STUDY QUESTION What is the recommended management for couples presenting with unexplained infertility (UI), based on the best available evidence in the literature? SUMMARY ANSWER The evidence-based guideline on UI makes 52 recommendations on the definition, diagnosis, and treatment of UI. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY UI is diagnosed in the absence of any abnormalities of the female and male reproductive systems after 'standard' investigations. However, a consensual standardization of the diagnostic work-up is still lacking. The management of UI is traditionally empirical. The efficacy, safety, costs, and risks of treatment options have not been subjected to robust evaluation. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION The guideline was developed according to the structured methodology for ESHRE guidelines. Following formulation of key questions by a group of experts, literature searches, and assessments were undertaken. Papers written in English and published up to 24 October 2022 were evaluated. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Based on the available evidence, recommendations were formulated and discussed until consensus was reached within the guideline development group (GDG). Following stakeholder review of an initial draft, the final version was approved by the GDG and the ESHRE Executive Committee. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE This guideline aims to help clinicians provide the best care for couples with UI. As UI is a diagnosis of exclusion, the guideline outlined the basic diagnostic procedures that couples should/could undergo during an infertility work-up, and explored the need for additional tests. The first-line treatment for couples with UI was deemed to be IUI in combination with ovarian stimulation. The place of additional and alternative options for treatment of UI was also evaluated. The GDG made 52 recommendations on diagnosis and treatment for couples with UI. The GDG formulated 40 evidence-based recommendations—of which 29 were formulated as strong recommendations and 11 as weak—10 good practice points and two research only recommendations. Of the evidence-based recommendations, none were supported by high-quality evidence, one by moderate-quality evidence, nine by low-quality evidence, and 31 by very low-quality evidence. To support future research in UI, a list of research recommendations was provided. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION Most additional diagnostic tests and interventions in couples with UI have not been subjected to robust evaluation. For a large proportion of these tests and treatments, evidence was very limited and of very low quality. More evidence is required, and the results of future studies may result in the current recommendations being revised. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS The guideline provides clinicians with clear advice on best practice in the care of couples with UI, based on the best evidence currently available. Abstract The development of DC microgrids is reliant on multi-input converters, which offer several advantages, including enhanced DC power generation and consumption efficiency, simplified quality, and stability. This paper describes the development of a multiple input supply based modified SEPIC DC–DC Converter for efficient management of DC microgrid that is powered by two DC sources. Here Multi-Input SEPIC converter offers both versatility in handling output voltage ranges and efficiency in power flow, even under challenging operating conditions like lower duty cycle values. These features contribute to the converter's effectiveness in managing power within a DC microgrid. In this configuration, the DC sources can supply energy to the load together or separately, depending on how the power switches operate. The detailed working states with equivalent circuit diagrams and theoretical waveforms, under steady-state conditions, are shown along with the current direction equations. This paper also demonstrates the typical analysis of large-signal, small-signal, steady-state modeling techniques and detailed design equations. The proposed configuration is validated through the conceptual examination using theoretical and comprehensive MATLAB simulation results. Detailed performance analysis has been done for different cases with various duty ratios. Finally, to show the competitiveness, the multi-input SEPIC topology is compared with similar recent converters.

Abstract At present, Renewable Energy Sources (RES) utilization keeps on increasing because of their merits are more availability in the atmosphere, easy energy harvesting, less maintenance expenses, plus more reliability. Here, the solar power generation systems are utilized for supplying the energy to the local consumers. The accurate, and efficient solar power supply to the customers is a very important factor to meet the peak load demand. The accurate power generation of the sunlight system completely depends on its accurate parameters extraction. In this work, a Modified Rao-based Dichotomy Technique (MRAODT) is introduced to identify the actual parameters of the different PV cells which are PWP 201 polycrystalline, plus RTC France. The proposed MRAODT method is compared with the other existing algorithms which are the teaching and learning algorithm, African vultures, plus tuna intelligence algorithm. Finally, from the simulation results, the MRAODT gives superior performance when associated with the other controllers in terms of parameters extraction time, accuracy in the PV cells parameters identification, plus convergence time of the algorithm.

