16. Effect of Progressive Compression Stocking on Treadmill Exercise Performance in Male College Students

Abstract

이 연구는 점진적 압박스타킹을 적용하여, 압박의 차이가 트레드밀 운동수행 능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구참여자는 체육전공 남학생 12명을 대상으로 압박수준이 다른 스타킹을 착용한 후 안정 시 맥파속도검사와 최대하 트레드밀 운동을 실시하였다. 이 연구의 참여자에게 점진적 압박스타킹 미착용, 1단계 15-20mmHg, 2단계 23-32mmHg, 3단계 34-46mmHg의 압박스타킹을 착용시켰다. 최대하 트레드밀 운동은 15분간 진행하여 측정하였다. 압박스타킹 1단계 착용은 앉은 자세에서 맥파속도가 유의하게 높게 나타났으며, 최대하 트레드밀 운동 시 이산화탄소배출량, 산소섭취량, 그리고 호흡교환율에서 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 또한 젖산농도 및 운동자각도 역시 압박양말 착용 및 압력차이가 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이와 같은 결과는 압박의류의 착용이 트레드밀 달리기 시 운동수행능력 향상에 미치는 효과가 미미함을 의미한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of emotional response, dopamine and lactate concentrations in moderate-intensity continuous exercise(MICE) and high-intensity interval exercise(HIIE)) according to with or without obesity. The subjects of this study were 30 adult males in their 20s and were divided into obesity group (OG, n=15) and non-obesity group (NOG, n=15). Treadmill exercise was performed with MICE (warm up for 5 minutes at 50% VT, exercise for time to consume 150㎉ at 90% VT, cool down for 5 minutes a t 50% VT) and HIIE ( repeated 5 t imes for 2 minutes at 115% VT, active recovery was repeated 4 times for 2 minutes at 85% VT). The results of the statistical analysis are as follows. MICE showed no difference in feeling scale between OG and NOF, and in HIIE, the feeling scale of OG was significantly negative compared to the NOG. In addition, the OG was more negative than the NOG in the PACES after exercise. Dopamine expression showed that both groups increased significantly after 10 minutes of exercise compared to before exercise in MICE and HIIE. At the concentration of lactate, the OG was significantly higher at the end of exercise than the NOG at HIIE.

Abstract

The effect of a 12-week low-intensity resistance exercise programme with blood flow restriction (LI-BFR) on growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels in middle-aged women (52.7±7.8 years) was examined. Subjects (N=44) were randomly assigned to the following five groups: control group (CG; n=8), low-intensity (40% of 1RM) resistance exercise group (LI; n=9), high-intensity (70% of 1RM) resistance exercise group (HI; n=9), low-intensity (20% of 1RM) resistance exercise group with a 5% reduction in cuff circumference for blood flow restriction (LI-5% BFR; n=7), and a low-intensity (20% of 1RM) resistance exercise group with a 3% reduction in cuff circumference (LI-3% BFR; n=11). This study examined the effect of 12 weeks of combined exercise training on levels of leptin, adiponectin and blood lipids in obese women. The subjects (N=20) were assigned randomly to the combined exercise training (resistance and aerobics) group (CEG: n=10) or the control group (CG: n=10). Abstract

Oxidative stress is associated with many cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension and arteriosclerosis. Oxidative stress reportedly activates the L-type voltage-gated calcium channel (VDCCL) and elevates [Ca2+]i in many cells. However, how oxidative stress activates VDCCL under clinical setting and the consequence for arteries are unclear. Here, we examined the hypothesis that hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) regulates membrane potential (Em) by altering Na+ influx through cation channels, which consequently activates VDCCL to induce vasoconstriction in rat mesenteric arteries. To measure the tone of the endothelium-denuded arteries, a conventional isometric organ chamber was used. Membrane currents and Em were recorded by the patch-clamp technique. [Ca2+]i and [Na+]i were measured with microfluorometry using Fura2-AM and SBFI-AM, respectively. We found that H2O2 (10 and 100 µM) increased arterial contraction, and nifedipine blocked the effects of H2O2 on isometric contraction. H2O2 increased [Ca2+]i as well as [Na+]i, and depolarised Em. Gd3+ (1 µM) blocked all these H2O2-induced effects including Em depolarisation and increases in [Ca2+]i and [Na+]i. Although both nifedipine (30 nM) and low Na+ bath solution completely prevented the H2O2-induced increase in [Na+], they only partly inhibited the H2O2-induced effects on [Ca2+]i and Em. Taken together, the results suggested that H2O2 constricts rat arteries by causing Em depolarisation and VDCCL activation through activating Gd3+-and nifedipine-sensitive, Na+-permeable channels as well as Gd3+-sensitive Ca2+-permeable cation channels. We suggest that unidentified Na+-permeable cation channels as well as Ca2+-permeable cation channels may function as important mediators for oxidative stress-induced vascular dysfunction.
