU exhibited better slow-release performance after 30 days of release in soil, with SHU1 having a residual nitrogen content of specifically 36.01 ± 0.57 % of the initial nitrogen content. A pot experiment with pakchoi substantiated the water retention and plant growth promotion properties of SHU. Resistance exercise is an indispensable mode of exercise rehabilitation for heart failure. Here we elucidate the cardiac effects of resistance training alone or combined with different aerobic trainings on heart failure and explore the critical regulation of mitophagy. The chronic heart failure model was constructed by transverse aortic constriction surgery, followed by 8 wk of resistance training (RT), moderate-intensity continuous training combined with resistance training (MRT), and high-intensity interval training combined with resistance training (HRT), and subsequently analyzed the changes of maximum load, cardiac structure and function, and myocardial mitophagic activity. The role and signaling of mitophagy in exercise protection of heart failure were investigated by knockdown of Hif1α and Parkin genes in primary neonatal cardiomyocytes. RT and especially MRT improved maximum load ( P < 0.0001), myocardial morphology and fibrosis ( P < 0.0001), reduced left ventricular diameter and enhanced left ventricular systolic function ( P < 0.01), and enhanced myocardial mitophagic activity and HIF1α expression ( P < 0.05) in heart failure mice. However, HRT had no obvious protective effect on ventricular diameter and function or mitophagy. The abilities of exercise stimulation to regulate reactive oxygen species, adenosine triphosphate, and brain natriuretic peptide were impaired after knockdown of Hif1α and Parkin genes inhibited mitophagy in failing cardiomyocytes ( P < 0.05). Different exercise modalities provide discrepant cardiovascular effects on heart failure, and MRT exhibits optimal protection. The HIF1α-Parkin-mitophagy pathway is involved in the protection and regulation of exercise on heart failure. NEW & NOTEWORTHY Impaired myocardial mitophagy is implicated in the pathogenesis of heart failure. Resistance training alone or combined with different aerobic trainings provide discrepant cardiovascular effects on heart failure, and the cardioprotective function depends on HIF1α-Parkin-mitophagy pathway.

The integration of aryl diazonium and carbon nanotube chemistries has offered rich and versatile tools for creating nanomaterials of unique optical and electronic properties in a controllable fashion. The diazonium reaction with single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is known to proceed through a radical or carbocation mechanism in aqueous solutions, with deuterated water (D 2 O) being the frequently used solvent. Here, we show strong water solvent isotope effects on the aryl diazonium reaction with SWCNTs for creating fluorescent quantum defects using water (H 2 O) and D 2 O. We found a deduced reaction constant of ∼18.2 times larger value in D 2 O than in H 2 O, potentially due to their different chemical properties. We also observed the generation of new defect photoluminescence over a broad concentration range of diazonium reactants in H 2 O, as opposed to a narrow window of reaction conditions in D 2 O under UV excitation. Without UV light, the physical adsorption of diazonium on the surface of SWCNTs led to the fluorescence quenching of nanotubes. These findings provide important insights into the aryl diazonium chemistry with carbon nanotubes for creating promising material platforms for optical sensing, imaging, and quantum communication technologies.

The violent side reactions of Zn metal in aqueous electrolyte lead to sharp local-pH fluctuations at the interface, which accelerate Zn anode breakdown; thus, the development of an optimization strategy to accommodate a wide pH range is particularly critical for improving aqueous Zn metal batteries. Herein, we report a pH-adaptive electric double layer (EDL) tuned by glycine (Gly) additive with pH-dependent ionization, which exhibits excellent capability to stabilize Zn anodes in wide-pH aqueous electrolytes. It is discovered that a Gly-ionic EDL facilitates the directed migration of charge carriers in both mildly acidic and alkaline electrolytes, leading to the successful suppression of local saturation. It is worth mentioning that the regulation effect of the additive concentration on the inner Helmholtz plane (IHP) structure of Zn electrodes is clarified in depth. It is revealed that the Gly additives without dimerization can develop orderly and dense vertical adsorption within the IHP to effectively reduce the EDL repulsive force of Zn 2+ and isolate H 2 O from the anode surface. Consequently, they Zn anode with tunable EDL exhibits superior electrochemical performance in a wide range of pH and temperature, involving the prodigious cycle reversibility of 7000 h at Zn symmetric cells with ZnSO 4 -Gly electrolytes and an extended lifespan of 50 times in Zn symmetric cells with KOH-Gly electrolytes. Moreover, acidic Zn powder||MnO 2 pouch cells, and alkaline high-voltage Zn||Ni 0.8 Co 0.1 Mn 0.1 O 2 cells, and Zn||NiCo-LDH cells also deliver excellent cycling reversibility. The tunable EDL enables the ultrahigh depth of discharge (DOD) of 93%. This work elucidates the design of electrolyte additives compatible in a wide range of pH and temperature, which might cause inspiration in the fields of practical multiapplication scenarios for Zn anodes.