Abstract The present working conventional power generation systems utilization is reducing day by day because of their demerits are more functioning cost, high carbon dioxide emission, more complexity in handling, and required high installation area. So, the current power generation company focuses on Renewable Energy Sources (RES) which are wind, tidal, and solar. Here, the solar power network is utilized for supplying electricity to the electrical vehicle battery charging system. The Solar photovoltaic (PV) modules supply nonlinear power which is not useful for automotive systems. To maximize the supply power of the solar PV system, an Adaptive Step Genetic Algorithm Optimized (ASGAO) Radial Basis Functional Network (RBFN) is utilized for tracking the working point of the solar PV module thereby enhancing the operating efficiency of the overall system. The features of this proposed hybrid Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller are quick system dynamic response, easy operation, quick convergence speed, more robustness, and high operating efficiency when equalized with the basic MPPT controllers. The major issue of solar PV modules is low supply voltage which is increased by introducing the wide input voltage DC-DC converter. The merits of this introduced converter are low-level voltage stress on diodes, good quality supply power, high voltage gain, plus low implementation cost. Here, the introduced converter along with the AGAO-RBFN controller is analyzed by selecting the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Also, the proposed converter is tested with the help of a programable DC source.

Abstract Renewable energy resources are more useful when associated with the thermal power generation network because of their high accessibility in the environment, good system response, easy manufacturing, plus high scalable. So, the present research is going on solar power to reduce consumer grid dependency. The running of the PV network is quite easier, plus less human sources are involved. However, the solar modules’ power generation is nonlinear fashion. So, the collection of peak power from the sunlight-dependent systems is a highly challenging task. In this article, a Modified Differential Step Grey Wolf Optimization with Adaptive Fuzzy Logic Controller (MDSGWO with FLC) is developed for collecting the maximum power from renewable energy resources under diverse Partial Shading Conditions (PSCs). The introduced method comprehensive analysis has been done along with the other recently existing MPPT methods in terms of convergence speed, MPP tracking accuracy, operating efficiency of the introduced method, functioning duty value of the DC–DC boost power converter, dependence of MPPT on sunlight system, total number of sensing devices are needed, plus peak power extraction from the proposed system. Here, the sunlight power generation cost is more to limit this issue, a power converter is selected in the second objective to develop the voltage source capability of the PV network. The overall PV-interfaced power converter network is examined by utilizing the MATLAB environment.

This paper introduces a novel approach for rapidly balancing lithium-ion batteries using a single DC–DC converter, enabling direct energy transfer between high- and low-voltage cells. Utilizing relays for cell pair selection ensures cost-effectiveness in the switch network. The control system integrates a battery-monitoring IC and an MCU to oversee cell voltage and ensure battery protection. A prototype circuit with twelve lithium-ion batteries demonstrates the method’s efficacy, achieving a remarkable balancing time of 48 min during charging with a maximum efficiency of 89.85%. Comparative analysis with other methods underscores the superior performance of the proposed balancing circuit in terms of balancing time and implementation cost. Furthermore, this paper delves into hardware aspects of battery management systems (BMSs) for electric vehicles and stationary applications. It offers an overview of prevailing concepts in state-of-the-art systems, aiding readers in assessing considerations essential for BMS design in various applications. The discussion includes examples of battery packs sourced from commercially available electric vehicles. Subsequently, the manuscript addresses implementation aspects concerning the measurement of critical physical variables such as voltage, current, and temperature, alongside balancing strategies.

Objective: To evaluate the risk of monozygotic splitting with embryo biopsy during in vitro fertilisation (IVF).Design: A cohort study.Setting: Anonymised assisted reproductive technology national data from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, UK.Population: Women undergoing single-embryo transfer (SET) following either pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) involving embryo biopsy or IVF without PGT.Methods: Data on women undergoing SET either following PGT and non-PGT IVF treatment in 2000-2016 were analysed to compare the risk of zygotic splitting and monozygotic twining. Logistic regression analysis was performed adjusting for potential confounders.Main Outcomes: Monozygotic spitting, monozygotic twin birth.Results: Data comprising a total of 207 697 SET cycles (4544 following PGT and 203 153 following non-PGT IVF) were analysed. The live birth rate per embryo transfer was 31.9% (95% confidence interval [CI] 30.5-33.2%) following PGT and 26.9% (95% CI 26.7-27.1%) following non-PGT IVF. The incidence of zygotic splitting following PGT was 2.4% (95% CI 1.7-3.3%) versus 1.5% (95% CI 1.4-1.6%) following non-PGT IVF. There was a significantly higher risk of zygotic splitting with PGT versus non-PGT IVF cycles (odds ratio [OR] 1.64, 95% CI 1.19-2.27). The higher risk of zygotic splitting with PGT cycles remained significant after adjusting for potential confounders (adjusted OR 1.51, 95% CI 1.06-2.15).Conclusions: The present study demonstrated an increased risk of monozygotic splitting with embryo biopsy.
